We were driving through and stopped after reading the great reviews. It ended up being a pretty straightforward brunch spot. The food was fine, but felt mass-produced. They weren't trying to dazzle the taste buds or wow you with inventive flavors, just getting orders out. I can't blame them because the place was packed with a 30 minute waitlist. They ran out of pancake batter and came back to re-take our orders, so it felt like double the wait to get our food. They reimbursed us with an 8 dollar discount, which was a nice gesture. Decent spot, but the hullabaloo didn't live up to the experience. I would look for somewhere smaller and more personal nearby.

Stopped in for a little food while out for a drive. Always a lively friendly place. Took a seat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bar tender. She mentioned the special of the day, crispy chicken sandwich which sounded good. Order came out promptly with a side of house fries. Very tasty sandwich. Fries were excellent. Overall a great meal

Brick & Mortar absolutely impressed me. The energy in this place felt positive the moment I walked in, relaxed, inviting, and genuinely warm. The customer service was top notch, every interaction felt thoughtful and attentive without being overbearing. And the Bloody Mary, Superb. Perfectly balanced, bold, and easily one of the best I've had in a long time. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Overall, an excellent experience. Great vibes, great drinks, great people. I'll definitely be back.

Food is always delicious here and they have so many options- love the wide variety of breakfast and lunch foods available. Drinks are fantastic as well. The prickly pear mojito is my favorite. Service was excellent. Ambiance of restaurant is very nice too. Love the older part of Albany.

Chicken fried steak, hash browns were cooked perfectly, steak had a crispy buttermilk coating and the gravy was elevated and flavorful.

The food had amazing flavor and generous portions at an extremely reasonable cost. Highly recommend easy stop for a nice sit down breakfast/lunch. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Located in a nice old building, seating was comfortable with plenty of elbow room.

My husband and I had a lovely breakfast at Brick and Mortar Cafe. They were very busy but we were able to be seated right away at the bar top. Our seating was comfortable and the restaurant was so cute! Very intimate feel. We LOVED the Mexican mocha, it was the perfect amount of spice! I did mine with oat milk and it was amazing, I compared it with the regular milk my husband got and they were both so good. I had the fried chicken Benedict and my husband and had the Carnitas Benedict. I preferred the Carnitas but they were both delicious! Can't wait to try more of their menu.

Brick & Mortar is located 20 minutes outside of Corvallis and we chose it with the hopes that it would be less of a wait than the few other restaurants located within the college town. We arrived around 11am and it was a 45 minute wait, which isn't terrible considering it was the Sunday after a home game. Once seated, it did take a while to order and get our food but the staff was very friendly. The food was your typical American breakfast and lunch, I got the club sandwich and it was pretty yummy. However, the French dip was underwhelming and the Buffalo & Liege was a little odd. The concept of a chicken and waffle sandwich sounded good but the waffles were too soggy. Overall, this is a good choice if you are in need of a breakfast spot in the Albany/Corvallis area but I have had better food elsewhere.

Such an amazing breakfast !!! The menu has a variety of different unique things to choose from, they have an amazing coffee menu too. To start off, I ordered a Salted Caramel Latte, it was delicious !!!!! My husband ordered The Black & Blue Omelette, with Hash Browns, Mortar style ( gravy with fresh bacon & shredded cheese). I ordered the Carnitas Benedict, with Hash Browns, Mortar style. It was delicious, the hash browns were probably the best I've had. The Benedict has the perfect poached egg, and was so good. The portions are huge, I could only finish half or less, My husband must have loved his omelette, cause his plate was empty when we left. Definitely recommend !!!!

Good breakfast. Had the lemon ricotta pancakes. Yum! For a heavier meal my son had the chicken and waffles. Friendly staff and nice sit down restaurant. We were traveling from Corvallis to Portland. Would go back and try again.

Their prices are also very fair, I'd highly recommend trying it. I'd give it a 4.5.

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, an order of crab rangoons to share, and a mountain dew. My daughter ordered a hamburger and fries with a chocolate milkshake. The rangoons were actually really good, lots of filling but kind of burned. My burger was ok but it was covered in seasoning salt, it was pretty much the only thing I could taste. My daughter really like her burger and fries. Her milkshake was good, but was really really thick, almost too much chocolate. The soda tasted like carbon water and not mountain dew. Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

The shrimp and grits was bland and not very appealing. The frites were what seemed like a lot of small pieces and bits you'd find in the bottom leftovers of a big bag of pre-cut frozen French fries and, frankly, were overcooked. The French onion soup tasted almost burned, not rich and deeply flavored as would be expected of such an item. There was nothing about the meal that screamed or even whispered "fine dining" except for the price. We won't be back.

This place has been holding down the fort for what feels like forever, and walking in feels a bit like stepping into a time capsule where the coffee's hot, the plates are big, and nobody's in a hurry to reinvent the diner. One of my personal favorites is the patty melt simple, classic, and exactly what a patty melt ought to be. My daughter has her own favorite on the menu Monte-Cristo with fries that could probably feed a small ranch crew, That's kind of part of the charm here. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and when a lot of places in town have already shut their lights off for the night, Pop's is still there doing its thing. Now, I'll be honest it shows its age a little. A bit of cleaning and polishing here and there wouldn't hurt. But honestly, that worn-in feel is part of the story. If you're looking for something affordable, old-fashioned, and dependable especially later in the evening Pop's Branding Iron is definitely worth a stop.
