i brought my car in because it was shaking. they told me I needed an engine mount for my car when I did the diagnostic. I didn't need the engine mount, I basically had to take a credit card out with them and they took 1,000$ from me and that wasn't even the problem with my vehicle. if I knew I wasn't going to get robbed by this company I could have used the money to buy a new car. My car is literally worse now from when I brought it in. I don't recommend anyone using their service. read more

Got an oil change and asked for my brakes to be inspected because they were pulsating. They told me that I needed all of my rotors and pads replaced because all four rotors were warped by heat. Their price was just under $2,000. I took a pass. I went to a local garage and asked them to inspect my brakes. They said that I needed to replace my front rotors and pads. I asked them about my back rotors and pads and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. Hmmm. WTF Brakes Plus? read more

I'm not going to lie, customer service-wise, this was one of my best experiences at an auto repair place, ever! I only went in to get an oil change and it went very smoothly. I should start off by saying, I worry about basically everything when it comes to taking my car in to a shop (for any reason). If there is some mild form of PTSD that comes with bad experiences from going to car shops, I probably have it! There seems to always be some kind of upselling, freaking me out with a list of stuff that should be done (and the worrying that ensues), and sometimes even condescending tones from employees at a couple places I've gone to in the past. Not here!!! AJ Green (the guy that helped me at Brakes Plus) answered all my questions about oil changes, general car care/maintenance, and tips for finding ways to replace some small odds and ends for my car fob in such a kind manner! This was really helpful and I'm super glad he didn't try to up-sell me on anything because I probably would have steered clear on returning, just from an attempt of up-selling. He even gave me my total before going through with the service (no tacking on of random fees or charges) and I highly appreciate that. So, all-in-all-- Great experience! I've been a loyal customer of this Brakes Plus location for over three years and have no complaints about the quality of the mechanical work that has been performed by the technicians. With regular maintenance, they have kept my eleven-year-old car running like new. Unfortunately, due to some ill-fated turnover, the service provided by the service advisors has gone to hell. Before, A.J. came on board, the service advisors took care of me and my car as if I were a member of their family. Now, with A.J. as the lead, his misogynistic bullying of old lady customers is rubbing off on all the men on the front line. From my own experience, A.J. belittles anything a woman customer shares about what is going on with their car. He cuts me off in mid-sentence and dismisses me as if I am a small child. On my last visit for an oil change and tire rotation (which is my last visit to this Brakes Plus...ever!) I specifically asked for another service advisor and got Mike. He was already well-trained to treat old women in a condescending manner. When I shared info and asked questions, he made-up answers that made no sense. When one minor repair (for which I was charged $28) was not done to my satisfaction, I went back in and tried to talk to Mike about it. First he talked down to me letting me know that I was stupid for not understanding how things work, then he stamped his foot, clenched his fists, bolted upright and stared outside the window. In fact, he did not make eye contact with me during our conversation. He would not budge about correcting the error. On my receipt, there is a line that declares that "Your Glendale Brakes Plus General Manager: Richard Fanning @ (303) 333-5511". Unfortunately, A.J. is quick-to-the-draw on answering the phone. He demands to know why I want to talk to the manager and he will not allow my call to go through unless I explain all the details to him first. I have worked in automotive at two dealerships, and as a project manager in parts marketing at the HQ of a major automobile manufacturer. When I was a teenager, I raced my Mopar at Bandimere Speedway. I know a thing or two about how a car works. The Glendale Brakes Plus won't be working on car ever again. read more

The tire dealership where I purchased my tires said they could not be mounted because the studs were broken. I was referred to Brakes Plus and was told it would probably cost $200. Yikes! I called the store and spoke to Michael. He said they were quite busy, but he would get me in and out today by 6:00. He called me at 4:30 and said they studs were NOT stripped, the tire shop had just over-torqued them. He seemed to truly care about my predicament. He said there would be no charge. This is an incredibly honest, hard-working location and I highly recommend them to anyone. They are the best! read more

As a past RE developer I worked with Just Brakes infamous for the batt and switch $99.88 for a brakes and you would end up paying over $500 for really nothing. I guess nothing has changed I took my car to Brakes Plus to get only what I need...new front brake pads I was quoted $99.00 plus I had $25.00 off coupon. Brakes Plus called me with a list of additional charges. A total of $200 more i.e. the "batt and switch".i ended up going to a small garage in my Park Hill neighbor, I bought the pads at the automotive store for $29 and the local independent garage will install for $50, complete with warranty. read more

