I'd give this place zero stars. If you sit in the bar area, the service is awful! The food is hit or miss. But the servers make the entire experience miserable. They have the worst attitudes. They won't come to your table for like an hour and when you try to get their attention they get visibly annoyed. They were awful during Covid thinking their face masks would hide their rolling eyes. And without the masks they're duds with no personalities. Even the managers have no personalities and don't care about making guests feel welcome. I ordered 2 lobster Mac and cheese one came with sufficient lobster and the other came with nothing so that was disappointing. Also the pasta was little overwhelming in comparison to the lobster. We ordered takeout on a Tuesday night, two pizzas for the price of one. It was our first time ordering, so I tried to call, no luck. Hung up on me twice. Instead, we went and ordered in person. The place seemed very cozy, they were very helpful, and although the pizza is supposed to be better, eaten at the restaurant, it traveled extremely well and was delicious. They are basically specialty pies, and I was so pleased with the Ferrara, alla vodka, and buffalo chicken pies! I'm glad we took the time to go over and pick it up in person. We stopped by here since most other Brunch places were packed or had a long wait. The venue is very large, much bigger than expected. The menu is also very extensive! They even have a special brunch menu to choose from. We got the canoli French toast to start. We should have ended with this since it was super sweet. It did taste great though. We also got the Truffle fries with cheese. The cheese overtook the taste of the Truffle which was a shame. But it was a nice portion size. We also got the eggplant stack which is made with vodka sauce. This was well made with a great sauce to eggplant ratio. The last thing the others got was the spicy pizza which I don't remember the name of. It was huge, piping hot, and well topped. Everyone loved that as well. I have been here 2 times and the service was very good both times. The food however was awful. I paid an overpriced $20 for cavatelli pesto pasta . It was swimming in sauce and tasted heavy. Definately from a can. It loaded with peas. There must have been a can of peas. I regret not taking a picture. It was ridiculous. Just awful. I had gone with a coworker a few weeks prior and my pizza was super salty. The service, the parking and music made it worth giving another try but the food was worse the 2nd time. Not sure how to feel about Brix but when I left it just had me thinking "huh?" It just seemed to have a weird atmosphere the night I went for a bite to eat with my fiancée, which was really unexpected cause I imagined a Saturday night here would be a bit more lively I guess? There were just a couple tables of people seated and we chose to sit at the bar. We had a couple of beers and split a plain pie with a side of rice balls. The food was decent, nothing to rave about but it was enough to fill us up for the night. I love getting rice balls when I'm at an Italian restaurant and these fell pretty short compared to others. I was excited to try this place because it's so close to where we live and I had heard good things just by word of mouth. This is the place with a case of identity crisis. It doesn't know if it wants to be a bar/club or a higher end Italian restaurant. And it seems like its failing both. We get in and there's no one there to greet us. Had to go ij to find someone to seat our group of 7. They seat us at the bar because there's a party in the back room. Except they then grab us to move inn the back room because a DJ is coming. (On a Sunday? But ok) Even in the back we can barely hear each other cause they are BLASTING the music. I didn't care because I was just ready to go Now the food, if it's one thing they can do well it's their pizza. It came out hot, cheese bubbling, with a crisp crust. The prosciutto and arugula pizza is a hit. I had the steak with chimichurri sauce. But no chimichurri has peppers but I digress. I ordered it medium and that's what I got. My issue was that it was more charred than I'd like. It overpowered the flavor of the beef. And ro have the most expensive plate, I had the smallest portion. Overall, I probably won't be back. Brix I was super excited to try this place, I've passed by it for a while now. My boyfriend and I decided to finally stop by on a friday after work. It was just before happy hour ended so we got calamari and rice balls. The both were okay not terrible good for the price, small portions. I got the sangria, it was not terrible but could have been better. For dinner I wanted the Salmon Pappardelle but they ran out of Salmon. So they suggested making it shrimp instead which I was more than okay with. My boyfriend got the Bucatini. Safe to say we were both very unhappy with the entrees. The sauces tasted heavy, and sweet. Like it came from a can. There was no fresh or flavorful taste to any of it. It was very disappointing due to the fact its priced pretty high. The manager Anthony and his staff are more than welcoming and accommodating. My son and I would go on Thursdays and have dinner together. We sit in the same booth but never eat the same thing because everything is so good and I want to try it all! Sundays are Happy Hour all day and the way Anthony and his cook make the steamed clams are addictive. The San Genero Pizza is where its at! I like the thin crust pizzas they make because it is not overwhelming with too much bread and you really get the flavors of the toppings. The bartenders are always friendly and smiling. I went here last night for dinner and I was really impressed with the food and service. My party didn't have a reservation and the place was all booked for the night. The hostess was very kind and told us to wait by the bar and she would see what she could do to get us seated. We only waited 20mins before our table was ready. The crowd is very mix. The restaurant has live music and a huge bar. The food was amazing, fresh ingredients and their homemade bread was so good. So good that we ordered another basket of bread to go with the garlic shrimps...highly recommend! The pizza was on point and their onion soup is to die for (literately the cheese just spreads everywhere and melts in your mouth). I am extremely glad I finally decided to try this place out. For awhile I had been meaning to go. It's just around the corner from my house. A must better restaurant than Luna that just opened in Nutley. I tried Luna last week and was not impressed. I had waited over an hour and 20mins for a table. The crowd was not mixed and my party felt out of place. The service was sloppy and the food was average. I have eaten there at least 4 times in the last 1 1/2 years. Every time I went it got worse and worse. Onion soup was always watery and took too long for dinner to come out. Just last week we had a Christmas party and it was $30 for open bar 2 hrs and pizza and apps. I think for about 25 people 4 medium pies came out and only 3 apps which was bruschetta, fried ravioli which wasn't good and hamburger sliders . The sliders had been frozen and then heated up. They were soooo dry and hard. This was horrible food and very little of it too . Way over priced . I saw that then have room areas closed off. I thought we would be in a private room that they had but stuck us at all different tables by the bar. Not sure if business is doing too well. read more

Best Pizza I've found near Monclair so far. It's not your classic Jersey shore slice, it's on the more "fancy" side but it's very good. Their Brutetta slices here are amazing (my fav and I'm not like a vegan or anything), but they can get soggy from the vinegarette (esp if you order from delivery). The food here is consistently of excellent quality - my fave is the Calabria pizza (but I add bacon too)! I also had the Italian wedding soup that was so incredibly tasty - was perfect for this cold winter night! And I always get the sangria - made just right! With great food and awesome music, Brix is a perfect place to get together with friends. The chef competed on Hell's Kitchen. They have music every Tuesday night with swing dance lessons by dance pro, Arjay. I grew up during the times where when dancing with a partner, you faced the other person, not touching and danced. Dancing to fast music meant gyrating in front of the guy while he just steps side to side. If he's really trying to impress me, he'd add arm swinging to the mix. Slow dancing meant hanging on to the guy and swaying to the music. While I'll never be a natural, after lessons with Arjay I now won't totally embarrass myself on the dance floor. read more
