We let it go because we were enjoying each other's company.... Food arrived. My first bite of the omelette had an off taste. It just tasted old, not spoiled, but definitely not fresh. The meal was 'meh' at best. "Freshly brewed coffee" looked more like tea, and tasted like watered down old coffee. This was the first time in a LONG time that I left a small tip. Bill was $13.57. This was always my go-to breakfast/brunch place when I was in high school. I love the aesthetic of the restaurant, and it's just so cozy in the cutest way possible. I saw that their Check In offer is free beignets, but unfortunately it's only from 6-11PM. I ate here around 12PM, and found out that they ran out of beignets. From customer service to patiently dealing with our kids, this family owned and runned restaurant was such a sweet surprise for us as a hungry family. They were very accommodating and spoiled our kids with hot chocolate and some candy for the road. My kids got hot chocolate, a plate full of half of Belgian waffles, bacon, hash browns, and bacon! All for a good $7 all together (each). That's the cheapest kids meal we've had for our kids vs. any other breakfast place. Hot coco for $1.50, can't beat that when Denny's charges for the same cup and less quality for double that! Lol Beignets are bomb, go to for appetizer or dessert. It was delicious. This is a mom and pop place that we go for breakfast. We have been here a few times and we get in pretty quickly. Sometimes we come with a larger group and we get seated in the back. Usually there is a wait. This visit I ordered sunny side up eggs, bacon, white bread with potatoes. I sometimes get a side of guacamole since they don't have avocado. The coffee was a bit watered down this time around and my eggs were cooked just a tad bit too long. I still enjoy coming here for breakfast, it hits the spot for me! I cannot say enough good things about this place, we loved it so much that we went back a second time to visit during our trip to San Francisco. I visited this restaurant on a random weekday for brunch and it was the perfect setting to have a relaxing brunch. My friend and I ordered a couple of things off the menu and ended up sharing some of our meals. I ordered an omelette with toast and potatoes and it was PERFECT. The omelette was perfectly cooked and seasoned, delicious. My friend ordered another omelette that included extras like bacon and avocado and it was also perfectly done. Our waitress suggested their beignets and they awesome!!! This was the reason we came back for a second visit, they were amazing. A little hard to find but once you know where to go, you'll definitely be back! It's also walking distance to the UC Bart. Came here on a Sunday morning before starting our day. I ordered the Ranch omelette and it came super hot, smothered in cheese, and with crispy hash browns. My fiancé ordered the Patty melt even though it was only 9am. I tried the country fried steak, it was very thin too, like a patty but thinner, but still pretty tasty. The beignets were very good though and they are free when you check in on yelp (I wish I had known ahead of time but they are only $2.50 for 5 pcs so not bad at all). Would I come back? I love this place. I've been coming here since my senior year of high school back in 2014. I actually wanted to write this review after seeing their instagram post pop up on my discovery feed. Their food is great and helps diversify the day to day routine of buying fast food or at home cooking due to the pandemic. I love how the place is a small and family oriented setting since it sets up an "at home" kind of vibe. This especially needed if you need to get away from today's stresses on your own or catch up with some friends and family you may have not seen in a while. The staff here - like many other restaurants - are human beings who are also experiencing their own burnout and various emotions. Please do not be so quick to judge and ruin their business. I have heard a lot of good things about Break Your Fast so I definitely had to try it out. When we first got here there was an insanely long wait. We had a party of 6 and they were able to seat us outside after about 45 mins. Not too bad. The place isn't so big and it was nice out, so we didn't really mind. Now if they sat us outside during the winter, I think I would be slightly annoyed. I ended up ordering the Country Breakfast. It comes with eggs, sausage patties, country potatoes, and biscuits & gravy. This plate was food was so big! I should have shared it with someone. The potatoes were bland and needed to be a little crispier and the biscuits were really dense and heavy. The best part was the gravy. YUM! The first thing I noticed was when I took a bite, I could taste old oil that they've used to fry the chicken and the waffles. They may have used the same oil. It was really disgusting. The chicken was moist enough but I couldn't shake off the taste of the old oil. It was disgusting. I gave it two stars because the Beignets were ok. The only downside is that the space is small inside and it closes at around 2pm. Also, waiting could take a while especially on weekends and there are barely any seats outside. It would suck to wait if it was raining. I always get the same, Corned Beef hash Benedict with rice. I'm Asian so rice is my best friend! Their potatoes are also just as good. I personally don't like the muffin or bread it comes with but others say it's tasty. The sauce they use taste perfect with my meal. Service is also great! We ordered a Eggs Benedict w/ extra side of potato and when we went to pick it up, the woman behind the counter was nice. Doesn't seem too busy at all. The Eggs Benedict was good not drop dead good but what I was surprise was the eggs, they were runny, which is surprising from a takeout place. The biscuit however was a tad bit tough, not sure if they over toast it, I felt that I had to drench it with the hollandaise sauce, luckily they gave a lot. This place is really great. I enjoy breakfast here with my girlfriend 2-3 days a week, and we're really sad that they're closed on Tuesdays; I'll also have breakfast with mom here on Mondays. I personally enjoy the spinach and feta omelette, and I get it with the rice and sourdough bread. The flavour is just incredible and I've never had any issues with it with undoubtedly over a hundred visits here- they nail it and I leave satisfied every single time. I use to get the oatmeal and I recommend it to others. I still try to get it, but lately I've been less hungry than before and I don't know why. I'm not sure where they get their oatmeal, but something about it just seems better than the brands I can find off the shelf (and I'm sure that's what most others use)- they can cook it in milk if you prefer although I aim to be a bit more healthier. Service is fast. We've been seated quickly even if it's busy and full. I think the only time I've had to sit outside after a small wait was Christmas a year or two ago, and we showed up rather late into the morning. They are also friendly and personable- I like all of them although I have to give Colin and James a shout out! Hey! It's very surprising because they're located near the BART station and I've definitely seen them handle a few unpleasant and undeserving guests. I've heard it's impossible to achieve great quality, good and fast service, and at a low price. Be prepared to see the impossible. Previously named Jimmy's Place, Break Your Fast has the same menu offerings. A petite restaurant, so seating fills very quickly. Once we were seated, we browsed our menus. Before looking for my main course, I still wanted to know if beigents were available. Coming off a recent trip from Louisiana, I was craving for some good old fashioned beignets. Break Your Fast serves beignets and we placed an order of that. Five pieces for around $3 isn't a bad deal. Lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped and drizzled with sweetened condense milk, tasted great. Soft and fluffy, bringing me back memories of my visit to Louisiana. For my breakfast main course, I went with the corn beef and hash benedict. Corn beef and eggs are one my favorite food combinations. This dish is composed of two English muffins, topped with a bed of corn beef and hash, two poached eggs covered with hollendaise sauce. With this entree, you can side choices of potatoes or rice to go with it! My Asian side wanted rice, but I went with the traditional potatoes for breakfast. Everything tasted great! The corn beef and hash were nicely flavored. The eggs were soft and runny. The muffins were toasted, yet soft to bite on to. The potatoes were a mixture of crispy and soft, not over cooked.
