    Sausage roll and pie

This place is incredible! The food is amazing and the people are wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It really does feel like you stepped into a little piece of England.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are a couple tables to sit and eat at if you choose, or you can also take things cold to go to warm up at home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sausage rolls are MAD! They're sooo good. Crisp, flaky pastry stuffed full of perfectly seasoned pork. I also tried the steak and Guinness pie which was incredible. Huge chunks of tender beef in a lovely gravy. Perfection. I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area

When I was researching Places for food in the Wappinger Falls area, I was immediately intrigued by Braised Pies because the name was new to me. BP is predominantly a British style meat pie business. They have hand helds, as well as traditional chicken pot pie shapes. Sweet pies seem to be less of a focus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was some inside and outside seating, but BP seems more like a working kitchen and production facility.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had a small team of people getting things together. No customers ate there while we were at BP. I'm not clear on the normal production flow. We arrived around noon on Thursday and they are closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So we caught them early in their work week and they were still getting things together. They mentioned that they were getting ready to bring things to markets they participate in. There were four different types of handhelds that had been fully cooked, but needed re-heating. I ordered a Steak Pie with rutabaga and they heated it for me. I also asked about a chicken pot pie, which I did not see. They told me they weren't ready yet, but they could assemble one for home baking in about 10 minutes. I ordered a chicken pot pie too and cooked it later at our airbnb. They even gave me an egg for the recommended egg wash. Both pies were terrific. Maybe the best I've had for this style. The fillings had great quality ingredients, texture and savory flavor. The crust of the handheld was amazing. It had some thicker parts, which I enjoyed. The chicken pot was more of a traditional thin round crust sitting over the pot pie filling, but it was very good too. I loved the food. The people were very nice! You may want to go a bit later in the day, on Thursday at least, to give them time to get everything ready. 5 Stars

What a fun little trip! It's just a little bitty shop but the allure of a possible "Sweeney Toddesque" adventure was enough to draw me in the door. I really love when a possible 4 turns into a 9 or ten and British food tastes better here than anywhere in Britain. I am VERY impressed. Order the Shepards pie and find a thousand things to chat with Izzie about (very sweet that one). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great vibes, terrific service and yummy scones and such.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is our third time eating at this excellent restaurant. The food never disappoints…read more We started with an appetizer- we chose the Shepard's pie croquette. It was fried, crispy on outside and moist and delicious on the inside. As far as drinks we got the loong island iced tea( NY Accent) and an espresso martini. I loved mine b/c you could taste the cawfee. The main course was difficult, I wanted a comforting meal but the burgers looked sooo good. After we decided to share the pot pie because it never disappoints and the horse filo is funny as sh*t- It makes me smile. Overall great lunch with the hubs, great views perfect day..

Go for the food, NOT the service!! Especially if you happen to get HARRY!…read more We waited forever for this guy to take our order, then the French onion soup had a fly in it. REALLY!! Never in my life. This guy was so overwhelmed that I waited 1/2 hr for a refill on water. He was awful. The 3 of the 4 of us order coffee and dessert. 2 desserts came, never got mine. I just figured....screw it, didn't need it. The kicker?........after waiting at least 1/2 hr for them to bring us to-go containers we asked 2 different waiters for, we get them. Now this freaked me out....thought the guy was kidding......he brings the check and precedes to tell us another table paid our bill......but no!!....not in a good way where we walked away with a free dinner, the waiter had inadvertently given another table OUR bill and they paid it, so he gave us THEIR bill which he claims was about $35 cheaper! So, that was our evening. Food wasn't bad, aside from the lone fly in my soup. But we won't be going back.

Our friendly server Rob was extremely attentive and provided descriptions on the various entrees. I started with a light, delicious cherry Bellini. Not too sweet, a beautiful color of pink bubbly goodness! Just what the doctor ordered! Husband had a great local IPA out of Brooklyn. When he couldn't decide, he was offered a samples to try. My entree was the best Pasta Bolognese I've had in a very long time! I'm an Italian and it transcended me back to childhood in my mother's kitchen! The rich abundant meat flavor blended perfectly with the spiced tomato sauce! It was a truly delicious dish ladled over the cooked just right al dente pasta! Deliciousness at 100% ! I highly recommend it! Husband had the huge, thick cut , bone in pork chop! Unbelievable flavor! The glaze was deliciously savory with hidden tastes of sweet Asian over perfectly charred cut up sweet potatoes and sticky rice on the side. Both our dinners portions were very large offering plenty for another meal at home. This was our fourth visit to the restaurant . Next time we are traveling up here to Poughkeepsie for work from Boston area we will certainly return! Each visit gets better and better! It makes me realize why familiar faces return regularly to the restaurant. The owner Tom is so welcoming and friendly. The food is not only excellent but the friendly atmosphere the whole staff provide makes it a winning combination! You all are so lucky to have this restaurant near by! Deliciousness and the best hospitality with fair pricing is hard to beat! I wish I took pictures!

Salad was tasty and the fresh warm bread with the flavorful butter was excellent. I had salmon and usually I am not fond of restaurant spinach but their spinach was delicious as well as the salmon. Simone was our server and she was very attentive. So glad we chose to eat here . It was nice that the cook and manager thanked us as we left the restaurant.

Really excellent fish and chips…read more I ordered the food to go and was worried my 20+ min trip would make the crispiness of the fish and chips be lost but it didn't. The food was fresh, batter was perfectly seasoned and crisp and the fish was soft and tender. It was good and possibly better than any fish and chips I had in the UK. The chips were also nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Service was very nice. The food definitely leaves you wanting more. I wish I had ordered more so I could be eating it now. I'll definitely be back! (FYI: I ordered the lunch portion which comes with one piece of fish. Also there's a 3% credit card fee.)

As you enter there is a small waiting area and an ordering counter. Staff were very nice, cheerful, & accommodating while I waited for my order to be cooked and packaged. I didn't look into the dining room since this was a take out order. PROS: Cleanliness appears to be high on their agenda. My order consisted of Fried Oyster dinner, Fish & Chips dinner, and a Fried Shrimp & Scallops dinner. All came with French Fries and Cole Slaw. They also provided plenty of tartar and cocktail sauce. Additionally they have Malt Vinegar which is a must, at least for me when eating fish and chips. The oysters were cooked to perfection, as were the shrimp and scallops. CONS: The fish fillet was undercooked and the coating saturated with oil. I don't think the fryer was hot enough. French Fries were soggy because the steam from the closed containers. Easily solved by putting in a frying pan to crisp them up. Coleslaw was okay. As for Pricing, they are quite high for portion served. $30.00 for 2 shrimp, 2 scallops and a mound of french fries is outrageous. I can get a full seafood platter at any decent diner or restaurant for this kind of money. I think I'll look elsewhere when I get my next craving for this type of cuisine.
