I cannot recommend Brian B. Quick Plumbing highly enough! I was dealing with a nightmare main drain blockage deep in the pipe that was holding water. A previous plumber wasted hours and failed completely, and another big franchise tried to price-gouge me with a vague, ridiculous estimate. From the start, this company provided a very fair and transparent upfront flat-rate price. The technician arrived exactly on time and assessed the situation professionally. The job turned out to be incredibly brutal, requiring a massive 150-foot heavy-duty snake and an extra helper. The team was completely transparent about the extra resources needed and provided a very reasonable adjusted rate for the additional manpower and equipment before proceeding. What blew me away was their incredible work ethic. Because the blockage was so stubborn, the job went significantly overtime. Yet, they completely honored our upfront agreement and didn't charge a single penny extra for the overtime hours. Sorry, but they're THIEVES. We have a run-of-the-mill tank toilet where a piston is fixed into the base and the flush valve moves a cylindrical sleeve up and down. The plastic piston snapped off the plastic piece that keeps it solidly attached. They wanted SIX HUNDRED BUCKS to fix it when I can buy a new toilet for $250 and have it installed for $100. Or I could just buy the kit for $30. But here's what REALLY galled me: in the past--EVERY TIME I hired a plumber--he did the work; I paid him; and he left. This time, I felt like a cold business transaction: he wasn't interested in wasting time on the work, only on finding a richer, stupider client to fleece for $800. Ironically, had he quoted $195--an outrageous $50 for the part and an outrageous $145 for his time--I wouldn't have complained. Jacqueline K. Featherfuck! This is SOMETHING NEW: they don't behave like PLUMBERS, but like PLUMBING MAGNATES. I understand that tradesmen are in business to make money. So I am very torn giving this review because the plumbing technician was nice and worked really hard to get the job done for us and while we sincerely appreciate that, it unfortunately doesn't negate the other issues that occurred. In the midst of doing the work they never covered the floors and in the process of moving the toilet they completely scratched up my hardwood floors which are now ruined. Not only that the toilet downstairs was never caulked, the toilet upstairs wasn't installed bc we had to do drywall first. My husband said that was fine, he would install it but they didn't leave the bolts for us to put the toilet back on. When we reached out to the technician he blamed it on his helper and kept it moving. The got the adhesive for the piping on my walls and trim which doesn't come out and now needs to be repainted. To me, it just lacks of care and seemed to be a complete rush job that now leaves me with more work of trying to replace my floors and paint my trim and install and caulk a toilet that I paid the company over 2K to do.... read more

I do not recommend this company. They extremely overcharged for basic work. I called them to fix my tub valve. The plumber suggested I also replace my old main water turn off valve. They have flat rate pricing that is outrageous. Because I don't know standard plumbing rates, I thought the flat rate total quote for both jobs of $4201 meant they were highly complex and difficult jobs. The jobs turned out to be standard swap outs and took one plumber only two hours in total time to complete. The parts were only a few hundred dollars, so that is an astronomical labor rate. I only realized how outrageous this pricing was after seeing how simple the job actually was. They do not have good customer service. I had to call them twice to get them to send me the invoice. They refused to provide an itemized breakdown. The invoice paperwork arrived with the customer satisfaction and completion sections already initialed as completed, before I ever reviewed or signed myself. My attempts to resolve this pricing have been ignored. Management replied once stating they would get back to me Mon, but I did not receive any further communication despite emailing several more times. I am requesting a fair partial refund. We had a stopped-up kitchen sink. I called on Thursday morning and they were able to send someone out later that day. Our technician Caleb was really informative and was able to clear the clog. He also made suggestions for improvements at a few locations around the house. He was prompt, thorough and also very nice. I called Brian B Quick when my sink became clogged, and the garbage disposal wasn't working properly. I also noticed I had a small leak under the sink. I had not had plumbing issues since I moved in 6 years before and did not have a regular plumber, so I looked some up and chose Brian. B. Quick. The company sent a master plumber named Dan Stewart to my house. He seemed very nice and sounded pretty assured that he could snake the drain and replace the garbage disposal. His estimate to begin work was $ 1,800 to resolve my issue. While I thought that was really high, I am a federal employee and not rich; he explained that this was on par for a day's work, and it would be done right. By the end of the day, he explained that it was an issue of old pipes and he needed to move where my sink was draining into, so that he could go into the laundry/trash room on the other side of the wall and get the pipe drainage block issue resolved, and fix my plumbing problem. The only issue was that it would