We were surprised by the pleasant experience of visiting Bright Vision Optometry. This is a well-run office that puts patients first. I can only really give it a average 3 stars because my husband did end up getting his prescription sunglasses, but everything was contingent to 'getting the sunglasses' on time, and it wasn't on time according to what I was told over the phone. I called quite a few optometrists around the area for a 2 week turnaround timeframe and Bright Vision was the only one who said yes. They require additional examination (granted at a discounted fee) on top of regular prescription check, but since my priority was the turnaround time, I agreed to send my husband there. After the appointment, my husband came back and said they ended up saying it might be '2-3 weeks, but they will rush it for us'. I was quite suspicious about that, but that was after he paid for the exams and everything, so I went along. And I didn't get the glasses at the end of 2 weeks. I was on the phone with them and asking for a refund, but they wouldn't do it. They said they called the vendor and I should be able to get it in about 2 days (because of shipping time), it'd be too late anyways, but the glasses still didn't come in 2 days as they promised the second time; the glasses came at the end of the 3rd week. We brought our daughter here today for her eye measurements for OrthoK with Dr. Julie Kao. She is very professional, patient, warm, and kind. I moved to Chino Hills a little over a year ago, but was still hesitant to move my optical needs here because I had been going to the same optometrist in my hometown of Pasadena for my WHOLE LIFE! haha. However, I hadn't had an eye exam in about three years and it was becoming clear that I was not going to drive to Pasadena to get that done. I found Bright Vision on Yelp and chose them based on the reviews. I'm so glad I made the switch! I'm terrible with names, unfortunately, so I can't shout out all the wonderful people who helped me by name, but everyone from the front desk, to the optometrist, to the young woman who helped me laboriously choose a frame (yes, I'm a diva! lol) was wonderful and patient. I try to spread joy everywhere I go, so I'm fairly loud and I laugh a lot, and they all joined right in and spread joy right back to me. My exam was super through and very comfortable. I also really love the new test they do instead of that one that used to blow that horrible puff of air in your eye, YOU DON'T FEEL ANYTHING! HAHA. She also showed me the back of my eye and explained how you can tell things about your physical health based on your eyes, they really are the window to the soul :) They have a large selection of brand name frames and were happy to let me take all the time I needed to choose, even down to me taking pics and sending them to my sister and waiting for her reply :) When I returned to pick up my glasses they made sure everything fit correctly and that I knew how to use my progressive lenses and encouraged me to come back if anything was wrong or if I had any discomfort. She also explained in detail how I would have an adjustment period because my vision had changed quite a bit since my last exam three years ago. I feel like I'm seeing in HD now y'all! All of my insurance paperwork was ready when I arrived and handled very well, I paid my balance on my first visit so I can't comment on any payment options other than that. If this were a restaurant, it would have three Michelin Stars. Easy. The level of service, attention to detail and overall experience is a masterclass of what all medical practices should be. The onboarding was fast and efficient. The scheduling and appointment process was a breeze. The recently renovated space paid every attention to detail, from cleanliness to a welcoming atmosphere. Dr. Soong took his time and thoroughly explained in detail about the entire process. I finally got clarity in understanding exactly what was happening and why and provided a mini-educational session. I was prescribed what I needed and what was practical, rather than the strongest prescription where I felt dizzy. My previous optometrists would rushed me out the door. The opticians and front office took care of the rest and walked me through the insurance and the selections of frames. Nothing was upsold or any unnecessary products were pushed. Their patience and standard of service is what's missing among other practices: Where others focused on cramming in as many clients as possible throughout the day with massive upsells, BVO focuses on quality and actual customer concerns. They are embracing technology to improve efficiency, and constantly raising the standard level of care through investing in the latest machines. No shortcuts are taken. You can really feel the positive energy in this office. It says a lot when the part-timers going through medical school and eventually end up as doctors to work here. The level of support that the owners provide and the passion of giving back to their industry is very motivating and much needed in any business. I can't recommend BVO enough. Came back for my annual eye exam and follow up. My optometrist, Dr. Steven Soong gave me a very thorough eye exam and made sure I left with the proper information to take home. The experience was personal and I felt very welcomed by the service of the entire staff. The new renovations had a more luxurious and friendly feel to it and I'm glad I returned. We have been going to Bright Vision for 3 years. We always buy the quantity of contacts that our insurance covers and after that runs out, we order refills online because contacts can get pretty expensive so we try to search for deals. It's a Saturday and our contacts didn't arrive on time (I guess you get what you pay for) so I panicked and called Bright Vision because I saw they are open on a Saturday. I asked if I can possibly pick up 2 pair of trial contacts because we are a loyal customer even though we did not purchase the second set of contacts through them. The receptionist put me on hold to ask and she came back to say that it's "policy" that she cannot provide trials since we didn't purchase the contacts through them. She said she already gave us trials the first time around. Zero sympathy. Did not care that we were in a bind on a Saturday. I read their emails often about them being a family business and we always try to support family businesses but this one might be getting too big for their own good and losing sight of helping out families. We will be going to Dr Kim down the street. Reminder that there are plenty of options in vision care. read more

