He's courteous and helpful at the front desk, and the work on my car has been done sooner than estimated. He's also really efficient with the billing, having everything ready to go once I return for my car. Went in, standard job. Re-allignment. They quoted an hour, did it in less time. Real polite service, kept me informed throughout the entire thing. I do feel sorry for them because I know the guy waiting with me will probably give them a bad review because his repair was going to take sometime and he was clearly impatient and didn't realize that a damaged car takes time to be done right. Anyway, the staff was super busy, but made sure all their customers were aware of what was going on with their vehicles. Even let us know of small "heads up" maintenance for the future. I had a great experience. Service and product exceeded my expectations. I have GS350 F-sport which has monster front brakes. I was able to get new ceramic brakes pad for less than 25% for what the dealer wanted(~1200). My new brakes are great and zero noise and smooth. They made a mistake on the ticket and deducted $90 from what i was originally going to pay so not only are these guys honest but very fair due to the fact that i was short on money, so they even went above and beyond to let me know what i needed to fix first and what i could have waited on and all for free with their free estimates.. I went today to brake plus to do an alignment and they said that before to do it they needed to check if it's ok with the car. I waited 2 hours. When I left to have a lunch they called and said that it was impossible to do the service because I need to replace the front wheel bearing and 2 control arms. The absurd part of this story was it would cost about 1200 dollars!!!! The funniest thing is I changed all the wheels bearings yesterday!!!!!!! The cost for every single control arm in their place was 250 bucks!!!! I just researched on AutoZone and the same, exact the same part costs 150 dollars!!!! They are thieves!!! Finally, they refused to do the alignment without the extras, unnecessary, services!!!! read more

I drive a 2000 Honda Odyssey, which has 161,000 miles on it. It has been cared for well at the Honda dealer on I35-E in Carrollton--used to be Bankston Honda, now Autonation Honda. Last time I took it in I was told that it needed an alignment and 2 new front tires, so I took it to Discount Tires in Carrollton and bought tires there. They then sent me to Brakes Plus a few miles away to get an alignment. There I was told that both front tires were 'loose' and needed $1,304.15 worth of work done--control arms with ball joints, and inner and outer tie rods! I said I would come back later, and called the service guy at my Honda place. He was suspicious and had me come in to be checked. He and the mechanic checked everything, did the alignment, and said there was NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH MY CAR!! Thank goodness I didn't listen to the guys at Brakes Plus! read more

Would definitely not recommend this place. Horrible experience and they ended up making our car worse. Went in to get new brakes which cost us $750 (they over sold us and told us we had to do all four at the same time) then as soon as we got it home the brakes were messed up. Took it to another mechanic to see what was wrong and they advised us that whoever did our brakes also messed up the emergency brake and calipers so they told us to take it back to the place where we had the brakes done since they "broke" other things while trying to change the brakes (Brakes Plus) so we took it back and they wouldn't fix the issue that they caused and were going to charge us another $650! Plus screwed the car up even more that it wouldn't even drive forward anymore. When we drove it in there just fine. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. read more

We took our vehicle to Brakes Plus to have periodic transmission maintenance completed. We had to bring the vehicle back two times because it was leaking transmission fluid on our garage floor due to transmission seals not being replaced properly. After giving Brakes Plus three opportunities to complete the transmission maintenance correctly and their failing to do the job, we were concerned about their incompetency jeopardizing the transmission of our vehicle. Since Brakes Plus did not do the work requested, we sent our vehicle to Bankston Honda in Lewisville, TX, who were able to complete the transmission maintenance the first time correctly and at a significantly cheaper price. We requested a refund of $332 from Brakes Plus and they refused. read more