cost between $4,000 and $ 4,700 to get the work done. Given that I already owed $ 1,800, I agreed because I needed the issue resolved. He installed new pipes to a different drainage pipe he found in the laundry room wall, which was on the back side of where my 2-year-old Whirlpool dishwasher was located, replaced the pipes under my sink, and installed the new garbage disposal. At the end of the day, I paid him $4500, and he left. A couple of weeks later, I began to notice that there was standing water when I ran the dishwaher (the laundry room was also being used) in the laundry/trash room where the plumber had opened the wall to move my drainage pipe, at first I thought there was a leak in the clothes washing machine there because I checked and could find no water under my sink or in the kitchen. I thought it must be the laundry machine, and I reported it to the HOA. They sent a plumber out, and he said they had found a small clog in the laundry/trash room. But when I ran the dishwasher, there was water standing in the laundry/trash room again. At this point, I called Dan, who told me to call Brian B. Quick Company and ask them to come check it out, thinking there might be a leak in the wall. Dan returned while my handyman was putting up blinds for me and checked the laundry/room and found nothing. I asked Dan to check the washing machine just to be sure, and Dan looked under the dishwasher, stating that the dishwasher was indeed leaking from the center underneath." I didn't question it until after Dan left, when my handyman said we should pull the machine out to see if it was something he could repair. My handyman and I ran the dishwasher after we pulled it out from under the counter so we could watch where the water was coming from, as Dan should have done. Water wasn't coming from underneath; it was coming out of the back of the washer, which is why the water went straight into the back wall and into the laundry/trash room instead of into my kitchen floor. Apparently, from what I can figure out, when Dan was cutting the pipe in the laundry/trash room, his saw went all the way through the wall into my 2-year-old Whirlpool. I called Dan, explained what we had found, and sent him pictures to give him a chance to explain, and he said that it was a "leak that came from underneath the machine," and nothing else, but it seems clear to me now that Dan must have known this was what happened when he was repairing my pipes. He never responded to my text after that. I also understood that I would get no help from Dan or his company regarding the damage caused to my home, accidental or not, not to mention the outrageous $4500 bill I had to pay for that service. He explained what happened and how to fix it. He left to get parts and returned. He replaced the water heater the same day. My family was without water for only 3 hours. I just had a technician by the name of Patrick Mullineaux come out to give me an estimate on a leaky faucet that someone had tried to replace the cartridge but was unsuccessful. First off, he came into my house being a pompous asshole. I took him upstairs to my bathroom. He looked at it and said oh, my company does not do cartridges. Okay. He then asked me if there was a way for him to gain access behind the tiles/pipes. I told him no because in order for him to gain access, he would have to go inside my small linen closet, which he would not be able to fit in. He then stepped inside my tub and told me that inside the cartridge holder has corrosion and he would have to replace the whole thing. I asked him how much would that be he said $1700. $1700? Are you kidding me?! I told him that's ok and let's go. He then started to argue with me, raising his voice in my home. I told him let's go again. He started yelling what, you want me to do the job for $75? No, I don't want you to do anything but to leave. Even when he exited my home he was still yelling, and drawing the attention from my neighbors. This company is a rip off! I will never recommend them or use them ever! read more

We have used Brian B Quick for two projects now. Both times, they were responsive and came out within 24 hours. They quickly diagnosed the problem and provided a solution. The first time, we had them fix the problem (which was a leaking TPR valve on our water heater) and the second time, we decided to do the fix (which was replacing bathtub caulk and snaking a drain) so they just charged us a diagnostic fee. They might be slightly more expensive than other companies but it's worth it in my opinion for the customer service. read more

Needed a plumbing back up to be resolved. Company came out, investigated the issue and proposed a resolution. We agreed to the solution and they started work. During the work they found an old snake line in the main sewer line and removed what they could. The seems good and no issues with the original estimate. A follow up inspection was a part of the previous work and they came early. They talked with the tenant but didn't contact the owner. What occurred next was two estimates for anywhere from $6k-$12k. No video was provided of the inspection and was only provided bad photos claiming their work estimate was the only option. I requested a copy of the video and asked for a phone call with the person (the owner) who performed the inspection. After a week went by, and several requests for a phone, all I'm told is he's "too busy" to follow up. Then I received more estimates for work. When I inquired with the original technician who performed the