Stopped by on our way out of Galveston at around 9:15 a.m. on a Saturday. The place was packed but the service was super fast and very friendly. We both had the barbacoa burritos with beans, cheese and pico -YUM! Tortillas were the real deal and the pico packed a nice punch. Prices were super cheap too! This place was great! The customer service was impeccable and the burritos were absolutely delicious as well as extremely filling. The salsa they give as a side has a bit of a kick to it which is something I genuinely appreciate. If you are coming with a group of people, anticipate taking your order to go as this place has limited seating. The Bronco is good. This places used to be called the Donut Shop when I was in high school. They stopped selling donuts because the Bronco was so popular. Generations of high school kids would skip class and get a Bronco. This place definitely has a cult following. And since really all they do is Bronco Burritos, there can be a line out the door and would will get your Bronco is less than 5 minutes. The dining area is only a few tables and the majority of people take it to go. With all that said, my expectations for a breakfast burrito are very high. Galveston has never really had breakfast tacos, but breakfast burritos were the main thing. And Galveston has a great assortment of shops that serve the breakfast burrito. So for me, compared to other place on the island like the Grande at Los Compas, the old school Surprise at El Nopalito in the ghetto, the newer Mi Abuelita's, or even the salty Surprise at El Jardin, the Bronco is just ok. To be in this echelon of breakfast burrito, there are a few categories one must tackle- walk with me here: the Bronco's tortilla is not store bought (which if it was we wouldn't even be considering it here) and is homemade, but not like the super thick and delicious homemade tortillas of Los Compas or Mi Abuelita's. Subjectively, I don't care for their salsa. It's kinda weak sauce, pun intended. The bacon isn't too salty which is a plus. The shredded cheddar cheese isn't melted on. The egg and potato mixture is solid, no complaints there. So again, I understand there is a cult following of this place. They are super quick and efficient, they are very consistent and you will know exactly what you're going to get, and their price is about $1 more than the other shops. They have the same big size of their burrito just like the others. But if you sit down with a Los Compas Grande and a Bronco Burrito and still think the Bronco is better, you're kidding yourself. Please don't get me wrong, the Bronco is serviceable and will do in a pinch, just not the best in Galveston. read more

We saw this place on The Dead Files on TV and decided next time we were in Galveston to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. The place is easy to miss and it's a little hard to find parking because it's so small and it gets really crowded. There was a line when we got there but it moved pretty fast. Since the place is so small, it's hard to stay out of people's way when waiting for your order to be ready. We ordered a Bronco burrito and a barbacoa burrito to go. They were both really good but the barbacoa was our favorite. It was probably the best barbacoa I've ever had. Not greasy or fatty and super fresh tasting. The tortillas are good and fresh. The green salsa has a good flavor and a tiny bit of a bite at the back of your throat but not overpowering. The only thing I would change is to add some onions and cilantro to the barbacoa burrito but other than that it was great. We will go back next time we stay in Galveston. read more

I got their carne guisada burrito and I didn't think it was anything exceptional especially for the price of $6. The music is also quite loud which causes people to talk louder than normal making it a very loud environment. It's good but wasn't as good as most of these reviews will lead you to believe. I lived in corpus christi for years and of course they had taquerias on every corner with the huge tacos that were also delicious. when i moved to houston, i didn't see as many taco places. One day while at work, my coworker called me to see what kind of taco i wanted from here. i got what i used to get in corpus which was a carne guisada, refried beans and cheese taco. I wasn't expecting much but oh my gosh, i was brought back to my days in cc and absolutely LOVED it. ate every bite. this place is awesome. can't wait to go back. very fresh and excellent food!!! read more

Bronco Burritos is by far the gold standard on breakfast burritos. They set the bar against which other breakfast burritos should be measured. Yes, they're that good. Been coming here since I was a kid. Since the first year they were open. Back when they were named "The Donut Shoppe". In all these years, they've consistently maintained a level of delicious greatness that is second to no one. I've tried other breakfast burrito places of course. But every time I'm eating some other place's burrito; I'm thinking to myself, 'the bronco is better'. In recent times I've developed a gluten intolerance. I was worried I couldn't eat at the bronco anymore. But I can! Their menu doesn't state it, but they do offer many gluten free options. You just have to know what to order. For example, the bronco burrito comes with a flour tortilla. I now order it on corn tortillas. They wrap it perfectly in four corn tortillas for me. They offer corn tortillas, regular flour tortillas, and whole wheat flour tortillas. They'll even prepare your burrito with only egg whites or egg yellows at your request. Their staff is always very friendly, courteous, and polite. I really want Diners, drive-in's and dives to feature this place on one of their episodes on the food network. Maybe one day. To sum this up, you need to eat at this place. You'll get hooked. read more

Oh my gosh can I give more then 5 stars??!! This place had the MOST amazing barbocoa breakfast burrito I have ever had. Can't even begin to explain how amazing the meat was, the best I have ever had. My son took me here for breakfast while I was in town visiting. From the outside, this place might look like just a hole in the wall, but inside - be prepared to experience an incredible burrito with everything "breakfast" in it!
