I ended up here with my sister and nieces that were visiting from Vegas. They enjoy the Brig's fish tacos every time they visit. I ordered a pair of the blackened Mahi-mahi tacos on corn tortillas. They come by default on flour tortillas but they let you switch the tortillas. The tacos were good. The fish portion was a little under size, but the fish was tasty and tender. The tacos came with fresh shredded green and red cabbage, a green creamy salsa, and a touch of cilantro and green peppers. The hospitality was very good. Our server had a good personality and was super nice to everyone. The service was good too, she kept every one's waters filled and checked on us several times. The food was so good, my family and I came here for our last night in Coronado and it was the perfect ending to our trip. The Brig salad was fresh and a great starter [although get a side because they're big salads) and the two best things were the stuff with the prawn stuffed with crab crabs and lobster rolls. Both were delicious fresh seafood. But the best part of our experience was the service, our waitress, Kelly, treated us like family. She was so sweet, extremely efficient, and just a joy. She also completly respected and helped the fact that we were on a time crunch to get to the airport. Seriously, I cant say enough good things about her. Staying on The island for a week. So happy to pop in for Happy Hour. Had the pleasure of Riley taking care of us. She was delightful. We had great food and drinks and her attention to us was amazing !! We had tacos and great snacks. Crab cake. All great. So we loved it so much... a few days later we wanted dinner. This was a classy place for brunch on San Diego's Coronado Island. The area is a bit more upscale with a great view of the water and close proximity to the hotel and neighborhoods for walking and exploring. However, inside this place, there was a more laid-back bar ambience and some good but fried dishes. We Had the Shishito peppers and the crispy shrimp, which I would recommend. We also had a classic salad and some other shareable items that weren't as memorable for me. Service was efficient. The servers know who their regulars are, which is okay. Plenty of great drink options, but not the vibe we were going for that day. Cute interior, comfy seating, clean overall, with nice decorations. Parking was relatively easy, but I would expect more difficulty during peak hours. We came here just in time for happy hour. Our waitress, Riley, was super cool and funny. She was able to put in our order just as happy hour was wrapping up. We sat in the bar area at the oyster bar. We came back here twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times were great experiences! We sat in the bar area both times - the tables and bar stools in that area are all open seating and we didn't have to wait. Both times I got the Fish n Chips. Yum! Fresh tasting fish, healthy portion provided, with the perfect crispy outside. The fries were also delicious! I like that you can do the bar portion with 2 pieces, or the lunch/dinner portion with more. My husband got the Fish n Chips during our first visit and the Fish Tacos our second visit - he enjoyed both meals. During our visit for dinner we split the Mud Pie - it was a great choice! Was in San Diego for a long weekend with Wifey a couple weeks ago and my only responsibility was to choose dinner locations. My seafood diner choice was Brigantine, which was within walking distance of our hotel. Seated us inside but with a beautiful view of the sunset. Place isn't fancy for your attire. Nice shorts and a polo is perfect. We had a reservation (and it was a little early) si we were seated immediately. Waiter was Billy - who was super friendly and helped us choose our entrees and drinks. I started with a Cucumber jalapeño margarita and Wifey had the Pomegranate sangria. The drinks were great...and mine was pretty strong. For starters we tried the Baked oysters a couple on the half shell. For our entrees Wifey had the Crab stuffed shrimp and grits and I, surprisingly, chose a pretty healthy option of Wok seared ahi and vegetables. The stuffed shrimp meal was very rich (I got one of them), but delicious. My meal was fantastic and I was completely full at the end of it. read more

Not a great experience. The flies inside were bad. We were not the only table swatting them away. The bread was very boring so | left it alone because I was looking forward to the food. I ordered the grilled octopus and it was chewy with some weird tasteless mushy pea type garnish. The waiter at least got me excited about the prime rib special so | ordered that. Then he came back 10 minutes later to say "sorry that was last night's special". The grilled pork chop was good but boring mashed potato and carrots on the side like an institutional dinner. I ordered a merlot which I said 3 times but he brought me a malbec for $20 - Double the price of the merlot on the menu. Overall not good and I am unlikely to return. read more

The staff was wonderful, our server couldn't be better. The location and view great. The food was very disappointing. My husband was looking forward to a swordfish steak. He got barely half inch thick dried out and small piece of fish. The asparagus was so tuff a piece shot across the table when he was trying to cut it. I ordered the scallops which were delicious. But, $44 for 4 scallops was not what I was expecting. I ordered a lobster tail side which had the overwhelming taste of paprika. Lobster flavor was absent. They very happily brought me another one that hadn't been rolled in paprika, but it still had the flavor of paprika and a really bad aftertaste. I did not eat it. It was subtracted from our bill, but overall, it was a very poor food experience. read more

