Now that's a pizza!! Loaded edge to edge, the crust was the right amount of chew and crunch, the hot honey left a nice spicy heat on my tongue and complimented every topping. If all of the pizzas at Brenz are like this one I'll order more! The order, even with delivery, took less than 30 minutes (I live 0.5 miles from Brenz). It was piping hot and delicious! I was on search of something different and came across the Real Dill at Brenz. I LOVE pickles so I thought this was a perfect choice. The crust was delicious and the toppings were great! Pepperoni 'za for dinner last night for a full-on Friday night comfort food/nostalgia throwback. I normally get one of their delish fancier pizza options, but this simple pep did not disappoint! Next time I might go with extra toasted or a pizza triangle cut because the middle squares were a bit floppy (but I'm an outside/crust lover myself). 20 mins tops for a pickup order around 6pm and it was almost too hot to eat when we got it home. What a fantastic way to end our night. My friends wanted to see Beetlejuice and then get pizza after the movie. We never knew of this place, and when it popped up, we agreed to check it out. Their pizza was amazingly delicious. My friends got a veggie pizza, one got pepperoni and cheese, and I got easy on the cheese with double pepperoni. I highly recommend this place. In trying the spinach artichoke pizza (olive oil base; chicken) and the heartland pizza (red sauce; pepperoni/bacon), I can say that Brenz is a Jack of All Trades in the pizza game. 22 pizzas + a build your own option means that you're bound to find something that you like. Pretty darn good. I thought it was one of those fast-fired pizza places and it's not, so there was a short wait while they cooked it. It's small, and handy to the Lennox mall, and has quite a menu plus build your owns. No kid's menu, but there is cheese bread and cinnamon bites, so Baby K was covered. She said the bread wasn't as good as Jet's, but the cinnamon things were better. She spilled her drink, and the staff were super good about cleanup, plus patient with her in general. Smaller cups might be nice, for kids. My rustic pizza (pepp, sausage, onions, etc.) was quite good. Good crust, good sauce, good toppings. Better than some "gourmet" places. We'll be back. read more

A new to us pizza place near Graceland. The pizza is a little thicker than your usual Columbus-style pie, but not too thick. There was just enough char on ours. Pepperoni with good cupping. My only suggestion is that the sauce is a bit on the sweet side. Service was friendly. Price seemed reasonable for a plain pepperoni pizza (under "custom"). In the search to find my favorite pizza joint in Columbus, I gave Brenz a try. They are currently delivery or take out only, so I called ahead and placed an order for take out. The online menu offers a good selection of specialty pizzas, and at the bottom talks about a seasonal pizza deemed 'The Local'. The Local is no longer a seasonal pizza, but rather two additional pizzas, called 'The Heartland' and 'Midwest Special' that are now permanent selections on the menu (although not listed on the website). I ended up ordering an 8" Heartland pizza -- red sauce, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, balsamic caramelized onions, roasted red peppers topped with shaved parmesan and fresh basil. Interestingly, the prices are as follows: 8" ($7.99), 12" ($15.79), 14" ($19.49), 16" ($23.49). I did a double take when I first saw this -- you can get two 8" pizzas for essentially the same price as one 12". Not sure how that makes sense, but alright! Anyways, after I placed my order I was told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I showed up right at 20 minutes to find that my pizza hadn't even been started yet -- talk about disappointing. I understand restaurants are short staffed, but I would have been fine if they told me it would take 35-40 minutes -- I would have just stayed at home longer. So after paying and waiting for another 15 minutes in the store, I finally had my take out pizza. Now on to the pizza. The toppings gave it a good flavor, especially the balsamic onions. However, I was not a fan of the crust and that's strictly personal preference. I tend to favor a thinner crust, and Brenz crust is a bit thicker than a traditional hand tossed pie. During my wait, I watched the pizzas run through the conveyer oven and noticed that during cooking, the crust rises so much that the employees have a tool (think gardening hand rake attached to a long wooden pole) that they stick in through the side of the conveyer to prick at the crust and let the air out so that is falls. Overall, average pizza combined with the extra wait time gives this joint 2 stars in my book. read more

