I hadn't been to this breakfast spot before and have always wanted to check it out. I have to say it didn't disappoint. It's super clean, friendly , helpful staff. The decor is uplifting and bright. I happen to pop in on Tuesday morning. It was not busy at 8:30 which was nice. We felt like we could really enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Everything was delish and priced reasonably. We both enjoyed a vanilla London fog tea which was very tasty. Our bolo breakfast sandwich was yummy as well. I definitely will be back to try there other specialties. All around amazing!! The in house hot vanilla latte was to die for. The pancakes were thick and fluffy and everything you want on a chilly Sunday morning! The sausage and bacon were delicious and perfect size for a side. The service was quick and friendly, always checking to make sure we were all good. They were very busy when I arrived but I was given an accurate wait estimate and was seated promptly. (It's a relatively large place.) Service was very good, food was excellent (home fries very crisp, benny was lush with sauce). The only thing that could have been better might have been the OJ (did not seem fresh squeezed), but overall I really don't have any complaints. Definitely recommended for brunch! read more

My daughter and I came for a late breakfast on Saturday January 18, 2025. Definitely utilize the waitlist option if you are doing the call ahead option. Wait times can be long. That said it is Worth The Wait. I ordered the So Good omelette and it lives up to it's name perfectly prepared and so delicious My daughter ordered the pancake with strawberries and one was more than enough I also ordered the chai tea which was a little bid of heaven in every sip. We've read a lot of good reviews about this restaurant. We're locals and have never been, so we gave it a try. The service was very good and the ambiance was nice. We were there for breakfast. The coffee was ok, not outstanding. My wife had French toast which she said was pretty good but she's had better. I had scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and a grilled English muffin. Everything was good except the eggs. They were cooked on the outside but we're still soggy and wet inside. I was disappointed. We may try the sunset again in the future but it might be awhile. There are many other restaurants in the area that we want to sample first. read more

Bristol Sunset Cafe was recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is really nicely decorated and we got there early enough that we were seated immediately. I got the Cajun Shrimp Benny while my husband created his own omelet and also got a side of corned beef hash. The portions were really generous and everything was delicious. The food was amazing but my favorite thing from Sunset Cafe was actually the Iced Chai. Best Chai latte I've ever had - strong chai flavor and the perfect sweetness. Food is always great, breakfast basics and also some items with a little extra. Service was pretty fast considering how busy they were. They use an online wait list that works fabulously, we join the list when we leave the house and a 25 minute wait turns into our drive time. Stopped in to try dinner on a Friday night. I was surprised to enter a basically empty restaurant at 7:30. Especially with the breakfast crowd they get here. But after trying the food I can see why. Sat at the bar and split 2 appetizers. Ordered the chicken wings and calamari. The menu says the calamari is served with banana peppers and chourico. There were literally 2 pieces of chourico and just as many peppers in the dish. The calamari itself was not crispy at all. We ordered the chicken wings plain and they were just tasteless. They have no Pinot Grigio, which is usually a standard wine. There are some craft beers that didn't appeal to my companion, so he settled for a Narragansett. Wasn't impressed with the first go around. Will possibly give it another try at some point. read more

Having lived in places where diners are a thing, it's always sad to me that New England doesn't really do them--at least not as I know them. There have been many weekends when my wife and I have craved a giant, random menu and a case of desserts, only to find none. Bristol Sunset Cafe is not a diner, per se, but it's close--but also better. It was a little trip for us from Providence, but not bad. On the weekends this place will have a wait also, since it's the only game in town. But it will be worth it. We've sat both at the bar and at a table in the dining room, and the service each time was excellent. All the food we've tried has been very good. It's all clearly made on premises with quality ingredients, and the whole place seems to take pride in what they're doing. Even the biscuits are good, which I did not really expect at all. But the thing that we keep talking about is the butternut squash hash. When my wife ordered it the first time I politely declined a bite until we were waiting for the check, when I finally gave in. This stuff is magical. On our second visit, we just got a side of this to share. It's that good. It's sort of a casserole, sort of a bread pudding. I could tell you what's in it, but that won't give you any clue as to what it's really like. It's fantastic. Overall, this is a great spot. This part of Bristol is good for a walk before and after, and a stroll around town after a delicious breakfast from this place is an almost perfect Saturday. read more
