I'd never heard of this place prior to eating here. We scoped out the menu and it looked promising. All 5 of us tried something different from the menu. Unfortunately, we did not like it. I had the chilequiles bowl with chicken, eggs and topped with green sauce. The flavor was off. Mainly due to the sauce that had a strong metallic taste (probably due to the sauce being canned). My wife had the skillet, and like my meal, it just lacked any flavor whatsoever. One of my kids had the sweet trio. She said the French toast was amazing but that the cinnamon pancake was ruined due to copious amounts of powder cinnamon. My other two children express the same about their plates (biscuits and gravy and breakfast burrito). With so many places to eat in Orange, this place doesn't stand out. Surprising not busy for an Holiday afternoon. Seated right away. Every order was wrong. Asked for the moms omelette w diced ham and mozzarella. Order only had mozzarella and no ham. They gave me some hard mozzarella and diced ham on the side due to error after digging half way through to see if the ham was on one side of the omelette. Ordered a full stack got a short stack. I went there for breakfast with my wife for breakfast. The decor was nothing fancy much like a Denny...clean, well maintained but nothing over the top. We were seated right away. There was a loud family party that was a bit loud and we should of asked to sit outside. The booths were huge, almost cavernous and the bathrooms were clean. They had outside dining in the back of the restaurant that looked comfortable and shady. The service was excellent and our server, Cesar, kept coming over to check on us, refill our coffee and water. I had the machaca plate and my wife had the hash skillet dish. Both were huge breakfast portions and well plated. If I had one complaint it was that both dishes were not well seasoned...I kept adding salt and pepper. Also, they gave me flour instead of corn tortilla and sent it back. What a cool spot! It's like Dennys + 2 levels :). Upon arrival we noticed super inviting entrance and on point "Broken Yolk" logo! Inside we were greeted by a lady with platinum blond bleached hair with pink additions! Very refreshing and she looked super! It was almost empty and we got very cozy spot. Seating we heard laughter from the kitchen or front area. I mean LAUGHTER. So contagious for like 5 minutes we were laughing to God knows for what reason haha. When waitress came we mentioned that to her and congratulated a good energy in the place. Menu was extensive with plenty of healthy and not so healthy choices. I got split Egg Benedict duo the one with veggies and other one with sopa where meat I substituted with beyond sausage. My husband got a Greek Omelette. Ever was fresh and pretty good but portions were huge haha. I ate like half of everything :p. We also got soy milk latte and a tea. One thing I truly hated and a TIP to management/owners. Change tea kettles that you serve in. Plastic with hot temperatures is so unhealthy. I could taste the plastic in my tea... use stainless steel or glass. I almost took a star out for it. Delicious! Ordered the Sope Benedict with black beans and coffee. This dish is jam packed with flavors. The salsa was just enough spice and the black beans just highlighted all the flavors. I was pretty disappointed with the food here. I got to try the Border Benedict and the fall pancakes flight with a side of scrambled eggs and bacons. The Benedict was flavorful and the carne asada was well seasoned. But the poached eggs were cold which was kind of gross and unappetizing. I've been to the second location in Costa Mesa and couldn't stop raving about the food there. Came here and I was very disappointed -not much to rave about. Friday morning and lots of empty tables -sticky tables to mention. Ordered breakfast burrito, banana creme French toast, and chicken + waffles. The breakfast burrito was not worth $12. The burrito itself was bland and the green salsa verde sauce tasted horrible. I ate half of it before I decided to to-go it and add my own touches to it at home. I tried the banana french toast and was dismayed. Bland as well. So basically, 2 slices of bread with creme and bananas in the middle. For $13? This was DEFINITELY not worth it. What a SMALL portion! My friend was also disappointed when she saw this plate. Can't say anything about the chicken waffle since I didn't bother trying that dish. When it came time to order, I notified the server that I wanted to use the Yelp check-in for 10% off. I had already checked in when I sat down but when I tried to show the server the offer being marked "used," that particular red page was unable to load. Obviously, the business account page is already up and he can SEE me trying to open the offer and it's just getting awkward. Like, I'll mark the offer as used, I don't see why I wouldn't. But he's just standing there watching and I'm getting annoyed. My friend opens her Yelp app and says she got a notification for my check-in and will mark the offer. We've been here several times and the food and service are always on point. Today, the service was so disappointing. Our party of 6 dined in the patio at about 11am on a Sunday. The waiter appeared to be rushed as he was taking our order. It took quite a while to get our beverages. He dropped my coffee off and I had to wait 7 minutes for cream. (I actually timed it). I asked for a refill and it never came. The restaurant was not crowded so I'm not really sure what the issue was. He made us all feel like he didn't want to be there. Food was still good though. The waiters and waitresses are always accommodating and this last time I put our name on the call ahead wait list and showed up at the wrong location!! So we unintentionally made this location our "go-to" breakfast spot. :) Our server was Manny and he was just a delight! Worth the wait? Yes if you're getting pancakes from this place! The crowd outside may deter you from coming here or might make you think "wow, this place MUST be good!" And it is. But I highly suggest coming in a smaller group since it'll be easier to sit faster. If you don't mind waiting long if you're in a large group then I still think it's worth the wait. We ordered the Mimosa flight first along with a couple coffees. My favorite from the flight was the lemonade mimosa and least face would be the grapefruit. I'm just not a grapefruit fan. The food came next. We decided to split a short stack of pancakes (no extras on top) as well as the Hash Skillet. The perfect amount for two hungry adults. All the hash skillet needed was some ketchup and salsa on top. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and cooked perfectly. Not burned but with a nice crisp on the edge. Manny, our waiter, was excellent. My sister described this as a better version of Denny's and honestly, it was quite a delight! Their French toast is amazing and I did try their Monte Cristo which is a French toast ham and Swiss sandwich. That filled me up easily. Their matcha latte was delicious as well and very sweet! Food was mediocre at best. The lines are long so there must be something good but unfortunately the soupes I ordered were nasty.

Let me sun this one up for you if you haven't been here before. The meals are better than average. The drinks are more than expected, but the service has always been excellent. They don't have a full bar but they do have a decent amount of beers and mimosas. It's California. I like a beer on a Sunday morning with a spicy skillet so don't judge me. I like the southwest skillet but i always get the Serrano peppers on the side because if i let them toss them in.. I'm dying and no amount of beer can drown that burn. I also like the deal they have on breakfast burritos to go. It's basically a sampler of breakfast burritos for like 30 bucks and it works out it like 8 or 10 halves. Super good. Water down cappuccinos x2 even the 2nd replacement cup was still the same....scrambled eggs that's as pale as a ghost and you can tell it was an imitation egg not a real egg.... We didn't ask for egg whites either just to clarify! I still gave 2 stars just for the Nutella crepe we ordered.... It was good! Me going back for what the price I pay for?? NO THANK YOU!I will stick to the old time NORMS been here and ate and never again! Not a resto to recommend....