Amazing Optometry spot. Located in a small shopping plaza. They have a few reserved spots for patients right in front. Front of house service was great. They were quick and friendly. Did not have to wait long to start my exam. Perfect spot for families, they have a little play area for younger kids to keep them occupied during exams. This saved our lives. They are fairly new, you can tell by the very tech forward machines they use. Dr. Soong was my optometrist and he was one of the best eye doctors I have ever had. Welcoming and super professional. I've never had an eye exam like the one I had at Bright Vision. The staff here are so well trained and proper. At other optometry offices, I am always rushed through my exams. However, that is not what I experienced at Bright Vision. Dr. Sam was very thorough and explained everything to me perfectly. She knew my concerns and addressed them all. From the moment I walked in, to the pre work, to the exam, and then even at the final check out, the staff made sure I left the office happy and without any questions or concerns. I'm really really impressed with Bright Vision. In my adult life I've never found an optometrist that stood out from the rest- they're usually all about the same, and I've tried a different one every year for my annual exam. Yelp reviews have typically disappointed me when it came to doctors. But something about BV is special. Standouts: Friendly and attentive service from the lady doc. She has an upbeat bedside manner. The only thing is I wish she told me what is routine for annual exam (ie my eyes weren't dilated) but I was in a hurry and I didn't ask. The assistants know what's going on and are competent. They texted me a few times to make sure I got the rebate for my contacts. Documents were emailed promptly. I got Dailies here- changed my life! I was so impressed I rec'd this office to my husband, who saw the male doc. He was equally pleased. It takes me more than 30 min to get to this office, but I am sticking to the best! After trying all the highly rated optometrists in my area, I'm willing to make the drive. I'll be recommending this office to friends. Thanks again and keep up the great work!! read more

Great doctor, OUTRAGEOUS prices, questionable business practices. I will say Dr. Steven is great. He is a young doctor but his approach is very refreshing, often lacking in the field of optometry. My eyes aren't that bad but I've never received a more thorough examination in my life. He took his time to explain everything and my prescription has never been sharper. A++ on this part. However, everything here is waaaay overpriced. Sure they carry high-end brands but they charge 150%-200% of retail on everyyytthinggggg. I picked the cheapest Ray-Ban frame they had available but after tacking on $70 for this coating and $50 for this option, etc etc, my glasses came out to almost $900!! Even with a top notch insurance coverage, I still had to pay $250 out of pocket. I told my wife who's worn glasses all her life and she agreed, she has NEVER been charged that much for a pair of glasses. And a piece of feedback for the front office: when a customer makes an appointment you should assume that they will show up, and not assume that they will be a no show. I don't understand this logic. To explain, I made an appointment and I didn't think much of it. I was never sent an email or a text asking me to confirm my appointment. However a day before my appointment I had a missed call/voicemail from a lady telling me that my appointment will be cancelled unless I call back to confirm my appointment. Again, when a customer makes an appointment you should assume that they will show up, and not assume that they will be a no show. Or implement an automated confirmation request system if you're that wary of no shows. I don't understand this logic and we end up starting the experience off on a weird/awkward note. This was my first time at the office and I was absolutely amazed. The inside of the office is incredibly large and they have a wide selection of glasses. Also, the atmosphere of the office is also very modern and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. I saw Dr. Sam for a second opinion as I have been having flashers in my eyes so I came for a dilation. Her exam was extremely thorough and she made sure to take adequate time to conduct a good exam. The office also has very new technology and equipment that also made the experience and exam much better as I got to see what they were seeing as well. This visit was actually a second opinion as I previously went to Costco but I felt that they just rushed my exam and opted to just do optomap to examine my retina and actually encouraged me to skip dilation saying it wasn't needed. Dr. Sam actually found some findings for me and is now recommending me to follow up with a retinal specialist. I strongly recommend going to this office instead of other patient mills like Costco. With my daughters old optometrist under new management I took the opportunity to try somewhere new a little closer to home. Bright Vision was easy to make an appointment and all information was provided to fill out online before the appointment which was awesome. Upon arrival they had us wait in the car till they were ready to take us in. Both the assistant and doctor were friendly and personable. Asking questions about her school year and favorite interests making my daughter feel very comfortable which a greatly appreciated. The exams went fast and smooth and they explained everything to her so she understood as well as myself. I appreciated the upfront and honestly of all the staff. They made recommendations but also let us know when things were optional Vs necessary. My only small complaint is we have very good coverage and have never had to pay any costs for the exams and did have to pay here. It was a small price to pay for a great experience.