These guys are out of this world. They genuinely care about you - and not the money. They have awesome coupons on their website, saving me a CHUNK of money. Being a young lady, not knowing to much, the man (i forgot his name, sadly) talked to my father on the phone (gladly) and also took me into the garage to physically show me, and explain to me, everything i needed and the importance of it. I took my car in on Dec 31, 2012 to have a few things done. I picked my car up after closing to find out that somebody decided to help themselves to the change in my arm rest compartment and my cell phone charger. They also rummaged thru the glove compartment as well. All said I was out 15.00 total in items and change. When I spoke to the manager to inform him that he has a theiving employee in his facility all I got was "I really don't understand what you are wanting out of this." He said that three times!! 25 Nov 2010 I went to Brakes Plus because I read an internet review that convinced me not to do business with another more prominent break servicing business. My hope is that this review will convince you not to do business with the Brakes Plus located in Carrollton. I was unsatisfied with the amount of time it took to get a quote on my brakes (3 1/2 hrs) but hey, that's auto repair service for you, not a big deal. The reason I am writing this is because these guys at Brakes Plus broke one of the 1/2" thick lug nut bolts with their air wrench. When the mechanic told me the bolt had been broken he mentioned it would be a cheap fix. "Cheap fix??" I thought...surely he meant cheap as in $0.00. No, that's not what he meant because according to him it was (LMAO) like that when I brought it in. Yeah, I took my "at-home air wrench" (the thing that sounds like a dentist drill on roids), broke the bolt, and brought it in to dupe Brake's Plus into fixing it for free. My ass. The mechanic then told me that their air wrench couldn't have broken the bolt. I didn't want to argue (I'm an attorney, the arguments will be forthcoming) but the fact is that yes, an air wrench can break a bolt especially if there is too much torque on the bolt or if it is turned in the wrong direction. Finally the mechanic tells me, "Okay we will fix it for free if you use us to service your brakes for $541.00." I don't want to focus on whether 541.00 is a fair price or not although that is not one of the prices listed on the side of their building for sure. So I asked the guy how much it would cost to do the bolt repair. The following is word for word and not embellished for the sake of bolstering my point. "I said we would do the repair for free." "Yeah but I want to know how much it would cost." "I said it's free WHAT? DO YOU WANT ME TO CHARGE YOU?" "Excuse me? I want to know the cost of the repair because I might not, in fact, I won't be using you guys." "Well I don't know how much someone else will charge you." Oh and by the way, the mechanics manager was on board with the whole "we will fix it if you use us but we won't if you don't" scam but was conveniently missing when the mechanic attempted to intimidate me (In the manager's defense, the mechanic probably waited until his boss wasn't around to talk to me that way.) So when you need your brakes repaired ask yourself if you want to visit this location where you get treated the way I did and oh by the way, they have my name, address, phone number. My advice: Go to Auto Zone where one of the helpful employees will help you buy the right brake pads (I got top of the line ceramic for $60.00, comes with the full kit to put them on) and ask friends until you find someone that knows a mechanic who does weekend work on their days off from places like Brakes Plus. I'm getting my brakes done for about $160.00 now. Or better yet, do it yourself. As for the bolt repair, I will be getting it done and Brake's plus can pay the bill or they can pay the bill plus court cost in small claims court. ADDENDUM 26 Nov 2010 The employees at Brakes Plus Carrollton are even bigger sleazeballs than I thought! As mentioned above, the mechanic refused to tell me how much it would cost to repair the lug nut bolt that they broke. Furthermore, the manager and mechanic only offered to make the repair if I shelled out $541.00 for brake repairs. I found out two things today: 1. The cost of the repair. 2. I will not be suing Brake's Plus for the cost of the repair. I won't be suing because it cost exactly $3.26 to repair the bolt! No wonder they wouldn't tell me how much it would cost, their plan was to get me to pay $541.00 to get the $3.26 repair for free. Because of their dishonesty, hostility, and unprofessional behavior, I now believe the bolt was broken on purpose to leverage me into overpaying for brake services. Has anyone else had a similar experience? This seems like a scheme that these losers have probably run before. read more

