We walked in and the atmosphere was nice but the size was very small. We were seated immediately and placed our orders. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my wife ordered the chicken sandwich and my kids ate the french fries with chicken strips. The prices on the menu were inflated but we were hungry so we just ordered our food. The food came out pretty fast and was hot and fresh. My wife liked her chicken sandwich and the kids like the french fries and chicken tenders. My shrimp and grits however was lackluster. It lacks flavor and was spicy. I do like spicy food and I don't mind Spicy shrimp and grits but the grits were definitely not flavorful. They were very bland and it seemed like the spice was covering up the flavor of the grits. I also had the crab soup which was OK but not enough crab in it. We also had mozzarella sticks for an appetizer which was amazing! I have to say they were the best mozzarella sticks I've had in quite a long time. The mozzarella sticks were definitely the star of the show.Overall the meal was OK but nothing to write home about. read more

Tried for the first time because the kids wanted the milkshakes. We got lunch - not one of us (7 of us) had a bad meal - everyone loved their food. Amazing Caribbean Flare! Ate here while on vacation in the OBX and made a last minute reservation, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Dinning room is a little small so don't try to walk up unless you're ready to wait, but it IS worth the wait. Jerk Chicken wings had an amazing kick and beautiful flavor. The seared diver scallop appetizer was packed full of incredible flavor, sweet, salty, smoky, just a beautifully rounded dish. Had the coconut shrimp and scallops as my entree and it was very good. The food here is FANTASTIC!! We loved everything we got and would highly recommend the shrimp and grits, coconut shrimp and scallops, wings and strawberry shortcake bubble waffle! Our waiter was amazing and helped make our experience a lot of fun. Only drawback is that the restaurant space leaves much to be desired... The food and pricing are more mid to high end fare whereas the restaurant space suggests a more low to mid range bar atmosphere. The tables were very cramped and we were consistently bumped or needing to move ourselves by passing patrons or waiters. This restaurant would be one of the best in the area if they just rethought the dining room layout and upgraded their decor, furniture, etc to match the phenomenal food and beverages. read more

Had breakfast here our first day in the OBX. Breakfast tacos and Crab cakes Benedict were fantastic. The crab cakes were generous with sweet crab meat and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. As an additional side, the grits were also on point. The chocolate chip pancakes were double thumbs up from our kiddos, too. read more

Food was not good. Fish and chips were dry and tasteless and served with tarter sauce in plastic cups were you peel the top to open. At least put it in a ramekin or small stainless cup for presentation. Chicken tenders were over cooked and rubbery and crab legs were terrible with movie theater style butter on the side . This is the first poor review that I have ever left. The one star rating is not accurate because Yelp would not let me use zero stars or negative stars.We had the rudest waitress in 45 years of eating at an establishment. Be sure to read the menu well. We were seated before 4pm and the menu has different sides for some meals after 4pm than before 4pm. After problems with the food we were served, our waitress never came back. We had to get our check from another waitress. I can only hope they go out of business. We will NEVER be back ! read more

Party of five stopped here on 9/14/22 ordered breakfast. 3 people received their food. The other two waited and waited, finally asked where the food was. Waitress didn't know as they use a food runner. They bring out one more dish gave it to the wrong person then took it back to give to the right person. The fifth person was told they missed the order, within seconds they returned with a dish that she did not order and then were angry when she wouldn't accept it. As the other members of the party had finished eating she told the waitress never mind she didn't want anything , however didn't not want to pay for the coffee. The waitress came back and said they would not comp the coffee and if she didn't pay for it the waitress would have to. We asked for the manager and she refused to come over. We did pay for the coffee. Two wrongs don't make a right. read more

Decided to pop by for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint! The Rasta pasta was amazing! Their drinks were also delicious! We went to The Broken Plate last night for the first time -- had a couple appetizers and drinks. The wings were crispy, well-seasoned and delicious, and the seared scallops with the mango and bacon salsa were outstanding. Owners Anna and Sean are warm and welcoming, making the place feel like home, and Wilson the bartender is friendly and attentive. Can't wait to sample the rest of the menu. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The hostess stand was very inefficient and had a rude demeanor. I was told for my group of 6 that I could be seated outside right away (Still waited 15 minutes to be seated) when she showed us to our table and it was two separate tables that a group of 4 could sit at and then another table could hold 2. We asked if we could at least combine the tables, she said no they had to stay separated. She didn't even apologize for the inconvenience that my group couldn't sit together and she also didn't disclaim that to me initially when I first asked about the wait time for 6. Food is very mediocre, everything was pretty dry. Then they applied an automatic gratuity of 18% because we were a large party even though WE DIDN'T SIT TOGETHER. This place is very poorly managed, and the food is not worth even waiting one minute. read more

We were the first order of the day. We ordered two hot coffees, one with cream and one black. They had to process our payment twice and we waited 35 minutes for this incredibly simple order. Finally, the hostess returned with 2 ICED coffees, one with whipped cream (ew?) and one black. As you can see in the picture, the fresh seasonal fruits were 4 strawberries in a soup cup. This place was absolutely wonderful. The second I walked in the door I was greeted with a friendly welcoming. While my first impression was that it was very tight and small it was surprising open. I came with a family of 15 and there were other people in the restaurant as well and our food still came out in great time. Mind you the food was delicious. I highly recommend the jerk chicken and jerk salmon they make a very good jerk sauce considering I am from Jamaica. All in all this was a wonderful restaurant. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here 2 times while vacationing in Corolla. One time we both got the crab cake sandwich. It was excellent! I took mine off the bun to eat. The flavor and texture was excellent. The 2nd time I got the coconut shrimp and scollops. It was very tasty. My husband got the fish and chips. He said it was very good too. Our waiter wasn't very good that night but it wasn't real bad. The one thing I could say that needs improvement is the dining area. It needs some sprucing up. Small place but it was super busy. We had reservations for 12 of us ladies. Food was awesome and our waitress was very nice. I believe we all had some sort of seafood. My coconut shrimp and scallops were to die for and I loved the sweet spicy Caribbean style dipping sauce that came with it. The she-crab soup was very tasty. First the restaurant was very cold, other tables were complaining too. Had several servers working but once you ordered no one checked back with you for refills or anything. Had to get ketchup, salt and pepper from table beside us. From the reviews we expecting much better food than we received. It was ok but nothing to recommend. Let me begin by saying all the images and pictures on yelp's website is inaccurate. As well, do not go by the Google reviews and they are inaccurate as well. Please please please save your money and go elsewhere. The quality and service is no good. My family came here over the weekend and was displeased. The food quality is absolutely wonderful quality, and the cooks are subpar with little knowledge of culinary food adequacy. Something very peculiar is happening in this business, as there were patrons going in and out- young and old very suspicious not quite sure if they were buying food or something else. This business appears to be untrustworthy. And the service, they act and behave in a manner that makes you feel that you should be so lucky as to dine in the restaurant. Chicken wings were raw, crabcake sandwich that my wife ordered was not of high-quality it was small mushy and wet, and the kids burger was dried to cardboard like level. Beware!
