DONT ORDER FROM HERE They didn't give us the correct order, we asked for a pepperoni pizza, how difficult is that? They don't take credit cards and their wait is extremely long. Ordered a pizza to go... mushrooms, red peppers & tomatoes. Good thin crust, average mozzarella, no sauce (!!!!), watery tomatoes, skimpy amount of red peppers, at least they used fresh mushrooms (again, skimpy), not canned. Pretty much tasteless. My first and last time for this place. Who the hell makes a pizza without sauce????? STAY AWAY! Not good pizza. Its soaking with sauce that u can't hold it. It's almost soupy and little cheese. I'm Hispanic myself and even I perfer some Italian making my pizza not only 3 Mexicans working there. The same way I wouldn't want a Asian making my rice and beans. You feel me...?? Lol. Anyways the antipasta platter wasn't good either. I got it cuz I read a review that said the marinated mushrooms were delicious ( not so much). We used to enjoy the pizza from Brooklyn's frequently. Their crust is perfect, thin but not too thin and good flavor and cooked to perfection in the coal burning oven. Their sauce is great too. However, recently they have switched to a cheaper mozzarella that ruins the whole pizza. To add insult to injury, they have been increasing their prices and they don't even accept credit cards, it's cash only. It's a shame that the only decent pizza place in Ridgewood is no longer worth the price due to the cheap mozzarella! read more

Located in Ridgewood, NJ where pizza restaurants flock like the salmon of Capistrano, this place surprisingly stands out. A small joint, where there the decorum is not too fancy but the quality of the foods is extremely high. Probably the best crust on a pizza, I've ever consumed to be frank. The only reason I dock a star is because of the excessive nature of the environment within, where little kids infest itself inside like zoo animals. Also, the last time I was here, I unknowingly discovered that this establishment is a cash-only restaurant, like c'mon do we live in the 1940's here? Brooklyn's Coal Burning Brick Oven Pizzeria in Ridgewood serves up one the most delicious pies I've ever tasted. Thin-crust dough, homemade tomato sauce, imported olive oil, a delicious light layering of mozzarella, with a touch of basil and oregano. These guys know how to make an absolutely delicious pie, and it's even better when you get it topped with pepperoni or mushrooms. Their salads, too, are hefty and inexpensive. But for goodness sakes, this place has been in business for at least two decades and yet they still don't know how to set up a functional ordering system. I have lost count of the number of times that I called and received a barely legible message requesting me to hold and leaving me waiting on hold for several minutes with no recording, no update, no music, no cue whatsoever to indicate that I was not disconnected. In other instances they simply don't pick up at all. And today, for the first time, I received a recording requesting that a message be left. One half hour later, I have no idea if my order was received, acted upon, ignored or not. It's 2021, guys, learn how to set up a reasonable answering system or get enough staff to take calls promptly and courteously or at least alert customers that there will be a wait and get a system that signals that their call has not been disconnected and has not been forgotten. I put up with this nonsense because I love their pies, but a key part of the dining experience is the respect afforded a customer. This place has little respect for people calling in, and I could say that with confidence because I have placed -- with much difficulty almost every time -- easily a dozen orders in the last year alone. One star for an otherwise excellent place that has not learned how to take orders from the public at dinner time. read more

Im suprised at some of the reviews here. Ive never dined in, only take out and only pizza or calzones but both I find to be spectacular. I love their brick oven pizza. Its totally different from what you normall get in jerz. I do agree the white pizza could use a little more flavor but still very good. Its all about the crust. Went there last weekend. This is a great pie. The fresh mozz, the fresh sauce, the fresh basil. The crust is just doughy enough and just crispy enough. When you walk in the place you get a great impression, it smells great, though it appeared that the hostess was a little flustered. The staff was helpful, though they forgot our waters and drinks until right before our pizzas came and we reminded them, but it was busy and the food made up for it so we didn't get too up in arms over it. I'd still opt for the Hackensack location as it's got less of a crowd and less ::cough:: yuppies ::cough:: so its definitely more my scene. On the whole a great pizza though. read more

