Tommy has always been just the BEST pizza in Columbus as far as I'm concerned! That thin crust , delicious sausage and hint of sweet sauce , just can't ever go wrong with it. But don't dine in. The place is rundown and looks as if it needs a very deep clean. The carpet looks original and the air vents are just covered in dust/dirt. The service was good for us and she was a busy lady! Decided to try a family owned business tonight, came into an unwelcoming environment, no other customers, no music, half closed dining area, and dust covered decor. The waiter was extremely friendly and professional, however, the cooks were not. Coming back and forth from the kitchen joking about smoking crack.. An obvious joke but in combination with all following, worth the mention. Our app came out first(cheddar cheeseballs), was pretty good! Then shortly after, I got my italian sub. Bread was really overcooked, and very little meat, but for $5 wasn't the worst. Not something I would ever come back for. 15 minutes later, my boyfriend's steak sandwich came out. We were joking about how they must be in the back burning it (after my sandwich had been so overdone, and it was taking so long to bring out) but we couldn't have expected what he got. What came out was nothing better than a cafeteria hamburger, putting it lightly. It was so dry that it was literally fibrous. I spoke with the waiter and he generously agreed to comp the sandwich, but the front desk lady was not so accommodating. She loudly exclaimed about how they aren't gonna comp unless we gave back the sandwich, all yours!! Then she proceeded to loudly discuss how it didn't make sense with the cooks. Visiting Columbus for a conference, staying downtown. Too tired after the event ended on Friday to leave the hotel. Found Tommy's in a list of best Columbus style pizza, and they were one of the few options that offered delivery (ended up being via DoorDash). Was worried about reviews we found here after ordering, but ended up very happy. From order to arrival at hotel took around 45 minutes (had been estimated to be up to 70 minute wait). Pizza was still warm when it arrived, and it was delicious. Love the flaky thin crust. Toppings were plentiful. Lightly sauced (if you prefer more sauce, add extra when you build your pizza order). We're crust dippers, so we added on a side of bleu cheese. Not sure if they make it in house or if it's a local brand, but it was one of the best bleu cheese dressings I've had. So disappointed with our pizza and Italian sub tonight. It's been a while since we've treated ourselves to what we've always loved, for more than 40 years. The last time we ordered, about a year ago, wasn't great but we thought maybe it was a fluke. But tonight there was very little, if any, dressing on the sub so it was lacking in flavor. The meat on the sub was very tough and obviously not the capacolla ham they used to use. A total of two banana peppers on the entire sub. We ordered our pizza with mushrooms and counted nine tiny shrooms on our small pie and the pizza was so salty that we couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it away. However, I had a poor experience when ordering delivery online directly from their website (versus via Doordash, for example). I did not get what I ordered. It's pretty close to lots of OSU attractions. This is the busiest during the football season. It has similarities to local rivals like Donatos and Iacano's. Just in case you didn't know, Tommy Iacano opened this place. They specialize in a cracker thin crust, which is popular for some reason. It's not my kind of pizza. Luckily they have good subs. Inside it looks pretty old looking and has been there forever. It has several dining areas inside. There's a private area that's good for parties. It has a pretty standard pizza and sub menu. They also have beer on tap. It's not much of a selection, but you have a few choices. There's Bud Light, CBC, and Molson. It's about $3 a pint. It comes in a plastic mug. This feels kind of cheap, but it adds to the charm. I had a vegetable sub. It's about $7 for the full size. This comes with cheese that I left off, Italian dressing, mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. It's more family friendly compared to the location closer to campus. It's still a good option for a game day meal. This has a ridiculously cramped parking lot and it's hard to get out. read more
