When we ordered we found out some of the bar seating isn't included in Happy hour so we were moved to a hi-top that did get Happy hour service. I think we got lucky when we got Leilani as our server. My wife has been excited to try our new Cattlemen's in Elk Grove so we finally made it in for dinner. Parking was fairly easy to find in the large parking lot they have that's near the Best Buy shopping center. You can make reservations online; we walked in and it was about a 20 minute wait for a party of four. We were seated and waited for a very long time before being greeted by our server. Unfortunately that was the beginning of rather poor service and awareness throughout the evening. We ordered a full rack of their beef ribs, the sirloin and Dungeness crab, a children's meal with chicken nuggets and applesauce, and their Brussel sprouts, fried mozzarella, and shrimp cocktail appetizers. Bread and most of our drinks were brought out shortly thereafter. The bar took some time to make a juice mocktail for our little one. The sourdough bread and butter were the star of the evening. The bread was fresh and warm and the butter was salted perfectly. The fried mozzarella was decent but was grossly overpriced for being only four pieces. The shrimp cocktail was a huge disappointment. It didn't arrive until we were getting ready to leave and it was ordered as dinner for our oldest. We inquired about it multiple times and the lack of awareness, empathy, and hustle was a constant theme throughout the evening. It arrived lukewarm and my daughter and wife said it tasted gross. Needless to say, I politely asked for it to be removed from our bill. The salad was decent, nothing to write home about. We had said no beans but they were still brought to the table and we didn't try them. The beef ribs and twice baked potato were good. The mashed potatoes had fresh green onions which was nice, but needed more butter. We asked for it multiple times to no avail. My wife liked the crab and steak; she ordered medium rare and it arrived medium. We weren't very impressed and our bill was $180 with tax and gratuity. We spend less at Texas Roadhouse and the service is always notably better. I won't say we'll never be back; but we're not in a rush to go back in. I'm hopeful their service improves. We saw management at the front of the house; they were equally unaware throughout the evening. They made zero effort to walk the dining room and check in with guests. Z was our primary server for the night, open until 9PM. They do have Happy Hour at the bar until a certain time if you're interested in wine, beer, or apps like garlic fries! There was also a tempting dinner for two that included 2 entrees, 1 app and 1 dessert but we decided to each do our own instead. Complimentary bread (sourdough?) loaf and butter was super warm and scrumptious. All entrees come with "Fixin's" which are salad (all you can eat) and ranch-style beans served family-style, and choice of mashed potato/baked potato/rice/veggie medley. Dressing choices are ranch, Italian, thousand island, blue cheese, honey mustard, Caesar... Party of 6 for Steak! [Elk Grove CA] Met with a group of friends and dined here for the first time. We have a Cattlemens in Roseville but I understand that this location in Elk Grove is pretty new. Most of us in our party ordered some type of steak except for one, she opted for salmon. I ordered the Small Sirloin - 8 oz. sirloin steak for my lighter appetite (discounted by $1 from 28.99). I chose the rice for my side. I'm Filipino, gotta have rice! LoL! Zale was our server that evening and he was friendly and attentive to our table. This place took over what used to be Logan's roadhouse. Parking was packed, but there are a few empty spots you'll have to find to park in. Once inside, everyone showed up on time and we were seated quickly with a reservation. We all took a while to order since we were having to much fun catching up. Eventually, Zale, our server, got our orders and went on his way. We got complimentary bread and butter, waters, and depending on what you ordered, all entrees come with all-you-can-eat salad, baked beans, choice of mashed or baked potato or rice, or vegetable medley. I got the Petes special, which came with a 10 oz sirloin, and I opted for the baked potato, which comes with sour cream and chives. Cheese and bacon bits are extra charge. I also added on sage butter to my sirloin for $1.99 charge (worth it). The sirloin was good. Had great flavor and was cooked to my liking. The baked potato was great also. Tried the new Cattlemen's Steakhouse in Elk Grove and it was not bad. I had made a reservation so there was no problem getting a table. We were seated fairly soon at a nice spacious table. All of us ordered steak except for one salmon. The entire table received some complementary bread and butter, salad, and ranch-styled beans. I ordered the Rustler Rib Eye Steak ($41.99) with mashed potatoes, which was 14oz. boneless marbled cut. I opted to add sage butter for $1.99. It was supposed to be topped with onions, but there were no onions when it came out. