Where do I start explaining this nightmare. I didn't have appointment and dropped it off at 1130, when I walked in I waited while Amelia (store manager) was talking about personal conversations, right off the bat it felt as if I didn't matter, at least 5 people sitting there without acknowledgment. As I explained my situation with my brakes making a noise and a oil change, Amelia who helped me said you are ok to wait after we diagnose the problem. I waited for 45 minutes until I realized it was going to be awhile and I get it, I didn't have a appointment so I accepted that. I took a uber to the mall to waste time. They finally call me around 2:45 and tell me the issues, needing new whole package with the back breaks. I accepted the work order, and they started on it I assume at that time. I arrive around 4:30 and see the car is up on the rack, Darius the store manager as he stated, went back to check on my car, I watched the mechanic that was working on it approach him and they went off to the side out of view. Darius comes back to say the car is done, but the parking brake is not working and suggested to come back in a few days. I told him I had to work, but he also suggested the parking break was like that when I came, he followed me out and I put on the parking brake and it went all the way up with no resistance. I looked at him and he realized he tried to the pass the car back to me like this. I told him to have some integrity and I am not unreasonable, just want my car back with the work done properly. I watched them test drive it twice and put it back on the rack several times trying to fix the parking break. Darius said he was a master mechanic and could fix it. But at 5:00 pm, he disapeared and left for the day and did not come back to tell me they were having issues. Brian the only real good guy who told me the truth that they were struggling with it. Its 6 oclock and they finish the car. When I got into it, the gear was in drive, the power of the car was on as if they were in a hurry to get off work. I paid my bill and drove about a half of mile unitl I heard a dragging noise, I get off the freeway and see they did not connect the undercarraige and it was completely hanging off. I drove back to the store to find they are closed of course, could not find the key drop anywhwere. So my girlfriend takes me to work and goes to drop off the key the next morning. I called the store to have Amelia answer, I explained what had happened, in a surprise who stated she worked there 11 years and never ever seen this. I told her to read yelp because your name is all over the place, she was obvious hired for this situation, lying, rude and defensive, basically clean up all the crappy work they do. She gaslights me, I told her to please attach the carriage please and would like a refund for the labor so I could another place to fix the parking brake. She responded to let me get my master mechanic on it, but at that point after Darius the master mechanice he claimed, I wanted no part of it, the trust was gone. She did not like that I called her out on if you read yelp to see all the reviews of things gone wrong at that store which contradict her poor excuse for the bad work done. Her tone because aggresive and nasty and said I can put all the old parts back on the car, I said sure, then she said it would take awhile and said have a good day sir and hung up on me. This is a horrible experience, and very dishonest people with no integrity or concious to do there jobs right. As I was in the waiting room, I saw several people vaping and unprofessinal. I would avoid this place at all costs, not honest people in any form. I now have to pay another mechanic to look over all the shotty work they have done to my car, the humming sound was still there when I brake. Be careful folks I think the Amelia who runs the place spends more time insulting and being rude to customers than making them feel like there trusted. I have seen this type of employee before, she is hired to gaslight, protect bad work and make you go into insantiy. A simple rear brake job and oil change turned into a real nightmare, they have no idea what they are doing The Brakemaster is not a master at anyting but take your money and sub par work. Its sad no one is very skilled anymore and is replaced with gasligithing people to try and make you feel as if its your fault. Brakemaster created the issue then trys to turn it around on the customer. They have no intergrity and hang around the shop as if its there clubhouse rather a place of buisness. Very scary if you ask me. Find a personal mechanic who does good work. At the end of the day, my car was worse off than I took it in, is that a good outcome? I get a text to call the store and the charming and unknowledgeable Amelia lets me know she ignored my request to not do anything but attach the undercarage she found the noise problem. i went in for a brake pads. They inspect and female manager tells me brake fluid is leaking into the cylinder and needs to be replaced, you shouldnt be driving it like that, and she estimates thousands in repair. I take my car to Roseville toyota, pay the 250 for dealer-service inspection and they tell me your brake system is good, no leaks whatsoever and pads are near the point of needing replacement but not quite yet. So it turns out this Brakemaster location was just lying about what i needed, they probably do nothing and pocket the the difference you pay. read more

