    Chicken Bread Boat
    Barbara R.

Cute place with an outdoor patio. The owner was very friendly, and explained the Georgian wine making process to us. We had the Pkhali platter which included a refreshing change of pace in flavors and textures. The Chicken Bread Boat included cheeses, butter, and egg and nicely seasoned chicken in a pizza-like dough. It was very satisfying!

    Savory beef boat and megruli

Absolutely love this place! I got the savory beef boat and the megruli (cheese pie). The bread boat is fabulous. The bread is light and fluffy with a nice crust. The beef stew and cheese mixture is delicious, and I loved the spices in it. I recommend getting the house sauce with the cheese pie to add a little kick. The service can be a bit slow, but that is because they are making your food on the spot. The dishes came out hot and steaming. They've got a few places to sit inside and outside. I can't recommend this place enough.

I have never had Georgian food and I'm really impressed of this restaurant! The restaurant is kind of hidden and tuck away at the corner and looking from the outside the interior looked really dark - we weren't sure that if it was open at first. Parking was limited, and it's a bit tricky to park. The restaurant is pretty small inside but it has a lot of decorations and pictures/paintings. I like that they have samples for desserts and we love it so much that we took another one lol! We ordered Savoury beef boat, chicken boat, and meat pie. The sour dough was really fluffy. I love the beef boat a lot because of the savoury beef, full of flavour. The meat pie is kind of a hit or miss, I think it's a bit too much for me. However, the beef boat alone is def worth the five star! Service is relatively quick with friendly staff.

This place was absolutely delicious. I got to try several of their bread boats including the classic, the chicken, the beef, and the bacon & cheese, and every single one was amazing. The bread was fresh, the fillings were rich, and the flavors were incredibly satisfying. We also tried their dessert, which was just as amazing.

This place is worth the spike in blood sugar, baby! Everything was delicious. Tried a meat pie (I do wish they offered smaller ones since it's a big boy, meant to be shared), a "bread boat" (khachapuri), and beef stew. Even the side bread that came with the beef stew was excellent. Flavorful meats and decadent breads, what more do you need?!

I love Khachapuri and am so happy that Austin has a place making it so well! This was delicious and a huge portion. They make everything fresh and from scratch! Parking is easy and staff is super friendly.

Had lunch yesterday - it was absolutely amazing! They made the boats while we watched. Everything was fresh and delicious. The owner explained the options to.us, and we tried 3 different boats, with the beets for an appetizer. Highly recommend.

Breadboat Austin delivers on the magic of Georgian khachapuri, and for cheese-and-egg lovers, it's every bit worth the wait. After years of daydreaming about this legendary "bread canoe", three of my favorite foods all melded together, I finally set out to try it. The journey was more epic than expected: three separate DoorDash mishaps and four long days of anticipation, each delivery drama building suspense rather than frustration. When the warm, golden loaf finally arrived, the first swirl of molten cheese and runny yolk in pillowy dough felt like a victory lap. The classic Adjaruli khachapuri at Breadboat is everything you'd hope, gooey, savory, and deeply comforting. Even compared to Austin's other cheesy carb offerings, the unique funk of Georgian cheese and the ritual of tearing and dipping truly set it apart. All this, after my mini saga, made the first bite an absolute triumph: Breadboat isn't just hype. For those who crave cheese, egg, and bread, it's a must-try - just maybe pick it up in person.

I was excited to see another Georgian restaurant pop up in Austin area and had to try it. As their name suggests, they have bread boats or adjaruli khachapuri, but with meat and other toppings which I haven't seen elsewhere. We tried the herbed chicken and savory beef bread boats, the special beets dish, and a megruli cheese pie. I highly recommend the beef bread boat and the cheese pie, which was simple but amazing cheesy bread. The others were good but the chicken tasted like Mexican chicken so it wasn't as special for me and the beets come with a sour plum sauce which I love but the beets themselves were ok and a bit pricy. They have a kiosk to order from and the kitchen is open so the staff if right there to help you with the menu and you can see them making the boats. The space is nice and there's a side patio area that looks nice too.

Original with and extra egg for more protein :)

I was across the street at Shaman when this place was mentioned. We decided to try it for lunch and, boy, we are so glad we did! It is a small but cute place with a nice patio that will be even nicer when the building next door is finished. You order at the counter which is easy and I didn't mind the lack of interaction with someone. There are just 2 busy ladies making everything from scratch in the back. We just ordered the original cheese boat with an extra egg to add some protein and then we got the meat pie. The boat was DELICIOUS! It was hot, cheesy and bready. All the things I wanted it to be. I'm not sure if had that kind of cheese before but it was really good! The spice in the meat pie was addicting and the house sauce was my favorite - get it! Get 2! We will definitely come back!