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, with a little bit more on the rare side, and it was medium rare. I had imagined the steak to be very thick with lots of seasoning and rare to medium rare, but when the steak came out, it was thin and flat, and reminded me of a American diner steak, instead of a steakhouse steak. The taste and texture was more like a diner steak - some parts chewy and not as flavorful, instead of thick, juicy, tender and flavorful. I would not order a rib eye from here again. The mashed potatoes were okay. They did not come with gravy, but the server offered us some au jus, which was somewhat better than nothing, but not as good as gravy. The mashed potatoes were heavy. We got a brownie sundae for our celebration, which was nice. Our server was nice and polite, but a little clumsy as he knocked over water cup, dropped onion into a water cup, and then knocked over the salad dressing. What was strange to me was that after he knocked the items over, he didn't offer to replace them until we asked for replacements. Nevertheless, he was nice and friendly. Cattlemen's has daily specials Monday through Thursday. On Thursdays, the special is the 8oz. Sage Butter Sirloin Steak for $27.99. They also have happy hour, but you have to sit in the bar area. Arrived and informed 35 minute wait on Friday night. Received text to be seated fairly accurately. Bench seating available. Toddler was very hungry and we appreciate manager gave her some bread while we waited. Lots of decor barn house, deer head mounted, cowhide, etc. Lighting on the dim side as most American restaurants are. You can tell it is a nice restaurant when reservation asks if there is a birthday or anniversary celebration occurring. There were 3 birthdays during my visit where the staff sang to the birthday person and lit a candle for them. Happy hour pricing is only for bar seating. The brussel sprouts were delicious and cooked just right. The prime rib was so tender in the tacos. The filet mignon petite size was perfect with all the appetizers were ordered. The vegetable medley side that came with the entree was so tender I would eat more and highly recommend. The beef ribs had excellent texture and was delicious. The pork ribs were also great and not too much sauce. Additional bbq sauce on the side. Bathrooms were functional and clean. I think the changing table was in the large bathroom stall. The Pete's special steak was tender (the filet mignon was even more tender). The Cabernet it came with was smooth! Garlic fries were very seasoned. The beans are seasoned with cumin. SO this is the second time we have been to this place. We have never gotten a reservation. I only walk in so far. I really think you need a reservation if you don't come in before 430PM. It is always crowded and we had to sit at the bar area last time. This place is western themed. They have horseshoes as the door handles when you walk in. Country music playing throughout the place. Their uniforms are cowboy shirts too. When we arrived at the reception desk they tried to make us take the seats in the bar area. I could see that the main dinning was pretty empty and I asked to sit in the main. One of the hostess lead us to the back of the dinning room. We even saw one of our friends sitting in a booth as we were walking back. The dinning rooms are pretty big. The front part and middle where we sat. There was a back area and even a glass walled off dining area to my left . It's pretty big in here but I know later it's mostly full. The booth seat was pretty comfortable. I think our server said his name was Evan but not sure. He was great , always checking on us. Very friendly and on it. My wife got the prime rib, the small cut. It looked great and she said it was tasty and liked it. I even had a bit. Yummy. I had the bigger cut last time we were here. I got the Rustler rib eye and it was a 14 oz. Not a bad size. It was really good and I liked it a lot. It even had carnalized onions on top. I got the wild rice and very flavorful. I think the meat was from Harris Ranch. All good. Oh and they have French bread . The good stuff like Boudins. Nice and crunchy crust. I forgot I got an iced tea and it came in a huge mug. Like a big beer glass. Awesome because I drink a lot of tea. Went here on a busy friday night but had a really delicious meal and an enjoyable time. Made reservations and got seated right on time. Started with fresh, hot sourdough bread and a large martini. The all-you-can-eat salad was fresh and dressing was perfect. Ordered the bbq beef ribs and went full on caveman eating these huge ribs with a tasty bbq sauce wow, so good. We stopped here for dinner with family, and unfortunately it was one miss after