Unacceptable. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our order. When it arrived, the food was inedible: sliders and fries soaked from condensation, mozzarella sticks cold, and pizza both burnt and cold. Food is so delicious. This is my 3rd time eating here and it's very consistent. Came here for a graduation party. Also got delivery one time and every single time the food was so good. I had the grill chicken wrap and added fresh mozzarella. Hubbs got a buffalo chicken wrap and baby boy got spaghetti in red sauce. Everything was perfect. Our server was quick.. friendly and very helpful. He got what we needed and on point. The wraps are served with a pasta veggie salad. That was ok but I was more than happy with my wrap. This is our go to take out Italian restaurant. They must know us by hard with what we like to order. The pizza is delicious, not doughy which I like. There penne vodka has chunks of tomatoes which I love, there soup is delicious and eggplant dinner has tons of cheese which is always good. Delivery usually takes 45 minutes which isn't horrible. To put my review into perspective, the last time I ordered from Parkside was back in the mid 90's because I never liked the pizza here. Having read the raves about this restaurant, perhaps they were having an off night -- but this was such a disappointing evening, I thought it important to share it. First, we came on the later side -- 8pm. The place was empty except for one other table. Using the restroom, however, it was clear that others had been in there; the restroom looked like a men's rugby team had been through. The servers were very nice and congenial. We went to Casa Turano because they have a full bar -- but were told that they lost their liquor license and hadn't yet gotten a new one. Certainly didn't ruin the evening, but had we known, we would've brought a bottle of wine. We'd called for a reservation and they failed to tell us on the phone. We all had salads with our meals -- tasted like the plates were put together and left in the fridge. Wilted lettuce that's been left out, and bottled dressing - Kraft, maybe? Very unimpressive. The main courses made up for it -- I had the penne vodka and it was excellent. Others at the table had the veal parm, grilled salmon and linguine bolognese and each person enjoyed their dish. I only tried the linquine and didn't find it particularly flavorful. They have fresh Italian bread on the table that is absolutely outstanding. As another reviewer warned, don't fill up -- it's certainly tempting! We did not choose to have dessert but did order coffee. When it was brought to us, we asked for milk or cream and were told they didn't have any. So we sent the coffee back -- after which the server returned and said, "We do have half and half." So we had our coffees returned to us with the half and half. I will say that the price of the dinner for 4 people was $70 which was a very reasonable price had the entire meal been good. The friends with whom we went go there regularly so I may try it again on their recommendation -- but my first impression was less than favorable. read more

Nothing special or fantastic about this place. Like every pizza joint in New Jersey, it offers pretty much anything pizza or Italian. The bruschetta was half decent, although with the amount of onions they have in the mix, it overpowers the other flavors. Than again, I do love onions. Also not a big fan of fresh mozzarella, but the onions make me forget there's any mozzarella in it. What separates this pizzeria from the 5 others down the street? If someone cared to properly manage this restaurant I am sure it could be great, but sadly, that is not the case. There is no consistency to the atmosphere for example. Sometimes the lights are on, sometimes the music is on, other times you sit in dark silence. The food is okay, but the table tops, glasses, and silverware are ALWAYS disgusting. They don't have a wine list any more, but don't worry, the service is inadequate, and they still have $10 bottles of wine they will sell you for $40. Never again. read more

This review is not for the pizza -- I've ordered items for catering/takeout. A friend of ours swears by this place and ordered takeout for my wife and me. Once we tried it, we were impressed. Meatballs are large, in charge, and truly made with love. I swear I find myself examining them to see what ingredients are in there so I can replicate at home. The Chicken Francese has great flavor and there's something about the chicken that's just so savory. And saving the best for last, this is the best (red) Pasta Fagioli I have ever had. So flavorful and the tomatoes are nice and tangy. One day we'll eat in or order pizza -- but for now this review will be all about catering and takeout. read more

