last week I had my front brakes repaired. I was told an hour and a half wait. I went shopping and came back my car still untouched. After 2 hours I asked again how much long would it be I was told an additional one and a half hours. 4 and half hours later it was finished. this shop has no concept of time. Fast forward today and I went with my daughter to get her brakes checked. we had an apt but when we pulled in we're told there was only one tech working but he could take a look and see what need to be done. I said we would wait until we knew if anything was wrong. 30 minutes go by and the car was not touched. I asked how much longer would it be. we were prepared to leave and come back later because they seem unable to be respectful with peoples time. He finally brought the car in to be looked at and returned to tell us we should go to a different location who had more techs working. Needless to say this was a huge waste of our morning. I first brought my Toyota 4Runner over to Nick and his crew when he was at the research location where they ended up finding problems on my vehicle that would've cost me much more in the future if they weren't caught then. Nick being Toyota certified made my decision to stick with him very easy even when he got moved to the cedar park location. Cameron and the team deserve all the praises they can possibly get. I showed up a little later in the working hours of the day today (Sunday) so I figured I'd go in for just an inspection and book an appointment for any repairs that might have been needed. When I went in Cameron explained they'd love to do the inspection but set the expectation that any work may not be done today due to the shop closing in less than an hour, I agreed. After they inspected everything Cameron and the team diagnosed that the pads were completely worn down and was stripping into the rotor, this needed to get services immediately so I scheduled some time for tomorrow (Monday) just because at this time the shop was closing in a few minutes. He offered to put on the pads now and then they could replace the rotors during the appointment. I agreed to the service and went back to the seating area. As soon as I sat down, Cameron came to the seating area and offered to just get the rotors replaced right then and there. I truly am grateful for these folks as they didn't have to take the time to get this serviced today since I'm sure they wanted to get off work and go home, but they did so anyways. Just today though, I had an online estimate for rear brakes come in at one price, but after they looked at it they doubled the price. I called and asked why, and they said their online estimate doesn't actually include everything they do, so it's just nonsense. We had a terrible experience with this location! My mom had brought her car to the shop for a normal maintenance of oil filter change, this was before a Turo reservation to make sure that the car would've been cleaned and in proper state to use. When we went to pickup the car, it was working very badly, we had the engine light on and the car was going very slow and ended up not being able to drive, making us cancel the Turo reservation. We end up finding out that one of the mechanics had emptied out the wrong tank, instead of emptying out the oil tank he emptied out the transmission fluid. Instead of the mechanic and manager realizing their mistake and apologizing they began threatening my mother for coming back and asking for them to fix their mistake. They said that they would call the police if she wouldn't leave, but she can't leave because the car was no longer running and if she did make the car run in the first place, it would damage the car even more than it was already. When my white father had gone into the store after their original dispute of them needing to fix the car, they finally accepted on taking the car back and fixing their mistake, in which case we thought was the end and decided on making a review to state what had happened and our experience. They ended up calling us and the owner began his threats again, verbally intimidating my mother, and once again not accepting his and the company's mistake. They also refused to refund the lost income from our Turo reservation because of their negligence. On the phone we asked if they could send everything they wanted to tell her, that they should send her in writing because we don't trust them anymore, and Jay, the manager, proceeded to get mad and raise his voice and started saying - "why? you can't take us to court, do you not like the sound of my voice?!" and hung up the phone. It is insane to see a manager act in this way, and if they cannot hand their simple emotions and realize mistakes on their end then they shouldn't be a manager in the first place. This sets a terrible role model for the workers and environment to work in and terrible to show how to treat a customer. This shows how sexist this manager is because she is a woman trying to fight back for their bad work. This did not happen when my white father had gone into the store to pickup my mother who was unable to leave the store. Which truly shows the terrible management this location is under. read more