another throughout the evening. I'll start by saying that I did speak with the manager at the end of our meal to provide feedback. He was very receptive, apologized for the experience, and gave us a discount on our bill, which was appreciated. Because of how he handled the situation, I am willing to give them another chance in the future. We were seated in a great spot, but after being seated, we waited about 10-15 minutes before our server ever came by. During that time, plenty of other servers passed our table, and we watched neighboring tables receive attentive service while we sat with our menus and no drink order taken. Everyone in my party ordered an alcoholic beverage except for me, I ordered a Coke Zero. Somehow, all of the alcoholic drinks arrived first while my soda was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, I watched nearby tables quickly receive their soft drinks. Our server was nowhere to be seen, and after everyone else had their beverages, I was still waiting. I even went to the restroom and took my time, and when I returned, my drink still hadn't arrived. We eventually had to flag someone down and ask about it. One of my relatives ordered a set meal that included an alcoholic beverage. Unfortunately, our server seemed unsure about which drinks qualified for the promotion and offered an option that apparently wasn't included. My relative selected it, and we later discovered it had been added to the bill as a separate charge. Another relative ordered a steak that was not cooked properly. We sent it back, but the replacement took quite a while to arrive. By the time the corrected steak came out, the rest of us had already finished eating, which left her sitting there with nothing to eat while everyone else finished their meal. As for the food, there were some positives. I like that the meals come with sides, including salad and baked beans. The steak itself was good, and I enjoyed the crispy fried onions on top. One odd thing was that our first serving of baked beans arrived only lukewarm. Since the portion was small and we had four people sharing it, we ordered another serving, and those came out piping hot. We hadn't realized they were supposed to be served that warm. Overall, the biggest issue was the service. The food had its ups and downs, but most of our frustrations stemmed from inattentive service, long waits, and order confusion. As we entered, we were quickly greeted with big smile! The young ladies told us that it was a two hour wait without reservations. They then guided us to the bar area. We were disappointed because we didn't like bar stools, but we decided to give it a try! As we sat down, Roman greeted us with a big smile. He was making a mixed drink for someone and he said he would help us as soon as he could. We received our menu to look over and we received our drinks! We ordered the Rustler Ribeye Steaks. Our meal came with sourdough bread, unlimited salads, baked beans, and potato of choice. Our service was FANTASTIC even though this place was packed on a Sunday dinner crowd. We were checked in by Roman in between his other customers. Another lady was helping another couple near us even stopped over to ask if needed anything. Now, that's SERVICE since we were not her customer! Overall, we truly enjoyed our dinner! This place is newly opened and very busy and we felt lucky to be pampered by caring employees. Was super excited to try this place! We had a mixed experience here, but overall there were definitely some highlights. Starting with the appetizers... they were just not it. The artichoke dip was mediocre--edible, but nothing special. The tumbleweed was basically fried onion straws, but they were so greasy it made them hard to enjoy. Same issue with the calamari--chewy and completely overpowered by oil. We won't be ordering appetizers again. On a positive note, the complimentary bread with butter was SO good!! Bread is always a good way to start the meal. The entrees really saved the experience. The prime rib was flavorful and delicious, I would absolutely order it again. The New York strip was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The beef rib (from the kids meal) was surprisingly generous in portions, fall off the bone tender, and seasoned well. The pork ribs were also delicious and I chose to pair it with mashed potatoes. Overall, the meats were definitely the standout here. Sides were decent...mashed potatoes were good, fries were fine. The beans tasted like a smoky, campfire style baked bean (very reminiscent of classic canned baked beans, but with a nice BBQ flavor). Drinks were hit or miss. My husband said the Old Fashioned was classic and spot on, but the Mai Tai tasted more like juice than a cocktail. Dessert, however, was amazing. The cow pie brownie sundae was sooo good, and the deep fried apple pie really made an impression, as it had actual apple slices inside, which made it