I am sure Dixie road house would be better. I am all for supporting local places but it has to be good enough for me to recommend. The burger was a thin patty: ask for medium cooked but was well done. At least the brioche bun was good. The cobb salad was mainly iceberg with grilled chicken and avocado. The kids pancake taste like most breakfast joints as if they use same supplier. I will stick with Cracker and barrel for pancake. The waitress did not provide ketchup or syrup until we asked. It was all full when we showed up but we only had to wait maybe 5 min. update 1/1/2020: terrible experience. we will not be back. took a decent sized group because we were impressed on our past visit, but were seriously embarrassed with the food. we apologized to our group for taking them somewhere that served terrible food quality. we waited about 30-45 minutes from ordering until we got food on the table. most of us had cold or improperly cooked food. we regret spending our money here today. don't know what was going on with them, but this is a lasting impression and my group has said they will never go back. read more

What a cute and cozy diner! Went here for breakfast during the weekend. It was busy but not overcrowded. There's a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. I was happy to see that a lot of the breakfast items come with pancakes so you can order all your favorite foods. My husband ordered the Hurst Skillet based on other reviews and it didn't disappoint. I got the Berry Berry Bo Berry pancakes which came with two eggs and bacon. It was delicious and I think I got my full day's serving of fruit with those pancakes. read more

This was one of the best places I have ate at in years! My mom and I are in Texas visiting family for the weekend. I googled breakfast places close to our hotel. This place popped up. So we tried it. This place did not disappoint! My mom had the sampler and I had the omelet!! Both came with pancakes. Both were great!! We will definitely be visiting this place again!! I arrived with very high hopes, and upon entry my hopes seemed well founded: kind of old school veneer with proper updates. I ordered coffee and water as I decided what to order. The menu presented an appealing variety of options. I was presented with a large white mug of delicious coffee and an old school red plastic tumbler of ice water. It seemed all was right with the world as I awaited my Brookside Sampler. From about that time, I was perpetually buzzed by a fly. My meal arrived and it was adequate, but the pancakes were under-done. I was disappointed that only link sausage was available, rather than sausage patties, but they were tasty. The meats seemed inadequately drained, as the grease was a bit too prevalent. The tastes were good, and they had Chalula for my eggs, so I liked that. What a gem! The berry pancakes were delicious and the bacon and eggs were cooked perfectly. The pancakes were topped with plenty of berries and whipped cream and had some baked inside as well. The dish must have sat in the window for quite awhile. The chicken came as tenders and the batter was so hard it was difficult to cut or chew. I understand that any place can have an off dish, but the service was very poor as well. My tea was empty for most of the meal and I was never offered a refill. When asked how the meal was, I told the server that it was a fail. I got an apology but no offer to discount the meal, which would have gone a long way with me. There were coloring books and crayons for the kids, but we weren't offered them - I had to get up from the table and grab my own after we were seated and I noticed them at the front. The food was okay, but not something I'd run back for. We had finished long before the waitress came with our check, and it took a while for her to come back after that, even though there were maybe 4 other tables in the entire restaurant, and she wasn't the only server. Normally my reviews are concise. I had prepared to write this review I was forced to realize that even on my 4 and 5 star reviews I could use a few more adjectives and adverbs. Like the commercial where the customer is displeased with the installation of a satellite dish :Oh Yeah, I got words". We had just sat down and I was opening my Yelp app to check in when we found ourselves drenched in ice water and ice cubes. I realize accidents can happen and was mentally preparing myself to set this aside before ordering and thinking ahead to my review. That's when the manager came over and said "That's OK, this happens." It doesn't normally happen to me and not to clothes that need to be dry cleaned rather than washed. There was no real concern expressed about us or our clothes, more about cleaning off the table. Only when we began to walk away did they offer to seat us at another table. They spread the water around with a damp mop and put signs up to warn others of the puddles. Looking at the menu I didn't find items noted in prior reviews,, such as 3 cheese omelets. When the food arrived, I realized there were no condiments on any of the tables. When somebody finally came by to see if we needed anything my requests included butter and jelly, received butter but no jelly. My wife's egg's were so cold the cheese on top was dry and hard. My over medium eggs were served with runny translucent uncooked egg whites. Granted they did deduct the price of one meal from our check, but no one came to the table to point that out, apologize, etc. Look at my tag line, I would rather have a decent meal and experience rather than a free less than mediocre meal and experience. read more

I asked for no mushrooms and no onions on my omelette and they gave me both! I told them don't worry about the omelette, I no longer want it, and they still made me another one... Absolutely amazing food and staff, we had Steve and he was super awesome. Everyone was super nice and courteous. The food was all around delicious. The chicken fried steak sandwich was yummy and freshly made, you can tell that it was not frozen, and with the bottom less fries was perfect. The pecan pie French toast was nice and sweet. Love this place. Been coming here since July for weekly coffee breakfasts with silver sneaker friends. The atmosphere, the quality of food and the staff are great. Chicken fried steak, do not let your eyes fool you looks big but mostly batter and tastless at that the meat was tough and had no flavor at all. The pancakes were so dry they sucked up the syrup like it was water and they were tough and again tasteless. The srambled eggs were like eating tasteless foam rubber. The hurst skillet was again tasteless no flavor at all unless you drowned it in picante sauce. Running out of good breakfast joints and this place is the worst. read more
