The avocado toast was delicious. A little to "hipster" for my taste with the pickled radishes and the wasabi but the bread they use is amazing. They also added a generous amount of avocado for the price. The side salad was amazing. I'm not sure what type of dressing they used but it was paired very well. I of course paired this with an iced latte. If you're in the area, order the Vanilla Cream syrup it is the best one on the menu. Please note this does use real cream so contains dia They have a nice variety of milk types ranging from whole to coconut. I always get almond milk and it works well with the latte. read more

The only saving grace this place had was the coffee was delicious, but you couldn't pay me to eat here. I went to this place with a few friends. After we ordered, we were told half the (different) dishes we had just paid for they were out of. That is normally ok, I understand sometimes this happens. However.... I was served something that frankly shouldn't have ever left the kitchen. Not only that, but my friends' dishes came out incomplete. They had to ask for the remaining ingredients that were missing from their food. I ordered the greens bowl, and... jesus. The Kale was raw and just luke-warm, the egg was also so raw and runny you could see through it. The avocado on the plate was so brown it looked like an old potato. Cute little place in a funky area of Jacksonville. I ordered two tacos, the black bean and the chorizo and sweet potato, a pimento cheese kolache, and a sweet caramel latte. Everything was amazing. Definitely try a kolache. It's a pastry/bagel type thing filled with all kinds of goodness. I did not expect it to be like cutting into a cloud. They are super soft and fluffy and delicious. The tacos are really good too. I loved the chorizo and sweet potato. If you don't like spice I do suggest you ask for the sauces on the side. Mine was fine but one of my friends was really spicy. They have some savory and sweet pastries for purchase in the front. They only have about 4-5 beers on draft at a time and a few cocktails/beer mixes. We ordered a brew-mosa (lager with orange juice) $6 and rude awakening (ipa with cold brew) $7. They were both fairly good, but nothing special and a little pricey. We have gone here for coffee in the past and their lattes are fairly nice served in large ceramic cups, but nothing special. I haven't eaten here yet but look forward to visiting again and trying more drinks and food. 4 stars instead of 5 because trying to pay the bill isn't always simple. We were seated and served at the bar, yet we had to go to the end of a line and wait for everyone to order and pay before we paid. I got a cup of cold brew and the afterglow toast. The toast was sooo good. A bit hard to eat, but all the flavors went together so well and the honey on top was delicious! They also have quite the selection of what I like to call "off the wall" sodas. My favourite is the Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer (non-alcoholic). I actually dream about that stuff... for real! You order in the front area and then sit in the back. I had a regular cappuccino (delish) and my daughter had the seasonal ginger spice cappuccino. She really liked it. I tasted it and yes, it tasted very much like a ginger snap cookie. For our treat, we split a fresh blueberry & peach kolache. Really lovely treat, not too sweet (just right) and went well with the coffee. (Extra points for having Truvia [stevia] packets for one of the sugar offerings.) The prices are just right and I was impressed by the amount of unusual beers behind the counter. The people working there were very friendly and welcoming. Honestly, it's the strongest cold brew I've ever had. One time I even opted for cream and sugar because the flavor was too powerful. It's good, just very strong. Today's drip was mellow and had a hint of fruit to it. An excellent way to start the day. The breakfast tacos were perfectly executed and presented well. Over easy eggs, creamy avocado, crisp bacon, pickled red onions and a delicious sauce which looked like hot sauce, but only had a slight bite to it. Order your cuppa and hit the road to work if you're not in a hurry. Otherwise, stay for a bit and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and witty conversation, either from a fellow customer or the staff. However, once the evening rolls around, the bar is your oyster. There's a fantastic selection of craft sodas, canned beer, and some yummy beer cocktails to choose from. Make sure to get some toast to go with your drink, too, in the morning or evening. Community Loaves and Dig Foods partnered with BREW for the unique toast and jam/spread mix. If you like a little kick in your jam, try the kimchi based one. They are all tasty, though, so make sure to try them all. It's a must have. Brew was an unplanned stop when I was nearby with my kids on the Friday after Christmas and wanted some coffee. We walked in and immediately considered walking back out since it was very quiet and seemed full of people working. I felt a lot of eyes on us. However, there were a few outside cafe tables, so we went ahead and ordered and sat out there. However, the table was super wobbly, and uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful which was the nicest part. I ordered a drip coffee and a steamed milk with a house made chocolate syrup. Both were very good. The salted chocolate chip cookie was delicious if a bit firm for me. We also ordered two breakfast tacos, which were good except one was unexpectedly covered in hot sauce. It was the one my 9 year old was to eat and couldn't. There are plenty of good shops with a more welcoming vibe and more comfortable seating so I'd likely pick those first each time. read more

