Sometimes if you see a very long menu like the one at Briggs Corner, you assume the food might not be too good but you will be happy to find that the food is very good here. This time we got the Saturday special of ribs, a fish and chips plate, and the land and sea entree. The portions are big. Each entree comes with two sides and choice of soup or salad. Everyone commented on how good their dish was. Our waitress tonight was on point and quirky. We liked her, but more importantly she provided perfect service. The wine pours are not measly, and the prices are very good. One note: we always get a table and have never eaten at the bar. I save the five star reviews for only the most impressive gourmet meals/ service otherwise I would rate more star. I really want to love Briggs because it's sister restaurant to The Mediterranean, which I love, but I just can't. We went yesterday and the table wasn't greeted for almost 10 minutes. I ordered the steak tips medium well, which came out dry and well done. They made another order of steak, which came out well done again. They didn't offer anything for the inconvenience and the dish was $17. Looking at my bank statement today, I noticed that my card was charged twice. The waitress came back to the table and says it's going to be an additional $13 to my meal. The manager comes out and says its a miss type. Needless to say we left without dinner. This place is loud and smells like stale beer. The food is straight out of a frozen package. The wait staff seems full of themselves. If you use the drive up window for take out you get a good view of the unpleasant activity going on in the kitchen. Briggs Corner Pizza used to be one of my favorites for many years, but the last couple of years they have disappointed. I had not been there in about a year and decided to give them another chance tonight and was even more disappointed. My boyfriend's reaction to the pizza... "clearly the manager must have been off tonight"... there you have it! There was so much cheese plopped in the middle that we couldn't even separate the slices of pizza. Our first time here was last night. Patty was our waitress. She was so polite and friendly. The food here was amazing! We went after visiting La Salette. They have a full bar. I had an eggnog martini for $9. The Four Seasons pizza I had was small but I still brought home 5 pieces. I noticed so many take home boxes going home with people. The Portuguese chicken wings were so yummy. My fiance' got the Portuguese little necks that were also delicious. Our 14 yr. old had steak tips and fries. The food is good quality but priced on the higher end, which is fine if its made correctly. The first 2 times we ordered everything was great. I literally could not wait to try Brigg's Corner Pizzeria. I passed it time and time again, and wanted to order, and finally the right moment came and I went for it. Pepper and Onion pizza, Pineapple pizza, and a short rib special. I hate saying this, but I HATE their pizza. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur. I couldn't wait to have it out of my house. I stopped eating pizza for a little while because every time I thought of pizza all I could think of was this soggy grossness. Briggs. Called and ordered a take out pizza at the place that receives my steady business. Was told 45 mins. I arrived 55 minutes later, paid for my pizza and was told to "wait a few". Long story short, 65 minutes later I went to the counter and started getting loud. I was being ignored so I pushed the loud level to be quite loud. 10 minutes later I received my pizza - no apology, no offer, no nothing. Pizza was good but my time (over 2 hours) is worth more. My wife and I got meatball subs from Briggs Corner Pizzeria on 10/11/15. The meatballs were clearly frozen packaged meatballs with that characteristic rubbery texture and uniform shape, and very bland taste. Seriously Briggs? You call yourself a Pizzeria and you serve me Alpo meatballs? I've had better meatballs from a can of spaghettios. This is a shame. We live nearby and have eaten from Briggs many times and found the food good. The __old__ meatballs? Always tasty. Good enough to have ordered meatballs on our pizza many times. My new favorite restaurant!! They have he best chicken parm in this area ! Also the chicken broccoli Alfredo is to die for! The whole menu is delishh! Briggs is very hit or miss for me depending on what item I order. I love their pizza and calzones, and the apps are decent. The book boom sauce is delicious. I've had a few annoying things happen with my food that I didn't ask for. I ordered an Italian sub with everything and hots today. It didn't come with pickles and they toasted it without me asking. I can't stand cold cuts toasted, they're called cold for a reason. A few weeks ago I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and they grilled the wrap. I've ordered buffalo chicken wraps from tons of restaurants and never once had someone grill it. The lettuce was wilted and the wrap itself tasted awful from being on the grill. The portions are a bit small for the price. I have only been for takeout, never inside. I love the convenience of the drive thru for pickup so I don't have to take my child out of his car seat to go inside. I've tried a couple salads and wasn't impressed. So, most of what I previously stated (in my first review), still stands. But, there have been 3 issues lately, that have kept us from going back anywhere near as often as we used to. 1.Lack of consistency. The last few times we ordered, the pizza looked/felt/tasted like it was rushed. Sloppy, uneven/too little cheese, crust too soft/floppy, just not the great pizza I've come to expect from them over the last 2 and a half decades. 2.Price. 20 bucks for a steak and cheese calzone?? Seriously? I can get a good cut of steak with a salad and baked potato for that price. The more these folks charge for their pies, and the more inconsistent their quality becomes, the happier I am that I'm getting better at making my own pizzas. 3.Problems with their credit card system. We went one day and got a large cheese pizza. My girlfriend paid with her debit card and the next day there were 2, separate charges on her bank account. It took 3 phone calls and 3 different managers before I finally spoke with a person who was polite and knowledgeable enough to be able to help us fix the problem, and she informed us that it wasn't the first time their credit card system had done this. I've been a loyal customer of this place since 1990 when I first moved to this city. I have to say I think that when the place was J&D Pizza that the pizzas were so much much better as well as the service . They are still good but lack consistentsy when it comes to the quality of the food you get because it is never the same , I went here with my boyfriend for our first date and the pizza and service we got was amazing (he told everyone in his family as well as friends how great this place was) but unfortunately when we did takeout from here a week later the pizza that was delivered to us was cold and over overcooked. I was pleasantly surprised when I joined my family for dinner here tonight. I was expecting a pizza parlor, but got much more than that. I ordered the seafood special (can't remember the name right now, but it was the last item listed on the specials). It had lobster, shrimp, scallops and little necks, cooked in sun dried tomatoes, garlic, cheese and a white wine sauce, served over egg noodles. It came with soup or salad (I ordered the Caesar salad...the homemade croutons are DELICIOUS) and pizza dough bread on top. It was a huge portion (lunch for tomorrow!) and FANTASTIC!! The calzone and lasagna that others ordered were HUGE. Our server was very accommodating and patient, checking on us throughout the meal to be sure everything was okay. Then came desserts .... too much for me, but others ordered, so I had to try it all! Be sure to save some room and you will NOT be disappointed.
