The atmosphere was lovely, the service excellent, and the food delicious. I had never heard of this place before and I must say I was very impressed.. My boyfriend is very particular about restaurants and he too was very pleased. I told a few friends and they were happy to hear this as they live in the area. One of my friends had been there twice and just loved it. The french toast was wonderful and the coffee was too. I am somewhat of a coffee connoisseur and I know a good coffee when I taste it. Womans Perspective: I had the South Western wrap with potato salad! I gave this place 4 stars because the food wasn't a WOW for me and the server didn't tell us any specials or deals, being that this was our first time here, it would have been nice to know some of them but other than that this was a great saturday morning experience! No wait, the inside is clean and spacious, the food was good and the service was quick and friendly! I plan to visit this place again and try some of their other dishes! The potato salad was super delicious!!! Mans Perspective: The parking lot was somewhat empty around 1:45pm but it kinda made sense I guess, since they close at 3pm. From the outside, it looks like a small place, but when you walk inside, its like walking into Narnia or something, the place is real spacious. I had an omelette called 'The Rancher", which has bacon, home fried potatoes, bell peppers, tomato and green onion, topped with real sour cream. With it, I had fresh fruit, and a blueberry muffin. I was glad everything came out good!, the muffin was definitely not one of them bs muffins you find at the gas station. The omelette was good and hot too. Was hesitant at first to eat breakfast here because our family had such terrible experience and the Broken Yolk in La Costa.. But our visit to the Broken Yolk in Oceanside sure changed it around, and we will be sure to visit more frequently!! Compared to our last visit at the other location, the employees looked more alive and actually happy to be doing their job! We were greeted and seated by a nice young lady, and the young Hispanic boy was already waiting for us to offer us coffee! Do you know how great it is to be seated right away and not have to wait half an hour for a coffee?!.. My sister has a couple health problems and she isn't aloud to eat certain things, our waiter was really understanding and patient when we were asking questions. I ordered the "Mom" omelet, and it was huge! I had enough to take home for lunch! My dad ordered the NY steak and eggs, and said was surprised on how lean and tender the steak was. We waited for our food for no more than 15 minutes, I was surprised how fast we had gotten our food! A young Hispanic boy brought out our food, and he was so kind! I felt bad at first because he kept having to go back to get us a couple things we were asking for, but it was a great that he had such a great attitude! I'm not really sure I understand previous negative reviews of BYC in Oceanside. As a BYC regular in AZ (one restaurant in the Phoenix area), I was a little nervous to eat here because of previous, recent reviews. But we gave it a shot because we love their food, and I'm so glad we did! Our orders included a Good Morning Burger with sweet potato fries and fresh fruit, California Breakfast Burrito, Fiesta Burrito and a kid's pancake meal with sausage. The burger was as good as ever. The sweet potato fries were good, but did border on a little too salty (the only mild complaint I had and even then it wasn't mentioned to the waiter). The side of fruit consisted of fresh pineapple and strawberries, which was very good. Both burritos received thumbs up (the orderer of Fiesta Burrito wasn't sure he'd enjoy it because of the flood of salsa verde - not appealing visually to him - but was commented it was a very good, tasty burrito). The 2 year old enjoyed her pancake. Top that off with fresh orange juice and you had some happy campers! Restaurant and bathrooms were clean, and wait staff was very nice and attentive. We went in on Sunday morning for a family brunch and we were pleasantly surprised. There were 6 of us and our food all arrived at the same time. The omelets are wonderful, cooked to perfection. One person had a breakfast burritos and said it was one of the best he had ever had. Our server, Jim, was very friendly and efficient. His recommendations on the menu were great. He was so good we had to let his manger know. Managers name is Jim too and also was very friendly. No wonder everyone was so friendly in the restaurant and definitely work well as a team. I went here for breakfast yesterday, 3/14/18. I was waiting for a friend and went I went to sit down on the sofa in the lobby, it was covered in dust! Every seat in the waiting area was dusty! I can't believe that part of the opening procedure isn't to make sure that the lobby is clean and the seats are wiped down. We live in Las Vegas and our daughter is in Oceanside going to school at Miracosta and playing volleyball. We found this place and it has become our weekly tradition while visiting her for volleyball matches. It is the BEST breakfast place we've ever been to and we're from Las Vegas where they have perfected the "breakfast buffet"!! A little hard to get into on weekends, but well worth the 20 min wait! I love this place especially for breakfast it is absolutely delicious, fresh and amazing exactly what I needed to start my morning off. And didn't have to wait for long to get my food and also they sell Mimosa's as well which took up my time for the wait. When the food came out and I was very surprised how large and beautifully decorated each dish was. The biscuits in gravy were absolutely delicious my eggs Benedict also delicious and my friends dish was just as tasteful. I would definitely get the spot another try over and over again that's how good it was. I want to go back and try their French toast since they did look amazing when my friend ordered them. On the way out I realized that the guy from man vs food had stop by that location before and I thought that was really neat so they do step up and truly on the reputation. My family are loyal Broken Yolk guests but that doesn't mean we are always as happy as we were TODAY! We have visited the Gas Lamp location on several occasions, Indian Wells and Palm Springs, today was our first time at the Oceanside location and I felt like a regular! Walked in around 9:30-9:45 on a Saturday (breakfast rush hour) the manager was quick to help me within more than reasonable wait time (to get my name and # in my party) although he had a small line of what seemed to be to go orders. Dexter (who seemed to be the host) was quick on his feet and easy to smile! Loved the energy, big smile and not a drop of frustration in his demeanor even though a large group of athlete girls with their parents walked in wanting to get sat ASAP. From the time we walked, walking us to our table and sitting us down to the second we left the restaurant, Dexter left an impression, your efforts are appreciated and don't go unnoticed Dexter! Our server Thomas!!!! Wish there were a Thomas at every table for every restaurant in Cali. (I'm born and raised Cali and let's not lie it's hard to find effective costumer service practices) The hospitality was unbelievable! From his first greeting to wishing us a blessed week at the end of our meal, hands down the man. He should be training servers all around...he's attentive, attention to detail, checks up on us periodically and he understands. If I could give this place a 0 star I would, I ordered a Moms omelet WITHOUT the alfalfa because my partner is allergic to them and we share our food. I eat into it and it was fine, halfway through I see some specs and sure enough there was a bundle of alfalfa's just at one end of the omelet. We were traveling back to LA from San Diego and did a quick search for good breakfast spots - this was well reviewed and en route. We had a really good experience! The host greeted us and quoted us a 15min wait (which she stuck to, which is amazing on a busy Sunday!) and we got a little two top near the door. Our waitress Carlie was so lovely - she answered our questions about dishes with great knowledge of ingredients and solid suggestions for what we might like. Carlie was so kind and helpful and gave us great service (coffee refills, checking our dishes were satisfactory) even though the place was very busy.