even better, it was served with ice cream and I was just in love with it. It was a very busy night, but service was overall fine. I did notice the manager checking on several tables around us but never stopped by ours, which was a little odd. All in all, we'll be back for the meats and desserts, but definitely skipping the appetizers next time. This place just opened up the other day so there are still signs of things improvement that can be made but I enjoyed my visit regardless. I was and to quickly get seated immediately since the bar is open for anyone to grab an open seat. I got the horseshoe margarita and hot honey chicken sandwich during happy hour. I had a reservation and we were sat immediately. The service was fantastic. Our two servers were very friendly and quick to bring us what ever we needed. I had the ribeye cooked med rare. Came here with the family. The quality of food was mixed; the beef ribs were dry and the bbq was sauce was basically ketchup. My ribeye steak was really good though; perfect medium and super juicy. The downfall of this place is the service. We weren't really sure who our server was - at first it was a man who took out order. He then was gone for a while - he then noticed we didn't even get our drinks, and he mumbled that someone else was supposed to give us the drinks so he decided to it himself. Eventually the food came, and then we never saw him again. No one checked on us during the meal - not once. Eventually, when we finished our meal we had to flag a server down, a woman this time. I was able to make a reservation for last Saturday, during Father's Day weekend, also listing any allergies within our party of 4. We arrived before 6, greeted as we entered and checked in, or so I thought. The place was packed with lots more waiting to be seated. While waiting, those without reservations were told about the 2 hour wait or sit at the bar. Once 6pm passed, many had left, so they were seating quite a lot, except us, so I checked and was informed that we hadn't been checked in, by the same host who checked us in upon arrival, anyway, we were seated next. Our server was Brandon, he was very nice, attentive and was informed about the allergies. The manager came and dropped off the ingredient menu of all items on the menu, so we knew what to avoid, which we appreciated so much. Let me get back to Brandon.....he made sure he was present for us, answered questions and offered suggestions. The steaks were so delicious, well seasoned and quite large. Growing up in the Bay Area, Cattlemens was always one of those classic family celebration spots for us -- birthdays, graduations, special dinners, you name it. So naturally, we decided to celebrate Mother's Day early here on a Friday night and made a 6:30 PM reservation. To their credit, we were seated right on time, which honestly ended up being one of the smoother parts of the evening. Unfortunately, things started off on the wrong foot almost immediately when I noticed my plate was dirty after we sat down. Not exactly the first impression you want at a steakhouse. After looking over the menu, we ordered drinks. I went with a Whiskey Sour, which arrived tasting completely watered down. My sister ordered the Cowboy Cooler, but it was initially made without alcohol because they assumed she was under 21. They did remake it, but it set the tone for the rest of the service. Meanwhile, my parents ordered a margarita and a beer... and then waited over 20 minutes after our drinks had already arrived. We were told the bartender was "swamped," but staggering drinks at the same table that badly during a special occasion just shouldn't happen. Then came the food issues. When they realized the mistake, the solution was basically, "the potato is on the house," which felt more confusing than accommodating. Went around 8pm on Wednesday and got seated immediately at the bar! Our drinks came fast, and they provided us with our salad and warm bread while we waited for our meal. Bread was delicious, lollipop lamb (3 pieces for $10 hh) was juicy and well salted! We got the full rack of beef ribs ($37) with the sweet potato upgrade ($4). It was good but our appetizers were our favorite, and I think we will stick with the mashed potatoes next time as they look really good! We made our reservation the day of (on a Tuesday) and all they had was 4:45 or after 7:30 PM. Food was delicious, we had the couples meal for $89 which included an appetizer, two entrees and a desert. Each entree included unlimited salad, bread, beans and a side. To say the least it was a LOT of food. Steaks were cooked perfectly, the onion appetizer was delicious and the apple pie was so yummy, hot and delish! Service was great! We had a 7:45 p.m. reservation for dinner last night (Saturday). When arrived we were seated right away. The Cattlemen's decor was filled with strategically placed artwork that replicated scenes from the old