Tried the Wakey Wakey and a cinnamon roll to start. The cinnamon roll was essentially my breakfast, and under those circumstances I highly recommend it. At first glance it may look a bit small and/or dry, but when you order it they ask if you prefer it warm, with frosting. This is the preparation I tried, and heartily recommend. When the cinnamon roll arrived, it was so seductively smothered in frosting that any dryness was gone, and after eating I felt as full as if I'd just had a small side order of flapjacks with butter and syrup. So. As I said, under the particular circumstances I ate the cinnamon roll, I recommend it. People who know me know that I love coffee. And that I don't heap praise on coffee that is unworthy of that praise. I wholeheartedly praise this place's coffee. The Wakey Wakey, which was my first coffee of the day, did its job remarkably well. I know coffee purists will wag their fingers at me for it, but I added cream & lots of sugar to mine, and I still felt like I experienced the additional frothiness and smokiness of the espresso beneath the delicious dark roast coffee. It stood up well to my mangling it of all its subtleties, I must say. Later in the day I refilled my mug, with plain dark roast coffee, and noticed the difference, and still enjoyed very much. I know I'm a madman, but I turned down the opportunity to try any of the delicious-looking cookies. In the interest of full disclosure, I feel I must mention that I have met and interacted with the owner and his wife (and they are lovely people), but I really feel like I can still objectively review this place as the gem it is. Excited about having a new coffee spot in the area and not having to drive so far to find a place to study. Not much of a coffee expert, but I liked the cold brewed coffee. I love the layout of the tables and can always find a place to plug in my gadgets and get to studying. Also, the atmosphere is nice because its not too loud and there is a lot of space that is somewhat compartmentalized so that you can either have a big group get together or find a smaller table and focus on your studies/work. Where the place could improve: Definitely need to focus on customer service. Reduce the number of employees on the clock at a time and make sure those that do work are engaging, personable, and knowledgable about your product and how stuff operates. Less disorganization and iron out the wrinkles. While I love that the place is pretty quite, it is also because there aren't many people there. Get the word out to the local college and high school students (Grossmont College is right down the street) on social media and on campus! I know its still soft opening but I am really hoping the hours get extended to later during the week and on the weekend. read more

Have been here twice now. The first visit was a bit mediocre, the coffee wasn't very good and the service slow (they were busy, but still) however my visit today was great! My coffee (latte) was delicious, really good, and the coconut yogurt parfait was absolutely delicious. Service today was wonderful, friendly and fast. The place was packed with people on their laptops but we still found a table and enjoyed sitting and having our coffee and breakfast. My friend got the lavendar latte and really liked it, was definitely too sweet for my liking, but if you like a sweeter drink, it seems like a good choice. Overall, today's visit was awesome and I will be back for sure. read more

Stopped here for coffee and some food. The place has a mellow hipster/industrial feel. I had he pesto panini and was very impressed. The coffee was on par with a higher end coffee shop. I love this coffee shop. Friendly staff. Great coffee that tastes natural and u can actually taste the quality. Completely different from Starbucks and all the syrups and sugars added to their coffees. I loved the brew coffee spot because having a coffee here didn't feel like I was drinking a million calories. Nice place for coffee! I am visiting from Tennessee and I own a local coffee shop. As with any business there are always things that everyone will not like. So far the pros outweigh the cons. When Brew started, I wasn't totally impressed. Nothing wrong with it in particular, just wasn't a big fan. Well, I am so glad I went back. The coffee here is outstanding. I do believe they told me that their blended drinks are made with their nitro brew. The drinks are so smooth and tasty. I do agree, it is loud. Also about the waiting. It does usually take quite awhile for a drink, but now I go in with that knowledge, so I don't mind waiting. While they do not acknowledge people when they arrive, the staff is very friendly. I have also seen the owners go around to check on customers to make sure everything is good. I think that is a very good thing for a business to do. While there is waiting, the coffee is SO good, it's worth it. It tastes so much better than S*bucks, of which I was a big fan for a long time. I love being able to support a local business that I can really enjoy! Oh, also, they use eco-friendly products! read more

I came to check out Brew a few days ago in need of a good cup of coffee, and I was not let down! This coffee shop has a great young vibe with tons of options. I used to work in coffee shops and can say I'm a bit of a coffee snob so I wasn't expecting much when I ordered my Iced Caramel Latte, but I was pleasantly surprised once I got it. Now I stop in almost every morning to get something before school! This place is amazing. Impeccable service and literally the best brewed coffee I have ever had. I am a a major coffee snob and the coffee here is exceptional. They use a laborious roasting method to roast their coffee beans, which produces a rich and intense cup of coffee. Love the serene contemporary decor. Found this AMAZING place on our first day in San Diego! We went almost every morning while on our vacation. Excellent fresh brewed coffee, delicious avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I have visited this coffee shop several times, and it doesn't disappoint! I think the wait time can be a little long compared to other chain coffee places, but it's well worth it. One of the best hot Mocha Latte's I have ever had. I ordered mine with dark chocolate and soy. It was rich and delicious. Served in a large mug. I enjoyed my drink on the patio while chatting with a friend in the beautiful San Diego morning sun. I will definitely return. Take your friends. It's a quiet spot, they have a comfy couch. My first time here today. I ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee. The Barista warned me it was sweet and it was. Too sweet. Nice place but waited a long time for the coffee to arrive. I wanted to have it in store but there was no free tables. $5.15 is quite steep for a coffee considering it's only 4 shots of expresso, condensed milk and a whole lot of ice. Way overpriced. So glad I have a great place so close to my house where I can bring my laptop and do work. La Mesa has been needing a place like this and it's a perfect location. The only complaint I have is that there is a glare during certain times of the day because there are no blinds or window coverings. Everything else is great!
