I happened upon this place while on a recent business trip to Chester. I met up with a former co-worker who suggested this place. I wasn't expecting a lot and I must say, they met expectations. The menu is mostly burgers but they did have a few seafood options. I went with a half dozen grilled oysters and the salmon cake sandwich. It was OK. I really wanted the fish tacos but no flour tortilla, only corn, such a shame. I was there for the food and not beer so I can't make any comments on that. read more

I like the small pub feel if this spot. The service was prompt and the server made me feel like a regular patron. This is a good restaurant for a small group of friends to gather and enjoy some beer and burgers. I had a BYO burger and it was ok. The burger was over cooked and tasted burnt. Definitely a good addition to the Chester area! I went for opening night (July 30) and was not disappointed. They definitely still have a few issues to work out but for as many things that went wrong last night, they did a good job. Their menu (see the pics I posted) is wonderful! The sandwiches are named after wines and the burgers after beers - I think this is a super fun idea! The food smelled and tasted wonderful! I had a few samples from what my friends ordered and I will absolutely be going back. I tasted the Pilsner, the Pino Grigio, and the Merlot. All three had wonderful flavor and the meat was cooked very well. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - exactly how I like them. The beer list is great! Not only do they list the beers but they have a description of each beer below the name. I think this is quite helpful since all the beer sold there are craft beers. I know it definitely helped me decide which beer I wanted. I ended up getting a beer I've had before, the Allagash, but I will definitely be back to try more. The place last night was very crowded - as it should be on opening night. Although the kitchen and service was a bit slow, the server we had was in good spirits and looking around, I wasn't seeing anyone complaining. I truly think after a week or so of working out the kinks, Brew is definitely going to be the new hot spot in Chester. I hope everyone who went last night goes back again and again! Burgers are awesome. The brews are a plenty. Staff is SUPER friendly. We came for a birthday dinner the other night and had an enjoyable time. While it did not live up to my best expectations, it was alright. We ordered the special app of pretzels and beer cheese. The pretzels seemed microwaved and there really wasn't enough cheese for the table. But the cheese did have a decent interesting flavor. Our burgers came out after a good minute of waiting, but I'll give it to them. It was seasoned well. I had the Farmer with egg and bacon. It was TASTY. The fries were fresh cut and good too. I'll say I'm not a fan of their ketchup which was more like marinara. My friend had zucchini fries and said she enjoyed them. As for her drink, she wasn't the biggest fan. They do have limited drink options for those of us not big on beer. I did have a cider that was pretty good, although didn't seem cold enough. My friend had a mixed beverage, but it was a bit heavy of the pineapple. It made up for that with its potency hahaha My friend's husband is a beer person and was super excited for the options. First beer he had he loved. The second, not so much. We'd recommend asking for samples before committing since the flavors vary (in a good way). Yes, I am a fan!! I don't Love beer, but no fear, they have a full BAR!! Red Sangria or white is my go to drink! The calamari is a must for us. The homemade french fries are bland, but you can choose another side easily! All of the Burgers are fresh and I have never been disappointed in a choice...(still working my way through the menu) My friends and I love the patio seating, they do allow smoking so stay inside if you mind. The fresh talent on stage is always entertaining. I'm keeping a star because the service and consistiency of order to service times is totally hit or miss. TOTALLY. This was my fiancé's and I first time going to Brew. We had seen it a few times driving by and was curious about the establishment. We went on a Thursday and the special was dollar oysters; which they were out of. I got the BLT burger and my fiancé got the Country Burger. Overall, my burger was okay. LISTEN don't wait another day. Go treat yourself to this amazing food. When I say this is the best burger I ever had in all my life. It really and truly is. The owner was super friendly and attentive when we walked in. The menu has a variety of items without being overwhelming. We decided on the dragon wrap and the "Frenchie Burger" which should be named The Messiah, because this burger is just heavenly and divine. It was juicy and flavorful and honestly it tasted just like steak. The fries were fresh and hot. But again the burger stole the show. Tommy the chef came out to speak with us and was just really nice and gracious. This is my new go to spot. I can't wait to go back and enjoy again. Me and a bunch of other people waited at the end of the bar to get drinks and when we asked if this was the right place he told us no and we had to go to the other end of the bar. We proceed to the other end of the bar and 30 minutes later I ask if we are going to get our order taken and he tells me no to go back to where we were initially standing. The service was AWFUL. Wow! This place is fantastic! It's cute and cozy. Our bartender Sunny was so sweet and attentive. The food was so fresh and delicious. Don't sleep on the squash fries , oh the aioli!, and they are perfectly prepared. The crab roll and portobello panini were excellent, pasta salad and slaw sides were delicious. 10/10 I'm excited to have found this gem and found a place to be a regular. So sorry to have to write this review. Ordered take out two nights ago (have ordered many times and it has been great) and the burgers were terrible. Ordered rare and med (3 burgers) and they all came out hard as a rock and burned at the bottom and missing sauce. Called to complain and was told the manger would reach out the next day. Brew is a good scene, excellent selection of beer and eats. And it is good for the most part, my only hang up has been that it is fairly overpriced IMHBAO. For similar eats and the same beer across town, instead of $20 at Brew, it would be $13 somewhere else. Worth checking out for sure, just never get the need for high prices. Cheers read more

