I LOVE mom and pop shops. These restaurants are the back bone of goo eating and everyone should go to one every once and a while. So of course, being in riverside I had to check out Brandon's Diner. Just like any M&P the restaurant felt like home. The waitresses were pleasant and the atmosphere was friendly. I sat down with a friend and we ordered. I got a country skillet, they got a Mexican burrito and we shared a Belgium waffle. The food was amazing but due to the fact that the wait time was extremely long and our waitress seemed to be busy with other things I can only Give them 3 stars. Impressive. Fresh everything. Substantial servings. Simple, good diner food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were very pleased with our choices. Several years ago we had not had a great an experience at one of their other nearby locations, which made me not willing to try this one for some time. But after finally going here, it was so good we've chosen to go back several times. I can see why this place is a locals' favorite. And this location feels bigger, newer, more spacious, nicer overall. Their version of chile verde is done with just enough spice for my taste. Not too hot and very flavorful, yet lean meat. Try the chile verde in the burrito ranchero for under $7. Mr B bravely tried the meatloaf. Shockingly, it had very little filler and very good tasting. It came with real mashed and steamed veggies. The meat loaf special was priced for $7. Another time for breakfast we had pork chops (2). Comes with two eggs, potato, toast. The pork chops were large, bone in, done expertly so they remained moist. The chef really listens when you ask to not overdo them. Cinnamon french toast. Two thick slices of cinnamon bread, very good. And they only use real butter to top it with. Yay! Wish it wasn't quite so sweet, but it was so yummy I simply skipped the syrup. Don't forget about their salad bar, all you can eat, $7.95. It is small, but has good choices. They substantiate it with a couple soups and a couple of hot entrees. I saw fried chicken wings in one of the trays. And lemon bars neatly wrapped for a sweet finish. Cool. Conveniently off the 91 freeway on the opposite side from Tyler Galleria. Good Menu Selection...there are many different items that I order here. American, Mexican and breakfast are featured. The restaurant is usually clean and the service is OK. The prices are OK. The food is good (both American and mexican) except for the unsalted french fries. I have been here many times and have only had 1 bad experience which was the lack of service. Horrible food.. If I could give negative stars I would. I went in on Monday for a late breakfast with my grandson and my food was horrible. I ordered a sausage links an egg plate with a side of home fries and asked for my eggs over medium. My eggs were over-hard and my sausage links and potatoes were super burnt. I sent my food back to be redone. The cooks supposedly re-did my food but my eggs still came out a little overcooked which was not over medium as asked but what was more disappointing is that the cook was lazy and only recooked my eggs but pretty much scooped off the noticeable burnt pieces of potatoes and left very Little potatoes on my plate and more then half were still burnt and all they did was flip the burnt side of the links so that I would think they were redone. I don't understand how these people get away with charging a customer $13.95 for crappy burnt food. I complained to the server Melodie and she was very sweet tried to make it right by taking the food back and having them recook my whole order but my grandson was being fussy and I just wanted to put something in our stomach and get out of there. So I declined. I ate a lil of what was edible but basically paid to eat garbage. definitely not worth my money. I wish I would of taken a photo so management could see the garbage there cooks are serving. My grandson's food was OK, I ordered him a kids scrambled egg & pancake meal. The pancakes can be more fluffier but other then that, better then my meal. I will say the only thing that was excellent of the whole meal was the salsa. Also whoever does dishes, needs to do a better job cleaning. The cups and utensils always look dirty and sometimes u can see stuck food. Definitely a health code violation. It's a great place to go eat if you get the right sever and cook. Like if you order hot wings it could take almost half an hour I saw mine on the serving window. By the time I got it they were cold so I don't recommend the wings also for the soapy flavor sometimes when the don't wash their stuff right. But you should try the crepes with berry's they are so good. Another good one is the burger and fries I recommend this place just choose the right meal. Ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and a side of avocado. The burrito was served wet style with unmelted cheese on top.....off-putting to say the least. There did not seem to be any cheese actually in the burrito strike 1. The filling or maybe green sauce not sure which due to the burrito being slathered in the sauce was ridiculously salty...I mean inedible salty so strike 2 there. The burrito filling was very dry (this likely explains why they feel the need to serve it covered in sauce) strike 3. And because they don't seem to understand the three strikes you're out rule the tortilla to filling ratio was waaaaay wrong. At first glance it looked like a massive burrito but when you cut into it you quickly realized that the bulk of it was simply folded over tortilla with no filling at the ends...so strike 4. As to my side of avocado, I paid almost $3 for half of an avocado THAT WASN'T EVEN RIPE! Come on now....really??? I just can't fathom how people like this place. read more

