I went to Broken Yolk in Buena Park with a group of 6 on a Sunday morning. It was wonderful. Fast, friendly, and yumm! I was expecting this one to be as good. Unfortunately it was completely opposite. Inattentive, rude staff and the food was yuk. They never asked if everything was okay, even though I left my plate almost full. Some pancakes and bacon/sausage for my son and I got the new York steak and eggs with crispy hashbrowns We ended up tossing the food and running to the store to buy eggs to make our own breakfast. Wanted to treat ourselves and ended up getting a ashy tasting steak, mushy hashbrowns, and a very rubbery pancake. I've came here before and it was pretty good. So I'm very disappointed I spent so much money on the food for it to be disgusting. I even tried to put a sauce on my steak to help so I wouldn't waste. But no. Broken yolk cafe has been a favorite restaurant of mine. Fueling up before my hike,I decided to stop in here for breakfast. When you check in on yelp, you get 15% off your bill. Great way to start off the morning! No wait and your food comes out quick. My waitress was cheerful and very nice! After changing my mind several times, I decided on their border Benedict. Two poached eggs over sweet corn cakes, on a bed of carne asada. The poached eggs had seasoned poblano sauce. I chose my sides of rice and retried beans. Delicious! It was so good that I had my best friend come back with me to eat it again!! They have a lot of delicious menu items that I'd love to try! Amazing covid proof breakfast with my bestie this morning. James was a fantastic server gave us plenty of time to enjoy the morning together. I had my favorite waffle sandwich which is basically a waffle with scrambled eggs wit cheese and bacon and a side of fruit. (Other side option available) my friend was able to get a la Cart order and it came out perfect. The tables were a safe distance apart and parties were scattered as seated. Staff wore masks & gloves and hand sanitizer was out for all. They've added parking lot seating as well as they have an actual patio. Stopped by on a Sunday morning around 8:30am. By the time we sat down and ordered the place was packed. So glad we got in before the crowd. All of the food is so filling. Kid menu items were a great deal. French toast with 2 sausage links and 1 scrambled egg and oj $7. My jack of hearts omlete was super filling. I couldn't finish. Artichoke hearts, bacon and jack cheese...such a great combo. (I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day) When we left we looked the other tables, so many good choices. My friend and I have been eating breakfast here nearly weekly since February. We've yet to be disappointed. We always custom order our dishes -- which have become "the usual" to our favorite server, Naio. Naio cheerfully brings steamed milk for my friend, keeps my cup full and hot, meticulously takes our orders and practically curates our dishes on delivery. Naio deserves 5 stars on his own. Disappointing. The place was very busy, had a good atmosphere, and people were very polite. The menu has some great looking options, too. But the food is really overpriced, the menu descriptions are misleading, and execution is just lacking in many ways. I got the "stuffed" french toast, which was supposed to include mascarpone, bananas, caramel sauce, etc. I saw no mascarpone, but I suspect it was used like butter, a small bit melted on the toast. There was a bit of caramel drizzled on, and some over-ripe bananas. It was not "stuffed" at all, but rather they just put the toppings between two slices of french toast, as if using the term was an excuse to provide only 1/2 the toppings. That was $15. I made it a combo for an extra $5 so I could get two eggs and bacon. The bacon was good, but only two thin short slices were served. The two eggs were cooked until they crumbled, as though a 4-year old was cooking eggs for the first time. They were dry and lacking any flavor. No butter. To drink I had chocolate milk, and although the glass looked cool, it did not hold a lot and the milk was lukewarm. I ordered a second glass of chocolate milk, hoping for better results. Nope. It was worse. The second glass had maybe half the chocolate the first had. I could barely taste the chocolate. My daughter ordered the Nutella crepes, and shared my disappointment with the bananas. The crepes were just really thin pancakes, but not thin enough to be crepes. And then the cockroach. I was more entertained than grossed out, because the roach kept crawling over the back of the booth between two tables, causing the occupants to stand up, wave their arms, and cringe in animated disbelief. But I can't overlook the health implications here. If the staff weren't so nice, I'd give this place zero stars. But the people I interacted with were great. Just not enough to get me to spend my whole wallet on a disappointing meal again. read more

Our server was Gabriel and he was so friendly and gave us amazing service! The best part was the food. The quality of the food here at the broken yolk Café is very high and so incredibly delicious.
