I had a terrible experience with this business. I got a nail in the driver's side rear tire on my Audi. I took the car to Audi in T.O. and they discovered the nail and recommended I bring the car to Tire Man. This was May 22nd, 2026. I arrived at Tire Man and explained the situation to the counter person wearing a white shirt who looked like a manager, and he said they would take care of it. I see people commenting on Yelp how great this business is and how they repair/patch tires often without charge. Well, they charged me $30. I was not offered or provided with a receipt. The very next day, May 23, 2026, I was out driving and the tire warning light came on. I took it to the nearest tire shop, which was in Camarillo. They examined the tire and sprayed it with some solution and showed me that the tire/patch job that Tire Man had done was leaking air. Furthermore, they explained that 1) they would never charge for a patch and 2) a patched tire can't be re-patched for the same puncture. This was after 2pm on Saturday and Tire Man was closed. It's Saturday before a long weekend and lots of tire places are closed, closing or don't have the tire(s) I needed in stock. And I absolutely needed the car for a weekend trip to Paso Robles. So, the tire shop in Camarillo filled the tire up and called shops around T.O. and located a shop that had a replacement tire that would work. I drove to America's Tire in Thousand Oaks. They had a random one-off tire they could sell me, but explained that could and probably would set off the Audi Quattro traction control system. They strongly advised I buy two matching tires (albeit it not the original spec tires on the car, which neither they nor anyplace keeps in stock). So, I ended up buying two new tires from them for $1170. Tire Man incompetently performed a faulty repair/patch that failed (and evidently didn't check the quality of their own repair or they would have detected that it was still leaking air). I have had tires on various cars patched over the years, and this is the first time a patch fails. I returned to Tire Man to discuss with owner/manager Carey, who asked me to see the patched tire (as if I'd be driving around with a dirty, leaking unmounted tire). I don't know about you... But there's nothing like having nice, new, highly rated & a safe set of tires for your ride. Well earlier this year, I was in need of a set. When it comes to needing new tires.... ***Honesty Alert*** ***Honesty Alert*** ***Honesty Alert*** I'll be the first to admit it... My first stop is always (Tire Man you might want to cover your ears)... Costco. Yeah I said! Costco. Upsides: They have good prices, reputable brands and they offer free tire rotations if you get your tires from any Costco. Downsides: Deals on Michelin or Bridgestone tires do rotate, so if you are wanting a specific brand, you might have to wait for the deal on that brand to come back around. Also, The tires you want aren't always readily available, so you may have to special order and if you need tires let's say that day and you're just not able to wait, it may force your hand to get another brand that's not your top preference. And finally, I feel like EVERYONE (and their mother) goes to Costco to get tires, so be prepared to wait! Well this time around for me, the upsides were outweighed by the downsides and so I decided I couldn't wait. As I was driving down the boulevard, I pulled into the Tire Man to check their availability and pricing. Mind you, I've been to the Tire Man in Thousand Oaks before for a different vehicle, but I just didn't think about coming here from the get-go when I needed tires for this vehicle. So I pulled in, parked and was immediately greeted by a gentleman who was out moving a car in the back lot. I let him know I needed some new tires and he told me to meet him inside to see my options. After getting a feel for my driving style and what I wanted out of my tires (longevity vs performance vs comfort of ride), the gentleman recommended a style that fit my needs. I told him I wanted to do a little research first and that I would let him know. He told me to take my time and I appreciated that he was not pushy at all. After doing my research, I went back to the gentleman who assisted me and gave him the green light. I gave him my keys, we shook hands and he said, "my name is Carey, like Jim Carrey". ***While I waited, I took my kids next door to Bo's House of Omelettes & Waffles*** In less than an hour and a half, my ride had brand new tires, an alignment and I was back on the road in style! What I have to say about the Tire Man... Thank you Carey for your honesty, professionalism and making me feel like more than just another customer passing through. I am truly appreciative of your service and I was happy to give you my business. And to those of you looking at reviews of the Tire Man debating on whether or not to proceed.. I recently went to a different repair shop in Thousand Oaks, which will remain unnamed. They quoted me over $850 for front rotors and brake pads. I went to Tire Man in Thousand Oaks and Cary, the owner took care of us, and it cost us a lot less money. He also told us some of the things they said we needed, we didn't actually need - such as a wheel bearing which would have been another $750! Cary saved me a lot of money. They're very honest and straightforward- which as a woman in an industry where women are typically taken advantage of, is a major plus! This a great place to get brakes and tires. If you are looking for customer service this is not the place. Carey the manger is completely unprofessional, rude, aggressive. I talked to three different people to take in my car to get my tires rotated 20 minutes before they closed and they kept denying me. They were giving me 2 different answers on when they stop taking cars and I told Carey the manager, that it's not even closing time which was 2pm on a Saturday. His response was "I already worked enough hours this week I go home at 2. " which is completely unprofessional. I said "dont you think everyone works 40+ hours a week" and he said "look buddy I am going to stop being polite to you" yeah great way to treat your customers. I came in here last year for a tire repair. I asked the guy to make sure they were extra careful with my wheel since they are expensive. He said I'll have to charge you extra. I thought he was joking, he wasn't. I told my husband I would never return, you lost my business. Today my husband walked in to your store and got a quote to install TPMS and the counterman said it would be $30 a tire. When finished he said it was $160. Then proceeded to argue that he would've never quoted him $120 for the job. I'm not surprised since each person I've encountered there has been rude and condescending. I went to Tire Man to get new front tires put on my car, everything seemed to go well, they hade on and out in about 30 minutes... Great. Then I got home and really looked at my front rims(aluminum ) they were discolored and looked messed up (stained). I went back the next morning, and asked Carey, the one who serviced me the day before, about it. Immediately from the jump, Carey got defensive and escalated the situation; blaming me that I brought them in like that. When I pointed out that it was funny how only the front ones, which were the tires I had had replaced, were the rims that were jacked up; he started raising his voice again, saying "let's look at the security camera footage". Carey had also tried to tell me that he only uses soap and water, Carey wipes my back rim with the same solution, and it immediately began to discolor that rim too. I tried to point out that, but Carey said the rims had grease on them... I tried to let him know that it wasn't grease, Carey stormed back into the office. I followed. When the pulled up my car driving in the day before, image to small to validate his claims that it's how I brought it in, he immediately began attacking me verbally saying that the rim looks like it does now (totally unsubstantiated by the lack of visual availability)! When I asked Carey what he was going to do to rectify the situation, he replied "take me to court"... Not only was his behavior and reponse was not only totally unprofessional, but completely unhinged. I knew immediately by his reaction and escalation of the situation that he knew he had something wrong , but his pride had him on the defensive... This business, if it is to continue to be successful, needs to separate themselves from this individual and his unprofessional behavior!!
