I'm just going to ask that you be cautious and get multiple opinions (especially our women who go get services done alone). I had an appointment for 8 am and all I needed was a brake inspection. At 8:45 it looked like they hadn't even started. I watched the mechanic take walk-ins and have thorough conversations with everyone else but with me, he simply took my keys. He didn't ask about concerns or why I was worried about my breaks on a 2-year-old car with average mileage. At 8:45 I asked if he knew where they were in the process, I scheduled such an early appointment because I had to work at 9:30. He came back ten minutes later and told me that I would basically need to replace everything. I have a little bit of car knowledge and I knew this was a bit extreme. Austin roads and drivers are bad but not that bad. The dealership also agreed with my thought process. I went to another shop and they informed me, and actually showed me, that nothing was wrong with my brake pads, rotors, etc. They were exactly where they should be at this time. So again, be cautious, get multiple opinions. If all of that stuff had been wrong, it's not bad pricing, but they will blow you off, not check your car, and then take your money. read more

Well I took them at their word. That was a mistake. I took in my car and said I know I need new brakes and struts, but I can only do the front two. This cost me just under $600 . It is one year later, and I took my car in to get the back breaks done. Same price for the back breaks but , after one year the front breaks and struts apparently need to be replaced again. Avoid This Location - Poor Service, Overpriced Parts, and Zero Accountability We brought one of our fleet trucks here three months ago for new brake pads and rotors. Fast forward to now, and those same pads were already worn out and the rotors had to be replaced again. We were also told brake hoses now needed replacement, which should have been addressed during the original visit. Tyrell, communicated and confirmed the truck would be ready in less than 2 hours. We arrived at 7:30 for a scheduled apt. The truck was rolled into the bay by 7:40, and we sat there with no updates for hours. We finally asked for a status update at 11:40, only to be told they were still waiting on parts. Even worse, Tyrell, the lead tech said he was going to wait until noon to check if the part would arrive. When he finally did, he told us the part wouldn't come until after Tuesday, something that should've been communicated before any work started. That decision should've been ours to make. We were charged $87.78 for a single brake hose that costs $31.03 at Advance Auto, almost triple the price. On top of that, the truck sat in their shop from 7:40, but the actual work timestamp was 9:43am to 1:55pm. That's a lot of wasted time for a "2-hour" job. We escalated the issue to Gerald, the VP on site, who offered no apology, no accountability, and no solution. just the excuse that they're "doing the best they can" with part availability. That doesn't excuse poor communication, inflated prices, or parts that fail in under three months. This experience was disappointing from start to finish. The biggest issues: Work was promised and not delivered on time Partial work was completed due to missing parts. We weren't informed that parts weren't available before work began. No proactive communication--we had to ask for every update. Price gouging on basic parts. Went here because I had a lifetime alignment. I was told by the technician he couldn't align the front end. Because he couldn't loosen the inner tie rod end. The inner tie rod end doesn't adjust it. The outer end is what you adjust with. So right from the start im being lied to. And the manager got in my truck to pull it on the ramp. My truck smelled horrible for over a week. Took my car in to get simple alignment they called me back 2 hours later saying the weren't able to complete the alignment due the "bolts being stuck" they still charged me for the alignment. Despite being a small building, they get super busy quickly. Probably due to being near the highway. Anyways, that bring me to the only reason for the half star ding. Due to their busy nature, updates by phone were hard to get. My partner and I called a few times to stay in the loop. But as I mentioned earlier, they were done when they said they would be. What I really enjoyed was the text alerts during the diagnostic period keeping me up to date about the progress. This was a few years back but they literally stole $100 out of my car's little secret compartment. They also tried to gouge me for money claiming my vehicle needed tons more work than it actually probably did. I had mentioned I only had that cash in my car and a little on my card so I couldn't afford the hundreds more they were asking for. I ended up paying with my card and noticed right after I left that my cash was missing. I was gonna use it for groceries after I left and it was gone. Manager claimed it was only him and one other guy in my car for a short period of time (which had to have been a lie considering they changed and moved around everything inside) and denied they took my money. I knew where I kept it and hadn't even made it to the store yet when I noticed the money missing. So no. I do not recommend going here. I took my car into this place about 3 months and about 19,000 miles ago and I spent over $600 getting repairs. Part of my repairs included an alignment, new front rotors and all of my brake pads replaced. A few days ago I went back because I was having problems with my brakes again. They told me that I need rear rotors and rear brake pads. They also asked me when was the last time I got an alignment because I was due for one. I told the guy that they did an alignment 3 months ago. When I asked him why needed rear brake pads after 3 months, he told me that they were due because I put 19,000 miles on them. Then he hung up while I was still talking. I sent a message to Brake Check's complaint department and they responded by giving me a phone number to contact them. I emailed back by saying that I plan to get a second opinion, then I'd like to call. Well...... The mechanic from a local garage told me that I needed new front rotors and front brake pads. He also thinks that an alignment was never performed. I'm very confused as to what Brake Check actually did 3 months ago and I'd like to know why they suggested getting my rear rotors and brakes replaced again. Somethings not right. I emailed the person from the complaint department and I've called her twice. So far, I've received no response from her. I would really appreciate my money back for the front rotors and brake pads back. Obviously they were never replaced or they were faulty. I'd also appreciate my money back for the alignment that was probably never performed. I hope Brake Check does the right thing. read more

