I ordered these on takeout; so it wasn't the full dining experience due to it being so crowded and more loud inside BUT... I'm so disappointed. I saw these cereal milk pancakes all over instagram and wanted to try them for a while due to loving special jazzed up pancakes. They were a total letdown. Snooze pancakes literally run circles around Breakfest republics. They had false advertising about putting cream in the middle of the layers of pancakes (3) but there was none besides a thin layer on top. The cream wasn't very sweet at all, and basically tasted like a more melted version of marscapone without the sugar or vanilla. They're just bland pancakes made with a few fruity pebbles. I've gotta be honest in my reviews, and I would never order anything else from this place based on what I got. They missed the mark for such an overhyped trendy place. Overall, flavor was a 3 out of 10 and the pancakes were dry due to having not enough cream. Not enough sweetness to balance, and really just bland. I added two stars for the presentation because they do look very beautiful which is deceiving. read more

I went to Breakfast Republic last weekend for brunch with some friends and we had a great experience. I ordered the stuffed French toast with peanut butter and caramelized bananas. It was very flavorful and tasted really good. The only thing is that it was very rich and had a lot of peanut butter, so I'm not sure I would order it again, but it was definitely delicious and a fun thing to try. My boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict and he loved them. His only comment was that there was almost too much food, which isn't exactly a bad problem to have. Our waiter was very attentive, kept our drinks flowing, and was very friendly throughout the meal. Overall it was a really enjoyable brunch and a great spot to go with friends. read more

This was my first time at this location and we were stoked to arrive at 9am on a Sunday to a non-busy restaurant, beating the sunday brunch rush. Instead, our service was so delayed and absent we were forced into it becoming much busier which snowballed into every aspect falling short. The worst thing that can happen to you as a guest is being forced to send your meal back for being cold. It's really a lasting memory of a place which doesn't make you want to return. They seemed understaffed (at least front of the house), which is odd for a prime business day. Our server sat us inside at a dirty table she quickly brushed off. We assumed someone would come back to properly clean it but nope, we had to flag her down to request it. Although we indicated we were waiting for 1 more person, I would have thought waters would at least be brought over, or asked if we wanted to start with anything to drink as we waited. Got our drink orders in which caused another delay in putting in our food orders. Then... we sat. and sat and sat. I had to flag our server down for anything. What's the point of a bottomless drink if you can barely get a refill? I had a feeling once our orders came there would issues. Long delays usually mean my food arrives cold. And I'm sorry, its just unacceptable for breakfast food. I started with the potatoes and when I discovered they were cold, I was disappointed but wouldn't have said anything if the rest was fine. But nope, cold eggs. I refuse to eat cold eggs. This is a food runner problem; I don't blame the kitchen. My food sat on the counter too long (which is easy to happen with breakfast food). However with Breakfast in their name, I don't really have understanding. I had to once again flag down our absent server who came back huffy thinking I was impatient for the salsa I requested. This girl is just a really bad server. I won't blast her in my review, but if the business owner wants to contact me about it, I'm happy to discuss. NOW she became concerned and present. NOW she indicates she'll check back on us. The order was sent back and I don't know if it was remade or reheated, it was barely warm for second attempt. I'm over it at that point. Within several minutes it was as cold as the first delivery but I just ate it. Decided to eat the eggs (not great for leftovers) and save the potatoes/brussels to reheat to desireable temp as a meal at home. Breakfast Republic in North Park has easily become one of our absolute favorite breakfast spots. We keep finding ourselves coming back again and again, and it never disappoints! I'm completely obsessed with the Breakfast Sammy--it's hands-down the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, and I basically order it every single time without fail. Perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon(THE BACON is the best bacon I've had!)... I could eat it every day. The French toast was solid--definitely tasty and a generous portion--but it was a tiny bit on the dry side for my taste. Still totally enjoyable, just could've used a touch more moisture or syrup love. Service is always friendly, the vibe is fun and lively (love all the chicken decor), If you're looking for a go-to brunch place in North Park, this is it. We'll be back (probably next weekend ). They don't take reservations so you have to put your name down and just wait. Let me warn you. .they give alot of food!! They have pancake and French toast flights for us greedy people! I ordered the buttermilk, strawberry cheesecake and cinnamon roll pancake, fennel chicken sausage omelet and the French toast flight. The star player on the pancake flight was their cinnamon roll with walnuts and glaze! You will not be disappointed! The omelet was pretty good, the chicken sausage was flavorfull. The potatoes are kind of bland though. The French toast flight was strawberry and marscopone, brioche and their mr Presley ( which is stuffed with peanut butter) and bananas on top. There were a couple of hiccups but I would go back. I mentioned no bacon on the mr Presley and sadly my mr Presley had no peanuts butter as well. The chicken sausage omelet had bacon in it also. We came on Sunday afternoon for a party of 2 and left extremely disappointed with the food and service. We waited 10 minutes before receiving any water, the waiter gave zero introductions and took our orders. We ordered French toast, power bowl, and the fried chicken Benedict. Waited another 20 minutes for the food to come out, to which the power bowl had a short strand of hair on the plate, and zero silverware given out yet. We had to ask 2 different people before we were given silverware, waiting around another 5 minutes. The power bowl steak was so rubbery that we left it untouched. Waited another 10 minutes after we were done eating to flag down our waiter for the check. In total, we only had two 1 minute interactions with our waitress and waited around about 40 minutes waiting for her. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, however we were seated with no wait and multiple empty tables around us. I've never had to leave a review like this but it was extremely disappointing and the worst service I've received to date. read more