I went to Brake Masters for a routine oil change this week, and what should have been a simple visit turned into a very concerning experience. After the service, I was told I needed multiple additional repairs: a coolant change, an alignment, and replacement of both front lower control arms due to "cracking." This immediately raised red flags. My last alignment was perfect, and I've driven less than 4,000 miles since then. While I understand my car is 10.5 years old, it only has 66,400 miles, so I decided to get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. At another shop, not only did they take photos, but they invited me into the service area to personally inspect my car. They clearly showed me that there were no issues with either of the front control arms. Concerned, I called Brake Masters to address the discrepancy. The person who identified herself as the manager, Michelle, insisted their diagnosis and photos were correct--even after I explained that I had personally seen my car and confirmed there was no problem. What made this even more troubling was that she claimed to be "looking at my photos" before I had even identified myself on the phone. That raises serious questions about their process and credibility. To make matters worse, the conversation ended with her hanging up on me, which is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Based on this experience, I strongly question the integrity of their inspections and recommendations. I would advise others to always seek a second opinion before approving any major repairs here. And today I took the car to Subaru dealer to have the CVT oil drain and refill. They told me my car was in excellent condition. I brought my 2017 Ford Explorer to Brake Masters on 2/21/26 for a free brake inspection. About an hour later, I was called by Amelia and told I did not in fact need brakes, but instead needed a $3,800 water pump replacement. I was told by Amelia that: * My coolant reserve tank was empty * They had done both a visual inspection and a pressure test * They would "top off" the reserve tank and send me home with a jug of coolant while I decided what to do When I picked up the car, I confirmed again with the front desk employee that a pressure test had been performed. I did not think at this time to check the reserve tank before I left the shop, as Amelia also assured me I could make my scheduled trip to San Francisco with this leaking water pump on 2/25.... Once home, I placed cardboard under the engine to catch any coolant leaks and prevent a mess in my garage, assuming the reserve was "topped off" and would be leaking overnight. The next morning: * Not a single drop of coolant on the cardboard * The reserve tank was completely bone dry If a pressure test had actually been done, coolant would have been added. If it had drained overnight, there would have been evidence of a leak. There was none. I added coolant myself and drove from Roseville to Elk Grove. The level dropped slightly -- expected since I filled it cold. I topped it off again and drove back to Roseville with no abnormal loss. Because this water pump was replaced two years ago, I took the vehicle back to the mechanic who performed that work in January 2024 and asked him to pressure test it. Results: * No leak * No evidence of a leak * Pressure held steady at 18 PSI for over 10 minutes I was also reminded of something basic but important: coolant does not evaporate. If the reserve tank is empty, either there is a leak -- or the system was drained. We confirmed three separate ways that there was no leak. That leaves only one explanation for why the reserve tank was empty when I picked up my car... After this experience, I read multiple similar reviews describing upselling and scare tactics at this location. Given that this year/model is known for water pump issues, it feels very clear they were counting on me not questioning a costly diagnosis, and attempting to scam me not just by flat out LYING, but by also DRAINING my reserve tank. Thankfully, my momma didn't raise no dumby and I went for a second opinion before pulling the trigger with this shop for an unnecessary $3800 repair that they very easily could have "done" and not actually done any work at all, and I would be none the wiser. I'm grateful I have a trustworthy mechanic who verified the truth. For anyone reading this -- especially women -- please get a second opinion before authorizing expensive repairs. I called Brake Masters at 8:34 a.m. and spoke with Amelia. I asked if they had any available appointments, and she told me they were not busy and to bring my vehicle in. I said I could have it there within 15 minutes, and she told me that would be fine. I dropped off my minivan shortly afterward and expected a call with an estimate once it had been inspected. Hours went by and I never heard anything. At 12:24 p.m., I called for an update and was told my vehicle was "next" and that I should hear from them shortly. After waiting even longer with no communication, I called back at 2:59 p.m. Amelia put me on hold for 11 minutes before a man named Brian got on the phone. When I explained I was simply calling for a status update, Brian responded that they would get to my vehicle "when they can." Rather than providing an update or explanation, he began arguing with me about a conversation he wasn't even part of that morning. I then asked to speak with the manager and found out that Amelia was the manager. She told me they had a lot of appointments and again stated that my vehicle was "next"--the same thing I had been told