I will never go back to Brakes Plus! If I could give them 0 stars, I would be happy to. I took a half day off of work on a Friday to get the oil changed on my car before I had to drive to the airport and pick up family that was flying in for a wedding on Saturday. While doing my oil change, the mechanics backed another vehicle into my car, sideswiping my passenger side and completely damaging my right front fender. Apology after apology ensued with a promise of "oh we'll get you a rental and do whatever it takes to fix this, but the owner is not here today." Since my car was still drive-able and I had so many errands to run, I got their promise of a repair in writing, let them know I would be back on Monday to speak with the owner, and (embarrassed to be driving my car) went on with my day. Once I returned on Monday, the owner, Rich, tried to act like he can't be sure that his mechanics caused all of the damage to my car. I let him know I had photos of the damage as well as a statement in writing that my car would be fully repaired. To which he replied that I would have to let his guys do the repairs or they wouldn't pay for it. On top of this, he gave me a "Brakes Plus" company car to drive around. At this point I was furious. Not only should he be accommodating me for his shop's mistake but he should NOT expect me to drive around an advertisement for his business when I was promised a rental. It escalated to the point that I was on the phone with the corporate headquarters (even though they are owned as a franchise) to get this issue resolved and finally get the rental car that was promised to me. The process of getting my car fixed took over a month of arguing and fighting with Brakes Plus. I have also written a negative review with the BBB for this location. If they cannot even perform an oil change without all of this drama, why would I ever trust them to do more with my car? On top of the terrible situation with my car, they managed to make it worse by refusing to just take care of me and make it right. I warn everyone to NEVER USE BRAKES PLUS!!! read more

Sears paid out huge money a few years back in a class action suit for ripping people off! ANYONE who goes to one of these shops needs to shop for a 2nd opinion or you too will be ripped off! SIMPLE AS THIS------Every car inspected does not need Rotors, Drums, Brake Flushes, Calipers and the list just goes on and on. HINT #1 FREE INSPECTION REALLY? The inspection is done on each and every vehicle brought in weather you ask for it or not. WHY? So they can tell you your car needs a laundry list of additional work. These people are paid COMMISSION, no extra work=no extra pay! Do yourselves a favor folks, search for an independent shop near you, do some research and go to a reputable shop or even the dealer to have this work inspected/completed. DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THESE "FREE" SCAMS! NOTHING, NOTHING is FREE! Last piece of advice.....Lifetime guarantee=BULLHOCKEY! No One can guarantee anything for a lifetime, read the fine print! Lastly, there are MANY Community College's, Trade Schools, even high schools that will do the exact same work for very little money. "Not our responsibility." This is what you hear from a business that openly does not care about you, or your business. Hearing this once is bad enough, hearing it more then three times in one conversation is enough to tell you that you should take your business anywhere else humanly possible. I had to take my car here because a local tire company broke one of my lug bolts when changing my tire. So I showed up only to find that I had to have an appointment, even when they had 4 bays sitting empty. So I come back two days later, minor inconvenience. When I drop off my car I explain that it has custom lug nuts on it, I had them the key to the lug nuts and the extra lug nut with the sheered bolt stuck in it. "we'll take care of it" is what I"m told. Almost a month later I have to take the tire off and to my surprise there are only 4 lug nuts on the car. When I return to Brakes Plus and ask a manager what happened, the string of "not our responsibility" ensues. me "why am I missing the the 5th lug nut?" manager "we don't drill out the broken bolt here, its not something we do" me "why wasn't I told this when I dropped the car off" manager "the tire company should have told you that, its not our responsibility" me "can I have the lug nut back?" manager "I'm sure we threw it away" me "they are custom lug nuts, it will cost me $35 or more to replace it" manager "its not our responsibility" me "so you expect me to pay to replace it, when you threw it away?" manager "you'll have to talk to the tire company, it not our responsibility" Save the headache, take your car anywhere else possible. read more