Ventured in on a rainy Saturday while on this side of town between jobs. We were greeted by an enthusiastic server & bearded staff behind the bar & kitchen (looking very much like the guys you'd expect to see on a Micro-brew TV commercial.) Had guac & chips as well as the Triple burger with fresh-cut fries. The guac was quite good although the dish could be easily elevated from good to great by using a saltier chip that is placed under the heat lamps for a minute with a fresh twist of lime before serving The Burger was cooked perfectly. Perhaps one of th only places you might venture in RVA area where the burger actually comes out at the temp you ordered it (so be ware if you order cooler than you might actually want... it may be moo'ing it may be moo'ing when it arrives). Small Gastropub in a nice little strip mall. There was a nice selection of craft brews on draft, and the vibe of the place was laid back and modern. The menu, while not extensive, was good. I had the Bacon/Blue Cheese burger with onion jam. The cook prepared it perfectly and it was quite tasty. My friends each got other items, including the Mac and cheese topped burger and a cubano. Everyone enjoyed their food. The bartender was young and friendly, and had good beer suggestions. While there were not a lot of seats, the bar was nice and there were not a ton of people there, so it was a nice laid back environment that was no where near as loud as some other busier bars/breweries. (I did go earlier in the evening, around 5PM as opposed to later at night). I will certainly be back here in the future to try more of the beers and some of the other menu items. I'd recommend this place for a smaller group looking for a quieter laid back place to enjoy good beer and solid bar food. read more

Calimari was a little chewy, the jerk chicken wasn't all that, but the eggplant sandwich was surprisingly good, fries were good too. Everything is homemade, we ordered the fish tacos and blue burger. tacos normally come with a sauce and slaw, not this one. Their taco comes with a salad filling and a dressing. Not only appealing to the eye, but flavors were spot on! If I could recommend one improvement, add a little more sauce. The blue burger looks basic, meat, onions, cheese, and bacon. Not so much appealing, but the peach chutney mixed with the blue cheese and caramelized onions really works! This place also has a million beers! There are certain things you expect from a cubano Sandwich. Soggy untoasted white wonder bread, brown mustard, and more slaw than meat are not on that list. The thin white bread crumble beneath the weight of the slaw and the 3 pieces of pork belly were dry and overcooked to the point it was like chewing gum. The highlight of my meal was the side salad. My boyfriends meal wasn't much better with soggy fries served with the housemade Ketchup that tasted like marinara sauce and a stone cold cheese burger that we paid extra for bacon, but they forgot the bacon. Every time my boyfriend and I eat here, the place is empty and we're the only guests, yet our service is mediocre at best. We ate here tonight and were the only guests in the restaurant: the beer my boyfriend was served was expired, our server was inattentive--nor did he know much of anything about the questions I asked about the food, some of our food was cold and most of our orders were incorrect.