over two and a half hours earlier. At that point, they had my vehicle for over 6 hours and 15 minutes and had not even looked at it. What frustrated me most was the lack of transparency and communication. Instead of simply being honest about delays, Amelia became argumentative and ultimately refused service because I questioned why I had been told multiple times that my vehicle was next when it clearly wasn't. I have four children under the age of 12, and our minivan is essential for our family. Had they been upfront about their schedule, I could have made other arrangements. Instead, my entire day was wasted waiting for updates that never came. I've worked in customer service myself, and this was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Based on this experience, I would not recommend doing business here. If Amelia is the manager representing this company, that is concerning. The kid that put my back right tire on, impact torqued the nuts on four of the rivets so tight, misthreaded them, that they broke off when we had to get them off at a different place. We have been customers for many years and have always referred family and friends here, but recently the service has declined drastically. We brought my car in for oil change and tire rotation in 2/2024. When we picked up the car it was clear the tires were not rotated, even though our paperwork showed we requested the tires be rotated. Brake Masters would not confirm or deny if tires were rotated but said we could bring the car back in if we wanted. We were leaving for vacation and did not have time to bring the car back. We were frustrated but let it go. As loyal customers, we scheduled another oil change for today, 7/12/2024 at 10:30 am. We dropped the car at our scheduled appointment time and again requested an oil change and tire rotation in preparation for another road trip. At 1:30 pm we had not heard from Brake Masters. When we called we were told there were two cars in front of us and it would be another hour and a half. No explanation or apology was given. Really!? Why accept appointments if you aren't willing to prioritize the cars that are scheduled, or minimally communicate with your customers about delays? 4.5 hours for a scheduled oil change is unacceptable. Scam alert! My normal mechanic was booked out more than a month, so I figured I could go to a local shop just to get my breaks done. Fairly easy job on my F-150. Boy was I wrong! This shop is a scam. Not only did they want me to do over $3k in repairs, they then would not honor a coupon from their own website for the break job. I won't ever be back to this place! They are scammers! I watched them try to rack up multiple multi thousand dollar jobs as I sat there. Don't go! Trust me! I have since taken my truck to Ford. Ford verified that there was nothing leaking from my struts. They also verified that my brake fluid was not changed, even though I paid for it. I called and spoke with Brian on 4/24 about getting a quote for front and rear brakes for my car. Brian stated that he would want to perform a brake inspection and I told him I had just had one and provided him with that information. He asked me a few more questions, I gave him the information and he said he would call me back with a quote. He never called back. So I called yesterday 5/5 and spoke with Amylya. Amylya stated that I would need to bring in my car for a brake inspection so she could quote properly and we made an appointment for 2:30 today. When I got to the location, there were three reps at the front desk - Brian, Amylya and another gentleman whose name I didn't catch. There was a customer being helped by Brian and Amylya was on her computer looking something up - without ever looking at me she said she would be with me in a few minutes. So I waited and when the customer Brian was helping left, I stated that I had an appt. Not one of the three asked me with who or for what - just kept on doing what they were doing. (Apparently there was some confusion about a Honda part that they all had to be involved with.) I did not say another word and just stood there waiting. The gentleman then asked what he could do for me and I told him I had an appt for a brake inspection. He wrote up a $0 estimate and I signed it. What I didn't notice (and never asked for) was a multipoint inspection. So after about 35 minutes of them having my car I noticed my hood was up and asked why my hood would be up for a brake inspection. I'm not a mechanic so wondered. This is when the BS began with Brian and Amylya. Brian went to get the estimate I had signed and when he brought it back he asked if that was my signature (in a very condescending manner) I said yes - he then showed me where it said Brake Inspection and written beneath it was the word multipoint - I don't know if that was on the original estimate or if he had added it when I asked the question about my hood being up. Brian then yelled at me "this is a contract - a CONTRACT!!" Someone may want to educate Brian - an estimate is NOT A CONTRACT. Amylya then yelled at me that looking at brake fluid is part of the inspection. I told Brian there was no need to be a condescending prick and told him to give me my car. Then they both got up in arms and both of them were yelling at me - Amylya said when I stated I had an appt that I had attitude- so I flipped them both off, went outside and waited for my car key. I went over to where my car was on the lift (stayed outside of the work area as my car was easy to see) and heard