Squeaky breaks ... ugh. Called the Evans location and they were too booked to get me in today so they referred me over to the Leetsdale location, instead of just saying "no". Good start AJ answered the phone and made me feel like a priority and got me right in. An hour later they called me back to tell me that my breaks are in great condition and the noise is just cosmetic. Instead of taking advantage of me and charging me for things I didn't need, they were honest. Obviously their business works, they are not hurting for customers yet stay organized and well staffed enough to treat incoming business as a priority. I'm going to say it was an overall less than good experience. I went in for an alignment and oil change. They called and said I needed a camber kit for one side and that it would require an hour of labor and be an additional $75 (for a single washer). Fine, whatever. I came back 33 minutes after he called and said I needed a camber kit and the camber kit and alignment are already done and the truck is at the oil change station. Hmmm. When I paid I made sure to mention that I'm not paying for a full hour of labor when I am certain it took him less than 30 minutes to take off one nut and put on a washer. The manager agrees to this (this is the only reason they didn't get 1 star). If I didn't say anything he was just going to screw me. After I get the alignment sheet I'm not certain that they did anything at all. I'm also not sure he "installed a camber kit" as both sides look identical. I'm not saying I had a terrible experience, but I didn't have a good one for sure. They were fast! ....to try to screw me. But fast. Edit1: After driving my car for a few days I noticed it was pulling hard to the right....now I have to go back and have them fix it again. Edit2: I decided that I was willing to walk away from my $100 to have another shop align my truck properly. If these tards couldn't figure out how to do it the first time what would make me think they could do it the second time; and they'd probably try to screw me further. Horrible place, my roommate took her Jeep in here because the brakes were starting to squeak, Her jeep only has 34 K miles on it. They got her for almost 600 dollars for stuff on her jeep that would not have needed to be done. They told her that her back brakes needed new rotors, and pads and the front needed new rotors and pad, and new calipers on the back. My car has 141K miles on it and I have never had to have the back brakes replaced in its lifetime. This company shows the 99 dollar for pads and all and then they try to tell you that by law they cant let you leave without doing all this other work to your car. This is BULL! Do not take your car here. Back brakes are VERY VERY rarely ever needed to be replaced. They are not used that often. Do not go here. read more

This particular Brakes Plus location has worked on my cars for 6+ years. They even service my mother's car, my girlfriend's car, and my company's fleet - that's how much I trust them. As far as other reviews knocking them, saying they're a ripoff and the roommates car was given unnecessary service, etc. are really unfair to this place - these Yelpers haven't even been here! Paranoid idiot reviewers with preconceived notions shouldn't be permitted to slander businesses they've never been! Brakes Plus is a family owned Colorado company, not your run-of-the-mill corporation like Midas or Sears. They genuinely value the customers here. I get emails with their promotions and discounts, specials, and so on, on a pretty regular basis. The labor rate here is $75 an hour, not $125 like the dealerships or $95 like most hole-in-the-wall mechanics. This business has saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. The store manager, Rich Fanning, has even gone so far as to give me a ride back home in his PERSONAL vehicle at 6:30pm, with my hairy shedding dog along for the ride! I believe if you were to bring in a Limbo pole, they would literally bend over backwards for you. read more

I had rear brake pads and rotors done here on a '98 M3 for a cost of $417. I'm not sure how good or bad this cost is, but they get four stars for directness and service. I walked in and was helped by a pleasant individual, who answered all my questions quickly and as accurately as one can expect. The did the inspection for free and looked at the rear suspension for damage as I had requested. They came back with a reasonable estimate and the problem I had feared (based on feedback from the previous owner) turned out to be nothing. All in all, I'm not trying to beat someone up to get the lowest price. I want quality service that makes me feel like I'm getting the straight story and that is what this place provided me. Pretty rare to go to an auto shop that's honest and with reasonable prices! After I had Goodyear do a free brake inspection and then trying to nickel and dime me, I stopped by here for a second opinion. Turns out that my brakes still had a lot of life left and just needed some cleaning. And the prices for what ever Goodyear told me that needed to replace was half the cost. I had the unfortunate situation of my clutch going out a few weeks back and I got a quote from Subaru and a couple other places and Brakes Plus halfway in between cost (from a friend) and the dealership. With the 15% coupon off their website, it saved me $150 bucks making it the same cost as a friend-of-a-friend to replace it. Everyone I interacted with was great and they got the job done in the amount of time they said it would take and didn't call me with a bunch of other stuff that "had" to be done like a lot of automotive places. Very disappointed with my experience here. I knew that my brakes went metal on metal and that my rotors needed to be replaced. After the initial inspection they also said that my calipers were rusted frozen and needed to be replaced. I questioned this, asked for clarification on why and when I said that I wanted to get a second opinion the technician said "Do you not trust your eyes" and pried on the caliper piston. He stressed that he "Respects other peoples money too much to mislead them". I wasn't buying it and called another shop. They said not only is it entirely possible that the calipers are not frozen but that their estimate is way too high for the work. Sure enough I took my car to the shop that I called and my calipers WERE NOT FROZEN AT ALL and were totally fine and did not need to be replaced for an additional $350. The next guy that I worked with was very educational on how simple it was to move the calipers and that the guys at Brakes Plus want to SELL AS MANY PARTS AS POSSIBLE AND WERE COMPLETELY FULL OF IT. He also pointed out fluff charges that Brakes Plus was trying to sneak into the estimate. read more

I was way overdue for my oil change and in a rush to get it done before work. Plus, my engine lights turned on in the morning. I was told one hour for the oil change and a diagnostic which would add more to the cost. Within 45 minutes, they were done and they walked me through exactly what I needed done to get it fixed. They didn't charge me for diagnostics and provided me with a service bulletin. Super friendly and fast service. I think I'll be visiting this location more often. read more