My husband and I needed to get our brake pads replaced last week and made a last minute appointment on a Monday at 4:30. We were not expecting them to stay open and replace our pads, rotors, and calipers! We were blown away by their professionalism, knowledge, and all over kindness. Jordan is awesome! The employees were hard working and quick to get my car in and out. My only gripes are that the lobby place is pretty gross and doesn't look like it's been cleaned in months. Also, the employee who worked on my car was also the one who drove it in and out of the bay, and their hands were covers in grease and dirt the entire time. It would have been nice if they washed their hands for a quick second so my steering wheel, shifter and keys aren't covered in filth. I was close to 1000 miles over on my oil change and happened to be driving by Brake Check so I quickly stopped in. Thankfully they had just opened and I was the first to arrive so it literally took 20 min total. They were super nice and as a female I feel a lot of mechanic places try to unfairly "trick" women into getting things that really aren't necessary but they were super to the point and very friendly. I set up an oil change/brake inspection appointment for my make/model/year and it showed the oil type and a price around $25 (with first time discount). Fantastic! Nope. After getting there and getting "checked in", the BC employee proceeds to tell me that they are "out of the regular 5W-30 oil my car needs but they do have the full synthetic". Wow. Either that is some serious bait and switch BS for an upgrade to a 4X the price oil change (I didn't ask the price) or incompetence/failure of a system that allows me to schedule something that inst possible to do because they're out of the super-rare 5w-30 oil??? They even say how much they value feedback on their Contact Us form. Yet, probably due to some rare technical glitch, they didn't even bother to respond to my feedback. 25 years in Cedar Park. My first time going to BC. My last time going to BC. They give Texas a bad name. I have been to Brake Check a few times for brakes and brake fluid exchange. I also recently had them do a wheel alignment (9/13) since I was there already for a brake fluid exchange. Typically, they do a decent job at a fair price. Today (11/20) I took it in for an oil change and the car also needed a brake fluid exchange and tire rotation as indicated by the computerized maintenance minder in the car. After the previous visit on 9/13 my wife did say that it tended to drift slightly to the right even after having them do the alignment, and I figured next time I took it in I would mention it and they would check it and correct it if necessary. Well couple of issues here but first: I have no problems at all with their oil change (except it's more expensive than some places but not a lot more) or their brake fluid exchange service (one of the better price points I found). The issues I have are 1. Cost of their tire rotation @ $39.99. Wal Mart does it for 5$ tire / 20$ total. My dealer does it for $29.99 total along with an oil change. BC can charge anything they want for any of their services but I will never have them do another tire rotation ever again at that price point. I can go to Wal-Mart and get a full synthetic oil change and filter and a tire rotation for much less. (Everyday price of $64.99 at Walmart for full synthetic oil change and filter and 5$ tire for rotation; $75 at Brake Chek for the oil change and filter, even with a 20$ discount coupon and 1/2 the price at WalMart for the tire rotation). The second issue 2. is their wheel alignment. I paid about 75$ for a wheel alignment on 9/13. As I said my wife noticed a slight pull to the right even right after but we don't live close so I thought I'll have them check it next time I'm in which I knew wouldn't be too long. (Absolutely my fault for not immediately calling them on it but figured they had some type of warranty or grace period etc - my bad). Anyway, they checked the alignment and sure enough it was out. No doubt it was out after I left the time before, but it obviously wasn't a huge number. They refused to adjust the alignment. Said they offer no guarantees or warranties of any kind so I would need to pay again for another alignment. I declined. I will take it to anyone else rather than pay them twice for a job not well done. I will use BC again for what they do reasonably well: Brake pads, rotor resurfacing, and brake fluid exchange. Never again for an oil change, tire rotation or alignment. read more

If I could give these so called mechanics a -1000 I would. I brought My car into them six months ago to get front and back brakes. For the last month or so I've been having brake noise so I took it to my personal mechanic and after 16,000 miles all my brake pads are worn and my rotors are heat scarred. My mechanic says that my back brakes were probably not even replaced and were from the factory when I first bought the car. So brake check robbed me of back brakes. My rotors were at the minimum and they did not tell me or offer to replace them. So that is why my brake pads were out so fast and ruined the rotors. I even brought in the old brake pads so that they could look at them and compare them. They didn't care. I took a video of my mechanic stating what was wrong and that also made no difference because they are the competition which they are not. I went to brake check in Cedar Park and Derek was nice but not willing to do anything. The other manager was blatantly rude and also not willing to accommodate me in anyway. I'm sorry but I think $380 for front and back brakes that I may or may not have gotten that are worn out after six months of driving and 16,000 miles is an absolute joke. I will never go to them again. I warn anyone needing a break job to cough up the extra few bucks and go to the dealership or do them yourself if you know how to do that kind of thing. But I'm a woman and I don't know how to change my brakes and I'm sure I look like a pushover and they took full advantage of me! I won't ever be returning to this place. I don't know if it's their parts or their craftsmanship, but my car is so much worse than before I took it in to Brake Check. My car had gotten to the point where the brakes were squeaking pretty loudly, so I knew I had to get it in to get them done. Brake Check supposedly replaced all of the brake pads and resurfaced all of the rotors. Well, driving it around the next day it was making an awful grinding noise. My wife called them and got it scheduled to go back in the following day. Once we got there, the employee intercepted us in the parking lot, and after re-explaining to him what we were hearing, (and without him taking the car in and looking at it, test driving it himself, or anything else) told us that it was completely normal, that it's the result of some sort of glaze on the brakes, that every car does it, but he could resurface them again or do whatever we wanted him to do. Thanks but no thanks. We didn't want to give this place another dime of our money, so we left. Especially since they clearly won't even give their customer the time of day to actually look at the problems they are telling them about. The worst part? A week later, MY BRAKEA ARE SQUEAKING AGAIN. It's very clear that this place either doesn't know how to do their job, or they don't do it well. I'll be taking my car to another shop to get them done the right way. Clearly went over oil change, then while being worked on after two hours agreed to do front rotor resurfacing. Did not show work that was done till after I paid, which I had to ask for. Charged me an extra 139.99 for front brakes which I did not need. Previous brakes were in great condition, which is why I told them not to replace. I went to Brake Check in Cedar Park on 5-7-22. I won't be going back again because I had to fix my brakes when I got home. This is the reason for the 1 star. I was not going to take my truck back because I no longer trust them and was worried they may mess something else up. I've changed my brakes and performed almost all of my vehicle repairs/maintenance all my life. I am getting a bit older now; so I figured I would let someone else do it. I will take it somewhere else next time. I drove my truck home and when I got out the smell of burning brake pads hit me. Normally, a little smell from minor friction, due to reduced pad/rotor clearance can be expected when you out on new pads, but not to this extent. I visually checked everything and found both back rotors where blued badly from the friction/heat. Also, standing roughly a foot or two from the wheel, it was hot like standing next to a campfire. That is not normal. I also noticed that my truck would not roll on its own when in Drive/Reverse. I had to press the gas a good amount to get it to roll. I also verified that the parking brake was not applied; since the rear brakes were the main issue. I found that they most likely didn't open the bleed valves on the back of the brake cylinders when removing them. When you then drop in those new thick pads, you lose all clearance. That is if you can even get it back together without bleeding off the pressure to release the pistons a bit. The dust caps were dirty and didn't seem touched. The tell tale sign was when I opened the bleed valves on the rear brakes and brake came squirting out on its own, with no pressure being applied to brake pedal. It should have simply dripped from gravity. They would not be under pressure like that if they were bled upon removal. All was good after that. The truck rolled again when put in gear and actually stopped quite a bit better as well. Probably because the front brakes were now getting a chance to engage, because the rear brakes were no longer "permanently applied"; due to zero clearance. My rear rotors are now blued, but at least the damage has been halted. read more

