Recently had deep cleaning. This was my second deep cleaning. Experience here was better than my first experience at my dentist in AZ. No diss to my Dentist because I love him but hygienist was not gentle. Deep cleaning was performed by Theresa. Theresa was very professional, educational and assuring during my procedure. Other staff at this office were nice and friendly. Location and facility are very nice. It was hard to get initial appointment as new client. Eventually I was able to get seen. However it took two months. My husband was taken right away because he established care during height of Covid. Parking here is metered parking but if willing to drive a few blocks can secure free parking. Close to Blue L (Damen Stop). Cost seemed higher than I was used to but could be comparable to Chicago dental practices. My deep cleaning was $800 (insurance covered half). I would say overall happy with this practice.

On two occasions the dentist called me and asked me if I could come in earlier on Fridays so she make it to her child's after school games on time. I naturally accommodated her request as any gracious person would. I think it is very unprofessional of their office to dump a patient with less than 24 hours notice that they no longer have a dentist who accepts their insurance! I was offered the opportunity to self pay. If I could self pay I wouldn't be on Medicaid to begin with. If you like dentists who constantly talk about what something will cost you during your visit, this is the place for you. It's not about the patient here, it's only about the money. They had 6 months to notify me in writing, via email but they waited until they thought Id agree to self pay to contact me. Tacky.

That same assistant entered the room and started my appointment without introducing themselves or asking my name. I was a new patient. The exam room was a tiny cubicle with a chair facing the wall; claustrophobic and outdated. Then my dentist came in the room. He glanced at my ex rays once and asked if I had any sensitivity or issues, to which I answered "Nope". He said, "we'll see!" He then proceeded to look at my XRays and asked "when is the last time you went to the dentist". I told him two years ago, before I started grad school. He was extremelyu condescending and looked at me and said, "Are you sure?". He asked was I brushing at night and flossing, to which I answered yes. Again he was condescending, and doubted me and asked "are you sure?" I reassured him yes. He said is it maybe sugary foods that are the problem? This is all before the dentist has ever asked me to open my mouth or start my cleaning. He proceeded to call me "kiddo" and "girly"; I'm 33 years old. I felt so disrespected that I wasn't sure I wanted him to clean my teeth. I mentioned that I thought I had asked to see Dr. Siddiqui. He proceeded to do my cleaning in under 15 minutes. I went home with debris still in my teeth, and feeling like I had nothing done. Throughout my exam he made comments about my teeth like "oh Jesus", "oh Lordy", "goodness". The only information I was given related to my oral health was to buy stringed floss not pics, and we'll see you in six months. I understand now why growing up my parents chose doctors and dentists by referral. This experience felt awful.

Coming back in 2020 for the first time, we were in and out in about 15-20 minutes. Pretty quick for a dentist visit, but I thought their procedures might be shorter due to COVID. Well, a year later along with vaccines, my last appointment was still only about 15 minutes. My teeth felt dirty just a month later. Due to a change in insurance, we were able to make appointments at another dental provider who was shocked at the state of our teeth. My husband has to go in for deep cleanings, which aren't covered by insurance. Chicago Avenue Smiles cost us hundreds of dollars, not to mention the panic of realizing our dental health has been neglected for years. I hope they change things, but I wouldn't trust them for further visits.

The staff was alert and very attentive on making you feel comfortable while they perform massages on your gums and teeth. My teeth feels like a new shiny car with a new car smell. They had to perform their routine yearly x-rays, my first thoughts were "crap" only because the x-ray film that they jam in your mouth is so uncomfortable from my past experience in other dentists. I was amazed on how technology has improved this process. They had a weird gadget that holds the film in place and it was comfortable and fast. This entire x-ray and teeth cleaning experience took less than 30 minutes. There is plenty of free residential parking nearby (enforced permit parking starts at 6pm) and metered parking in front.

I went in here without high expectations. And they blew me away! I am so happy! Everyone should come here! My experience was great from the moment I walked in the door. I was greeted warmly by Dr. Kim, which made me felt welcome, which I haven't felt at a dentist's office in a long time. My hygienist, Ina, was the most gentle EVER when she flossed my teeth. Not once did the floss pop through and hit my gums, even with my tightest teeth! And she was friendly, warm, and engaging. When Dr. Kim visited with me, she walked me through what she was seeing - things that needed immediate attention and long term things to keep an eye on - none of which surprised me. She showed me what she was seeing in the X-rays, but also with pictures of my teeth. Seeing pictures of my teeth was so great in being able to see what was happening in my teeth. She explained everything to me in a way that wasn't condescending, as some dentists have a tendency to do. She gave me plenty of time to ask questions. In addition to having a few dental issues, I also have dental anxiety, which causes me to ask a million questions :) Dr. Mullarkey is always patient, compassionate and thorough. She makes me feel at ease because I'm confident I'm in good hands. Lastly, the office staff is great. They are friendly and organized and were able to get me in last minute today because I had some tooth sensitivity.
