I've finally gotten the chance to express my feelings about Brew Cha. I was extremely excited and glad when another boba place opened up in the Mission, fairly close to where I live. Upon entrance of the store, I was thrilled. Another very modern boba spot where I could either chill with friends or study. I feel like locations that provide space to study is extremely rare in San Francisco, so Brew Cha is definitely adding more to that limited list. I'm glad that they're open a little later than the usual spots. During my first visit, I ordered a hot Panda Milk Tea with Oat Milk. To my delight it came with free boba. The Panda Milk Tea had a very strong Earl Gray Flavor which was great. However, I think because of the oat milk, my drink tasted extremely watered down. My partner got a Genmaicha with oat milk and he felt that it was watered down as well. My second visit, I ordered a Blueberry Black Tea. I overall didn't like the drink as much. I didn't taste the blueberry flavor as much and only saw like three small, whole blueberries on the bottom, and then the black tea taste was on the bitter end. I honestly really wanted to love their drinks because it seems like the perfect place to just enjoy myself, but I think I would temporarily avoid the place for now. Maybe I'll go back another time in the future. Don't get me wrong, the environment and the staff were great. However, my experience with their drinks weren't as pleasant. I also didn't get their more popular, unique drinks, so I would suggest trying those out before branching out to try other ones. read more

It had a light sweetness and more milky taste and texture. A great sweet --but not too sweet-- option! The roasted oolong milk tea stood out for its strong tea taste. The boba was pretty good: sweet and chewy with medium softness. The sweetness of the boba really complemented the strong tea taste. The only minor change I'd make for my personal preference is to add more milk, as I personally enjoy a more milky milk tea. Anyways, it's impossible to accommodate exactly to everyone's taste, but I still enjoyed this drink. What also stood out to me was their menu. They have a diverse selection of milk teas, fruit teas, specialty drinks, and slushies, as well as numerous toppings to choose from. I'm especially impressed by their tea selection in the milk tea, you have a lot of options and I like that they were very specific about the type of tea leaves used to brew the tea base. Service was fast and friendly! Parking reeeeally sucks around here though. Limited, crowded, and crawling w car break-in's and parking enforcement. I'm not going to lie, when samples are given to me I usually take them, sample it, then leave. I know the objective is to make me buy something but nine times out of 10 it doesn't work. On a sunny day in the mission, I was walking about when they were handing out samples of their Diamond mixed berry drink. I took a sip and ended up sold on the drink. The small chunks of berry and the fresh flavor of the tea really awakened my flavor palette and had me going into the store to order a full tea beverage. I'm also not sure if they listen to the customizations: I asked for 25% sweetness with no ice, but there was still ice in my very sweet drink. It was hard to taste the ube or taro that were masked by the sugar. Service was also slow when I came around 7:30pm, and I waited 10+ min for my drink even though there was only one other person ahead of me when I arrived. Will give props to this place for carrying milk alternatives and having a nice interior that was unfortunately closed off. There are a lot of tables and I saw some board games tucked away. Would consider going here again with a group of friends once indoor seating opens, but it wouldn't make it on my list for just grabbing a drink. read more

Being located near Mission Delores Park, you can grab a cup of Brew Cha on your way there, and lounge on the grass whilst taking in the view. The interior of the store is clean and simple, though their process for where to pick up your drink after ordering could be a bit more streamlined, as there tends to be an agglomeration of people standing at the register/near the doors while waiting for their order. I got the Brew Cha Fruit Tea at 75% sweetness, which was very sweet- I don't recommend pushing it to 100%. For the rare days where San Francisco hits over 70 degrees, you definitely need a refreshing drink like this. My friend got the Peach Oolong with Boba, and while the drink was notably more bitter than the fruit tea, the boba's plain flavor probably didn't add anything either. The drinks are a bit pricey for fruit/milk tea, but I do recommend trying this place out if you're in the area. The factor that sold me was their straws- in the case you don't order any toppings, they have a little heart stopper (similar to those for coffee) to cover the lid, so you don't waste any straws. Even then, they have a cool sugar cane straw that's 200% better than any paper or plastic straw alternative. I don't know if I was just imagining it, but I believe it made my drink taste better, if only marginally. read more

