The cheap discount on the oil change was the only reason why I came to this place. However the hispanic guy that was working at the counter at this location was rude, hateful, and unprofessional. I forgot his name but it was a while back. I've had a bad experience at a different Brake Masters in the past also. The one on Newhall almost got me killed with their negligence when they installed the spring perch on my Eibach shocks upside down. Luckily was able to spot it after several days of driving around. I made them fix it, but they didn't offer any discount for screwing up. Overall this is a corporate chain and the mechanics that work for Brake Masters are there to just collect a paycheck. read more

Went in with my daughters car on Saturday. Walked in (after making an appointment at 1 pm) and was not greeted. Ok, I waited 5 min in the lobby. Still no one. Went to the garage where 2 me were sitting, on their phones. They told me the manger, Ben, was on the phone. Waited another 30 minutes. I asked them if this was normal practice. A customer comes in WITH AN APPOINTMENT and is not even acknowledged. Ben finally lumbers out. He's wiping his face with a greasy napkin. DISGUSTING. He aggressively says "what's your problem? Why are you rushing everyone?" I stated my concerns (I've been there 30 min). He then says, "it's like a doctors office. Sometimes you wait". Uhhhh, LOL. Sir, the medical professionals would be insulted. What a joke. A doctor you most certainly are NOT. Maybe visit one and get on some type of low cholesterol diet as your waistline and greasy face indicate it's in high order. Disgusting disgraceful place. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I probably shouldn't have had air conditioner work done at a brake shop. Two of my co-workers recommended this place for being fairly priced and good. They were super friendly, super nice, super attentive, I can't say enough positive about the customer service and the personalities that work there, I really liked them and they are fair. Unfortunately they were unable to fix my problem. I went around and around for over a month with them. I finally caved and took it to my dealership, the dealership told me that there were all these over torqued parts and things that were leaking basically a mess of my AC system the brake master has supposedly installed brand new an entire system! Of course the shop did give me a refund for the work, which is very conscientious and fair, but it was a LOT of wasted time and being without my car for days at a time as they tried to fix the air conditioner and then trying to fix the problem with the new air conditioner. I would recommend going here for brakes only. I would not go here for anything else although they are really nice people that is why I give three stars read more

When I searched to See if there was a location near my new home, I was surprised at the horrible reviews. Will write a thorough review later since I'm on my phone. Warning! This place is known to deceive and scam you with there services and products. My father had brakes done with "premium", top brakes but found they forced wrong type of brakes and we went to both dealership and our mechanic who said the brakes we're incorrectly installed and potentially dangerous since the pad wouldn't align correctly and will cause brake failure. Second my very own car I changed to the ceramic brake pads. Now a year later I noticed weird vibrations and long distance braking needed. With only 15k driver I was surprised. Found out they installed the cheapest pads and not ceramic pads as I paid for. And yes I went to 3 autoshops and showed me what ceramic pads look like and what cheaper pads look like. They were consistent with their proofs. This is horrible and unethical while endangering the lives of their customers. I have filed a complaint to the BBB and I hope you all believe the bad reviews. The few and little good experiences are not worth the risks. read more

Been taking my car here for oil changes for 3+ years now and still completely happy with their service. Can't beat the $50 full-synthetic oil change! (which they often just give you as a special w/o the coupon) Also had my water pump changed here and have had no issues since. Kind of grateful that I'm seeing similar stories to mine: the sign on the window says LIFETIME BRAKES. I paid for the lifetime warranty in 2015 and said I'd be back whenever they wore out. Fast forward a couple years, I bring the car in for service at the first sign of brake noise. I left the car with the shop; there's one mechanic doing all the work and an older gentleman working the counter, writing invoices. He wrote up my car then stepped out for a smoke. I walked off to a nearby restaurant to get something to eat and left them to work. Two hours later I still hadn't heard from the shop so I walked back. The older gentleman is off around the building again having another cigarette and the lone mechanic has just NOW put my car on the rack. It's almost 5:30pm, this has taken up my afternoon and I've got to get going. I tell the mechanic to take the car off the rack. Nothing was said about the condition of my brakes; instead I was told I needed a set of tires. Bought tires at Discount up the street and came back the following Monday to cash in on my investment in Lifetime Brakes. Guess what? They guarantee the cost of pads ONLY. The resurfacing of the rotors isn't covered, and despite my having spent two afternoons trying to get this done they still want $78 in labor, bringing my bill to $118. I've spent two full afternoon trying to get my car fixed and am handed a $118 repair bill. I walked to a friendly nearby shop. New brakes thru them would be $177. Another shop quoted $182. My advice is skip Brake Masters, spend the extra $66 and keep your time to yourself. read more