Brandon's Diner is a bomb! The food is great. This is our first time dining here and we are kind of hesitant at first. The orange juice is fresh and even the syrup is warm! That was awesome, very rare you find restaurants serving hot/warm syrup nowadays!! My husband ordered a french toast sandwich with bacon and i had croissant with over hard egg and cheese. French toast is perfect not soggy and my croissant was perfect too! I can tell the eggs they used were fresh! You get what you pay for. Their price is reasonable! The ambience with an old diner music is just amazing. It is nice to eat when there are no screaming kids or loud chatters! The lunch is good with decent portions. I wouldn't recommend getting breakfast to go . We ordered the country breakfast which is sausage patty's and eggs and chicken fried steak and eggs . When my husband picked up the order he had to go back in because the scrambled eggs that we got with the chicken fried steak look like maybe one egg at the most so they have them add another egg. When he got home, the fried breakfast potatoes were terrible. Look like it had been sitting there for hours and everything was cold. All the breading on the country fried steak was falling off the patty, and the portion was very small. And I live five minutes from Brandon's diner. Everything was cold, and like I said everything looked like it had been sitting out for a long period was not fresh. The only thing that was warm was the country gravy. POOR SERVICE FOR THE 1ST TIME: Blanca who p4261said she was the acting manager provided horrible service. She waited on a group who were seated after us. I was seated at 12:01 and didn't get my food until 12:53 and the other group was finished with their food. I brought this to her attention and she still neglected to come back and check on our table. She said she was sorry but didn't offer a Discount until I asked her how she would alert this right. I am a very generous tipper, but she made me lose my appetite. I arrived before noon. The hostess at the Indiana Riverside location displayed an attitude right away. No greeting. No smile. Asked me if a particular table was ok. Since it seemed she was giving me a choice, I asked for one that was further from the door. She said she had to clean it (it didn't look dirty from a distance. No used plates/cups on it otherwise I wouldn't have asked for it.) She seemed put out to have to clean it. They weren't overly busy, and there was no one else who needed to be seated at the time. Isn't it her job to try to accommodate customers? At least be nice? Wiping the table took all of ten seconds if that. I thanked her, but she seemed perturbed. Not someone who helps make it a pleasant dining experience. Brandon's, you might want to consider someone else with better hospitality skills to seat/greet your customers. Doesn't seem like she likes her job. Maybe she was having a bad day, but shouldn't take it out on us. On a positive note, Heather, my server, gave exceptional service! (She gets five stars!) Ended up here after getting a flat tire one hour into a 30 hour cross country driving trip. We needed someplace to get a bite while getting new tires. Brandon's was recommended and it was a good recommendation. I got the carnitas-eggs breakfast. Carnitas are always hit and miss, and these were definitely a hit. Very large portion--enough for two meals. Eggs just right. Tortillas good. Enough for 4-5 breakfast tacos. College daughter got the banana crepes and loved them. Cleaned her plate. Ordered grub hub from here several times and every-time was great except yesterday. My mom ordered a Chicken tamale and had to throw it out because it was not only dryer than the Sahara desert on a Monday...but the CHICKEN was spoiled. We had such a great breakfast at this Brandon's Diner! My waffle was crispy and delicious with the strawberries and whipped cream on top. My husband said his omelette was really good. This was one of the few places that was open after 2:30 PM on a weekday. We ordered the: Sizzling steak skillet - not so sizzling, but the steak was juicy, accompanied with the succulent flavor of the bell peppers. This made for a delicious savory dish that the Mrs. and I shared. Banana & Pecan pancakes - soft, fluffy, sweet, with the added crunch of the pecans. Ordered the whip cream on the side. Coffee - ordered black just the way I like it. Lacking a bit in flavor, but hey, this isn't an artisan coffee shop. The servers were attentive and friendly. Excellent service!
