My husband and I went in for an alignment at the recommendation of a well known tire shop we frequent. Upon arrival one of the mechanics was at the counter; turned to walk away and went outside to lean up against the buliding. The first night we went in it was 5:40PM and the manager told us to come back the next day. Okay,understandable. They close at 6:00PM. Before leaving my husband advised the manager he gets off work at 430PM and further inquired what time would be need to arrive the next evening. The manager said before 5:00PM and there would be no problem. My husband and I arrived at 4:45PM the next evening. There were two mechanics outside shooting the breeze and again noone available to greet us at the counter. Someone finally came to the counter asked what we needed and then asked if we were dropping the car off. My husband asked how long and the manned laughed and said he won't start work until 8:00AM because he was busy. He then asked "What you wanna do?!" I promptly said leave so we can catch the other place before they close. Meineke in Carrllotn is a much better choice. read more

Took them three hours to do a one-hour brake job. One lady was waiting there before I showed up at 11 a.m. and was still waiting after I left three hours later. I am terribly frustrated with Brakes Plus. Not only did they try to sell me things that I didn't need for my truck, but they completely botched a simple brake job. They put two inner brake pads on one side of my vehicle and two outer brake pads on the other side of my vehicle. Not only was this terribly unsafe, but this also cause the pads to eat into my rotors and caused me to replace my brakes and rotors well before I needed to AGAIN. I will never return to Brakes Plus again and I strongly urge any future customers to consider the same. They obviously don't know how to do what they advertise. read more

Seriously?! We just took our car in here today and they quoted us a price that was four hundred more than we were quoted at the other two places we took it to for an estimate. They didn't even look at the shocks just assumed because it was a 2003 they needed to be replaced. I'm sorry it may be an older car but if you're going to tell me to replace something that no one else has mentioned than you need to look at it and be sure. Not just replace it for the hell of it. Went to this place to get the alignment done on my car. They initially generated the report and explained me why i need to get the alignment. Everything looked fine, after 30 minutes manager walks down to me and started a different conversation saying that my car has bad struts and shocks and they need to be replaced for the alignment to be in effect. I just did the alignment and walked out. As soon as drove it, the car was drifting towards one side and the steering wheel wasn't mounted correctly. Next day i called them and visited the place again hoping that they can fix it or restore it to the previous state. They took the report and it was way off than the initial one, when questioned they lied and concluded that i have to get the struts and shocks replaced which would cost me about 2000$. I got the inspection done and fixed the alignment with no other suspension issues. Please STAY AWAY from this place. All you hear is LIES. read more

