What a great find! We've been there about 4 times now and have never been disappointed. They've really gone out of their way to hold the line on pricing while maintaining terrific service and food quality. Like other small local owned and run diners, expect a certain amount of delightful uniqueness. I took my mom there last week. She's 97 years old with dementia so this was an exercise in normalcy. We did this during the week when it wasn't so busy. That gave our server enough time to be accommodating and boy did she perform. She noticed that my mom was a bit overwhelmed with the tortilla soup (something she would have loved in years past), and the server volunteered an change to oatmeal which worked nicely for mom. read more

Update for September 2nd 2023, lots of expansion has taken place. Outside dining has been revamped and is looking really great. Inside has been cleaned up and the booth seeting has been reupholstered. Bridgehead cafe now serves alchohol and stays open late for dinner. They also offer Friday Night Karaoke which is awesome. So the new ownership has definitely made lots of great improvements. The food was delicious as usual and staff was very friendly - BUT..... Now for the Bad. I would definitely give Bridgehead Cafe a D- or flat out F for this. Got there, was not greeted at all when coming inside, despite all the staff. It was Saturday Morning and lots of workers were there and even made eye contact with us when we entered. I guess I'm spoiled by their usual friendly greetings everytime I entered inside in the past. Well there was none of that this today. We took our seat and it was at least 45 minutes before we were ever even acknowledged, brought our silverware settings and asked for our drink orders. The new ownership probably does not want to hear that, but the initial entry experience was very poor today and I heard 2 other separate customers complaining about the long wait they had as well which lead me to leave this review. After placing my order, it was another 15 to 20 minutes before we received our food. Now don't get me wrong, the food was excellent, once we finally got our meals. The wait times and lack of or no customer attention at all for 45 minutes was horrible. At one point I looked at my watch and picked a time that if we were not greeted, I was just going to stand up and leave. Luckily we were finally greated after 45 minutes, our drink orders were taken and shortly after that or food order was taken. I would have at least like to have been greeted and maybe just let us know that they were super busy and it's going to be a while, rather than just leaving me and my other party sit there in suspense and getting agitated after 45 minutes of no, zero, nada customer service at all. There was plenty of workers, so someone could have easily went table to table with a friendly greeting and maybe quickly let everyone know about any delays. They just need to make improvements in this area and everything else was great. To summarize, great food as always, but lacklustre customer service and attentions to small details. read more

Great place to go for breakfast. After new ownership took over we had a small hiccup with service but later went back. The business was out the door, and Tammy one of the waitress took great care of us all the while racing around taking care of all her other customers. Construction going on does not impede with current restaurant functionality, for an addition which will bring a great atmosphere . read more

I was so excited to revisit the Bridgehead cafe as I had heard they changed ownership and I feel every restaurant deserves to reorganize and start fresh. We came in on Saturday morning around 11am we were told to sit at any clean table and we did we were served ice water right away and we waited for our server to arrive as she came by our table she was flustered and I felt almost annoyed to have to take our order, my mom ordered bacon and eggs with tater tots and English muffin well toasted and I ordered the breakfast sandwich with hash browns and 1 side pancake. Our food took nearly and hour our server was rushing around the restaurant you could not really get her attention the young lady rolling silverware and taking care of her young daughter gave us better service she noticed our food was taking longer than usual ticket times and kindly brought us 3 little blueberry muffins she was lovely and I felt bad for her having to roll silverware and play mom all at the same time. We got our food and my breakfast sandwich had no cheese and the bacon was so burnt it was not edible. My mom's breakfast was just as terrible burnt bacon and burnt uneditable English muffin. I understand getting slammed and ticket times being unusually long, I understand new line cooks getting the swing of the kitchen what I don't understand is allowing food to leave the kitchen looking like something you would never serve to your own family. I have spent many years in the restaurant industry and clearly there was no management on site helping out staff during a peak time especially on weekends but what stood out the most was how your kitchen doesn't communicate with the servers and clearly no one works as a team. read more

I come here every time I visit family in Antioch. It is always a popular spot. I love the breakfast. Trust me it will be worth the wait for a table! They keep the coffee flowing. Staff is always nice and food comes out pretty fast. My grandma always gets eggs Benedict (as long as it's not sold out) and loves it. I've had chicken fried steak and the gravy is great! Today I tried the country scramble; it was awesome! The gravy still had good flavor, eggs were fluffy. Generous portion for a great price. The tots had a great crunch. read more

Since the last time I reviewed this place, they have not only kept up the consistency in food and ambiance, but they also fixed the bathroom problem. Their breakfast is large, cheap, and great. Classic Hometown Cafe Cute local eatery with a log cabin ambience. There was plenty of outdoor seating that complied with the social distancing rules. The outdoors seats were wooden picnic benches in front of this charming restaurant. The waitress was extremely hospitable. I ordered the homemade corn beef hash. I was surprised when I was offered hash browns or tater tots. I never had tater tots with my corn beef hash before so I had to try it. The corn beef hash was good not to oily and with the tater tots it was fun to eat. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. This is a great place for a basic breakfast. read more

