Honest dine in review: 5/5 top contender for most unique bite of the year. Tap in below: When you're driving through a new part of the world, you always look for the hole in the wall, you know, the one that screams... try me. Look no more. Bread & circus may just be my bite of 2025 for authenticity and just craft with the pairings of flavor we experienced. -Naughty fries: 5/5 Whoever thought about pick chile verde on fries... give them a raise, whoever made this creation. Tears of joy as you dig into a crispy bite of fries with queso fresco that's just putting your taste buds in another dimension. It's hard to explain this one as it's got everything. It has a punch, it has a twist, it has that flavor that leaves you coming back for more, and... makes you sad when it's done... it's just that good of a bite! Please order this, it's something you don't get other than when you explore the US. -Vietnamese fried chicken: 5/5 Fried to perfection in an oil that doesn't taste old. Bread that's perfect in consistency and texturally pleasing, as well as just matched perfectly with a cilantro aioli. Enjoyed every last bit of the sandwich and I wish we had something like this back home... Missing this place right about now. Don't sleep on bread & circus

Food excellent. Had the curry cauliflower sandwich and cherry homemade ice cream. The service was very good and liked the atmosphere. Would stop again if in area.

I made the right choice!! We stopped for a quick lunch in South Dakota and stopped at this lunch spot. It was super busy on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich. It came with a horse radish sauce and carmelized onion. Topped with arugula. The bun was soft and toasty. It was very filling and delicious. Side of kettle chips. Hubs ordered the Vietnamese chicken sandwich. It was a huge chicken breast portion, lightly coated. Very good!!! Highly recommend!

I've been to Bread and Circus twice and both visits have been hit or miss. The first time I had their summertime special which was a pork belly bowl that was filling and delicious, but my mom had the beet salad and wasn't a fan of how heavy it was on the beets (rest of it was good). So if you're a die-hard fan of beets, order it! My recent visit was on 11/27/24 during lunchtime. The space was moderately filled, and I can tell it's a neighborhood favorite. My group of four order a Vietnamese fried chicken sandwich (pickled veg too overpowering), B&C burger (good marks), Drunken Noodle bowl (way too much onion-- white onion + spring onion, and not enough of everything else, though the chicken was delicious), and Moroccan chicken salad (interesting pick of ingredients, good flavor combos). We all shared a plate of house fries that were under-seasoned, but it came with a good house-made ketchup-like sauce. Top marks for great service and speed of delivery. The staff are fun and welcoming. I give service 5, but the food sits at a 3.5. Bathrooms: clean Parking: free lot, but make sure not to park in the other business' spots.

Super cute location and extremely friendly staff. It was a beautiful day that I visited, so I was able to sit outside and eat. I had the chicken sandwich and was not impressed. The flavors were very underwhelming and disappointing. I also ordered a side of fries which were nothing special and the house sauce was a bit strange. The vibe was great and, in my opinion, the food fell short.

stopped here on a road trip and got the house salad with chicken added. it was good and everything tasted rlly fresh. it was honestly really nice to have a somewhat healthier/more nourishing meal on a roadtrip to break up the monotony of burgers!!

Nice spot, friendly service. Definitely a good spot to stretch your legs and grub. Had the Pork Milanesa which was really good and the Vietnamese Fried Chicken which was good but not great (kind of just vinegar slaw on a chicken breast). Nice beer selection and a roomy patio.

Driving my daughter to be dropped off at Minnesota State University and we did a touristy stop at the Falls and had the best sandwich of our entire drive across the USA from CA. The beautiful combinations of flavors of the Carne sandwich. The dressing on the kale to the soft Naan , seasoned meat combined in away to enjoy each flavor in perfect harmony.

