My husband and I were in Oceanside and decided to stop at this restaurant we saw The Broken Yolk and give it a try. And were we amazed. Its a huge upscale dining experience for breakfast. The place is shiny and clean and the food was LARGE! We ordered omelets and Im a picky eater and they were made to perfection delicious and did I say made with 4 eggs too! They really don"t cut corners here. The service was friendly and professional and the wait staff seemed to want to please in anyway. The waiting area has coffee and muffins and loved the family friendly gesture when I saw the hostess give a child a plastic egg filled with toys. The only drawback??? Broken Yok Oceanside is MY FAV place to eat....and ALL MY PEEPS know it. I love it so much I'm there every weekend! (No Lie) I will start by sayin I originally visited the Oceanside location back in August and soon became a "regular". The food NEVER disappoints and the staff is THE BEST ever! From the busers (sp? is that what they are called? =/), food runners, hosts/hostesses, servers and the new Manager Brian... I LOVE THEM ALL! They all know my daughter and I since they see us weekly. **We are treated like family @ Broken Yolk. Sorry Olive Garden. LOL. FAVORITE SERVER: #1 - Thomas - WOW! This gentleman is amazing... Service CONSISTENTLY with a smile, kindness, desire to ensure our meal and experience is amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME! WE LOVE THOMAS (bring out the pom poms!) Feel free to ask to sit in his area..... you won't be disappointed. =D RUNNERS UP (blue shirts): ALI, AUDREY & KELLY (I believe her name is, if i got this wrong, I'll revise this post)....Anyway, Wonderful ladies who will take great care of you as well. All the other servers are great too, we just arent served by them when Thomas isn't available or off that day. But we think they all ROCK! The gentleman who serve the coffee/drinks (maroon shirts) when you first sit down.... LOVE THEM!! This is by far my #1 choice for Saturday breakfast. Everything that we've ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. If you're an early riser and can make it in before 8, the meal deals are great and the servings are, as usual; more than adequate. The recipes have changed for the better. Holidaize sauce is delicious, the muffins are nice and fluffy, and the omelets are huge and beautifully good, the crepes are also good size and the crepes themselves taste good and filling. Fast and friendly service, interesting menu with lots of variety, and good food. Came here on a Monday around 11:00, and we got our food within 10 minutes of arrival. The portions were fairly large, and I liked the crunchiness of the hash browns. Our server was very efficient, and asked us if we'd like to split the bill without us needing to make the request. My wife and I had breakfast at BYC in Oceanside this morning. Molly was our server and the service was fast, friendly and accurate. The food itself was excellent, was received quickly and at the proper temperatures. I had a small issue with the bill as I had a coupon. Had brunch here this morning. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs, and my mom had the No Name omelette, with Swiss cheese. (The no name does not come with cheese normally) The chicken fried steak was alright. The gravy was nice. The blueberry muffin was warm and soft and melts in your mouth. Best part of the meal. The omelette seems to have been much better than the steak. The hash browns were cooked well, and were delicious topped with ketchup. What really made the meal most enjoyable was Allison. Food took forever. Everyone around us got their food, so it wasn't the kitchen. We could tell our server Molly didn't put the order in, but didn't admit it, just kept saying "your food is taking a while". We came here to have breakfast since it wasn't far from a location we were shopping at that day. It looked real busy but had a nice lively environment as we were being seated. The waitress was awesome and attended rather reasonably even though she was working many other tables. My wife had the corned beef hash plate, her grandma had I believe, the pork sliders, and I had the American burger with fries. My plate tasted really good with the meat being cooked just as I had ordered it. The fries were also crispy with not a lot of salt, which is a good thing in my opinion. My wife's grandmother's plate looked good as well and she said it also tasted well (she is a chef and has her own restaurant). When my wife's corned beef plate came, it wasn't cooked enough to her liking so the waitress had another plate made promptly. The next plate that came was good so my wife was happy. The Broken Yolk Cafe is a decent restaurant to go to if you are looking for good quality breakfast and good service. Definitely consider this place over places like Denny's or Ihop.
