I came to Dahlonega with my family for a Saturday day trip and when it came time for lunch we saw this place had a 5 star rating and 100 health score, so we decided to check it out thinking it must be good. This place did not disappoint. We all ended up getting schnitzel which was really good. I got potato salad with mine which was also really good. The other sides my family got were good as well. The service was top notch. We had a dog with us and they had ample outdoor pet friendly seating. They even brought us a bowl for water (it was a hot day) and dog treats for the dog! For dessert we got homemade Black Forest cake which was pretty good. All in all the experience was very good and highly recommend checking the place out if you're in the area. read more

Simply delicious food that was perfectly prepared. The restaurant was immaculately clean and the owners were delightful to be around. We had 2 diff kinds of sausages, potato pancakes, fried potato wedges, sauerkraut and got an apple strudel w/vanilla sauce to take home! This food is genuinely German and brought back great memories of when I lived in Berlin. We wish your restaurant was closer to us (!) but will definitely be going back again! I have been coming here for years, and the food, service, and ambiance has always been good. The schnitzel is always crispy, and the potato pancakes are to die for. The cheese platters are always a good option, and the deserts are wonderful. For a Friday night dinner, it's wonderful to have- though I do think that something is missing- and that something is ASPARAGUS. I am no food professional or critic, but I think offering a common German vegetable like asparagus is a good way to introduce vegetables that allows fresh balance on the plate, as the only opinions are potato's, mushroom sauce, and cabbage in a sauce as well. I think for those looking for a hearty yet refreshing vegetable as a side- asparagus is the key here. Otherwise- everything was ABSOLUTELY wonderful! read more

Just finished lunch at this incredible traditional German family restaurant. We ordered an Oktoberfest beer and shared schnitzel and bratwurst. Finishing with homemade cheesecake. schnitzel was very flavorful and moist. Bratwurst was excellent. Cheesecake was the perfect ending. Owners are amazing people. 4.8 stars, authentic German experience. Having just been in Germany in December, the food was as delicious and authentic as anything we ate during that trip. Reminded me of younger days with my Bammy who made spatze from scratch. The food was the right temperature and you could tell it was fresh. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. I loved having out door seating on a beautiful weekend and that there was plenty of shade for our kids. They had space available for pups and had fresh water out for them if needed. We didn't go inside but to use the restroom and everything looked clean and well decorated. You can tell this is a place loved by locals. Will hit back up when we are back in town. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our way across N GA and we're delighted by the authentic German fare! Jägerschnitzel was amazing, and I think knee got just about all of the sides. Super friendly staff, and the owner visited with us a bit while we were there. Definitely recommend - will have to make a return trip to try the brats! read more

Simple and straightforward German and Swiss food. Hubs didn't think he cared for German food, but his experience was mostly limited to bratwurst. He has now expanded his repertoire! Hubs had the Jaegerschnitzel; I got the sausage sampler so he could try more things (cervelat, veal brat, and numberger) along with sides of potato pancakes, potato salad, and Spaetzle). Nothing disappointed. Service was fast and friendly. Note there is very limited seating inside. They also serve German beer and local mead, but there is not a full bar. It's a little off the beaten path, but close enough to walk from the Square, and worth the 10 minute walk. read more

Usually when a place has a 5 star review, I think to myself "this is too good to be true", that is definitely not the case for Bratzeit! This is authentic German food and it's DELICIOUS! Reminded me of the food I grew up on, but better. This is a very simple restaurant, order at the counter service, but the food is so good. One thing I wish we knew before we went is that the if you're looking for the fondue - you have to call 24 hours before for a reservation so that they can thaw the cheese. German food isn't meant to be exotic nor fancy shmancy, so don't expect Michelin-stars when you show up to this little unassuming spot in Dahlonega, Georgia of all places. This statement isn't meant to demean the food quality in any way, but the typical 'Merkan thinks that anything outside of hamburgers and hot-dogs should be hoighty-toighty. Bratzeit is just a solid rendition of German food at a reasonable price. First, and let me get this out of the way: The parking sucks. If the restaurant is busy, then do yourself a flavor and park elsewhere. You won't be finding a parking spot on the premises, but this is a hint as to what you are about to get yourself into. We parked across the street at the pharmacy rather than sit and wait for someone to leave. Trust me, it's worth the extra 50 steps that you'll need to walk off after. This place is narrow and cramped, but you aren't here to dance, you are here to eat. Wait in line to order, and be prepared please. The menu is your typical German fare, with a couple tweaks to make it 'Merkan friendly. The menus isn't yuge, so if you have any issues picking something out, then you might have other issues that need addressing. You might notice that some of the other customers are speaking a language that isn't slack-jawed yokel. That my friends, is German. If someone from Germany eats here, then it might be good, right? The food is simple, but well done, like most German food is meant to be. Don't overthink it. Sure the place is small, but that looks to be intentional. The Owner is from Germany, and she makes sure her food is authentic. We also had two delicious German beers. We had German cheesecake, and it was yummy. Excellent food. The best sauerkraut I have ever had, Pork sausage sampler was perfectly seasoned, I've never had such delicious bratwurst, the other two were also wonderful. Schnitzel was tender, crispy, and great with the sauerkraut. House fries are round slices of heaven, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Potato pancakes were great. Yum. First time going to a restaurant after covid-19. Felt safe which is a big plus. First, i was skeptical about 5 star... owner and staff are very nice. I am not a sausage person but liked their sausage. We ordered pretzel, sausage sampler, schnitzel, Sauerkraut, goulash for two boys and two adults. They were all delicious!! Meh. The great reviews must be residual from previous ownership. John is extremely friendly and attentive, but the food is... simply put... bland. Spaetzle was NOT heated in butter. It was dry... no flavor at all. Not even salt. Baguette is shaped like baguette, but in no way otherwise even resembles baguette. It's crappy previously frozen (you can taste the freezer) white bread that is inedible. Other dishes similarly not even worth mentioning. All in all... Very disappointing. read more

There's a tiny German/Swiss heaven in Dahlonega that you'd pass right by if not looking for it but keep your eyes peeled as you don't want to miss Bratzeit. This hole in the wall is much better than the outside exterior suggests. Upon arriving, my guest and I were greeted by a nice lady who handed us a menu full of pictures for those who are unfamiliar with this style of cuisine. I immediately gravitated toward the jagerschnitzel - a breaded veal cutlet with a mushroom gravy - along with spätzel and red cabbage. The kitchen didn't take long to deliver the food despite it being a small setup with one cook (who I assume is related to the kind lady mentioned earlier as it seemed like a family restaurant). Now on to the food... one word - phenomenal. The schnitzel was tender and succulent. The spätzel was home cooked perfectly. The cabbage was sweet yet sour, a perfect blend of tastes. We'll definitely be back to Bratzeit in the near future as it's too good to pass up. You should check it out too. read more

I have only seen 2 other places with similar credentials. Even better was that my family had never tried this place. Our meal and service was excellent! This was the best schnitzel I Have tried in the U.S. I was born and raised in Germany so I was so excited when I saw this restaurant. The mushroom sauce on the jagerschnitzel was on point, as well as the spatzle. The desserts weren't as authentic as I had hoped.
