This coffee shop is such a hidden gem! From the outside, one side of the building doesn't have a window, but don't let that stop you--just around the corner, the huge windows invite you in. Inside, it feels so warm and welcoming, with community posters, teas, and local products that make it feel truly special. The staff were absolutely wonderful--so kind and attentive, bringing out our food with care and making us feel right at home. The sandwich was delicious, the coffee was comforting, and the tea with fresh strawberry was so refreshing. We even enjoyed browsing a few books while waiting. This place is for darn sure NOT CLOSED. Whilst cruising by in Oak Park, I saw this place OPEN. Seriously. I try to support small businesses, but when I came by this place on two different occasions, they were closed. I don't know what happened, but on my Apple Maps, it's says this place opens at 6am and closes at 6pm. On a different occasion, it was 1pm when I drove by. I accepted it and hoped there would be another time. A person came out and told me they closed by 1. They could at least update their hours on Yelp or Maps. Then on a second occasion (which was a few weeks later), I drove by when it was 12pm, making sure to catch it in time before they closed. Unfortunately, they were closed. I ultimately gave up. Now, just today, it's OPEN! I didn't go inside because I really just gave up and I didn't think it was really worth it to try it a 3rd time. I have my limits when it comes to supporting small businesses. At least, the kindest thing they could do for themselves is update their Yelp and their Maps. Don't fool everyone out here and make them waste their time. I really wish I'd rate this place 0 stars just for being inconsistent, but Yelp forces me to give a 1 generous star. read more

We loved our stop here today!! The best part about our stop was 100% the service. The barista was engaging and offered us more info about the drinks before we ordered. My boyfriend ordered a vanilla horchata latte, and the only he didn't enjoy was that it was a bit too sweet for his liking. I ordered the London fog latte and it was delicious - just the right amount of creamy and flavorful. I also ordered the fire side immunity shot which was like a kick in the pants!! Had jalapeños and apple cider vinegar in it and, unlike some of those cider vinegar drinks, it was tasty enough to sip on (although quite spicy). A hidden gem in Sacramento! The service is superb, the food (particularly the bagels) is the best I've ever had, and the drinks are incredibly tasty. Some highlights: The Asiago Bagel: 10000/10. Truly the best bagel I've had - it was crispy and flavorful, yet soft on the inside. I dream about this bagel. The Lava Cake Tea Latte: 100/10. I had the opportunity to try a sample and while I was deeply hesitant, I ended up being pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Unfortunately I did not get a chance to try a full sized version but I plan to go back and try it. Mocha: 1000/10. It is on the sweeter side but I loved that about it. It had a bit of cinnamon which complimented the chocolate! They use oat milk in all their drinks which is *chef's kiss*! Great for all the folks like me, who are allergic to nuts! Service: 1000000/10. WOW. I didn't get a chance to catch the man's name, but he was the sole person working at the time. He made drinks, food, and still found time to visit with customers and bus tables. He was so kind and warm, truly a joy. This place reminds me of a big city hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. On a Sunday morning, my boyfriend and I walked over to Broadway Coffee to grab a cup of coffee and a small bite to eat. It was one of those places we had driven by a thousand times and never stopped in. The quaint coffee shop offers both indoor and (limited) outdoor seating. They serve Temple Coffee - classic coffee, lattes, etc. They also serve small bites to eat like quiche, scones, bagels, croissants, and even a breakfast burrito. I ordered a latte with almond milk (they don't Up-charge for milk substitutes) and an egg and feta croissant. My boyfriend got a black coffee and a bacon and cheddar scone. My biggest qualm (and the reason I didn't give this spot 5 stars): right after we paid full-price for our croissant and scone, they placed the exact same items on a plate and labeled them "Day old pastries, $1". What?! You literally just charged us full price for these exact same items! (Which cost us like $8). Anyways, just seemed a little unfair. Leo is an expert when it comes to tea and coffee and the flavors that he can make are unmatched when it comes to any other tea/coffee shop in the area. There are flavors that I didn't even know existed! The ambiance is matched with the service and Leo knows everybody's name that walks through that door. If he doesn't know you today he will by tomorrow. The vibe is chill all of the time and you may be able to catch some cool plants being propagated in the area depending on the time of year that you're there. There are multiple reasons why I gave Broadway coffee a high rating: -Ample parking around the shop -Very clean interior -Neighborhood vibe with a good amount of seating but still feels cozy -Good selection of non dairy options including coconut milk (yay for me!) -Friendly and patient service -Best of all, they are dog friendly (as long as your pooch is house trained, isn't noisy or bothersome, etc.) I got a coupon from News and review ($10 of product for $5) and was looking forward to trying this local shop. I love the feel of the place. My sister's mocha was good and I liked my chai as well. My favorite chai in Sac may be Old Soul, and this one isn't as flavor forward, but I would order it again. I also tried their coconut cream dessert which is vegan, and included raspberries on top. The dessert was tasty too. Not much outside seating, but as long as I can bring my dog in, that's a non issue for me. I will definitely be back. read more

