Sat up at the bar for an 1-1.5 hours as a solo diner reading and enjoying a Golden State Benedict. Food was good but I will not be returning any time soon. Sitting at the bar, I saw many, what I believe to be violations. Milk was already sitting on the counter at the coffee station when I sat and was never returned back to the fridge under the counter once when I left. I saw multiple waitresses take glassware from an empty table, rinse used glassware (no scrubbing or soap) in the handwashing sink, and refill with a different drink, and serve it. I really love this menu and all of the options. So many eggs benedict's to choose from and you can actually choose to have one two types of eggs. Benedict in one order. Food arrived timely and no utensils. Salmon Benedict was perfect, omelette was dry, pancake requested no butter and brought with butter, presentation of food and portions are good. I've lived close by to BYC and this is my first time trying it. I can't believe I've never been here before. The food was great! This was the first time I've had French toast and it was really good. I liked the ball of butter on top and the crispy edges of the French toast. The French toast came with three pieces which was more than enough! The wait staff is wonderful. But the food was just okay and boy did I have sticker shock. Last time I came to this restaurant was about 4 years ago. 2 people eating including tax and tip $69+. That to me was so ridiculous that I won't ever step into the restaurant again. We just each got a meal and a drink. I have been out to breakfast recently and did not pay these high prices but a lot of restaurants are going this way. I make a much better breakfast and my fried potatoes are the bomb. I'm really surprised the overall rating on Yelp is only 3.5 stars. Made me curious on some of the lower ratings. So some ratings said it was pricey here. Maybe for some people, but I always say, you get what you pay for. Maybe price is higher because the quality of food. I would rather pay more for a decent breakfast than pay less for food that is not good. WE have never been disappointed by the food here. Plus you don't get cheated on the portions. I didn't realize that there are so many of these places around the Southern California area and I'm glad for it because it deserves to be tried out. Service was quick and thorough. We luckily came at a time when there was no rush bc literally maybe 20 min after we ordered a rush of people came and people were even waiting outside. The food is basic, a slight notch up of dennys or norms with a Mexican twist on some dishes. My husband loved his ranchero skillet, it was very spicy but had lots of meat. My dad ordered this healthy wrap with egg whites and green tortilla, tasted super bland. The French toast made from Hawaiian bread was kind of good, more on the sweet side but it was a good balance from all the salty main courses. Second time there. A regular sized glass of not great iced tea is now $5!!! Thats simply outrageous and uncalled for. My crunchy chicken sandwich was not a chicken breast as one would think but two chicken patties ( probably frozen) in the bun. My brothers glass of cranberry juice over $6. I have been to a few broken yolks and this one would have to be my most memorable experience yet. Our server name was Natalie, she was very sweet, but not very attentive. My sister and I sat down it took someone over 15 minutes to come and ask for our drinks, than additional 30 to take our food order usually it's not big of a deal and I understand when place is crowded but it wasn't just at all in there. I ordered Bloody Mary flight and they came out warm with no ice not even slightly chilled I had to take ice from my water cup and place in there ( this isn't the biggest issue yet) I ordered sopes egg Benedict and instead of hash browns I asked for French fries. When our food came Natalia said is anything else we responded yes some water please and silverware, then I also mentioned in order fries not hash browns, she professionally responded right ok I'll take back- actually wait let me grab a plate. (Which I was confused as why she had to take my whole plate back for French fries ). She brought plate and had me scoop my hash brown off my current food plate on to this little plate) then she took plate and brought me fries. I couldn't believe it I didn't want the hash browns but that is unbelievable in my opinion. Afterwards we didn't see much and we had flag her down for check we ask for water but she just got the check. I was very disappointed with my overall experience. The restaurant was clean and the reception who checked us out was very nice we told her about our experience and she did give a small and respectable discount . Great breakfast spot! I have visited the one in San Diego location many times before and was excited one came to the IE! Parking is easy (it's in a strip mall). All staff/servers wear masks and the seating is socially distanced. Today, I got the yogurt parfait, hash browns, and a mimosa flight. Everything was fresh and super yummy! The server (Freddy), was very nice, patient and helpful with our selections. The prices are a bit on the high side, but I always enjoy it so much! Can't wait to come back again!! read more
