The food and service was impeccable just like always never have to wait for your coffee always were on top of everything. It was peaceful and quiet because of the time of day we went in and I would go many more times. I was just kind of shocked about the cost of some of the add-ons I wasn't expecting that. So it made the bill a bit higher than what we had anticipated. I will know for the future not to ask for those extra things that normally in most places would be free or even minimal amount, but was just more than they expect them to be. read more

I had a great experience at this small local place. The food was hot and home made. The corn beef hash was delicious and was an excellent side to my eggs and blueberry pancakes. The food was so good, I had to get a quart of chicken soup to go. The help was terrific. The ladies were very warm and pleasant and always kept my coffee cup full. This establishment came recommended from a local and it was unassuming on the outside and comfy on the inside. Our waitress was extremely nice and pleasant and the food was delicious, I would easily go back and try everything on the menu. But..., yes, there is a but Don't water with your meal unless you're willing to pay for it, don't expect to use the restroom because it doesn't work and if you were ever half of something not because you ordered a half order but that's all that was left of a specific item you will not be charged the half price rate they will just take one dollar off of the full price rate Which is kinda bullshit. I'm not sure if it was the doing of the cook or whoever was in the back but that's what happened. need to take a refresher course on business management. You can't run a restaurant and not offer your patrons freewater or a toilet. read more

I'll admit that when it comes to breakfast foods I'm very spoiled because I live right near the greatest breakfast spot in Rhode Island (tiggers in Pawtucket) but I try to keep an open mind about other places and foods. I check out this place with a friend and was shocked at the pieces compared to what I'm used to. I made my choice and got an omelette with home fries and toast. I ordered water, not because I assumed it would be free, but because it was what I wanted. I was shocked however that for $2 I was given a small bottle of generic "filtered" water with no option for simply a free glass of ice water. My friend ordered a diet coke which was a 12 ounce can for $3! The prices in the menus posted here are no longer correct. Ok... so we got our food. My omelette and this pancakes. Now we noticed in the menu that it says "additional plates are .50 cents extra" and both thought it seemed odd. When the food came and my friend saw the pancakes were the size of the plate (not huge) he asked if an additional plate was really going to be .50 cents because he'd like to have a place to cut the pancakes on. The waitress unsympathetically said yes and asked if he wanted one. He said nope, I'll just make mess of the table if I have to and the waitress walked away. We agreed there may be people who order one meal and want to share so MAYBE that's why there is a plate charge, but with a clear and fair explanation it seems the waitress could have waved the .50 cent charge. Oh well.... I'm not in the Bellingham area for breakfast often, but I'll cross this place off my list of possible places. I wonder if we could have brought in our own extra plate?! Have been going to the Breakfast Nook for years, food was always great, over the last few months the food has been hit or miss, the pancakes and french toast come out "over done" the bacon is usually cold, has a film of fat on it, like it has been sitting for a while. Over the past few months it seems to take longer to get food, even when it is not crowded, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon to take over 10 mins when there are only 2 tables occupied, come on!!!! On the weekend Barbara is our favorite waitress, she is kind, personable and always gives great customer service, Ashley always has a big smile on her face, when we have had her for a waitress, she is always friendly. New girl (not sure of her name) on the weekend seems to be good as well. I hope they evaluate and get the pancakes and french toast and bacon up to a better palet taste. read more

Unfortunately, we won't be coming back anytime soon. We've had three bad experiences in a row over the span of four months. A few of the lowlights: Poached eggs oozing water Undercooked home fries Burnt bacon Unevenly browned sausages Overdone scrambled eggs Overall, it looks like the kitchen staff has changed, or just lost their mojo. Came on a Saturday morning for breakfast and sat at the counter. After about 7 minutes someone finally asked if we wanted something to drink. It then took another 5 minutes or so for us to flag down someone and ask for menus. Ordered pancakes and bacon, and my wife ordered eggs and toast. Bacon looked like the precooked stuff you microwave, tasted of burned oil and nothing else. Pancakes were flavorless and undercooked in the middle. read more

It was a full house when we were sat at the counter. We watched as to go orders were placed prior to the in house orders. We waited over 40mins to get our simple breakfast. Eggs and toast. I observed the wait staff go to the kitchen and move orders forward that were just placed. Leaving our ticket to be pushed down the line. I mentions this to my husband. Thankfully one of the men in the kitchen saw what I was saying. He stopped the waitress from putting order prior to the orders already in line to be made. Food was mediocre at best. Being honest! I heard about this small little place in Bellingham for great Breakfast I was skeptical!! Finally tried it on Sunday around 11am A few minute wait and We were seated. I ordered the Veggie Omelet loaded with veggies home fries and toast (Home fries a little greasy but I'm sure people love that!) I didn't even ask if there was a fruit to substitute! My friend had a ham scrambler (smaller in size than the omelet) A side of perfectly cooked bacon Oo and of course we tried the pancakes So good we didn't finish! I went to the breakfast nook this morning after I had called in my order. I saw my order ready in the window for 10 minutes. They had 3 tables in the restaurant, one woman was taking calls while one girl looked around clueless. I waited in side for 15 minutes. When I finally got my food she forgot half the ingredients on my order (lettuce, tomato and mayo) and also forgot my drink. I will never go back! My Wife, Mother-in-Law and I have been searching for a new breakfast place with our new location - this is not it. The service was border-line non-existent with us having to flag down the waitress (this was on a Tuesday morning where it was slow and there were two waitresses on staff) to just try and get coffee, we were never asked if everything was ok - there was absolutely bare minimum interaction with our waitress. My wife's strawberry large pancake was half-way decent but nothing out of this world, my mother-in-law's omelat was huge but overall disappointing according to her; my Eggs Benedict was DISGUSTING. The eggs were borderline poached - and the hollandaise sauce looked like it had solidified when it was presented, solidified like someone microwaved cheese or something. The homefries may have been decent, but if you're a breakfast place and cannot do Eggs Benedict correctly - you're not a breakfast place. I myself can cook bacon, pancakes, an omelette, etc. But Eggs Benedict requires actual skill - something this place along with its service lacks entirely. Voted #1 in Bellingham? Well, that speaks poorly of Bellingham rather than highly of this establishment - go elsewhere for your breakfast. read more

We went here today for breakfast. It is Sunday at 9:30. Went right in and sat down. The waitress was very attentive. I ordered the big breakfast. 3 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, home fries and rye toast with home fries. I also ordered a side of hash. They make it themselves. It was very good. All the food I got was very good. My wife ordered eggs benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly. English muffins were toasted and canadian bacon was cooked well also. The Hollandaise was a powdered version out of a can and it was way too thick. There was way too much on the plate. They should thin the sauce a bit and put less on the eggs.Other than that she loved the dish. This was our first time here and I always drive buy saying I want to go there. Do not go to this place on a Sunday! On 2 separate occasions I was given really bad customer service. The first time I went, it took 10 minutes for someone to clean off our table and 30 minutes to receive our food. The second time, it took 45 minutes to receive our food and noticed the food came directly from a microwave at the waitress station to our table. REALLY?! On both occasions, the waitress never acknowledged the fact that it took so long, so it's obvious to me that this must happen often. If I wanted my food microwaved, I would've ordered hot pockets. Unacceptable!
