Really disappointing... used to love coming here.. they have the best patio set up, but truly the staff, from management on down at this location has ruined it. Stopped by last week during our stay in the Houston area. The service was great, the food was average and the drinks were okay. I expected a bit more on the flavor and taste on the food and drinks for the amount of money that we spent here. The other issue was as soon as we received our food it was followed by several gnats. After the astros game requested to turn on the UFC fight to the waitress but the bar tender was too worried about chasing tail and tied our waitress up. I've now been here twice and I like it. It's more of a sports bar tv and food thing but I enjoyed it. We didn't have any alcohol, but the place was jumping as the Astros playoff game was on. The server was attentive. We ordered the white queso as we did the first time and found it very sparse. I didn't want to make a big deal about it so i let it go (totally not like me ). Came by for lunch on a weekday and four other tables were occupied during our visit. The parking lot appeared packed but the cars were apparently for the steakhouse next door. We were greeted by the hostesses up front right away and they let us choose whatever seat we desired. The place was pretty chilly and we had to keep our jackets on, though it was a colder winter day and the bar area actually is open to the outside. I usually order the drunken chops whenever I go to a Brickhouse T&T because they make their pork chops well, are thick cut, and not dry. Unfortunately this location was opposite and gave my thoughts on their chops a negative review. The DRUNKEN CHOPS have a sweet, whiskey BBQ glaze that gives the pork nice flavor but the crispy shallots and cheddar mashed potatoes (a side I could choose) were boring. The potatoes were of good consistency but lacked any cheese flavor. The pork was very dry and tough. It took a lot of knife work to cut through, which I can say was a first at any Brickhouse location I've been to nationwide. The price tag was definitely not worth it, though the looks of the chops were good. The FISH AND CHIPS also fell into the very bland and dry category. I was disappointed with the dish as the only part that was good were the french fries. The fish batter wasn't crispy and the tartar sauce was weak. The service was okay...job done but nothing exceptional. Doesn't look like I'll be back to this location. The food was subpar and not what I would enjoy. read more

Brick house tavern Yeah atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Was immediately greeted by the hostess and the manager. Throughout the whole evening I notice the manager Mr. Roosevelt checking up on all the guest to make sure everything was going well. I also noticed all the other people working there seemed very content and at peace with their positions. I noticed a server not just being out a meal and place on tab. They would bring them out and had conversation with them in regards to their meals. Everyone seem to be smiling and sincere with their service. I mentioned it to Hubby the positive vibe I was getting from the whole restaurant. Hubby then stated "well you know how that happens? it starts from the top." That is so true ! It's very evident that the manager Mr. Roosevelt is doing a great job with his team! And they in turn are giving all customers amazing service with a great attitude. Although, it did not taste fresh, was not hot enough and you could literally feel the grease around the inside of your mouth when biting into it. The grease texture is really hard to describe. It wasn't drippy oil grease that I felt, something a little more solid just as lard is once it's cooled down. Nevertheless, I did share that with the manager, Roosevelt and he was very receptive and appreciative of the information. Sat down and immediately killed a medium sized roach crawling towards me on the top of the bar with my menu. The bartender wiped it up, bought my husband a beer and apologized. It crawled out of the spill grate. I also wanted to know where that bar towel went? I had a Prosecco since it came from an unopened bottle but was already pretty grossed out. This was my first time here. The restaurant has a very urban feel with a laid back atmosphere. They have a beautiful patio if your interested in patio seating. As I entered, I received a warm greeting with friendly smiles. I was given the option of indoor seating or a seat on the large patio. I chose indoors with the insanely hot temperatures outdoors. There's a inimate sofa area in front of the fireplace if you care for a cozier area. My server was prompt and continued to provide excellent service through the entire visit. It was his second day and he tried to answer my questions. What he didn't know, he asked. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday till 2 pm. Happy Hour has good prices on appetizers and drink specials 4pm - 7pm. They have a full bar with twelve rotating taps. I'm not a beer drinker but the selection appeared fairly average. One of the popular mixed drink house specialties is the Zombie ($8.50) with a limit of two. I couldn't wait to try the Deviled Eggs with smoky bacon, hint of jalapeno & paprika. The order is 6-halfs with a nice presentation on a stainless steel serving tray designed for the eggs. I found them on the runny side with a small slither of bacon on top and rather bland. Most of the flavor is paprika with barely enough bacon to note the flavor. I probably want order again due to lack of flavor but 6-halfs is perfect quantity to share. The Spiked Calamari is tossed with cherry peppers & jalapenos with a side of spicy marinara. It's a nice size portion served in a small skillet for an attractive presentation. The Calamari was crispy with several Calamari rings and not greasy. The thick, spicy marinara complimented the Calamari and off set the cherry peppers and fried jalapenos. I would order again. I would like to try the popular Crispy Duck Wings ($11.50) in the brick sauce & cilantro served with a sriracha ranch. Or maybe the Drunken Pork Meatballs in Jalapeno & BBQ Whiskey Glaze served with cornbread ($9.50). Sounds like my kind of spice. Brick House offers 7 types of Burgers with a standard Cheeseburger, a Farmhouse Burger topped with fried egg & mustard sauce, the Lamb, Bison, or the The Kobe Burger all running between $10 - $14.50. My server said their burgers are very popular but I'm not a big burger fan. Sandwiches are an average of $12 with a Southern Fried Chicken or Grilled Chicken sandwich, a Philly Cheese Steak, or Turkey Club. The Favorites category runs $12 - $14. One of the most popular items is the Chicken Pot Pie ($13), made daily, and I was told it was incredible with pulled chicken, red potatoes, peas, thyme topped with a flaky puff pastry. The Drunken Chops ($16) are two brined center cut pork chops with Whiskey BBQ Glaze, shallots and choice of a side. Steak lovers aren't left out with 2 filets, shrooms, caramelized onions, smoked provolone, piquant sauce & thyme potatoes ($20) or Sirloin Tips ($15.50). Fish lovers should try the Grilled or Blackened Mahi-Mahi with roasted garlic butter, Jasmine Rice and choice of a side ($16.50). For the salad lovers you have 3 options of Thai, Chopped Chicken or Filet Mignon Salad. If I lived in Texas I could see myself visiting often with the excellent service and especially with the large, partially shaded patio. Both bartenders were not really friendly. Waited even longer for a second beer. Was waiting to be asked if I wanted a third beer and waited and waited. When I was finally asked, I said no, bring me my bill. Hmmm, imagine this...it took longer to get my bill. When It came I was only charged for one beer instead of two. So I waited and waited to try to get it corrected. Finally, I paid for one beer and split the difference for the second and left. I will not be back. One star was generous. Update...I've been back a few times since and they really do a good job. They have redeemed themselves from a bad performance. Maybe my original post made a difference. We had a really tasty lunch served with friendly efficiency by Asha, who checked on us regularly and made great recommendations when asked for her ideas.
