Bread Zeppelins is consistently perfect. At different locations and with different employees you still know exactly what your getting. The food is fresh and made right in front of you. Even the picky people can find something they'll love because it's so customizable. I have recommended BZ to many people and there have never been complaints. Tip: if you want the end and/or insides of your sandwich, just ask. You can do that even if you get a salad and I'm pretty sure I've never been charged either way. They turn the extra bread into other items on the menu, but they generally don't use it all and throw it away, so they don't mind giving it away. read more

This used to be a 4 star concept for me. I loved the fresh salad assembly line with the personal touch of chopping and mixing at the end, then stuffing the salad into a crusty sourdough husk. The experience and product were tasty, healthy, and worth the price. But they've gotten lazy and reduced their quality while charging a premium. The salads now use pre-chopped ingredients that takes away a bit of their freshness, and they recently changed from the crusty sourdough to something less crusty with the taste of any generic white bread. If I hadn't experienced the better product then I'd probably be satisfied, but their current product tastes like efficiency and margin. read more

First time ever eating at any Bread Zeppelin. We picked up for the family. Our daughter really enjoyed her salad in a baguette! It's like a portable salad. Cool concept. The rest of us chose just a salad in a bowl. Was okay but nothing overly impressive. The one yuck factor was there was a large clear bag of leaking trash just outside the entrance door. The dumpsters are maybe 10 feet away. Why would you leave it by the front door?!? If I would have been a walk in, I would have never stepped into that place. I've been wanting to try a Zeppelin for a while now and finally got the chance today! I have to say, the Zeppelin exceeded my expectations when it came to freshness of the bread. I kept thinking that my mouth would be torn to pieces after, but the bread was so soft and warm! Service/wait time: I did NOT expect to wait so long in line to order my food. Not only the wait was long to order, but just waiting through line took 20-30 minutes during lunchtime. Granted, the staff was working really hard to get things done as quickly as possible, I just think having one or two more people on the line could have helped to speed things up. Cleanliness: I thought the process was cool where they chop up the salad, but I thought about vegetarians and people with allergies. They don't clean the tables where they chop up the salad after they are done. I would ask to switch out the board or to chop somewhere else if you are worried about cross contamination. Taste: I give the Southwest Zeppelin with chicken a 5/5. The bread was great and soft, and the flavor and toppings were delicious. The only thing I'm knocking a star off for is the cleanliness (tables were dirty inside, no one was around cleaning them) and the line was incredibly long and slow. Bread Zeppelin is a great place to grab a quick and healthier lunch/dinner, especially when "just a salad" won't do. I've frequented the Plano location a number of times and have now been to the new The Colony location several times as well. It's basically a salad bar where the staff puts the salad together for you: 1) Decide whether you want to eat your salad as just a regular ol' salad, or have them stuff it into a hollowed-out, crunchy baguette 2) Choose from one of their own recipes or build your own salad (they have a ton of ingredients to choose from) 3) Select your dressing 4) Salad gets all mixed/chopped together and put inside either a bowl or baguette, depending on whichever option you chose in Step 1 My personal favorite is the Nola w/remoulade dressing stuffed inside a Zeppelin baguette. Sometimes even when I'm craving a salad, I end up feeling unsatisfied at the end of my meal because it was missing 'substance' (read: carbs). Bread Zeppelin solves that problem for me by putting my salad into a carb vessel, and for only an added ~240 calories. Not bad! I'm definitely a fan of this place but I'm docking a star because they need to work on their online ordering system. Last time I placed an online order for "pick up now," I arrived 15 minutes later and they hadn't even started my order. First time at Bread Zeppelin, and went for the salad. There were so many options so I decided to go for one of their signatures salads, the Shanghai with tofu. They chop it up pretty small and it's a decent sized bowl of salad. Flavor was good, but nothing too special for a $10 salad. Next time I'll try the Zeppelin instead. There's plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, I came at 2:30pm so it wasn't crowded. Btw - I tried to eat here last night, but came at 8:45pm, the employee working said they were closed. Came here on a Sunday. There was no shift manager to share this with. The bread wasn't warm so they must have made our sandwiches with bread that had been sitting there for awhile. So I heard about this place on the radio while driving to work. It sounded interesting so I yelped the closest location and one turned up right near the job. I went there and I actually remembered when they were moving into the space and was like I need to go try whatever that is when they complete. As you can figure out I completely forgot. So the concept is you can choose a salad or a Zeppelin. You can order a menu staple item or build your own. I decided on the Atlantis as a Zeppelin. They ask you if everything ok from the original layout then they take it chop up everything. They take the bread and stuff your salad inside. They do ask you how much dressing you want which is what I like because some people like it drenched other like a little dressing. I ordered a side soup as well. When I sat down and opened it up I was happy with my choice. It was SOOO delicious and filling. I love Greek Salads and this version was so good. The best thing about it is that the salad doesn't come out of the other side (WIN!!). The vegetable soup was a little peppery so just a watch out to those who can't take a lot of spice. I've been a Bread Zeppelin fan for some years now, but I was a little let down with this location. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, but the overall experience was irritating. I'm used to a very personable staff at the Plano/Carrollton location, yet the staff here at the newer location did not seem interested in being there. Maybe they were stressed from the amount of people in the shop? I'm also used to the line moving smoothly, but I waited in line for 30 minutes this time. No salad is worth that, but my friend and I really wanted to try out this location. By the time we finished our lunch (20-30 min) only a few other people had checked out...everyone else was still in line. The tables were also all dirty. Please have your staff take care of that. It's unappetizing for your guests to have to clean the gunk off the table before eating. I'll stick to the other locations for now. read more