Got my front brakes done here a YEAR ago and they are already worn. Luckily they have a lifetime warranty but I was advised I would have to pay $70 for labor. I took my car in this morning at 10am and they told me my car would be ready by 12 so left the car there to run errands with my fiancé. 2 pm I hadn't heard from them so I called and they told me they hadn't even looked at it but are about to and call me back in 20 min to let me know if anything else is wrong. 3:30pm I still hadn't heard from them so my fiancé called and they told him it will be ready soon. But couldn't give him a time. Now it's 4:20pm and my car is STILL not done. Their customer service is HORRIBLE and obviously the brakes are cheap because they shouldn't have worn out in JUST a year. So I am really unhappy to have to write this review. 2 years ago I started coming here. At the time I felt I could trust them. They were friendly and fairly quick. I gave them a 5 stars. I'm usually the type to come in, if you say it's wrong, I go with it because hey they're the professionals. This time I decided to get a second opinion because my car is fairly new and I am so happy I did. They advised I needed new shocks and new front and back brakes. Almost $800's worth of work. I go to another shop that was recommended by friends and I'm told that my brakes are perfectly fine. Not a thing wrong with them or the shocks. I can't believe they really tried to scam me. I had an appointment for an oil change today at 5:15 (which I made two days ago). I arrived and they asked if I would be able to leave the vehicle. I explained that I'd need to wait on it (they close at 6:00 anyway). I'm told that they don't think they can get to it today because they have vehicles in all of their bays and they had been very busy. Asked a friend I trust who works at Discount Tire his #1 recommendation for quality work at affordable price was Nick, the manager at Brakes Plus in Carrolton. I'm so happy I went there instead of back to the dealer. Needed about the same amount of work, but Nick showed me what was wrong with my truck up on the lift, we talked about a few options, and I decided to leave it with them and pick it up the following day. Everything was done great, truck drives amazing, Nick (and Jeremy) couldn't have been any nicer, and I saved roughly $800 versus the dealership quote. I will share my experience today which was just perfect but I will give you a couple of advises because I knew exactly what to say to the people at any mechanic shop. One of my best friends knows a lot about mechanic and due to a leak in one of the cooling hoses (part of the radiator system) he replaced it and told me I needed a radiator flush because the hoses were full of rust and impurities and the water was not circulating properly (that's why it caused a hole). I called several places to ask for the price for a radiator flush and a couple of them were 79.99. When I called Break Plus in Carrollton they said 74.99 so I went this morning with the intention of also getting an oil change since I had a coupon for 19.99 (from my Entertainment Book). The guy at the counter greeted me and I explained why I was there and I asked him to double check the price for me. He said that there was a $10 coupon so the final price with extras would be 72.99.. cool! Now I wanted to know if I could still use my coupon for the conventional oil change. He was ok with that so what I paid for a complete Coolant System Flush (including inspecting the system, looking for leaks, removing old coolant and refill with correct amount of reconditioned coolant plus the treatment and antifreeze) and for an oil change was $94.78. I think I got a great deal. He also asked me if I had any concerns about my car so I let him know that my brother was a mechanic (true) and that I was aware that my car needed new front disc brake rotors and also new brake pads but I had already ordered those pieces online. The guys there were really helpful and the mechanic (Alex) was super friendly and let me watch the process of taking out the old fluids with a cleaner they applied and then I saw how they injected the new ones. They knew I wasn't lost because I had someone close who knows about cars. They didn't try to sell me anything or to get me into 'Your car needs this and that'. By the way, it is not a new car at all. I didn't mention it is a Chevrolet Blazer 2000. They only wrote in the sticker 166,000 miles at the moment of the service when my car has 167,500 miles but hey.. I will be naive and believe they made a mistake. I just felt sorry for the older lady who came with her teenager daughter for a check and told the guy at the counter "Oh really? My car also has brakes in the rear? I didn't know that!!' Poor one.. easy prey. if possible, have someone (a friend, a neighbor) looking at your car before going anywhere. You will be thankful. If not, bye-bye money. I am grateful today because two services were performed professionally in my car and I spent less than a 100 bucks. But please look after yourself anywhere you go.. just came for rear shoe replacement. It appears they inspect a car no matter what the work order is..I felt it's good. Then estimate, my master cylinder is leaking, front brake show, hardware need to be replace. Estimate is 450 including rear brake. I came becaseu of coupon and they didn't want to honor saying the coupon is for front disk only. Ah..the coupon clearly says it's pad or shoes. I take care of my car myself and I know there is no leak on master cylinder. I split brake fluid when I added brake fluid. They just did visual inspection and told me that I need to replace due to the fluid they see around the cylinder. Just like any other place, they attract a customer with a coupon with a lots of conditions. I understand and respect that. However, I have 4 other pepole waiting with me and they all are told they have this and that problem and all need to be done. Amazing place. If you don't know about a car and don't know what to do with maintenance, don't come. Unlike the coupon, they are not cheap. They add this and that hardware is needed. I went in for an oil change and inspection and they told me previous jobs they recommended totaling 1500 dollars would keep the truck from passing. I just changed the rotors a little over a year ago but somehow I needed new ones? I took it to a more honest shop and got pads and my truck passed inspection for 165 bucks. read more
