Decent service but an overstimulating environment with sdsu swag everywhere, an entire sdsu team there at 830am and horrible food. Scrambled eggs, sausages, and hash browns is an easy consistent dish. Always hits a 7/10. But when your eggs are from a carton, your sausages are plump, your hash brown portion is 1/3 of what you get from dennys, and your bill is $70 for that, + a Coffee, another meal and 1 pancake for the kid? It's been along time since I have had Broken yolk... my daughter had a tour at SDSU and we saw this location and decided to get breakfast. We were all excited... when we weren't seated, we knew something changed. Unfortunately, this location is very different from the sit down locations. Service was very fast, that's a plus but the quality is along the lines of a Dennys. The music is very loud and Decor is like a sports bar. The inside of this place is pretty cool. It's just a different layout than what you're used to. The food itself is decent. It's a very basic get it done type of breakfast. Looks like regular broken yolk Resturant from the street, but get inside and it's more like a cross between Mac Donald and an elementary grade school cafeteria. Order at the register, self serve coffee, loud obnoxious music playing through a PA system. AND, you get called to come pickup your own food on a tray! All for just $24+tip which I would not have included if I'd realized there's no server to tip. It's just inflating an already exorbitant meal price. Food is mediocre at best. Designed and executed as an example of corporate efficiency at the expense of any aesthetic or appreciation of the diner who paid for this experience. You can see how the point is to get you in on a promise of a breakfast diner and then process you quickly through the order, (no talking-keep the line moving we have quantity to process here). And I would expect on the weekdays when students are headed for class their volume may be higher, but this Sunday morning when I was expecting a pleasant breakfast, needless to say, I am disappointed and pledge that they have gotten my one and only purchase. And one last thing, after charging like a Resturant for this "experience", they want me clear my table! Boy, feeling the fool here today. Positive: good food, good WiFi, comfortable seating. BUT... I hate anything bait and switch. Twice today I clicked the 10% tip (my standard for places where I order at the counter and clear my own plates) and was charged much more. One bill was $10.95 before tax and $11.80 after tax so even if I'm tipping on the tax (don't like) why does the automatic tip button add $1.97 to the bill!? 10% of the before tax amount is $1.10 and 10% of the gross bill is $1.18 so at best I was overcharged by $0.87 on this small bill. My go-to is either the avocado toast for breakfast or the chicken caesar wrap with sweet potato fries for lunch/dinner---this is AMAZING. I also love the messy caramel latte! The vibes are always so good, they have a photo booth which my friends and I love, and the staff is always so nice. The owner, "Pretty Boy Roy", is amazing and so energetic!! He gave me two stickers! I order the same thing every time. 2eggs'hasbrowns' cook on both sides,biscuit & gravey .It seems that hashbrowns are very had to cook on both side because the cooks at broken yoke can't seem to be able just to flip over my hash browns,Well yesterday I went to broken yoke my server was the head sever ,she said to me let me guess you want 2 eggs hash browns. Very unique non-full service restaurant and our first time at this SDSU location. There is a parking structure behind, catty-corner, from the restaurant that allows up to 30 min free parking. I believe our dine-in experience was 45 minutes and we paid $1, which isn't too bad. We ordered the Belgian waffle, eggs Benedict and breakfast burrito. My son loved the Belgian waffle and I think finished before the rest of us. My eggs Benedict was fresh and delicious, and I ordered hashbrowns which were okay. I would've liked it a bit more crisper. The breakfast burrito with hasbrowns was just "ok" according to my SO, as it was not as flavorful even after adding cholula. The inside was clean and fully stocked, they serve beer and drinks as well, which we didn't order this time around. Definitely a place to grab a bite if you are around SDSU and hungry. Maybe some menu items are better than others. Staff was friendly and waited while we browsed the order. Business was brisk & with new ownership, management (Roy, Nick, Billy) & staff took the time to meet & greet students & other eaters. When we went it was around 7 pm and right after a basketball game so it got busy. I ordered the burger plate thatel comes with fries and a drink for $12. My friend ordered the crunchy french toast with a side of sausage and eggs. Her crunchy french toast looked and smelled so good! Since I'm lactose intolerant I couldn't try it, but I'm taking her word for it that was delicious! As for my burger it was ok. Fancy burger bun with the patty, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Nothing extra. But I will say they do have a good deal on the mimosa flight for $5.95. read more

The English muffin for my Benedict had not been toasted, and it was cold when I got it. The mushy English muffin and cold egg (which was extremely runny for a poached egg) were a bit nauseating, so I mostly ate the home fries. They were decent. My son's hash browns, at least, were delicious, but his matcha latte tasted strange. We've eaten at this chain a few times, and my son describes it as "kind of the same as IHOP but more expensive." Not worth the money, and I think after three times (here and El Cajon), we're going to give up. Perhaps due to the college location there was essentially no service. They gave you a number then called it with a bullhorn if you were outside, rather than bring it out. Seems like the guy with the bullhorn could have brought out the food. read more

However, the food and wait time was extremely underwhelming. I ordered the Avocado Toast but all I could taste was the bread; the egg yolk and avocado itself had barely any seasoning or flavor which made me really disappointed.