west...Nice! The servicer brought our bread and drinks immediately. We ordered our food and all of it was great! My husband ordered the Sheriff Steak with sautéed mushrooms, Tomato Basil soup and beer. I ordered Mushroom Ravioli with garlic cream sauce , a baked sweet potato with honey pecan butter and a coke. The food tasted absolutely scrumptious! The service was excellent! Even though the restaurant was packed our server, Evan, checked on us regularly. I was pleasantly surprised by his great service. Evan was professional and friendly. He was attentive, regularly checking that our table was cleared of used dishes, or whether we needed anything i.e. drinks refilled, more bread etc. Kudos to the reception staff for their warm welcome and prompt seating. Kudos to the chef for a fantastic meal. Double Kudos to Evan and other service staff for their most excellent customer service. Yee haw! Cattlemens made it to Elk Grove! Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We went right at opening (4pm) and the place was already filling up quickly. We went straight to the bar area (saloon) on your left as you walk in. It's open, clean, and bright; very different from the other Cattlemens I've been to, where it's dark but offers more of an authentic old-timey saloon atmosphere. Service was good and fast. Our $6 Happy Hour drinks were strong, delicious, and nicely presented. I had the raspberry lemon drop and my husband had the house margarita on the rocks. The HH drinks are definitely the draw. For food, we ordered 2 of the baby back ribs ($10) and the garlic fries ($6). All good, but the ribs, served over tumbleweed onions, were inconsistent. The first plate had 3 small pieces of ribs over thin oily onion strings. The ribs were tender and served with bbq sauce on them. We ordered another and this plate the ribs were bigger and the tumbleweed onions were nicely battered, not oily, and more like onion rings. The prices of the HH burger and sandwiches were $18.99, so it really didn't seem like a good deal compared to the steak specials on the dinner menu (for example, $25 sirloin steak on Wednesdays with all of the fixings). My suggestion is to have some nice and cheap HH drinks with a nice steak dinner in the saloon when you go to Cattlemens, especially if there's a long wait for a table. read more

The best part of the Cattlemens experience is undoubtedly the perks. Unlike Texas Roadhouse's iconic sweet rolls and peanuts, Cattlemens starts you off with unlimited salad and sourdough bread. The sourdough was fantastic, and it's a massive plus if you love a hearty pre-meal spread. Furthermore, their Prime Rib looked excellent, and I would definitely return specifically to try that next time. The Letdown: The Porterhouse. Unfortunately, the steak didn't quite live up to expectations. We ordered the Porterhouse--the "king" of their steak lineup. While the flavor was good, the quality of the cut we received was disappointing. It was riddled with too many inedible, small tendons that were incredibly rigid, rubbery, and highly inelastic. For a steak of that caliber and price, you expect a much cleaner, more tender cut. While I appreciate Cattlemens' unlimited sourdough and salad, I still prefer Texas Roadhouse. There is a distinct advantage to being able to hand-pick your own steak from the display case at Roadhouse, ensuring you know exactly what you're getting. If you want a solid prime rib and endless sourdough, give Cattlemens a shot. But if you are strictly looking for the best value and quality on a traditional steak, I'd recommend driving two exits over to Texas Roadhouse. read more

First time going to the one in Redding back in 1998 or something like that. And then of course going to the one in Livermore for so many years. The one in Folsom was our go-to since moving out here 7 years ago. And looky looky, there in now one in Elk Grove. 2 weeks old, I believe. Went there with my pals. 4 of us and, 1) we had a blast and 2) the food was spot on for all of us. We all devoured our food! I ordered the Prime Rib, cooked medium, and it was awesome. Killed it! The three other friends all ordered steak and all of our plates were polished off, so we apparently didn't like our food lol. We went in on a Tuesday night around 6pm and the place was packed. Apparently, everyone else and their mom's thought it was a good ideal to go to Cattlemens on this particular night. We didn't have reservations and we didn't call ahead. 