Brookside caught our eye on our way into the park. On the drive back we decided to stop in for dinner. Great burger and salad. My friend ordered chicken fried steak and said it was divine. If you're looking for comfort food this is the spot. Ps: the carrot cake was delish

Cute place! pLittle pace in the side of the road! A perfect lunch spot. Salad bar was good-chicken salad very tasty. Grilled cheese and soup were great too. Ladies were friendly. Be careful though-extra lemon is 10 cents a slice!

Where to begin! Amazing experience, cute little restaurant that has a buffet but the plates are big enough to enjoy just one. Martha made the experience the best. She was sweet and funny plus quick and attentive. We hope to come back soon just to be able to have Martha as our server again. Also pancakes melt in your mouth! Love it, you must try it.

this was a fun place to grab dinner after a long day of cruising skyline drive and hiking. the food was a bit overpriced for what it was, but we don't mind spending money for the experience either. my husband got the special, it was pork chops and onions in some sort of sauce that was pretty good. i got the buffet so i could try a little bit of everything- lasagna, fried chicken, fried shrimp, and lots of other great sides (chili and mac n cheese were my favorites). the salad bar is great, and dessert is a must

A Luray institution, conveniently located if you're heading to or from Shenandoah National Park.

Fantastic little café. We came in on a Sunday morning around 10:00 and it was packed. Amazingly,…read morewith a line snaking around tables, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes to order and food was ready in under 5. Seeing how much looked good and we were tourists, we over-ordered and got to try a little of everything. From the summer menu, we got Biscuit and Gravy, Paradise Parfait, and the Bread Pudding. I enjoyed my biscuit and gravy - pretty solid. Child #1 devoured his parfait (I tried it and I think it may have been my favorite item - they also have a vegan chia seed option - a woman was enjoying hers next to us when we waited in line), and my wife loved the bread pudding, which has a nice maple glaze to it. We also grabbed several of their pastries, including some scones, a muffin, and a buckwheat cake slice. All were great, though the buckwheat pastry was a tad dry. They have a lot of standard offerings of a coffee shop - teas, coffees, lattes, etc. I got a matcha latte and found it to be earthy and not too sweet. The inside is a bit narrow, especially when you consider a long line. The staff are efficient but don't lose their warm hospitality. Broad Porch has an Air BNB "Loft in Luray" located upstairs. I imagine it would be wonderful waking up to the smell of coffee and pastries. I would say if you're visiting Luray, Broad Porch is a MUST VISIT. There's something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Well it all came down to the customer service and food delivery time. When we first sat down, nothing was mentioned to us about the service times. We were greeted and just kinda tossed into a spot. I say it that way b/c they weren't very amenable in how they sat us. After sitting down, they did the order, drinks, etc. like usual. The catch - they were MASSIVELY behind on their ticket times. Was it busy? A little, there were still seats around us available though. Now when I say massively behind, it took us nearly 50 minutes for our food to arrive. That's just crazy for a lunch service. In the future, if they were that behind on ticket times, it would help all the customers in the restaurant (allowing tickets to stop backlogging), and set the expectations for the new customers coming in. Maybe it was a one-off, but it definitely prevented us from even considering it when we were looking at places to eat. Food Taste: 5 Overall Service: 2 Value of food to cost: 4 Facility: 5 Ambiance: Mom/Pop place that has a nice rustic, yet small town and nostalgic feel. Repeat customer: eh.. maybe? Dog Friendly: no

Stopped by Skyland Diner during a visit to Shenandoah National Park to grab lunch between hikes…read more The biggest highlight is definitely the views. It's hard to beat sitting down for a meal surrounded by such beautiful scenery, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. As a vegetarian, I found the lunch options a bit limited. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and the ALTO vegan sandwich. Both were perfectly fine, but neither really stood out. The food was average overall, though I was grateful to have vegetarian options available while spending the day in the park. I did notice their dinner menu includes a roasted vegetable stew, which sounded more up my alley, but unfortunately I was there during lunch hours. Overall, come for the incredible views and convenient location while exploring the park. The food didn't wow me, but it served its purpose and the staff made for a pleasant experience.

So let's start with the good - the scenery might be unbeatable. The restaurant is positioned near a…read moremountain ledge and gives you amazing views of Shenandoah and the Blue Ridge Mountains. I think you could just sit here all day and enjoy the mountain breeze from sunrise to sunset - you get both views because of where Skyland is positioned, but the sunset is definitely peak (pun intended) The food though, is not the best. We got the Mac and cheese which was decent, but definitely looks better than it tastes, but the "beef stew" has nowhere enough sauce for the amount of rice they give you, and the rice tastes like the 1 minute rice you get at the supermarkets. Definitely come to enjoy the views, but don't expect much from the food to elevate the experience.

Shannon, the owner and I chatted for quite awhile on how "Ollie Cat Cafe" came to be. The restaurant location on how many different things it was previous was quite fascinating, soda shop, pharmacy, opera house. Loved, the vibe and feel from this small town cafe. The atmosphere, passion, and dedication of Shannon , as one of the owners is something; I personally haven't seen in quite awhile in a restaurant. I ordered the Panko seasoned flounder sandwich that was outstanding, delicious, light and flavorful. The sandwich came with the side, and was delighted that they were fresh vegetable medley with the perfect amount of seasoning. Wonderful staff and dining experience. The servers were lovely and were attentive, despite how busy it was. They must get overflow business from the beer garden because I don't know how this place survives. I know that we were overflow business. My son ordered fish n chips, I ordered panko crusted cod in a wrap. We both received the exact same fish that appeared to be from a bag of frozen Kirkland frozen fish sticks (I know, because I buy them there). My wrap did not have lettuce or tomato as described in the menu. My son found a hair in his tartar sauce. Side salads looked like bagged salad. The rest of our party also experienced tasteless items (pasta, country fried steak, etc.) and none of us finished our meals. Water was as Bethelhem described -- very metallic. However, the servers did replenish our sweet tea multiple times and it was probably the best part of our meal.