Went for Pizza but the dine-in side looked so nice, and the menu so good had a real meal instead. Food was great. Pasta Turano had lots of shrimp. My wife liked the Ravioli Nonna better. One salad (with great balsamic dressing), 2 entrees, 2 wine, 2 coffee was about $48 (plus tax and tip) and was enough to have doggie bag for lunch the next day. Decent Italian delivery, but they take forever. The gnocchi is delicious and my hubs is sold with the Sicilian pizza. And I will mention that the Sicilian mini pizza can easily feed 3 people (it's huge). I tend to stay away from the chicken dishes since they are all swimming in oil with a weird after taste. We were the first customers on a Sunday afternoon and didn't know what to expect. The caprese was okay. The mozzarella was a little more firm than ideal for a dish like caprese. I had to request balsamic but that should really come with it. One person in our party ordered a pepperoni Stromboli (not on the menu) and they made it for her! It was the length of my forearm and so delicious! Their marinara is on point. It may be a little salty/tangy for some but not me. I ordered the chicken parm and it was delicious. They let me replace my side salad with a caesar and your pasta side can be any pasta with any sauce. If you prefer a thick and creamy vodka sauce, then I don't suggest you order it. This one is flavorful and medium thickness. The other people in our party ordered Chicken Sorrentino and Veal Francese and were both incredibly pleased. This is Bloomfield's hidden gem among the many Italian restaurants in the area. Don't be confused from the outside as it appears closed (the shutters give the illusion of perpetual darkness). Owners, take note. However, as soon as you step into the restaurant, one feels as though they are transported to the mountains of Tuscany. The decor is warm, inviting and not at all pretentious. There is a main dining area in the front and a small intimate dining experience in the back with a beautiful view of the river with ducks frollicking in the water. In warmer weather there is the option to dine outside. The wait staff is highly attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. We have been coming here for about a year now and service has consistently been friendly, accurate and appropriately timed. We have never had to wait for our server or food. As for the food, consistently AMAZING!!!! The bread with seasoned olive oil is addictive. Be careful or else you will fill up on the bread alone. The Mi Casa salad is my favorite and it's a generous serving so consider sharing if an appetizer. My boyfriend loves the cesear salad. The Balsamic Chicken is a must and the pasta dishes are fantastic too! We have tried many entrees and all have delicious. Overall, great food at reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere. It is a BYOB. While Casa Turano seems to be a very popular takeout spot (people were picking up pizza non-stop while we were there for dinner), we decided to dine-in on the restaurant side. It was a bit of a drive from us (25 minutes), but we had a gift card, so we figured we'd give it a try. The first thing that had us happy was they had a very heavy wine pour, with my girlfriend's glass filled close to the rim (I was driving, and just had water). We ordered wings as an appetizer, a chicken parm pizza, and a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Fresh Mozzarella to share. The wings were decent, I prefer my wings well done, and these had no crispy-ness, and the sauce was just so-so. I probably wouldn't order them again. The other two items were fantastic. The pizza was loaded with breaded chicken, and the cheese and sauce were great. I had ordered the grilled chicken sandwich in an effort to get something a little healthier, but was shocked at how good it was. Several pieces of chicken grilled to perfection were topped with large slices of fresh mozz and roasted red peppers all came on a large roll with a side of vinaigrette to dip the sandwich in. Isn't it nice when you go to a restaurant for the 1st time and it exceeds your expectations? Last night I was meeting relatives here and we had a simply wonderful time. Food was great, service was more than attentive and prices were truly reasonable. Most everyone ordered pasta dinners ($13.95 to $14.95) which included a good sized salad. When we sat down warm bread, butter patties and a bowl of olive oil (with spices & grated cheese - so yummy) was brought. Table was set with white linen and artistically folded crimson napkins The back wall was all windows for a beautiful effect even on a rainy wintry night. The main dining area was also very nice and there was a large flat screen TV with the football game on but it was silent which really was a great idea. You can watch the game and everyone having dinner whether into the game or not can have a nice dinner experience. The small bar is closed - they are working on getting a liquor license. Food did take a little while to come but that's a positive - it's truly cooked to order. The quality is what you expect at a much higher priced place. We had a truly elegant dinner in a wonderful environment with a great waiter and delicious food at moderate pricing - is there anything better? Whatever problems were reported earlier have certainly been corrected and I got the feeling that there is a new owner now. Go to this restaurant. You will love it. read more

This has quickly become our favorite date night restaurant. We have never had a bad meal or experience. Usually there is a Frank Sinatra-esque radio station playing for Italian feel. There is one waiter who treats us like family. They have a full bar. My boyfriend has some food allergies so they are always accommodating. I love the cavatelli and broccoli. They also have some delicious desserts! The restaurant side is very small and intimate.
