Tried to sell me services that weren't needed. I knew the difference but think many folks might not - overcharging for unnecessary repairs

How do I begin to express my fury and rage at the Oro Valley, AZ Brake Masters? I guess I should start from the beginning. Just a few weeks ago we brought our Buick in for repairs. One of these repairs was the air conditioning, which hadn't been working regularly. They told us we needed a new blower motor, put one in, and the total charge for that day was close to $3,000. On July 30, 2015 as we planned a family trip to Scottsdale, I brough the same Buick to the same Brake Masters in Oro Valley to have what they call a trip check. They did that, presumably checked everything, and charged us just over $200. On the night of July 31, after having dinner in Scottsdale, we found the air conditioner - presumably with the new blower motor Brake Masters sold us a few short weeks before - was not working. We had to drive the 15 miles to the hotel with the windows down. Then, in the morning, when the AC still was not working, we had to cut out family trip short so that we could drive back to Oro Valley before it got too hot (on the highway with the windows down). Did I mention we were traveling with two children, 6 and 2? Thus, on August 3, I brought the same Buick back into the Brake Masters in Oro Valley. Oh, they were all apologetic that our trip was ruined. Sure, they were. They examined the AC and said it wasn't a blower motor we had needed after all. Oh, mistakes, they do happen. It was something else our car needed. I don't even know what right now because I'm still furious. I sincerely expected to be charged a minimum, if anything, since they didn't get it right the first time, and this completely ruined our family trip. But no. We were again charged over $200. Today is August 10. One week after Brake Masters in Oro Valley supposedly fixed the air conditioning problem in our Buick for good. Or, at least for more than a week. Well, guess what? This morning, the AC in our Buick is again not working. I am steaming. It has been a long, long time since I've been this angry at an establishment. I am tired of pouring money into the wallets of the crooks at this location. read more

This was my first visit to Brake Masters. They were extremely friendly and informative. Even though they offered a shuttle, I chose to wait and they were very accurate on their time estimate. I will be a repeat customer. read more

The guys here give all my cars great service, I usually come in and get the the express oil change on all 4 of my cars. They have never given me the run around and such as some of the other posts have stated. I would recommend these guys to any of my friends living in the Oro Valley Area. read more

Just went to brake masers for the first time today and it was an efficient, pleasant experience. I had my transmission and differential fluid changed and they did a great, quick job. Al and Cliff were helpful and accommodating. I would recommend this place for sure. read more

Two visits. Two terrible mistakes damaging to my car. The manager stood by his employee dismissing my concern or failing to offer at the very least an apology for the damage. read more

Price deception and rude workers are what I got out of my experience at this shop. Convenient but not worth it.

I have been to this shop many times with 3 different cars, each with their own mechanical issues. Each and every time I am greeted with exceptional customer service, help and recommendations. They inform me of issues with my car I might not know, but I'm never pushed to purchase anymore than I originally intend. I would rate them 6/5 if I could and plan to be back next time I need Car help. read more

Today I went to this store for help installing some sensors in my car so I could pass emissions. I was refered there by another freindly helpful person at a different Brakemasters! These guys were great helpful honest and they took the time to explain things without being condescending. I would recommend them wholeheartedly. I don't know why this place has gotten bad reviews? I had struts replaced on my car and was really happy with the level of service here. They did an awesome job, as a female I am always wary of being hit with unnecessary services and higher price quotes.. it did NOT happen here. They had the best rates in town, fixed my car within the time frame they said they would, super friendly people and made the whole experience as good as it could be and a better price than I thought going in. Really happy with the service and will be going back to this location from now on. read more

He is a very dedicated employee for Brake Masters and takes great care of his customers. These guys are great. I need to drive a long distance next week and went in expecting some transmission work, but they said it was not needed. It had too much fluid and they took care of it. They did some other minor work and it cost a fraction of what I expected. Everyone there was very nice, honest and fun. No attempt at up-selling anything, and they had many opportunities. I will definitely go back to Brake Masters. read more

I've been to BrakeMasters a few times. I'm always treated well. In fact they act like they are glad to see me! The quality of their work is very good. They combine professional with genuinely friendly. There was a minor mistake once and they immediately corrected it. The waiting area is comfy and the atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming I might just go back to hang out. Al is a very good man. read more

Took our car in to find out why the check engine light was on. $187 later they diagnosed it as not knowing why. To make matters worse they charged our debit card twice and are refusing to credit us. We have to head down to our credit union today to file a dispute. read more

Kudos to everyone there, Jeff, Scott, Paul, and Cliff. Could not get my car out of park and had it towed there (just because I had an oil change there before and they did not recommend a new engine like so many other). They got it fixed quickly and called to tell me (not everyone does). I picked it up and ... one day later I can't get it out of park again. I called and was told to have it towed back down because they weren't sure it was the same problem - now I'm seething and running some ideas around when Jeff calls back and says they're coming to take a look at at. NICE RECOVERY! Scott gets it it out of park and Cliff drives it to the shop. I get a call saying they need a couple of hours to make sure they've fixed it. They do and call again, wondering if I would mind coming down to get it. That's compromise in my book, they got so I'll pick it up. Everyone was was there to greet me, explained what had happened and gave me the keys with a smile. Honest, quick and willing to make a customer happy. I'll be back :) read more