work there was no recognition a phone was needed and went on to inform me they have to do the work to provide more information. Mind you, this is all over text and a phone call just cant seem to happen. All in all, the initial work looks good, but the information received and the limited communication is really terrible. The Nightmare 1 Plumber was not at all knowledgeable 2 Then he kept displaying lack of knowledge about his equipment 3 Then he kept talking to himself and displaying anger because his equipment would not work 4 I called them immediately about this behavior since they came in the door requesting $800 for a kitchen clog which I paid cash Then i had to warn him about yanking on the plumbing in my home because he could not get his snake to retrieve electronically 5 Then he tried to tell me he needed to knock out the walls on a new home and replace the main line 6 Then they sent another guy with a working snake to help the first guy and they said that every time they cleared the grease it would collapse and plug the kitchen sink again 7 Original plumber who was so concerned about my hard wood floors was now constantly snatching an extended metal snake cable across my floors from the kitchen to the front door They left saying tearing my walls out was the only solution 8 I got over the fear of damaging my pipes and slowly added hot water boiled from the stove and it cleared my pipes in ten minutes 9 It has been months with no problems and i have filed a complaint with the BBB 10 When John was there he performed service excellently and was knowledgeable but he quit is what I was told by their administrative secretary 11 The first guy kept leaving the house to talk on the phone for extended periods of time as I watched him from my upstairs window and when he would return he would say he was talking with Brian to see what he could do next 12 When I called them about this they referred me to another office as though these people were contractors to Brian B Quick. 13 The manager told me that the plumbers said what i did would not be a fix for the problem 14 so I was out $800 and it appears I fixed the problem myself 15 When I told the first plumber I had tried a couple caps full of Draino days before but it did not work. He then informed me he would now add an upcharge because it was dangerous for him to work on the drain as he might get burned with acid. The first plumber called me into the kitchen to show me a water spot under the garbage disposal and told me it had probably gone bad and they could sell me one to replace it. I watched under my kitchen sink for about a week after I fixed the original problem and my disposal has never leaked. 16 I would not recommend this service provider to anyone read more

Do not use this company. I called them for a gurgling sound in my shower drain when flushing my toilet. I was pleased with the communication and the speed of the visit to my home. But after that things went south. They did unnecessary work to upcharge me and DID NOT resolve my issue. The Tech and I both knew it was a venting issue on the roof that they do not do. So he convinced me to have my drain snaked knowing there was not a blockage or slow drain in my home. I was charged almost $1000 and NOTHING was fixed. It was the opposite. The Tech damaged my home with water and broke a part on my toilet. They did refund the diagnosis fee of $205.00. But would not reimburse me for the damage to my home or work with me on a partial refund for lack of resolving the original issue. I believe they did work they knew would not fix the issue to get more money out of me. I am still left with this problem and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. They had the audacity to offer me $50 for the water damage to my home and broken part on my toilet. They left a mess behind of dirt and debris in my bathroom. And they blatantly lied on my invoice (after I complained to them) saying the issue was resolved when they left my home. I tried to work with them for a partial refund on the "work" they did but they insulted me by offering $50.00 on a $785.00 balance. My husband had to repaint the kitchen ceiling below the bathroom due to water damage and I had to replace the part on my toilet and clean up their mess. What an absolute disappointment and cash grab. Do not use them if you do not want to be taken advantage of. I also do not think the person they sent to my home was a licensed plumber. But I cannot be sure. Brian B Quick was quick on the initial response and has been AWOL on the follow-through. The company helped replace an old water heater within a day that was leaking in my basement. Awesome/responsive/friendly. The problem arose when I was told I needed a specific chimney liner to comply with DC code that changed as of 2015. BBQ farms out this task to an incredibly flaky person who eventually came to my house after me having to call the company 3 times. When he arrived and did his own look around, he determined the $5000 I spent on the first visit (roughly 2500 for the tank replacement and 2500 - an inexplicable advance payment - for the lining service) was inadequate. The job has ballooned an additional 3k. OK, but that's not what I was originally quoted when I was making my decision on who to hire to complete the full job. I have asked BBQ refund the 2500 so I can go initiate an annoying (but at least competitive!) process of getting the lining done. They have gone completely silent. I'm considering initiating a suit in small claims court to have my ~2500 returned. read more