Brian tell a worker that had been near my car to not give me the key because I needed to sign something. I also heard Amelya tell someone to call Roseville PD (I wish they would have as they were clearly IN THE WRONG). So that took another 5 or so minutes. I went inside one last time, Brian handed me my key and said "Have a nice day" clearly sarcasm. I will NEVER go back to this horrible unfriendly establishment ever again and will tell everyone I know about the abhorrent customer service from Brian and Amylya. This place used to be great in the last year quality has really slipped when they do brakes they have squeaking issues and they seem to have been sloppy they must have checked the engine air filter and did not replace it leaving me without any filter for engine which caused issues I had to take it to another place which corrected the brake squeaks as they used cheap parts and mount it improperly and filter was discovered missing there. This place plays the game of giving you an estimate to approve and then stringing you along afterward with new issues that pop afterward that they say they didn't know about. This happens even though they supposedly give a " free brake inspection" to begin with to identify issues. I'm the type of person who often takes my car to the dealer because I figure they specialize in my type of car and work on them constantly. That's my theory, anyway, and the dealer I go to usually does a good job. I diverge from that principle in two situations - tires and brakes. With these two categories, the things being worked on are pretty much the same on all vehicles and I'd rather go with someone who fixes brakes or tires all day long - I consider them "specialists" in those areas... and I've found that they're a little less expensive than dealers as well. So that's how I ended up here after my car started making noises that sounded like a brake related problem. I'll admit I did check into getting an appointment at the dealer, but they were booked solid for a couple of days and I didn't want to wait. These guys said they'd be happy to take me in, so I headed down. Very busy! Turns out my car was one of the last ones they finished up right at closing time. Service was great! I brought it in at the time I said I would and gave them my keys and signed the form. I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes, which is a good bit more than an hour but not a huge deal. When they finally call my name to let me know what they found out, the manager just says "come back tomorrow and we can get this work done for you" and I say "okay what needs to be done?" And he says "I am not the truck inspector, so I can't give you an educated answer. He is busy all day today with a project." These people had me sitting in their lobby for almost 2 hours, just to let me know they had done nothing and want me to come back tomorrow. SCAMMERS- HIGHWAY ROBBERY! I would give Minus -5 stars if possible. First time I went 16 months ago and asked all rotors and brake pads to be changed on my Suburban. They ended changing only pad and said they saved me $300 bucks as they buffed the rotors. Upon my insistence they said the rotors had nothing wrong. Come now the brakes sounded weird and for 2 rotors change they charged $490 which itself was misguiding me in first place. But to top it off they offered to diagnose check engine light and I refused so they Short my battery to a point and dragged their feet to jump start and said it failed jump start finally suggesting I change battery from them or tow my car. Brake Masters on Fairway Dr. told me that the oil pan for my Ford F150 was leaking and had to be replaced. I authorized the replacement for $1100, about six months ago. In July 2025 Brake Masters told me that the turbo charger for my F150 was leaking and had to be replaced, for an estimated $2500. So, I went to the Ford dealership and asked their opinion. They said there was nothing wrong with the turbo charger, it did not have to be replaced. However, the oil pan gasket was leaking and had to be replaced. Oil pans on F150 are one time use only parts so unfortunately there is no repair that can be done to the existing pan. Also the pan that Brake Masters installed was an aftermarket pan which I requested only OEM parts be used. Therefore, the gaskets on this aftermarket pan Was the root cause for the oil leaking from the pan. Therefore, I had to have the oil pan replaced again. When I contacted the manager of Brake Masters, to inquire about the warranty for the old oil pan, she told me that I was lied to by the Ford dealership. And that the oil pan was not a one time use only part. Further, she said the warranty on the pan she replaced was voided because I had it replaced by another supplier. I will no longer deal with Brake Masters on Fairway Drive for my oil changes and brake service. And certainly not any other engine repairs. The Future Ford dealership can provide the same services for the same or less money, and it will be done correctly, and they will stand behind their work. I highly recommend no one use Brake Masters for any repairs on their vehicle. They will not stand behind their work, which I have found to be substandard. read more

What was supposed to take 45 minutes to an hour took 90 minutes. They said sorry for the wait and gave me a $20 discount. I come home and realize they actually have a coupon on their website for $89.95. The coupon also says regular price is $109.95. So now you can imagine how I feel about having paid $129.95.