    Cam H.

I tried the Georgian bread boats for the first time and they were so good! The bread itself was incredibly soft and pillowy, and the melted cheese on top with the beef was perfection. Everything was super cheesy, rich, and unbelievably satisfying. I also loved the plain cheese bread boat, sometimes simple is best, and the cheesiness plus that soft bread was amazing. I wasn't as much of a fan of the meat pie, though. The meat was a bit dry for my taste. Still, the bread boats alone made the meal totally worth it! Also should try their stew. My husband was a big fan of it. Staff were very nice! It's a very casual/chill spot.

Counter; they have like 7-8 tables inside where you can sit and a parking lot out front

I really enjoyed bread boat. It's the first Georgian restaurant I've come across in Austin and it's near where I work so I dropped by. The bread boats are of course what they're known for and they look AMAZING but honestly I could tell just by looking at the box it would be WAY too much food for me. I asked if they do a half size and they said no. Instead, I got a bowl of beef stew which comes with a couple pieces of the same bread. I had been having a lot of congestion all week and the soup ended up tasting perfect and being the perfect amount of food. It was also hearty but not too heavy so it sat really well with me despite being congested! And the bread compliments it so, so well. If I find myself really hungry and over that way, I will definitely try the bread boat some time! Just be ready for a LOT of cheese, carbs, and fat (ie heavy, but delicious).

    Walnut pâtes
    Veronica Y.

The food here is delicious!!!! Bread, cheese and meat... honestly how can you go wrong? The bread is fresh and fluffy, and the filling is generous, creamy, wonderfully seasoned! I mixed it all up before tasting everything individually because I was too busy talking, lol. But the mix was awesome. Also got the walnut pate appetizer which was sooooooo good! The three blobs are mixed with seasonings and each a different veg: beets, carrot, and green bean. Each has a distinct flavor -- I especially loved the green bean one. And it again comes with fresh housemade bread. And the three little peppers are stuffed with even more walnut pate and just so so so good! It's really all as good as it looks in the photos! Must come back for that meat pie --- we saw someone cut into it with a super satisfying crunch sound and rising steam. Everything is really super fresh here. Come, you won't regret it.

Both times, the food has been spectacular, the service off the page, and the atmosphere and ambiance magnificent. We tried three mezzes last night, and each was killer. The hummus was the smoothest I've ever eaten and with the brisket, it was killer! We tried the whipped feta with pistachios, and it was special -- salty/sweet and a little something special to make you wonder just what the spice was. The lamb & beef keftas were also excellent, with the lemon rice and a nice tsadziki -- and we make keftas at home fairly regularly, so we know what a good one tastes like. The only regret that we had was that we only have one stomach each. A second would have allowed us to keep tasting... Don't miss it. Even the patio dining was cool and refreshing -- and it was 86º when we were eating dinner!

Music Lane is a beautiful area with corridors bustling with fresh air, which greatly contrasts the area not too far south of it. Aba lies within these corridors, so I was completely gobsmacked to see the size of the establishment and its number of seating. There are outdoor tables, a dedicated bar section, a decently large interior, and patio and sofa seats for the people waiting. Even then, the place was completely packed, so getting a reservation is an absolute must. Not only are the prices completely reasonable, the food itself had everything that I was looking for: a delicious spread starter, a balanced fiber dish, and an entree with intentional flavors and texture. The Short Rib Hummus is a must get! It is incredibly filling and completely worth the price. The short rib was a nice meat protein since I opted for a seafood main, and the pita bread that it came with was lightly seasoned and was as fluffy as it could possibly be. I could not eat much of my Brussel Sprouts because it was also very large. However it was not too oily or drenched, and each bite had a perfect light crunch, which is the standard for Fried Brussels Sprouts. Top it all off, the Grilled Branzino was the finisher to my savory dishes. The grill gave the fish a roasted flavor, which was complimented by the sweetness from the corn purée. The various greens, roasted tomatoes, and corn pieces themselves added bites of textures and secondary bursts of flavor. I can see why it took a month in advanced to book a decent time at Aba Austin. The atmosphere was so perfect because the air flows through all the doors and windows, allowing the diners to enjoy fresh oxygen. This place is a must visit, both as an experience and a meal that is WORTH the bill.