Not much to say about BR besides that it's overhyped. It's a big chain in San Diego that is practically in every other neighborhood in South County. The menu is large but food is pretty mid. We ordered breakfast: chilaquilles w/ carne asada and the vegan breakfast burrito. The chilaquiles were fine, eggs were a little undercooked and the carne asada was chewy and had NO flavor (for an extra $6 charge). My friend ordered the vegan breakfast burrito with no vegan beef strips and it came with what seemed like extra so she was picking them out. We arrived around opening and it wasn't too difficult to get a table. The inside is very fun with a lot of chicken themes. I loved the salt and pepper shakers in the shape of eggs. The menu had a great selection. We started with the Jurassic Bloody and the Lychee Mimosa. The Bloody was pretty good. I love that it came with a big thick piece of bacon. I wish it was a little more spicy but it was good! The lychee mimosa was spectacular. I love lychee and I could drink these all day. This was a really cool spot with a nice outdoor patio. The service was really good. They were on point and got the food to the table really quick. I wanted to try the shrimp and grits but settled for the bacon jalapeño cheddar sausage omelet. It was good but I felt like the sausage could've been cooked more. The texture was more on the soft side. My daughters got the steak and eggs and said it was decent but could've been better. My wife enjoyed her meal. On a Sunday, it took about 20 minutes to get a table, so my husband and I took a walk around the neighborhood while we waited for the text that our table was ready. He ordered a non-vegan dish, and I went for the vegan Jammin' Bennie. The food, however, took forever to come out. It was honestly ridiculous, and seeing other tables' food arrive, I couldn't help but wonder if my vegan option was the hold-up. That said, the Jammin' Bennie was fantastic! Everything about it was spot-on, and I especially loved the vegan sausage. The potatoes, though, were a big disappointment, not for me. Breakfast potatoes are a big deal in my house, and these just didn't hit the mark. While I really enjoyed the Bennie and was excited to come back, the slow service is a huge drawback. I would keep coming back just for that. - French Toast sampler for 2: S'mores, Banana Split, and Mr. President. We tried our best to get through these but we got so full. The banana split was my favorite. I'm a sucker for a brulee. My husband has more of the sweet tooth so he was in sugar heaven. We also ordered a side of bacon (not special to report there), vanilla latte (decent), and bottomless strawberry lemonade. Very cute decor and menu selections. However, the service needs some serious help. Everyone was friendly but no one knew what they were doing or what their role was and it showed. They kept bringing us multiple duplicate dishes. People kept coming to the table asking us questions that had already been asked and answered. And it wasn't just our table, we heard it from tables all around us. Also, the food was warm, at best. But I'd imagine if the front end is that disorganized, the kitchen is just the same. First time at this location and it was my least favorite due to parking and interior felt cluttered. You have to search for street parking. We had to circle between 3 residential streets near by about 3-4 times on a Saturday late morning. Wait was pretty long as well about 45 minutes. Service and food was still great. And a little beer flight made us feel better. Omelet- we upgraded the potatoes to brussels sprouts and it was chef's kiss. Brussels sprouts were crispy and savory.