Just went for lunch for the first time in quite awhile. The pie was ok but there were so many things wrong with it. First of all the crust was the best part. The quality of the rest of the ingredients was not so good. We ordered 1/2 with tomatoes , basil and fresh mushrooms, the other half with sausage and roasted red peppers that they claimed were fresh, not out of a can. They had so much red sauce slathered on this pie, we had to scoop most of it off to get to the toppings we paid extra for. The mushrooms were bland, the sauce was like not sauce it was more like tomatoes out to the can that no one cooked with any garlic or flavor at all, just slathered it on, plain and bland, no spice no nothing. The sausage was thin little slices here and there also ,not good quality and the roasted peppers tasted canned to me. All this for 25 bucks. Simply not good enough, won't be back read more

I have to admit finally I will accept that you just cannot get a 'thin crisp well done pie' here...it is what it is. Thick & Gooey. Only the crust gets burnt. My favorite part about this place was the dough...in the form of breadsticks, garlic bread that looks like an entire pizza, and then the pizza of course! I might have picked the wrong toppings and didn't really like the eggplant on the pizza! The salads are huge though and enough for a family of 4 to share! The service was friendly and quick. In NY/NJ area we are spoiled for choice for pizza. Personally, I really like Brooklyn pizza! The pizzas are coal fired and the crust is chewy (not thin-crust which I know a lot of people prefer) My only complaints are no slices-- and cash only so it is not always a convenient choice. read more

First time ordering from here. I called in for two pies and only to get told when I arrive that it's "cash only". Um ok. Why didn't the lady on the phone say it's cash only. I had to go back outside. Drive around and Find and ATM and go back to get my food. Fine I can accept that, you forgot to say cash only. This rating is for the pizza alone. Tried some appetizers that were ok, but nothing memorable about them. The pizza is a great value, super fresh, the crust is airy, crisp, with just the right amount of char on the edges. Solid place to bring a bottle of wine and enjoy an inexpensive, casual dinner with the family. Get there early because it does get busy. The pizza here is positioned in between the typical pizza joints (like Renato's, Puzo's, etc.) and the fancy pizza joints (Amano, and that terrible new place on Broad). This is not the typical pizza you order for a kids' bday party. It's more "adult" and the kids still love it. read more

Having moved recently from Hoboken, we were worried that we might miss our local pizza places, but I have to say, Brooklyn's surpassed all expectations. I love pizza, especially NY-style, and I've tried hundreds of places across the country, and this is my favorite! Better than Grimaldi's, Keste, etc - it's that good! The toppings are fresh, the mozz is perfectly melted in the right ratio to the sauce, and the crust is as close to crack as you can get. The restaurant itself is your typically no-frills, cash only red check table cloth pizzeria, but who cares when you're stuffing your face with amazing pizza! The stuffed Eggplant appetizer, breadsticks and Calzones are good as well, but the Pizza is the star. The mozz in the salad is not as good for some reason, but that's my only complaint. If you bring your kids, they also have paper and crayons which is a nice touch. Bottom line - best pizza in Ridgewood... easy. read more

We ordered a salad and two large pies. This place does not deliver, which was not a big deal for us but may be for others. The salad was a cold antipasto, and was very good. It did not come with any dressing, and while an oil/vinegar would have been nice, it didn't take away from how good it was. All of the ingredients were very fresh, from the lettuce to the mozzarella (which is homemade). The pizza was great, but there was one disappointment I've seen others point out. The pizza comes in bags, which would be fine (even desirable since it's less clutter when thrown away), but they do not keep the pizza warm. As soon as we got it home, the oven had to be immediately turned on to heat up the pizzas. However, when warm, both pizzas were excellent. The cheese is their fresh homemade mozzarella, and the eggplant pie was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Best pizza in Ridgewood hands down. I tried the newer place on the corner that has a sign as voted #1 pizza but what you get is a $15 dollar personal size that you could easily make at home. Perhaps it's a matter of personal taste but as someone who likes a lot of flavor I find the combo of sauce, mozzarella, and crust to be spot on. Not sure how other reviewers could think it's bland. I do recall some times in the past where they skimped a bit on the sauce but lately they've been doing a great job. The only drawbacks with this place is the cash only policy and the lack of a pizza box when you order take out. Your pizza is placed on round cardboard with a thin paper sheath over it. Not easy to transport/drive with and it let's all the heat out. In any case, every time I bring someone new here they end up loving it. read more