I work at store in the mall that sells shoes, I'm supposed to be the face of customer service, but when I went to Breakmasters and spoke to Benjamin, I came to realize that I was given the besf treatment in service I've ever recieved. My daughter was buying a used 2017 civic. The car was certified and from the local Honda dealership. But, she still wanted a third party opinion and a prepurchase inspection on the car. The guys at Brake Masters put it up on the rack, checked the frame, ran a quick scan, checked the suspension, hoses, and fluids. Gave the car a clean bill of health and didn't charge her for it. We would probably get a deep dive inspection from a brand-specific shop if we were buying from a private party or an independent dealership. But this gave her good peace of mind. Then interesting enough, the price drops quickly on one repair. We decided to wait on most of the work, we took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and found out the work suggested did not need to be done. So thankful for these guys, once again. This is the second review I've given, and it's because I had my A/C "fixed" at another shop just 4 months ago, actually the same shop that neglected to notice that the rear wheel on my car was almost off the axle, all the while trying to convince me that my transmission was going and I'd need to spend thousands of dollars with them to fix it. Brake Masters caught it, and it was a minor expense to fix. So this time, they found that the valve on top of the A/C system had been leaking all along, which caused all the freon to eventually leak out from the last "fix". They were able to fix the valve, which had fused to the metal because it had gotten so hot. If they hadn't been able to do that, I would have needed a whole new unit, but again, this turned out to be a very minor expense because they give a damn. Dan worked on my car, as well as a couple of their other techs, super guys. It took all afternoon because they had to heat the valve back up in order to loosen the threads, but it was so worth it! Thankfully, they have wifi. Big thumbs up all around experience the second time around. read more

Was on my way to LA when I realized that my car was feeling a little off. Because I'm such a cautious driver, I hate being on the road knowing that something could go wrong. Therefore, I decided to get off on the next exit and ended up at this location recommending a full inspection before continuing on my road trip. There was a super friendly staff who automatically gave the impression that they knew what they were doing and it was in good hands. After they were finished checking, I was well informed that my car was in need of some anti freeze. The employees quickly put it on and said I was good to go. They did their job in a timely manner and had me on the road in a jiffy! Totally recommend it to anyone who lives in the area or those who are just passing through and experiencing some car trouble. Ok, so a couple months ago I drove to pick up my wife at her work and the car was making a really strange sound. It was coming from the front left tire. It didn't sound like the normal metal on metal grinding sound. So, my wife called Hyundai in Thousand Oaks and made an appointment for the next day which was Saturday. On the freeway that morning, I hit a bump and all of a sudden I heard something hit the under-carriage and then the sound was gone. So we cancelled the appointment. Now, right before Christmas, we went to the Janns Market place for some last minute gifts and the car was making that same sound only this time it was louder and wouldn't stop. So we got on the freeway and went to Hyundai to see if they could just look at it and tell us what the issue was (see my Yelp for Hyundai of Thousand Oaks). After an extremely disappointing jaunt to them, we drove down the street whilst my wife called Brake Masters. The guy on the phone said to come in. When we got there, we told him what happened to us at the Hyundai place and he said he could put it up on the rack right then and there. Unfortunately, the front brakes needed to be replaced. The good news was it was very affordable and David Allen said it could be done in about 45 minutes to an hour. We walked over to Arbys and ate dinner and by the time we got back the car was done. It wasn't even an hour. The service we receive here at Brake Masters was indeed great. I thank David Allen for his kindness and professionalism (which Hyundai could get a training lesson from him). I recommend this place for your brakes, oil changes and anything else you need for your car. We will be going back here anytime we need anything done. read more