We had such a great experience at The Brigantine in Coronado! Their happy hour is truly one of the best in town. We enjoyed a half dozen Blue Point oysters (outside of happy hour) and they were excellent--fresh and briny. Happy hour itself was a standout, with $7 drafts, select cocktails, and wines, plus a variety of food options that were both generous in portion and full of flavor--all for just $7. You can't beat that value. We also came by on Taco Tuesday, and wow--the tacos were only $6 each, but they were large, loaded, and absolutely delicious. The Brigantine is a great place to eat any time--the food is always delicious--but the happy hour deals with their generous and flavorful offerings are an extra perk. This was a casual location that had a diverse menu with mostly seafood fare. There was a large bar upon entering and it also included open air seating it seemed. The service was appreciated as the food came out in a timely manner. Three dishes were ordered, the crispy brussels sprouts, crispy coconut macadamia shrimp, and the fresh steamed clams. The brussels sprouts had pieces of pork belly, Spanish chorizo, blue cheese, and salted caramel. The sprouts had a great cook to them and contrasted nicely with the blue cheese and salted caramel. The caramel on the meats was unique too. There were plenty of the meats present, which was nice to see. The shrimp had a ponzu sauce. There were six extremely large and crispy shrimp tails. The sauce was not too overpowering, and it stuck on the shrimps without falling off, which was ideal. The clams had chorizo, shallots, garlic, and lemongrass in a red curry-coconut broth. There were also pieces of toasted baguette. There were about two dozen clams or so. The clams were too small, however. The sauce was appetizing and mostly made up for it. Will I go back? Came on Sunday afternoon with the cousins. Was around for happy hour and we had a toddler with us as well. Our server was great, checked on us frequently but not overly so, made sure we had everything we needed, very personable and didn't rush us out. We order a plethora of dishes, fried artichoke, shrimp cocktail, Cesar salad, kids Mac and cheese with fruit, sliders and nachos. Portions were all very good size, everything tasted nice and fresh. Wasn't a huge fan of the blue cheese with the nachos but the fried artichokes were crispy and delicious without being oily. We thought of enjoying some Brigantine's for Happy Hour before heading to an event at the Hotel Del Coronado across the street. There was a table available for the three of us on arrival which was nice. Alyssa was out waitress and was very attentive. It seems like the restaurant is a bit understaffed as we had several different staff members delivering us food and drinks which also meant getting an additional bowl for the clam chowder became a bit more of an inquiry. Margaritas were as always very nice but we're spoiled with other restaurants pouring these and us drinking them at home. Fish tacos were satisfactory, more because of the fish than the other parts of the dish. Clam chowder nice and creamy and the nachos had potato chips, not tortilla chips to our surprise. I did not check the menu to see if this is mentioned more in detail, but it may help to emphasize on this bit. Lastly, the ahi poke to start with was nice and fresh. Oh yes, the restaurant itself is cozy, bit confusing layout with the bathrooms away from the entrance and a lot of cross traffic with staff and other patrons. This was a fantastic experience of eating at this restaurant from the food to the service. Riley was a top notch waitress that make our experience even better. She was so on top of everything we needed and the food was out quickly. She kept asking if there was anything else we needed. I mean just exceptional service she provided. The food was delish! And Luis was amazing also, he assisted Riley in bringing out food and asking if there was anything more that we needed. At the end of our meal, he offered 2 free salads because the kitchen had leftovers at the end of the night. Marissa the restaurant manager came to our table at our request and told her how great her staff was and how wonderful the meals were. We did have few issues with our meals and Riley resolved every single one of them with us, without question. If we could give this restaurant 10 stars we would. Must visit! read more

The dinner and customer service was amazing. Our waitress Jill at table #158 went above and beyond to make our dinner Oustanding. Jill was on top of everything, detail oriented, exceptionally friendly which is very important to us when dining out. The food was amazing everything cooked to perfection which is rare lately when we go out to eat. The Swordfish was superb and recommend this to all that visit this restaurant in Coronado. Super bummed about our latest experience here. We came on the 4th of July (come at me with all of excuses you want about busy season etc etc). They have a new large patio area but we were seated in the old patio area and were blinded by the setting sun. So we passed around sunglasses as the sun position changed. The table ordered calamari for an appetizer. FYI they are strips and not the o rings and little squid bodies. Table wasn't much of a fan of them. I am gluten free. We have eaten here before. I enjoyed my food the last time. I ordered what I order last time- mahi and was told they were out but could sub a different type of fish. I forget what kind he said. So I said yes. After orders were taken he came back almost 10 minutes later letting me know that the other type of fish was "pre prepped" and was not gluten free so I needed to pick something else. I am allergic to red meat so most other options I liked had bacon. I should have just asked if they could be made without bacon but I didn't want to keep having to change my order. I ordered the sand dabs and it was awful. I barely touched it. I think we will skip this place next time. Based on other reviewers it seems to have gone down hill a bit. read more

We sat at a beautiful table on the outside. Kelly, our waitress was phenomenal! She was quick to introduce herself and tell us the specials of the day and ask for our drink orders. I had seen the lunch menu online. It was 2:50 pm. I knew I wanted the King Louie Salad. Yet, I wasn't finding it on the menus given and I told Kelly this and that I needed more time to select something else because I'm gluten intolerant. My friend asked if it were still possible to get this since I was visiting from out of state and leaving the next day. Kelly asked if I had any other food sensitivities she should be aware of...so kind! My issue wasn't a burden to her. She just wanted me to have a great meal! Kelly happily said she couldn't make any promises but she would ask the chef if this was still possible to get the King Louie. She was back very quickly and told me they were preparing the King Louie for me now. Yay!!! The dressing and the quality of the seafood was delicious! I actually had lobster instead of crab. Omgoodness! I look forward to returning to the Brigantine again and having this same meal. I hope Kelly will be there to serve us! We have been to the happy hour numerous times and coming from AZ for the summer, I craved the ahi sliders which I have ordered for the last 6 years. And I can't tell you my shock to find out the ahi sliders are no longer on the happy hour or regular menu.