Initially, I was happy with what the service person had discussed with me regarding several jobs I needed done. Although, a bit pricey, I decided to go with the service the guy was nice and seemed very professional. However, when he was installing the second toilet in my home the technician started saying he was going to charge another $700 for the installation bcs the ring under toilet needed to be connected and grounded. After I complained that I did not have the ability to pay more for the install and I would cancel the other work we discussed he all of a sudden found a solution that would not cost me more. As I waited I reviewed the other suggestions he had made against my home inspection report and realized he may have oversold me on the additional work. Now I feel like I am being hustled. So I got back to review the estimate and it is not itemized so I really did not know what the cost was for each job. After I canceled the additional work, he says to me that they will only refund $600 of my deposit making the installation and 2 toilets cost $2600. I feel Overpriced, oversold and hustled. I called to confirm if there isn't a consultation fee. I'm aware that most businesses charge a minimum fee for someone to come to your residence (as they should). So, I called bcuz I did not know the fee. The lady I spoke with gave me a massive attitude when I tried to clarify her usage of the word "estimate" when I asked about "consultation fee". She repeatedly said "as I said" and "as I explained" there isn't a fee. It's free. She calls me back a few minutes later and says "there's a $49 fee for someone to come". Then, I request a very rough estimate of the cost of fixing a shower faucet handle and stem/cartridge. She says that they will not / cannot provide an estimate over the phone. I call this bullshit and predatory. You've been in the business for 7 yrs as per your Yelp page and you cannot even give a rough estimate or an average cost? I explicitly said "I will NOT hold you to that price" but I need to have an idea of the cost before I give you $49. Your time and expertise is valuable but so is my $49. I had a recent experience where an obstruction occurred out of the blue - one second it was working and the next, no pressure. There was no clear reason. I called Brian and used them bc, well, they were quick, but I would caution you to do the same. Herein lies my story, a cautionary tale: Brian sent out a great tech - he was personable and a salesman through and through, which, no hate, I am, too. I enjoyed it...mostly (part feigning interest to get him to the end of his speech and put away his laminated card). I honestly really liked the tech. No hate. The tech brought in his equipment and went to work, but was unable to find the source of the problem. He just kept doing the same thing (auger) over and over, and became increasingly concerned. He started spouting out theories - main drain line clog (whole condo building dealing with septic buildup in their drains, broken toilet, weird drain hookup). He settled on broken toilet (after removing the toilet. $419 for the call and an additional...$600 + labor for a new toilet?) Yikes. And then he left and told me to call back after the weekend to try and book the install...the toilet draining slower than it had before he got there. So here i am, up sh*t's creek without a paddle (no pun intended) and my friend recommended I call Jiffy Plumbing Heating & Cooling and I am so glad that I did. Jiffy senT Vinh, with 20+ years of experience. Vinh spent 20min on my toilet TOPS and it was fixed. He used his vacuum to suction out the debris (sponge...I swear to God) and that was that. He also told me that had he not been able to fix it, he wouldn't have charged me anything - they don't do service charges!!! They just charge to fix it. Wow. Brian B. Quick just replaced my rooftop AC unit two weeks sooner, and for almost $3,000 less, than any other company I spoke with said was possible. Throughout the process, all of the guys I dealt with were extremely professional, super responsive and delivered on all of their promises. In short, I'll never call another HVAC as long as these guys are in business. If you want all of the details, read further. I had a rooftop AC package unit that broke down in the middle of July. The first HVAC company I contacted, one that I used to service my AC unit before, said they were too busy to even come take a look. The second company I called came out and told me my AC unit needed to be replaced, however, they said there was a shortage on rooftop units and it would be 6-8 weeks before he could get one. The third company I contacted didn't even want to come out, and instead asked that I go up on the roof and take pictures of the equipment. After showing them the pics, I was told they had a replacement unit (which would cost $10K+), but it would be at least 3 weeks before they could come install it. Further, they wouldn't schedule the service (or even come inspect my current unit) until I sent a deposit. Hot and frustrated, I contacted Brian B Quick via the Yelp app. Brian responded within 20 min. and arranged for Santiago and Jose to come out the next day. They showed up on time and confirmed the motor was fried and probably beyond repair. They said would try to fix it and wouldn't charge anything if they couldn't get it working. After an hour, they actually got it running! However, they didn't expect the fix to last very long and insisted on not charging me. Turns out they were right - the AC only ran for another 12 hours before crapping out again. I called back and spoke with Randy the next day. He there was in fact a shortage on AC units, but that he found one in NV from a high quality manufacturer that matched my existing duct work and he could have delivered in 3 days. I assumed that meant it would be expensive, but his quote was nearly $3,000 cheaper than the other company! Randy said if I wanted it, he would order the unit and didn't insist on advance payment for doing so. I was a bit skeptical that he could actually get something so fast when other companies swore would be 3 weeks, at best. But sure enough, three days later, the unit arrived and was ready for install. The next morning, 6 guys in total showed up, with a crane to lift the equipment from the street to the rooftop, and they had the AC running perfectly in a few hours. A few days after the install, we experienced some vibrations and noise from the unit. Nothing major, but it was annoying, so I texted Randy. At that point, I had already paid them in full, so they could have put me on the back burner and there wouldn't be a lot I could do about it - but they didn't. Randy responded within an hour (on a Sunday) to say they would be there in the morning. Quick installed an amazing new HVAC system in our home in record time after the old system failed in the heat of August -- I contacted them on a Saturday, they came and provided an estimate on Monday, we decided to move forward on Tuesday, and the system was installed on Wednesday. Their price was competitive and they were great to work with throughout the process. The full story: Our air conditioning stopped working on a Friday afternoon in August -- a day we always knew was coming for the 18-year-old HVAC system in our 1886 DC row house. The epic failure of the outdoor unit was captured by our security camera, so I was pretty sure that we needed to replace the entire system and was worried about making such a big (and expensive) decision with the pressure of the heat wave forecast for the next week. I began my research by emailing neighborhood listservs asking for recommendations, and contacted four companies that were identified by neighbors and had good online reviews. Some neighbors warned me that I'd probably have to wait up to several weeks for a full system replacement given COVID-related supply chain issues. I braced myself for a very hot few weeks of waiting. Enter Brian B. Quick. I messaged Brian's company through Yelp on Saturday morning, and Brian responded within 30 minutes asking for my number so his associate Randy could call and schedule a free estimate. Randy called me that afternoon to say he could come by on Monday. Randy came out on Monday afternoon. He confirmed that the system needed to be replaced, outlined replacement options, and answered our questions (he met with my wife since I was out of town, and she found him more knowledgable than the person from another company that came out that day). Randy sent us quotes for two different replacement options on Monday evening. We went with the more expensive 100% variable speed option; the price was competitive with the other quote we received. The real miracle was how quickly the new system was installed -- we finalized our decision and paid the deposit on Tuesday afternoon and Brian B. Quick's crew arrived at 8am the next morning to begin the installation. The install crew was ably led by Santiago and both Brian and Randy came by throughout the day to check in on their progress. The crew stayed until 9pm to finish the job so we'd have a cool house that evening (these installs can sometimes take 2 days). The crew put down drop cloths to protect our floors and Santiago checked in on any decisions that had to be made (e.g., they had to remove a section of fence on our deck to fit the new, much larger, outdoor unit). The new system is a complicated piece of equipment that requires the thermostat, indoor unit, and outdoor unit to communicate with each other so that the system runs at higher speeds when needed (e.g. when trying to cool the house down by several degrees) and lower speeds at other times (e.g. when maintaining a constant temperature throughout the day). This means that it is much more efficient and can operate more quietly (especially at the lower speeds). The downside of these complicated systems is that there are more likely to be wrinkles to iron out after the installation. The first night we had the system, it cooled the house to the set temperature but later on had difficulty maintaining temperature and sent error messages to the thermostat. I called Randy in the morning, and Brian came to my home within an hour or two. By that point the system was working fine, so I expected Brian to take a "wait and see" approach until the problem returned. But Brian didn't want to take any chances, so he switched out the circuit board on the outdoor unit (these boards are sometimes damaged when the units are in transit). That solved the problem and we have had no issues since. The new HVAC system is simply amazing. Both the outdoor unit and indoor blower are much quieter than before. I was investigating options to soundproof my utility closet (next to our living room) because it was hard to hear my TV when the old system was running. Now it is much quieter so I won't need to do that. Our back deck used to be unusable when the old condenser unit was running because it sounded like a jet engine. The new unit is much quieter, even when running at its top speed.