Wow!! I was deciding between the soup shop two doors down and this pizza shop and I'm sooooo happy with my choice. I'm sure soup would have been delicious but holy cats was this salad and pizza satisfying! And the customer service here is super. The staff are genuine, attentive, and enthusiastic. Each 8 inch was around $7.50 which seems fair ... but I felt like I was not completely full after an 8 inch so that's why I think I wish it were more filling or the 8 inch costed less. If I upgrade to the 12 inch for $13, I'm curious if I'd be full / if it's more financially worth it. All in, the pizza did taste wonderful and it's up there in favorite pizzas in the area! The pizza is great -- doughier than traditional Columbus style with a respectable ratio of toppings and dough. The pizza is wonderful but then the CinnaBrenz... that'll have you hooked. After being quite full, my husband and I finished this entire tub. Savory and sweet perfection. Normally im a well done crunchy pizza guy but this is the exception this is the best pizza place in THE Columbus area, if you haven't tried it already please do and try the breadsticks. The breadsticks are to die for as the top layer is soft and still doughy but still cooked and as you go down it's cooked and yet still doughy, highly recommend and and I can guarantee I will be returning. I've had Brenz before and loved it! Their ranch is so good and the crust is buttery. On my most recent trip, I was let down. The service was fast and kind, but my pizza was drenched in hot honey. I ordered the heritage honey. This was a new pizza for me to try, and I loved all the toppings so I was excited. I knew there was hot honey, and I like hot honey. When I got home and opened the box, I was shocked at the amount of hot honey on my pizza. It was pooling across the top and had started to seep into the bottom of the box. First time customer and they lost my future business and I doubt they care. On Sept. 23rd around 3:30pm we stopped in for a meal. Party of two. Two separate order of wings and side salads (no croutons). Two checks. First order salad arrived with croutons. Then first order wings came out. Then my salad (with croutons again). I kept waiting for my wings. My other party finished their meal and finally the staff came back out and apologized and went to check on my wings. Then more waiting. Basically a catering order came in and they forgot the rest of the second order. I asked after waiting over 30 minutes if they could put it in a box to go at this point. When they came out, he stated "sorry for the miscommunication". There was no miscommunication, you just missed the order. Not even any sort of compensation or 10% off or on your next order or anything. It was just not a good experience. I gave some time before writing this review. The person taking the order was great, went out of her way, and you could tell she felt terrible. The second time she came out I felt bad for her for having to explain to us the croutons and orders, etc. Manager I am guessing is the one that made eye contact and sent another person over at the end (the miscommunication guy). To be fair I did take my wings home and toss them in the oven a little later and they were delicious. If you do go there I can say the garlic parm wings are good but not good enough for me to return. If dining in they should give you a salad in a real bowl with a real fork, or at least not put the plastic lid on the cardboard bowl after they already asked if it was dine in or takeout. While on a business trip, eight of us went to Brenz Pizza in Columbus OH. We called ahead and they suggested we get the: Tres Amigos, BBQ, and the Classic. We did. And - wow, this pizza was amazingly good. I am a pizza snob and this place passes with flying colors. While we were there, we saw people coming in and out, it was a happenin' place to be. Everyone had a smile on their face as they ate their choice of pie. Additionally they have breadsticks, wings, salads, sub and wraps. We did not try them. The first time I had this pizza was at a work meeting in Grandview. I loved the bruschetta pizza. It was truly memorable. I kept meaning to go into the shop to get this pizza again, but it actually took several months. I did on Saturday and it was spur-of-the-moment because it is next door to Nothing But Bundt, where I was headed to use a Groupon before it expired. First I stopped in to order a pizza and salad for carryout. After picking up the cake, I waited for my order. The place is small, but has a decent dining area, with 2 tv's. The register gal was very nice, and when ready, she brought my order to me. I took it home to share with my husband and the bruschetta pizza was every bit as good as the first time I tasted it. I stopped in (for the first time) to Brenz for a simple personal cheese pizza to go. Yes, you can call me basic or plain, but that was what I wanted that day. I did not have to wait long for my pizza to cook. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to take a bite and enjoy the flavor and consistency of the crust.