I challenge you to find a place with more hustle than this place. I challenge you to find a place with more forethought than this place. It's gonna be hard. Talk about a community staple. This place is small but mighty in what they do. Coffee - sure there's some. Tea - there's a whole lot (so much great stuff). Some locally made health conscious foods - you bet. But what you really can't escape here is the amount of HEART here. Leo is welcoming and warm and such a great person to just chat with. He has a smile that greets you that can't be beat, and he is so incredible at converting genuine care in his customers. When I first went there I observed how he had so many regulars that came in; he knew all their names, he knew about their lives. And he did it all while working a line man that morning. The next time I went, he called my name when I walked in and made me feel like one of those regulars. You can't get that at Starbucks. Know what you can get at other places? All the sugar and gluten dominant treats. Sure they have their place, but broadway coffee ain't it. They really work to be conscious of all those things they stock and make. It's quite refreshing. And while we talk about refreshing - don't forget their teas if you're smart. I came in with congestion, asked for a recommendation and they mixed teas on the spot for me that were amazing (classy hippie tea!) I highly recommend stopping by and at least scooping up a couple ounces of one (or more!) of their mixes. It's legit. The only downside - parking. Some days it's easy, some it's not. You gotta work around funky old awkward streets but it could be worse. And it's not their fault Sacramento is weird. What is their fault? The place is just too damn good. Stop on in. I was in serious need of a good cup of java and happened to be in the hood so I took a chance and stopped here. The espresso is delish with a bold chocolaty finish...an instant eye opener. And the apricot walnut bars are simply deeeevine...sigh... Added bonus in 3 words: Location...location...location... Broadway coffee is located on Broadway just a hop skip and jump from the intersection of the 99 fwy, the Bus 80/ 50 fwy, and the I-80. With parking on Broadway or the 2 side streets which flank this house it's an easy in and out place to hit on your way to work. Or on those days when you are in a crazed rush and realize you're out of coffee and have no food in the fridge...right?!?! The Environment is pleasing to the eye. The walls are painted in flat white yet they are eclectically decorated with cheery exotic paintings commissioned by local artists. The exposed aluminum air ducts, suspended from the ceiling provide an interesting point of conversation as does the design on their custom tees. The T-shirt design, by the way, is a silkscreen from the owner's "graffiti art" style writing. Coffee, art, and eclecticism. A trifecta of perfection indeed! read more

I am a fan of this place in terms of the ambience, the diverse community that comes and lingers here, and the dedication to being a coffee shop not focused on being trendy like some of its neighbors. The coffee has always been good as well as the breakfast burritos they have. What is a bit of a letdown is that they have begun closing (at least from what I was told by an employee) at 2pm on Friday's (and probably in general). Before this, one of the employees would also start to, as bluntly as possible, shooo folks aways before the closing time of 5 (which, according to this website and prior times being there used to be 6). As someone who works a 7-3 roughly on Fridays sometimes ending my day at this place has been much needed especially when meeting friends. I can understand being a small business in high price Sacramento and all sorts of things that go along with that...what I can't stand is the constant change of hours and the feeling as if I am a burden to employees who are ready to go home (even when one helps to clean the area and tip). Once again, just the reality of people trying to make ends meet but it sure doesn't feel nice when you also are trying to make ends meet at least via the social community elements that such a grand place produces. Not sure if I'll be going there again anytime soon nor meeting friends there, as well. read more

I'm not a big coffee drinker, but my office introduced me to Broadway Coffee as a spot to check out when you need to take a break, get some caffeine or grab a snack....and you know, have one on one meetings cause it's work. But the reason for my review is the savory turnover. As a vegan, I'm generally disappointed with vegan snack options at coffee shops, and have tossed out many baked goods after a first bite, but that cream cheese turnover with spinach was awesome. Not only was it not a sweet treat, but it was actually good. Yes, the bar is low. I often take what I can get, but it's nice when a place puts in the effort to make sure the vegan option isn't just some garbage that allows them to check off a box that says they have vegan options*. *As stated, I'm not a big coffee drinker and haven't been in Sacramento very long so I don't know what other coffee shops offer or if their vegan options are in fact garbage. But as someone who has lived in and visited a number of cities and tried many different vegan coffee shop options, in general...they are garbage. read more

Cutest coffee shop find! Was in town for family event last weekend and needed a strong dose of caffeine before hitting the road home. Was greeted by barista and cashier. Ordered a large drip, med cold brew mixer (?), and two breakfast quesadillas. The cashier seemed new or a bit overwhelmed, so was a tad slow to serve food. No sweat at all! It was their friendly demeanor, constant communication on wait and free upgrade on my iced beverage that made the wait a non issue. Not necessary- but, THANK YOU for the upgrade :) The quesadillas were huge and could've shared just one. They were also delicious- very clear to be freshly prepared. I was in town and looking for a coffee shop to get some work done. I read the reviews for this place and decided to give it a shot. First of all, the service was amazing. The girl helping behind the counter was super sweet and helped me choose what drink to get since it was my first time at their coffee shop. There's also a man who seems like the owner. He seemed very casual and comfortable and it's as if there are many regular here who he knows by name and asks them for updates on what they're up to. His voice reminds me a little of Anthony Bourdain, that deep tone. They both seem very nice and genuine. I got the cold brew shaker which was great. They have soy milk as their only milk alternative but I guess something is better than nothing. I would have liked almond milk. Their blueberry muffin wasn't bad either. Awesome customer service!!! I walked in to be greeted by 2 great people. Jimmy & Carmen. They've been open for 6 weeks and have already won me over. As soon as I walked in Jimmy was personable & friendly, gave me a high 5 because of my shirt (Raiders!!!). Anyways the place definitely fits into Oak Park, you walk into a tiny door and have fresh pastries to your right. It's a large space with a ton of potential. I ordered a Soy Iced White Mocha.