We stopped by Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen for a quick sandwich lunch on the way to Pipestone. This restaurant is quite large, with tons of tables inside and out. Over half of the outside dining space is covered and can be enclosed and heated in the winter. We decided to get takeout since we still had several hours left on our drive, but opened the boxes and started eating as soon as we hit the road. Vietnamese Fried Chicken Sandwich ($12) - The star of this dish is quite weak. It's supposedly a buttermilk marinated chicken thigh, but I could barely tell this was a thigh given how tough, dry, and stringy the meat is. The chicken is very lightly breaded and even though it's fried way too long, somehow there's barely any crisp on the breading. Very strange. The chicken piece itself is quite small and doesn't reach anywhere near the edge of the bun - this results in plenty of chicken-less bites as you eat. The bites of chicken you do manage to get are disappointing as the chicken is thin and doesn't make a notable impression due to the sheer lack of mass. It's drowned out by the textures and tastes of the other ingredients. The rest of the ingredients kind of clash with the chicken as well. The "banh mi pickles" only seems to consist of carrot and onion and, while tangy and acidic, also exhibit a very strong fish sauce flavor that I did not enjoy. It especially clashes with the cilantro aioli on top of the chicken. A major problem I noted was that the pickles are quite wet and soggy, resulting in the vinegar (or perhaps the fish sauce?) soaking into the bottom bun and becoming mushy. The sandwich is missing a requisite layer of hydrophobic fat on the bottom (typically a Vietnamese mayo or pate in the case of an actual banh mi) to prevent the soggage. Yet, even though the pickles are wet, the entire sandwich as a whole feels very dry, like it's missing enough fat to add moisture and help meld the flavors. Unfortunately, the best part of this sandwich is the bun, which is quite soft and fluffy. (2/5) Pork Milanesa ($15) - I thought the VFC was dry, but this is even more so. The pork is fried well, giving a nice crisp due to the breading on the exterior, but it dries out the interior quite a bit. The breading is seasoned with herbs and spices, and tastes kind of like if you had a generic "Mexican" flavor potato chip. The pork is sandwiched between two slices of Texas Toast. I think there's a good reason Texas Toast is not used in more sandwiches, other than patty melts. While it's toasted and buttered perfectly, it's thick and only accentuates the dryness of the meat. It also adds additional crunch to the sandwich but the pork is perfectly crunchy already - there's really no need to add more. It would be better on a softer bun to give some contrasting textures. The chicken has two pieces of Oaxaca cheese melted on top and some pineapple salsa - both not added in nearly enough quantities to counteract the dryness of the meat and the bread. Taste-wise, this sandwich is fine. Construction-wise, it could use some work. (3/5) Both sandwiches are served with kettle cooked chips. They're not overly salted are fine as an accompaniment. I came into this restaurant excited for some of the inventive sandwiches. I came out thinking that the sandwiches here just aren't designed or constructed very well. The flavors aren't well layered, the ingredient ratios are off, with bread and meat completely dominating everything else and the textures are a bit boring. Overall, the food here is just kind of okay. Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen is not somewhere I'd want to revisit in a hurry. Bathrooms - Two all gender rooms in the back, ADA accessible.

This casual spot is sure to satisfy your hunger by serving-up both local favorites and unique combinations! The staff here is always friendly and provides wonderful service. Place your order at the register, receive a number, and await your food to be delivered to your table. There is a ramp on the side of the building for accessibility.

Great service and atmosphere. A little pricey but very tasty meal. Staff was super helpful too.

Amazing flavors on great sandwiches the meats are perfectly fried with generous portions on crispy buttered bread . The pork is tender and crispy breading coated and is adorned by fresh mozzarella and a pineapple fresh salsa. The chicken sandwich is topped with a wonderfully large portion of fresh cilantro aioli and great bread .

    Curried Cauliflower Wrap

Perfect spot for lunch when the sun is out. They have a beautiful covered outdoor patio with picnic benches on a quiet little street downtown. Menu is on the chalkboard above the register. Order, grab a number, and find a seat. The staff is very kind and helpful. Highly recommend the curried cauliflower wrap if you're looking for a meat free option. The cauli is perfectly cooked and has a bit of a flavorful kick. All sandwiches come paired with a perfectly crispy chip. The morrocan chicken salad is fresh and tasty. However, the morrocan flavors are understated. I expected more of a hot kick from the harissa cucumbers and more texture from the crunchy lentils. Absolutely worth ordering but balance out your expectations.

And somehow we stumbled right into JL Beers. Or perhaps more accurately, the scent of burgers guided us there like a pair of hungry travelers following a greasy North Star. Either way, what a fantastic little find this turned out to be. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and properly satisfying in the way a good burger should be. Not overcomplicated. Not trying too hard. Just well-prepared comfort food done right. The fries were excellent too -- crisp, well-seasoned, and dangerously easy to keep eating long after I was already full. The service also impressed me quite a bit. Even on a busy Sunday afternoon, the staff remained attentive, friendly, and efficient without making us feel rushed. One unexpectedly fun part of the visit was trying non-alcoholic beer options for the first time. My husband and I are not really drinkers, so this was a little adventure for us. The sparkling hop water was surprisingly refreshing and delightful, while the Athletic non-alcoholic beer leaned a little more bitter than my personal preference. Still, I appreciated finally getting to try some of the newer NA options people have been talking about lately. And honestly, this place wound up becoming one of our gateway restaurants into exploring more of DTSF afterward. We have returned several times since, usually combining it with walks around downtown and trying other local spots nearby. Now, of course, every local already knows the true final boss battle of downtown Sioux Falls: Parking. At some point you simply accept that you are either going to circle the block repeatedly like a confused migrating bird or surrender gracefully and use one of the nearby parking garages. Which honestly is not the end of the world. The walk is good for us. At least until winter arrives and the sidewalks become an Olympic slipping event sponsored by snow, ice, and regret.