Store close at 6pm. Called store at 4:35 pm asking whether it is still ok to go for oil change and I can reach there in 30 min. The gentlemen who answer the phone tells me to bring the car in. I arrived store 4:55pm. I was told "it is too late to do it and the technician wants to go home on time .......Why don't you come early tomorrow at 9 am......." I don't like the way you handle it,sir. If you don't have time, why can't you tell me on the phone don't bother to come or to make an appointment. Even the location is more convenient, but I think there are other places can do oil change too, unprofessional customer service can not convince me they can provide professional job. read more

Our family has been using this Brakes Plus location for over 8 years. We've seen multiple manager change overs, not due to unhappiness in their jobs but being transferred to newer Brakes Plus locations that were convenient to where they lived. We've ALWAYS been pleased with our service. If you want to have work done on your vehicle, make an appointment, if you're in a bind on time don't wait until 5:00 for an oil change. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for an oil change to be completed but I also don't show up 45 minutes to an hour to get something on my car worked on. I have NEVER been steered wrong when it comes to work being needed for my vehicle here, and if there is a question on something that might have been completed I don't complain on social media, I call the garage and ask them what the solution is? I've had awful experiences at dealerships and other tire and brake shops. It's seriously annoying that because I'm a woman that men think that I have no knowledge of my vehicles, or what is needed to keep them running. If you're unsure of an estimate given to you, do some research..get a second opinion. I guarantee you, that you'll find honesty and hard work at this Brakes Plus location. If you want an oil change done in 15 minutes then go to Quick Lube where that's all they do. For those that complained about a laundry list of things being needed for their vehicle...do you keep up on your maintenance or do you wait for something to break? Everyone has a bad day, have a little grace, kindness will get you much further. read more

I decided to give brakes plus a second chance after an unsatisfactory experience replacing shocks a couple of years ago. Back then, I asked for a quote to replace the rear shocks AND shock mounts on my BMW 325i. They quoted a decent price, so I had them do the work, only to discover that they had not replaced the shock mounts. When I complained, they lied and told me that the shock mounts came with the shock. Since they are close by, I decided to give them a chance to make amends when my other BMW 325i also needed shocks. I could see they were leaking badly and the ride was bouncy. This time, they had no problem understanding that i wanted the mounts replaced, too, and they quoted a very favorable price. Unlike another reviewer's experience, they insisted on driving the car before starting work, and after doing so they told me that they thought the front struts were worse than the shocks. Since there was a manufacturer's rebate on a set of 4, I let them replace all 4 for a price less than half of the quote from an independent BMW shop. However, after I picked up the car, I discovered that they had not transferred the bump stops and dust boots from my old socks to the new. When I went back to ask about it, they told me that they threw them away because they were deteriorated. I pointed out that the shock manufacturer sold replacements, which are very inexpensive, and they replied that they just aren't needed. I doubt that car makers would install them if they weren't of some benefit, and I think at least they should have asked me whether I wanted to replace them. Since the shocks have a lifetime warranty, I'll take my chances without the bump stop and dust boot, so I didn't press the issue further. My overall impression is that they quote low prices because they are doing less than a complete job, assuming the customer will never know. Then they make stuff up when someone who knows as much or more about their car then they do calls them on it. I would suggest that you avoid this shop if you don't know much about cars, and if you do, make sure every last detail is spelled out in the quote. read more

First and foremost, I think the owner here intends well; I just think his staff is very inexperienced and there is no one going behind them to verify that the work is done well or right. Had a radiator replaced in May. It has leaked ever since. I was told it was a new radiator but it's full of rust. I took it back once because of the leaking and was told a hose wasn't connected correctly and they replaced the cap too. (under warranty) Still leaking. Took it to City Garage this week. The manager there said there were loose clamps on most of the hoses and a lot of other problems that we didn't go into detail about. Brakes Plus also changed my oil, and that leaked too. City Garage changed it and replaced the oil pan plug and it stopped leaking. I've had my truck serviced at Brakes Plus for years because it was close to the house. Seemed like every time something was "fixed" something else would go wrong. I started to think they were sabotaging for future business. I have absolutely no proof of this, but if you see a pattern...think twice. Sorry guys. I think you meant well but the service is just sub-par. read more