Turns out they put on the incorrect parts so had to redo the job after I had already gotten there. Been waiting about an hour now when I was told 15 minutes tops. Superb service by Cameron and Dillon, even at 4pm on a Sunday, at BC Cedar Park on 183A and Whitestone. They thoroughly inspected the brake system on my 2016 Kia Cadenza with 75K miles, and carefully explained all they noticed and recommended. Fortunately, all I needed was a standard 4W Disc job (machine rotors, new pads n clips), and a brake fluid flush. Can't beat the price, with lifetime pad n clip replacement, for about $365 ($183/axle) plus about $60 for the flush (costs after10% new customer discount applied auto-magically via the Brake Check on-line appointment scheduler (AMAZING tool), before sales tax). Convenient, quick (2 hours...wow), informative, courteous, quality parts and work, PLUS a very noticeable improvement in my car's braking performance! I was told after they completed the alignment that I needed a new tire instead of an alignment which is basically tricking me into paying for an alignment that I honestly don't think I needed. & I wasn't aware of the lump in my tire when I brought my car in for an alignment. Get in my car & drive off & my oil life display in the car is still at 12% like it was when I arrived for the service. NO NO NO! We took our vehicle in and was told we needed a new wheel stud and new axle, so we had it done. When we picked it up and drove away it immediately was making loudest noise from wheel and alignment or something else was clearly wrong. I convinced my husband to take it to a reputable dealership to have it looked at, which confirmed that none of the work was done correctly. Axle nut was not tightened and the caliper and internal wheel components were moving when they should not and causing damage. read more

I insisted that they could machine them straight, long story short I was referred to BRAKE CHECK and the manager Oscar answer my question by showing me how they correct the warped rotors and they did the same procedure on my car and now drives and stops like new Smooth and and easy! I'm very happy to found Brake Check, I'm aware now of the negative reviews and I'm glad I didn't see them, because I had a good time watching how it's done, JOSE did an Excellent brake job. I'd give zero stars if possible. I had a screeching noise coming from my from tires and was told initially that replacing the break pad would resolve the issue. Not long after, the noise came back. I was then told I needed to replace the rotors. A week later, the noise came back again. They then told me to take my car to the Maxima Dealership since it was a suspension issue. Nissan said that the hardware wasn't good quality. Keep in mind, this is a 2020 with low mileage. Don't bother with corporate. Look into small claims court instead. read more

HORRIBLE experience. My $40,000 truck needed a routine oil change. Somehow my TRANSMISSION fluid was completely drained, my oil filter never replaced, and the tech still pumped another 7.9 quarts of oil into my engine. TWICE the amount of oil in my engine and and a failing transmission later they keep offering less and less to make it right. What a nightmare. Unless you like exploring every avenue with the BBB and Attorney General possible and still end up hiringan attorney, steer clear of these idiots.