Just a short glimpse of the name of this place, I thought it was going to be a brewery/tea place, but was pleased to find out it's a new boba place. In the same way I feel like SF can never have too many ice cream places, a QUALITY boba place doesn't hurt and Brew Cha fulfills every boba craving. Stopped by on a casual Sunday to catch up with an old mate and we were very happy with what we ordered. The menu is pretty self explanatory. You can choose from a fresh fruit tea, speciality, fruit flavored slush, or premium milk tea and get it hot or cold in a small or large. Every drink comes with white or black boba, but you can customize it with your ice level, sweetness (cane sugar) of 100//75/50/25/0, type of milk - organic whole, lactose-free, almond, or no, milk, and additional 0.50 for other toppings like magic boba, litchi jelly, grass jelly, or extra boba. My mate got the Ube Taro Latte at 50 percent sweetness and it was the perfect amount of sweetness and taro for his liking. Taro can sometimes have a pungent and overly sweet flavor, but this was not at all. I would maybe suggest a 75 percent sweetness if you want it on the sweeter side. I ordered the Peach Oolong tea and the tea flavor is so good - maybe one of the best I have had. I think the Peach flavor could have been more present, but it was still good. 50 percent sweet was not that sweet, but it was the perfect level to really appreciate the tea! I am seeing a lot of reviews saying that the sweetness level of some of their teas is not that high. Not to sound like a tea snob, but some teas are stronger than others and would need a higher sweetness level if you want it on the sweeter side. For example, their peach oolong tea does not taste sweet at all at a 50% sweetness level compared to a regular boba place. So I highly suggest asking the staff what the ideal sweetness would be for the type of drink you are ordering. And if you don't like the sweetness level, then ask them to make it sweeter! Overall, Brew Cha is a quality boba place for studying, hanging out, casual dates, etc. The cups (more so the lids) are pretty multifunctional and have different straw holes for every type of straw. For the larger sizes, the straws are not big enough so it was hard to slurp any of the toppings/boba. I drank most of the drink and had a lot of balls left over in the end. Maybe finding a taller straw or a wider/less tall cup to accommodate for this problem? Other than this, I can't wait to go here again! One of the things you might notice is that drinks take a little bit longer than some other shops, and that's because they freshly brew every tea to order using an espresso machine. It's also a really aesthetic shop with a lot of white inside and more stylish cups. I'm a Thai tea fan, so that's one of the drinks I tried on this trip to Brew Cha. It's a really good Thai Tea with a strong tea flavor and a nice creaminess. It's also not overly sweet like some Thai teas can be. I also wanted to try a fruit tea, so I went with their signature Brew Cha Fruit Tea. It's a green tea with slices of strawberry, apple, lime, and orange. It's sweet and refreshing with a bit of tartness from the lime and orange. The citrus fruits were definitely the more dominant flavors, especially orange. The boba is a good consistency. Not the best I've had, but it's definitely good. They get bonus points for regular boba being included with their drinks for no added price. You do have to pay extra if you want another topping instead. Speaking of toppings, they have a lot of options: crystal boba, lychee popping boba, mango popping boba, aloe vera, pineapple jelly, mango jelly, lychee jelly, grass jelly, red bean, and egg pudding. For milk, their default is organic whole milk, but they also have organic lactose-free milk, almond milk, and oat milk. Overall, Brew Cha is a good boba spot to check out if you're in the Mission. See my go-to below: UBE TARO LATTE (light ice, 75% sweet, with boba): Boba is great, no complaints. This is a slightly elevated version of your average taro MT. I love that they use real chunks of taro! And it definitely tastes fresh, with none of that chemical aftertaste that powders and syrups lend. As for the vibrant purple, I do wonder if it's all-natural. Along with menu choices, Brew Cha has a pretty solid spread of customization options: alternative milks, toppings, the regular ice/sugar adjustments. Aside from it being a really cool-looking drink, it's very tasty too! The tarp flavor is apparent, but not too overpowering. It's creamy and not too sweet. This was my second time coming here and this time, introducing this place to a friend who hasn't been here. There are so many kinds of boba that you can choose and you can order through either the machine or in person at the counter. My friend got some citrus juice without any bubbles and I got a hot Thai tea. Since it was a hot day, the citrus juice tasted very refreshing and good and it was not too sweet, which was a really positive point for me. On the other hand, the hot Thai team was pretty sweet even though I chose the sugar 0 % and I was not able to finish the bubbles so that was disappointing. The service was really good and the server was really friendly, accommodating all requests that I had like getting a hot water, getting the right rid for the cup etc. I also liked the theme of the place starting from the logo that you can look from the outside which is a pretty iconic illustration of boba and inside furniture was also cozy with some couches, simple tables and some board games. A much bigger space with couches near the big windows at a bottom left corner; good to wind down and socialize. Customer service is excellent with super friendly and knowledgeable staff members, and I can only tell a male staff member is nice enough to provide me a rack to hold both cups. Their wooden menu has enough drink selections and you get to choose any toppings instead of free black pearls, milk base, amount of ice cubes, and sugar percentage levels. I would drop my choice of having Ube Taro Latte. Therefore, I buy two of the same tea flavors based on the theme of my café visit, Tale of Two Oolong Chas. First cup, Roasted Oolong: organic whole milk, regular sugar, few ice cubes, and free black boba. To almost every milk tea lovers, it's an all-time Asian favorite. You would probably go back to Brew Cha two or more visits for a same cup of Roasted Oolong, and that's still feel like it's never enough. Second cup, Peach Oolong: no milk added, no sugar, no ice, and lychee jelly. I get used to the bitterness of oolong with a small thin slice of apple and lychee jelly chunks as the only sweetness. And without ice, I freely and easily slurp all the lychee jelly chunks. Healthy as I like it, every cha I choose suits ME and will forever be my path to lasting abundance. Stumbled upon this place when looking for a boba place after dinner and was pleasantly surprised. They've only been open for a couple months! I ordered the ube taro latte with 50% sugar, less ice, and oat milk! The ube paste is smeared on the cup and with a little swishing, comes off slowly. The taro chunks were small and enjoyable, the boba was the perfect chewiness, and overall I enjoyed the drink. The drinks are cute with a cup that is outfitted so that you can use a small or big straw, plus a cap if you're sipping on some hot tea. You can adjust the sweetness and ice like most boba places, but I also liked that boba was included in the price and changing the type of milk didnt add an extra fee. Update: so the ube taro tea was enough for me to give this place 4 stars, but came back the next day and tried the blueberry black tea and the panda tea and was pretty disappointed. The blueberry tea was bitter and the crystal boba was like a soggy, less chewy version of traditional honey boba.
