I purchased the coconut shrimp and scallops - an entree that was 35 dollars and for that I received: 2 coconut shrimp, 2 scallops, about a tablespoon of seasonal vegetables, and what appeared to be 4 cups of rice. The appetizers were no better when we ordered the arugula and prosciutto - which ended up being 5 handfuls of arugula and genuinely the smallest serving of prosciutto I have ever seen in my life. The crab dip appetizer was just okay, but my cocktail was both delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight of the evening was definitely the dessert--the toffee cake was amazing! 10/10 recommend it if you go. Service was absolutely horrible. Waitstaff was incredibly rude, asked to take our appetizers 4 times as we still eating, asked group who wanted boxes while some were still eating. Cleared plates around those stool eating too. We were a group of 12, with reservations, and were told the table was reserved for us for 2 hours. The tried to rush us out within an hour. There were only two other parties in the whole restaurant so I have no idea why. Also added a 20% tip without telling us. I assumed a tip would be added but they did not tell us. For starters, we had some mozzarella sticks, just because we were starving and they sounded good. They were good, because fried cheese, but nothing crazy; just mass-produced type of deal. The cocktails were tremendously good! Had a few of those, and both of which were quite good. For dinner, we had scallops and the shrimp and grits. The scallops were well cooked and delicious! The real winner was the shrimp and grits, though! absolutely tremendous! one of the best servings of shrimp and grits i've ever had. wanted to lick the plate when i was done! a little bread would've been good to wipe up the remaining sauce. And this place actually was not that expensive, which was nice! I don't know the area overly well, but it honestly feels like a hidden gem. We read the reviews and thought we'd give the Broken Plate Kitchen. While there was plenty of parking and the hostess staff members were delightful, we were only quickly greeted by our waiter, and saw him minimal the rest of the time we were there ( intro with drink order, food order, and check at end - our food was delivered by someone else). We have 11-month old twins, and although we understand that maybe it was felt they were doing us or others a favor by placing the four of us in the bar area (by ourselves) and not in the main dining area with everyone else, it felt as if we were disregarded and not appreciated. Our twins are really well behaved, so to assume they wouldn't be was pretty shameful (if that was the case). We watched other parties come in and be sat with the "main diners" as we continued to be ignored, and not even be asked how our meal was. Disappointed. read more

My wife had the mahi mahi tacos with a glass of wine. I had the mahi fish sandwich. My kids had grilled cheese and cheese burger. Everyone was pleased with their meals. My cut of fish was massive, well seasoned and the slaw really added a nice topping. Prices were not outrageous. Four meals, an app, and a glass of wine came out to $100. The service and ambience were amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and the wait staff were really friendly. The location of the restaurant did not match the ambience. Initially we were the only people there as it first opened, but soon the place was flooded with people and it got busy very quickly. The service was great and the server was very attentive. Most of the food we tried was delicious. We especially loved the crab dip, and my friend really enjoyed the pasta with scallops. I appreciate places that have good mocktail options and this place was definitely one of them. Their smoky old fashion was a hit! I have mixed feelings about our visit, and would potentially come back to give it another chance. We went out with the whole family (9 total, kids and adults), and we saw that they did take reservations but opted to see what the walk-in availability was, as all of the reservation time slots were open online. Immediately from when we walked in, the 2 people at the front counter were stand-offish and didn't seem too happy that we didn't have a reservation. Eventually we got seated, and got basic drinks from one of the ladies who sat us. Our waiter came over shortly after, who made us feel welcome, explained the specials, and clarified about the check being split into groups or one check. No issues with the waiter, he kept up with checking in and refills, and was friendly and helpful with questions. The food was pretty bland, even the jerk chicken, which honestly was a little over powering with just straight spice and no other flavors. The kids meals with chicken tenders, burgers and fries were all really good, and even some of the adults shared the kids meals too!