Since I work mostly from home, having a solid coffee shop to grab some food and a good cup of coffee is a big step towards staying sane. Living in Riverside means that 5 Points is a short drive away- ideal! Brew is located on the main drag of the neighborhood, and is decorated in a modern rustic aesthetic. As the name suggests, they serve brewed items as their main focal point. This is fantastic, because it means that you can grab a cup of GOOD coffee and five minutes later grab a beer- no judgement here! My last trip in I had two cappuccinos (strawberry milk and a lavender one) and ordered their Basic Bitch open faced sandwich. The lattes were divine! My favorite was the lavender, which was perfectly sweetened (mild) and not overpowering. The strawberry milk latte was also tasty, but there wasn't quite as much of strawberry taste as I expected. The sandwich was ok. It is a large slice of bread with a miso spread, avocado mash, sliced radishes, with a sesame chili oil drizzle. I love the idea of these flavor combinations, but the execution needed a bit more work. The bread was barely toasted, which meant that you missed out on the textural contrast and the extra added caramelized flavor. There was too much sesame oil and not enough salt, so you couldn't taste much past the sesame chili oil. I've had the Basic Bitch in the past (at a meet and greet hosted at 5 Points), and it was incredible. Perhaps this day was an off day, but it was a bit of a letdown. read more

Giving this a 4 only because the selection is extremely limited. My wife and I had lunch at Hoptinger Bier Garden and stopped by Brew due to our sweet tooths driving us nuts. Entering the store, were were greated by the scent only bakeries offer. That fragerence just kink of drags you inside. Inside, the small case had just a few selections. All looked great. We got 2 chocolate cookies to go. Unfortunately, no pictures because they were eaten as we were walking back to our car. The cookies are hubcap huge. We could taste the butter in them. Just cool....lol....this is a sleek, modern, cool coffee shop. Went in to try a lavender cold coffee, sounds so interesting! It was a iced coffee with quite a lot of cream with the slightest hint of lavender flavor, very good I enjoyed it especially on a hot day. We also got a regular iced coffee, that was WOW strong! I love a really dark coffee and this was super strong tasting, we had to add a lot of cream to tone that down. And tried a Spindrift Raspberry soda, yummm, very tasty natural soda with real fruit in it! I've been here many times as I love the coffee. Just recently tried the Kolaches, and I LOVE them! I tried 3 today - everything w/ cream cheese, Asiago cheese, and chorizo w/ cheese. All were so good! My favorite drink here is the cold brew with lavender. I've never had lavender in coffee prior to dining at Brew. I also love the atmosphere here. I have been meaning to visit this place for a while. It is one of those tragically hip places that have popped up in five points. The guy at the counter was very nice. The cup of tea that he served me, while it took him about 10 minutes, it was very good. My food actually came up before my cup of tea LOL. I ordered a breakfast taco without the tortilla. That amounts to approximately 3-4 ounces of food. That 3 ounces was excellent. there was half a strip of bacon and a slice of avocado on each egg. They had a drizzle of some sauce that was really quite tasty. The interior decorations are aesthetically pleasing. It's simple and I love the communal tables. I sat at the bar which is a concrete top and it was good. This would be a cool place to come and hang out, it's cool that they sell both tea and coffee and also beer. They also have a pretty good selection of upscale sodas. I will definitely come back, probably not for the food but definitely for the atmosphere. read more

All baked goods are microwaved, not toasted to reheat. Service at the register is uninformed and unfriendly. Brew. What a simple word that truly underestimates the creative genius that is percolating in this cafe/restaurant/bar. Every detail on this menu is worthy of applause not only because it includes several well-thought out plant based food option but also because they offer some bold creative coffees and local beers. What I love about Brew's food menu is that they put as much thought into creating plant based (vegetarian and vegan) options as it did the animal meat based options. This makes Brew a fantastic meetup place for groups because you can satisfy practically every foodie type. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the breakfast tacos. He ordered the meat ones, I ordered the 3 plant based ones: the Hippy, Roasted Veg, and Black Bean. They were all so good! I would have been content with my awesome tacos, but I was intrigued by the coffee menu which included a lavender latte which was offered with non-dairy milk (can't remember if it was soy/oat/almond) . omg. it was curiously delicious! I would absolutely recommend coming here. While I usually don't repeat when I visit a city, returning to Brew will be an absolute must. Came here after work for a quick study. The ambiance is great, music isn't too loud- wish I could have liked this place. However, I wasn't greeted or acknowledged when I arrived, and stood awkwardly behind the cashier (chatting with people who were clearly her friends) for a good four minutes or so before she said a word to. Then it took them (two people on a relatively slow day) about 15 mins to get me my drink. The scone I ordered (pistachio cheese something) was dry and bland and I could taste no lavender in my lavender charcoal latte. However when I told the same waitress she added more, so I added a point for that... Altogether I'm super disappointed!