Went to this Brake Check because it was the only one with available time slots near my house. We had a great experience: the manager was very friendly and was able to explain everything in detail (he even showed me my old brake pads and compared them with new ones). The price was less than half of what I had been quoted by another mechanic the day earlier, and I got a discount for scheduling the appointment online. It did take a little bit longer than expected to swap out my brake pads, but according to the manager it was because they got really busy unexpectedly. It didn't bother me because he was nice about the whole thing, and he even recognized me when I showed up to pick up the car. It's only been one day since my brake pads were replaced, but so far there is no more squeeking or grinding. Job well done. read more

In good faith, I brought my older Chevy pickup in for a routine oil change and alignment. Not knowing, I left the station following the service with a pretty consistent oil leak. Having noticed the oil leaking, I called the station up the next day to advise of my finding and was told to bring my truck back for inspection. I did, and following my inspection I was told that my truck had been leaking oil for ages and that it wasn't, "now" leaking from any wrong doing of theirs. Even after trying to explain that my truck wasn't leaking oil prior to bringing it there, the workers and management insisted that the truck was leaking prior to the service. Fast forward 3 months, 4 quarts of oil and several soiled parking spots later... I finally take my truck ELSE WHERE, (which is what I recommend you do) for the same routine oil change only to be told that the reason my truck had consistently been leaking oil was because BREAK CHECK decided to put, not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 seals to try to close the drain plug because someone couldn't the 1 seal out in order to replace it properly. Then, when I came back over to Break Check to show them the evidence, I was made to look incompetent and crazy. Not once did anyone consider my worth as a consumer and consider the fact that the procedure taken to service my truck the first time around was wrong. Tyrell will recommend getting new rotors and pads even if you don't need them. My car is newer model with low miles and Now there low quality parts make loud grinding/hovering noises. I've been back 4-5 times and they still can't fix the issue. They tried to tell me it's a wheel bearing but I took my car to Toyota for diagnostic and every came back fine. Dealer told me the brakes are making noises due to low quality parts. They refuse to give me a refund. At one point they made me wait 3 hours with an appointment till closing time and told me bring it back the next day since they couldn't get to it. Beware!! read more

I'm not sure what happened on a Friday when I took my 2016 Toyota Tacoma to this Brake Check unfortunately they forgot to put my air filter in my vehicle and I was nervous for about two weeks why was I hearing rattling from the engine so one day when I was at work one of my employees car would not start so I opened up my hood to pass him a jump from my vehicle to his and my employee told me I did not have an air filter and the box where the air filter would rattle when I would turn off the engine. I'm a female I really thought these boys working at this Break Check would not let my vehicle go out the door without a air filter knowing that that could mess up my engine. I really don't write reviews but this being an experience that I went through I feel it's very important that if you feel something is wrong right away check because that means something is really wrong when you know how your vehicle sounds because you drive it every day. The manager there was nice and so when I was there to get all the brakes done on my truck I felt comfortable that a company called BRAKE Check would do a good job. I was there on a Saturday and had an appointment for FIVE hours and ran about $430. (I got an oil change too). I had had some shaking when I braked at a certain speed and within days it was back. They got me back in quickly and after 2 hours I was back on the road at no cost. That time. Days later it was happening yet again. I took it back and they said I needed new rotors on the back so I had to pay for the parts, (they didn't charge me labor and discounted the rotors), and so I was back on the road after sitting there 3 hours on a work day. read more