First comes the wine flight -- amber, gold, pale straw colors catching the light like old varnish. Georgian wine doesn't taste "new world." It doesn't even really taste old world. It tastes ancient. Mineral-heavy, floral in places, a little funky, unapologetically alive. Like somebody buried grapes in the earth a few thousand years ago and decided modernity was optional. Then the khachapuri lands. Not a plate. An event. A blistered, burnished canoe of bread carrying molten cheese, butter, and an egg yolk so offensively golden it looks fictional. Somewhere, a cardiologist wakes suddenly in the night sensing a disturbance in the force. You tear into it anyway. Because human beings were not put on this earth to refuse hot bread filled with cheese. The crust crackles. The center stretches and folds into itself. Butter disappears into the molten lake like it was never there to begin with. It is rich in the way only peasant food perfected over centuries can be rich -- not delicate, not curated, not interested in your wellness journey. Then come the khinkali. These beautiful dumb little meat purses filled with beef, pork, pepper, and scalding broth. There's etiquette involved. You're supposed to hold the top knot, bite carefully, sip the soup first. And for one brief moment everyone at the table becomes united by the exact same thought: "Oh, this is going to end badly." It's glorious. Broth runs down wrists. Black pepper hits the back of your throat. Wine keeps appearing. The room gets louder. Warmer. Looser. Nobody's pretending to be restrained anymore. And that's what I love about Georgian food. It feels completely uninterested in optimization. No tiny portions. No architectural foam. No chef explaining deconstructed emotions harvested from a local hillside. Just centuries of survival distilled into bread, meat, cheese, wine, and hospitality aggressive enough to qualify as a controlled substance. You leave full in a way that feels almost philosophical. Like maybe civilization peaked when somebody looked at bread and thought: "What if we filled it with molten cheese and handed everyone wine until they started hugging?"

Our waiter was very kind and patient to explain the menu since we never had Georgian food before. Unfortunately, all the beers we tried to order were out of stock and he was nice enough to comp it for my S/O. I opted for the pomegranate 75 and enjoyed it! Our appetizer was the beef khinkali and adjarian khachapuri. The khinkali is a dumpling that has a thicker dough wrapping compared to the Asian counterpart, especially at the top. I think I would give the beef/pork one a try before I say it's not for me. The adjarian khachapuri does come with a raw egg but the freshly hot bread and cheese will cook it and melt the butter. It's so creamy! The bread had a crispy outside and soft inside. They complimented each other well. The chakhohbili was simple but good. It was like a chicken and tomato soup. For some, it may be too plain but I felt like it's a good no frills dish. The shkmeruli was a little bland for us. It felt like the creamy version of the chakhohbili but somehow less flavor? Just wasn't for us :) I didn't want to order kebabs/skewers since I could get that anywhere but I'm interested in coming back to try their version!

This one was a bit too overindulgent and sweet for my liking but was definitely worth a try. Portions are huge and can be shared as the donut is not as good warmed over. If you're in the mood for dessert and not think about calorie count, then this is the place.

When I arrived here, the attendant got as excited as I was and walked me through the entire menu gave me all of their popular flavors and his personal suggestions. He was so patient and offered us free samples for gelato flavors per person so between my fiancé and I we were able to try every single flavor that was on their menu. I went there to get the limited edition Yuzu cheesecake flavor, but ended up with the banana show you instead because it was just that much better. I highly recommend going here and trying out your version of favorite. They had some incredible flavors like black, sesame, pineapple cake, Texas sheet cake, mango sticky rice.

They offer a ton of unique gelato options, and the service was genuinely great. We were super indecisive, but they let us try samples, which helped us narrow things down! We ended up choosing the ube and the banana shoyu caramel. Ube is a familiar favorite for me, but the banana shoyu caramel was the standout. It was rich and I was so glad the banana flavor did not taste artificial! Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the mood for a creative dessert. I'd definitely come back and look forward to trying their cookies and chocolates!

When I walked in, I immediately noticed the display of pastries that all looked amazing. There were so many options to choose from. I was only planning to try one or two and ended up coming out with 5 pastries because I could not make up my mind. You wait in line and order at the counter. The staff was friendly and responded to my questions about the pastries and helped me to make a decision. Some of the pastries I tried were the pecan bar, guava cheesecake danish, everything bagel croissant, seasonal kouign amann an a craquelin. I took my items to-go and everything was packed nicely for the journey home. When I got home, everything tasted fresh and had unique and creative flavor combinations. I was so excited about my haul that I had to take a bite of each one. Overall, I can see what the hype is all about. Rockman Bakery has an amazing selection of creative, fresh pastries. I can't wait to try some of their beverages as well.