This place is going downhill now that the new owners are here. Maybe the building wasn't in the best condition before when Murray was running the place, but his staff really cared about the people dining there. I been going there my whole life and it's also just down the street from me so it was a staple. I had a housefire couple years ago and Murray's staff insisted that my husband and I eat for free. Fast-forward to the new owners, went for breakfast and was extremely disappointed. The service took a very long time and the food was bland. The new owners don't seem to have very good social media presence as they seem to be trolling negative reviews (about being charged money for tapwater) with strange responses. All in all, I think my days of going to bridgehead Café is over. I hope Murray is enjoying his new endeavor but I will miss his restaurant. read more

Tammy and her crew makes your time there worth it by making everyone feel like family. We figured that we'd come by to see how the place was doing under new management. We arrived on Sat around 11am, there were still a handful of tables available, so we chose a booth in the back. I believe the booths may have been reupholstered over the years, unfortunately they still need more cushion in the seats. The place was a bit crowded, so it took a while for someone to come by with menus, silverware, and to take our order. I decided to get the 2 Pancakes & Eggs $6.29, and a side of Hashbrowns $3.79. My husband got the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs $9.99, with a side of Biscuits & Gravy $3.29 & coffee $2.25 It probably took a good 20-30 mins for our food to come out. My pancakes/eggs came out, but I had to ask for my side of hashbrowns, which was all good. My husbands biscuits were rather hard and chewy, almost like they were previously frozen and reheated in the microwave. They only seemed to have 1 older waitress, and 1 cashier so it took a while to get things like a straw, extra napkins, and our bill. The new larger porch is gonna be really nice in the summer, but they left the huge Oak tree which tends to lose a lot of leaves, and acorns. read more

Few months ago got a child's plate not for a grown man more like for your kids, sad. Microwave tater tots. Eggs sucked and service slow WAY slow. Plenty of waitresses that was not the problem. The waitress we has was great! The cook was a mess, slow and don't know what he's doing. Heard other people complain. Today 48 minutes and no food. We left with out eating. Never to return. Not a local any longer. Born in Antioch and spend 18 years there. This was always a place. When I stayed few days a week in concord my brother and I would drive out and eat there now and then. Recently looked this place up to share link with childhood friend and checked out the menu. Seems instead of opening for evening/dinner times it's now open for breakfast and lunch. Prime rib seems gone. Read a review that stated not much is better than well done eggs, hash browns, and bacon. That's partly true. I see meatloaf in on menu. Replace bacon with nicely fried slice of meatloaf. Take a bigger step, roast a prime rib one day, retaining that gold prime rib fat, and make steak and eggs with eggs fried in prime rib fat. I grew up in a family of 9, so we hardly ate out. But now?! I'm a grown a** man & I'm getting it, so I come here whenever I feel like taking my lil family out for breakfast! Biscuits n gravy? Smack! Stopped in here morning after a fishing trip.ate outside and the weather was nice. Menu has a lot of items. I got some coffee served on one of those really thick ceramic cups. You don't see those like you used to. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs, hash browns. The steak was not your typical Salisbury steak, but actually a pounded steak done the way it should be. Nice. Rye toast and crispy hash browns. Service was good, didn't have to wait around with an empty coffee cup waiting for a refill. I ordered my eggs over medium. My preference is over easy, but many times ordered that way you get partially uncooked whites so I usually say medium to avoid getting uncooked whites. No luck on this order. A bit uncooked. I did enjoy the overall experience but please be sure to fully cook the egg whites. Low heat and longer cook time as to not overcook the bottom Other than that, you did avoid job. Came in for breakfast on the weekend. It took about 45mins after ordering for the food to arrive which is fine since we had no where to be, but it arrived cold. The scrambled eggs had started to form a skin level of cold. When the plates landed on the table our server said the toast and biscuits and gravy would come out in a minute. We never saw the server again until she brought the check. We told her we did not receive the biscuits nor the toast. She apologized and removed the biscuits and gravy from the check. First time coming. My boyfriend and I love finding small businesses to support and we've never been here so we thought It'd be a good idea to try it out. Our first impression was very bad. Inez the waitress was the first person we saw and 1.she didn't greet us 2. She looked angry and rolled her eyes (we said whatever let's just go inside anyway and get seated) Well she ended up being at the counter inside and when I came in to ask about being seated outside 1.she looked up at me and looked away (she didn't say "I'll be with you in a moment," nothing.) 5 minutes go by and she finally says "what do you need," her tone was rude and had no sense proper customer service. I nicely said "we'd like to eat outside but the table that's out there looks like it still needs to be cleaned or maybe someone is still eating there, do you know?" She responds, again rudely and with an attitude, "how big is your party, like what do you want. If you're going to sit out there then you can wait for someone to clean it up." I said "it's just my boyfriend and I, but we can wait." Keep in mind I kept answering nicely and being patient. As I backed up to wait she then proceeds to rolls her eyes and talk about how we're annoying her and asking stupid questions, to a coworker (an older lady with white hair-who just laughed). Yeah. That was it. We decided to go eat somewhere else. I will say kristie and Aurora asked if we needed help or had been helped in between this whole situation.
