I noticed one day that my brakes were making a low pitched scraping noise. I thought it was due to the rain and my brakes being wet, but it just seemed to get worse over the span of a few days. So I took my car in to Meineke. I also had a check engine light at the time and needed a smoke test to figure out where my emissions leak was coming from. Meineke quoted me $3,000 to replace my purge valve (results of the smoke test), and to replace all my brake pads and rotors. I'm just a broke college kid!!! They didn't do anything to help me out really, so I called Brakes Plus. And boy am I glad I did!! Brakes Plus replaced all 4 brakes pads + 2 rotors (they sanded the other 2 to save me money because they didn't need to be replaced just yet). My brakes/rotors were also COATED in rust -- it was bad. And they completely took care of it. I told the manager my budget, and explained how I'm a college student so money was tight. He was more than happy to do what he could under my budget and even included a $50 manager discount! I also mentioned the smoke test that I had just paid for at Meineke and how they quoted me $800 just to replace the purge valve. They ran the code and it came back to be something else. He informed me what to do and if that didn't work to come back and they would offer the repair at a cheaper price (about $600). I was able to replace that part on my own for $150 (thank you, dad) so I didn't need to go back. But I was BEYOND happy with my experience. I felt like they truly cared about me. I took my BMW 528I 2016 to Brakes Plus at 6161 Alexis in Dallas,Tx with a oil leak and they called me and said it was the valve cover and it would cost $1669.00 and suggested i replace the spark plugs for $750.00 (4 plugs) and I said yes. I get a call in a few days and the tell me its not the valve cover its the oil pan and will cost $750.00. with no guarantee the oil leak wil be fixed. I decline and just pick my car up still leaking oil and am very unhappy . I am paying for a mistake by Brakes Plus mechanics . I need some help from management about this issue. read more

BEWARE‼ Very unethical practices at this Brakes Plus in Richardson & its owner Jonah. I came in for a diagnostic test to see why my AC wasn't cooling. Jonah looked at the engine for a few minutes & was certain I needed a new AC compressor. I dropped my car off on a Friday, expecting repairs to be completed Saturday at noon as agreed. Sat morning, I received a call from Dennis (Jonah's employee) that I would also need a new condenser due to hearing a "hissing" noise from the condenser. I told him Jonah didn't mention this when he looked at the engine. Shortly after, Jonah confirmed Dennis's claim that I needed a new condenser & there was a hissing noise (something he would later lie about & deny saying). They explained that without replacing the bad condenser, the new AC compressor would eventually fail. My quote jumped from $1100 to $1800. After deliberations, I decided to replace both parts since he & Dennis were adamant both were faulty. We decided I would pick up the car at 5pm(close time). I realized later the new $1800 quote was time/date stamped with the date I dropped my car off (Fri), while still at the store. Jonah denied this. I arrived at the shop at 5pm & the work wasn't finished. Jonah stated there was another hour of work to be done. He didn't communicate this. He blamed the delay on the parts store (1800) delivering the wrong AC compressor & condenser parts & stated his shop had to wait for the new parts to arrive. I asked if everything was redelivered correctly. Jonah said yes but started talking in circles, never actually giving a direct answer. As I'm seeking a clear explanation, Jonah finally admitted that the correct condenser part was never actually redelivered because the parts shop had already closed. So he decided to only replace the AC compressor instead. I asked why this wasn't communicated to me & what that means for my engine since he & Dennis said I needed a new condenser as well or the new AC compressor would eventually fail. He couldn't answer. He told me my only other option now was to keep my car in the shop until Monday to wait for the new condenser part & complete the repair. Instead of taking accountability & apologizing, Jonah continued to lie & change his story.  Jonah's next shift in narrative was that I actually didn't need a new condenser & he stated DENNIS LIED ABOUT HEARING THE HISSING NOISE FROM THE CONDENSER THAT MORNING (But a few minutes ago, he was just telling me to keep my car in the shop until Mon to replace the condenser). Jonah started blaming Dennis for suggesting the condenser repair, completely forgetting that I spoke with him as well that morning & he also corroborated Dennis's statements. Jonah changed his story again, admitting he never actually heard a hissing noise from my condenser as he initially claimed (so he was going to allow me to pay $700 more for repair costs on something he couldn't hear or verify but claimed he could). Jonah proceeded to try & justify himself by telling me he fired Dennis earlier that day for "asking customers for money." He also informed me he fired another employee (Kevin) the previous week. All I could wonder was what kind of shady & unstable business is being run at this location?! Ultimately, Jonah took no accountability for what he did & blamed Dennis for everything. Jonah was never forthcoming with the truth. He lied, withheld information, recanted statements, changed stories several times in order to create a final narrative I couldn't be confident was the truth.  Only the AC compressor was replaced. I couldn't trust Jonah's word on the condenser matter. I no longer wanted business with Jonah or his shop. So I requested & was assured another Brakes Plus could complete any needed work on the condenser with same warranty. I also filed a complaint with Brakes Plus corporate on 8/1/2025. As of 9/22/2025, no one, including the regional supervisor (Angelo) who is supposed to reach out, has done anything. Corporate has been silent & the issue remains unaddressed & unresolved. Avoid Jonah & Brakes Plus Richardson at all costs! read more

Took my car in for brakes making grinding sounds and of course I needed extensive repairs $750 for pads and rotor work on all four tires, but I figure they will at least be good to go for a few years. After a year of normal driving my brakes are already squealing when the car sits for about ten hrs. When I took them back to get looked at Kevin said that is normal and my brakes were fine. Called about getting a sway bar replaced on my car. Daniel answered the phone, told me they could do it, and it would take approximately an hour and a half including the diagnostics, I made an appointment at 4:30 to have the work done. Upon arrival I immediately noticed the waiting room reeked of weed and air freshener, so much that my eyes stung. After diagnostics were confirmed (30 minutes in), they supposedly went to work on my car. Another hour later Terry came out to tell me that they could not get the part, after all. My clothes smelled like the waiting room, I wasted an hour and s half of time and no repairs done. Spoke to Daniel just now. He said he couldn't do anything about not getting the part and as for the odors in the waiting room, he said yes it was a problem "but I can"t do anything about what people carry on their person". I told him I had propped the door open when I was there to try to breathe and he should try to ventilate that room. That, he can do. They can also let you know before you've been there an hour and a half that they don't have the part. That was the quoted time for the diagnostics AND repair to have been completed. Wretched experience, wretched response. I'll call Discount Tire who referred me to them to report this disappointing experience. I'm not sure how they got these great reviews. Towards the end of my wait people were coming in and asking if their cars were done and they were being ignored or told they were "almost done" , and it became crowded and chaotic. Altho it could be customers smoking weed there...makes you wonder. To be clear: I called the business the morning after my visit, before posting a review, to review my experience and express my disappointment, and their response was as described above. So to the Business Owner's reply "please contact us so we can help resolve this", your guys had the opportunity, and it was not good. read more

Brought my car in on a Saturday morning after being referred for brake service by my usual shop. Not too busy, but had just enough customers for comfort lol. The service here is great. There's a comfortable waiting room and free wifi. They have a variety of drinks available. It's easy to get to since it's on the access road of Central Expressway. Terry was really helpful and fun to interact with. Jackson did a great job explaining the issues after they ran diagnostics and was genuine and professional.