1 hour wait. But, there was 4 empty seats a the bar, we took it! From the host crew to the bartenders, everyone was awesome. Super friendly bar staff for sure! Zero complaints from us. We will be back, because, Cattlemens seems to be our restaurant of choice whenever we hang out. i have been hyped ever since I saw the construction efforts on the old Logan's location in Elk Grove! No more having to drive to Rancho Cordova to enjoy a good steak meal.... We made early reservations today to get in and grab an early dinner... Even though it was early the place was still fairly crowded but there was plenty of staff on hand. We got seated immediately and within a minute or so we were greeted by our server, Ravyn. She was super enthusiastic and greeted us quite warmly. She took our drink order and left. I grabbed my rolled up napkin with the silverware and carefully unpacked it, inside and and to my surprise.... there was a live silverfish sitting inside!! (Google: Silverfish are not harmful to humans or pets, as they do not bite or carry diseases. However, they can damage household items like books and clothing due to their feeding habits, making them a nuisance rather than a health risk.) I was surprised to say the least. I caught my wife's attention and she was not pleased. She approached the hostess station, napkin and silverfish in hand, contacted the manager. When she returned to the table she said that manager offered an apology and we ended having three wait staff come by the table to offer me new silverware and napkin... It was not my intent to make a big deal about it but I can't say I was pleased about it... While we were waiting for our food to arrive the same manager who spoke to my wife stopped by the table directly behind us to speak to the couple who was dining there. He spent no less than 5-7 minutes apologizing to them because one of their steaks was not cooked to the correct temp. Meanwhile, my wife is asking if I think he will stop by our table to offer his apologies... well, he didn't. Later another manager stopped by because I had expressed surprise at how hot the cocktail sauce was for the shrimp cocktail we had. As he was apologizing for that he never mentioned the bug. My wife finally mentioned it to him and he replied, "Oh yeah, that too". Again, I wasn't looking for compensation but if they made such a fuss over a misfired steak why not a live bug in my napkin?? When the bill came I was hoping at least our drinks (soft drinks) would have been comped as a gesture of goodwill... nope. I asked to speak to the manager and the same manager came by who had been there earlier.... I expressed my disappointment at the way they handled it. He then offered to comp our dinner, we politely declined, again, I wasn't interested in being compensated just being shown some customer service.... I really like Cattlemen's, I do... We have eaten regularly at the Rancho location and when we're on a road trip we often look for a location. And I get it, new location, new staff, everything takes time to break in but this was pretty basic. Oh yeah, the food... we order the dinner for 2... the shrimp cocktail was overloaded with horseradish, we both had prime rib mine was good but my wife's was loaded with gristle.. the baked potatoes were good and the deep fried apple pie was very good. Been here on the "wait list" for 50 minutes- noticed they were seating people from the wait list that arrived way after we did!!!! Hubby went and complained then 3 minutes later we were finally seated. Of course by the bar. So yes noisy!!! Arrived at 8 pm. And it's 9:55 and still waiting on our order!! Sal has been a good server and Shannon's was very polite to us!!! This place is ridiculous. It shouldn't take this long to prepare 3 steaks--- 2 hours , grandbaby is hungry and tired. A few days ago we came here and it was a two hour wait. They gave us a 5 dollar coupon. We decided to go another day. So we made a reservation for Monday at 4:30. We arrived early and got seated right away. The booth that they sat us at was big but a moth kept flying around so my boyfriend killed it with his napkin. The customer service was good. Staff was friendly but never asks if there is anything wrong with the food. Because there was something wrong with the food . The pork ribs were salty and dry. The beans were also too salty. I ordered a loaded baked potato not sure if they had a toddler in the back putting on some cheese and bacon but there was 3 shredded cheese and a teaspoon of bacon. Charging 1.99 for barely anything . Is that inflation price or something ? I brought it up and the person who brought out the food was like oh it's under the sour cream ... I i was digging around and did not see a difference . I didn't want to complain again and make a big deal out of it. The only thing I liked out of that meal was the unlimited sour dough bread with the butter and the unlimited salad. The place is clean and new but if I had to choose I would choose Texas road house over this. Their pork ribs melt off the bone and the actually load your loaded baked potato with cheese and bacon that is more than one teaspoon. My boyfriend got the filet mignon with a side of mashed potato. It looked kind of sad without any gravy . Maybe when I come back next time I will try their beef ribs because I remembered that being good when I went to the one in rancho.