This business deserves zero stars. This is the worst experience I have ever had with car repair! They are unprofessional and after 3 hours of waiting nothing was done to my vehicle. I had an appointment at 11am. It was 12pm before they completed just the inspection. After that Alan the manager told me it would take an hour and a half. After 1.5 hours they had done zero work. When I questioned the person in charge, Anthony he became hostile and started he didn't have to listen to me. He also said that the work my car needed took longer than 1.5 hours anyway. He then proceeded to demand I leave instead of answering my questions. I said I'd leave happily once he put my car back together! It was still in the lift where it was placed at noon. He said that I shouldn't be in the bay. However, the only reason I went in there was to check on my car because I saw no work being done plus I saw two other unescorted customers in the work area. He completely lost control. One of the techs had to help me and was actually very polite and apologetic of Anthony's behavior. I just don't understand how they could keep working around a vehicle in a lift and not wonder if they should work on it before they took other jobs!? The only excuse Anthony gave was that the manager, Alan (the one who checked me in) only worked a half day that day and was gone. After all this I still didn't have the needed break job. I took my car here for the first oil change because it was convenient... close to home and they had availability for an oil change. Then I found out that you get your fourth oil change free so me and my husband were excited about that! Took my car in for the second oil change and was a little disappointed. I knew my brake fluid was low and thought they would top it off for me, and the weather has been extremely cold lately so I was hoping that my tire pressure would be checked. When I asked if they did those things he said no.. his exact words, "your tire pressure light isn't on so we don't need to check your tire pressure." I feel like those two things are pretty standard... especially if I'm paying $70+ for an oil change! After I get my free fourth oil change I will be finding somewhere else to go read more

We were driving home from Austin to Dallas. And there was a pop and then the next time I hit the brakes, there was an awful grinding noise. We got off the highway and started to stop at brake places. As it was after 5pm, the first two we stopped at were closed. We stopped at Brake Check, and they were closing for the night, only two staff members remained. They said to us they could fix our brakes in the morning as they were done for the day. I said we were from out of town. They then said they would take a look and see what they could do. They then did a pretty big brake repair/replacement on our car, after closing. The customer service and the attitude of the employees at this place was fantastic. Both gentlemen went above and beyond to help us get back on the road again. I have no real concept if the price was higher or lower than if we had the brakes replaced in a non emergency situation, but getting back on the road and not having to stop in town overnight and have all of us miss a day of work and school was worth any extra we may or may not have paid. We also got a lifetime of the ownership of the car warranty on the work. I was so impressed, I would actually drive down to Austin to get my brakes worked on. I have been a regular customer for the last 5 years. I went in for alignment yesterday and had them check out my oil leak. Turns out that stupid car wash Mister Car Wash that changes oil left the nut loose and it wasn't even hand tightened. Anyways, my car is running like new again and alignment is perfect. I have had really good luck with the staff at this particular location, they are honest and don't suggest nonexistent issues to jack up your bill. I bought the lifetime alignment program and recommend it if they still have it. This is a great place to have minor car repairs done and way cheaper than Audi and some of the others. Never had a problem, staff is super friendly and keeps in touch with you should they recommend any other repairs. Never gotten an outrageous bill. Will continue to be a loyal customer. I went there to get my tires rotated, aligned and balanced. They started work in the car right away..when they had the front tires down, they called me in to discuss the issue. The tires were old and losing the steel belt firmness which meant the alignment wouldn't stay long. John instead suggested that I get new tires and refused money for the work done to get the tires off and on the machine.
